As it is a phoenix ROM, that is very likely yes
I also hope so.
Correct me if wrong.

Can this help? I saw a lot of things worked in this ICS port.
Will it be possible to make wifi calling available as as in 2.2 ? I couldn't find it in 2.3 so I'm hoping 4.0 will bring it back.

I don't much think WiFi calling will be available in ICS. I haven't heard anything of that nature added but aren't there other alternatives on market. So what are the major complications people are facing with porting ICS to our devices

It'll be better if we have a working rom first instead too ask for features
in the pre-alpha state of firmware.
Sorry guys. Admitted noob. Not a developer just a BIG BIG fan of what you guys do. Didn't know any better. Thanks so much for working on this kick ass project!

Andy, can u post the URL of the manifest of your sources?.. i m learning to develop android and would be helpful if you provide the URL.
Also how much is the size of the repo of urs? I am using virtualbox and want to decide the size of the virtual hd.
The virtual hdd have to be at least 50GB in its size.
I dont have a manifest.xml because i dont have a full repo nor provide
the full android sources but only modified code.
If you want to start with developmen on android, dont download not working
code, dont download the OS sources - it doesnt makes you happy after/when
compiling - better start with pure simple android apps to understand what is
android, how works android and what do i need to modify sources for my ideas.
if you really want to develop on the OS itself, i recommend to use a working tree
like AOSP Gingerbread or CM7 Gingerbread. ICS is still in early alpha, almost nothing
is working... it brings even nothing to write a lot of posts in development forums,
most developers doesnt spend time in answering "noob" questions, so its better
to learn step by step.

It's very good advice, when I knew ICS was about to be released I downloaded all the CM7 sources to be ready. I looked at Mik's thunderg sources, compared it to some other phones and just went through all of it to see how it works. I have a small notepad in which I wrote down what each file is for, why some things are changed for our phone and 'remade' CM7 for myself.
It means that when I look at the ICS code I still don't understand everything, but my head doesn't immediately explode when trying to work out why it doesn't work

Is it anything specific you don't like about those ROMs, or are you doing this for education?
For now, I can help testing if the ROM is stable enough for usage (SMS, GSM and wifi).
I can help out with build prop tweaks and any icons or anything we need done. I am still learning the android programming side so I wouldn't be of much help there.
Miui is based heavily on Cyanogenmod, so we'd need to have major progress on that before making any move onto that. As for what would be interesting would be a heavily customisable 'build your own ROM'.
I'd envisage large file, but one that you can select the features of, from theme to audio ports, tweaks, keyboards and the like, and one that you can clean up easily after flashing.
Thoughts?

one tip: if you want to start a "team" you need to know what you want (not based on cm or stock or miui or.....) just chose 1 build and see what you want to do with it

We will be making the rom like a major tweaked verision of the stock ics
with higher clock speeds on the kernel etc.

Then you should decide what are you going to do. Either you work with MIUI/stock and modify, theme and whatnot, or you work from source and build your own version of AOSP. The latter allows more, but also needs more knowledge.

but look it has grown to well known ROM and thats what i'm trying to achieve

most of the people don't like the ics UI by sony we will desing a bettter looking ui
etc

Hi Guys
I've just installed a new super lite ROM which seems pretty much perfect EXCEPT i'm missing two features of Samsung's "bloat"ware that I really like:
Blocking Mode
Stay Awake
I've tried Googling and failed miserably to locate these so, can anyone tell me where i can get these please? (Yes I know there are alternatives but i'd like to stay with apps I am happy with and that work for me)

Of they are only apks & libs you could extract them from a stock Rom and put them into yours I guess.

What is the ROM based on?
Is it Sammy or an AOKP based ROM?
If it's Samsung Based, I could take a Titanium Backup of it and send it across to you.

There is no single perfect rom for everyone.. Everyone is different and has different needs or "cravings"
Thats also why there's so many custom roms out there, to fit your needs (sometimes) If you cant find one, go with stock or learn to make your own.
I recently got the stable cm9 release for s2 and I noticed the video calling option is missing. Is this the problem only with cm & aosp based ROMs? Would the Samsung based roms have this feature? I've Googled for it but found nothing specific to this phone. Can anyone help?

I used to use cm9 but I don't remember exactly whether there was native video call, but everything was fine, maybe you have enabled use only 2G settings in the settings.. Duh!! and maybe that's the problem, well all stock based custom roms do support video calling and I'm pretty sure most AOSP and AOKP do support video calling.
Edit : my bad, Only stock based roms does support video calling.

No I've unticked the save battery option. It is definitely on 3g network.
Can you please link me to a stable release I can try this out with? I am referring to the video call option that comes with the phone and contacts apps on stock rom. I read a post here on xda stating that custom roms don't have the patenting license to use native video calling. Can someone verify this?

I don't know my region doesn't have 3G so I can't try it out, but I am definitely sure that statement is wrong, I am using NeatRom and it definitely has video calling option, and I am sure such a basic feature will be in most roms. Maybe Pure Google based OS like cyanogenmod might have some limitations since after all they warned them to take out Google Apps from their Roms, but no Rom builder would ever remove important features from a stock rom, so try stock based custom roms like Omega, NeatRom.. Likewise...
Edit :It seems AOSP can't work with video calling, but stock based roms don't have these limitations.

Thanks I'll try neatrom first and then omega. But I am so happy with this stable cm9 release. Oh well.

If you're missing video calling, you might soon miss h/w decoding like that of stock based roms,
And eventually maybe wifi direct, radio etc.
Wifi Direct is the thing which is holding me with NeatRom. I've got a tab and file sharing, never gets easier and faster than with a wifi direct in a S2. But I will jump around though, too addicted to tweaks and customization.

No.
According to my information, android does not has native video calling support.
All the oem's add it as an optional feature on their devices.
So cm9 wont have native video calling support.
If u want to use video calling, u can use stock based custom roms such as omega v23...

Yes mate, I think he gets that, after all we came to a conclusion and he has decided on flashing NeatRom.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, well, I checked some stock based roms but the latest ones are huge files, especially the one everyone is recommending here, Omega. My 3g plan allows only 2gb download per month, and if I download 650 mb file, that too with its inherent bugs, I'd be doomed.
So I went into the pages trying to search for a stable stock rom based release, and I found this, (sorry, too lazy to search the LINK, google it)
--VK--ICS-XWLPX-V5.4.5-Ripple-Final
And I've been using it for 2 days and not even a single force close or reboot or whatever. No bugs, and this is a first for me for any rom I used. Also, better battery than the stock rom too. And the customizations look awesome as well. Can be used as a daily drive. All for just 300 MB. I'll stop hunting for a while now. Thanks for your help, people.

Cyanogenmod issue need help !!!
i recently installed the Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my GT-I9305 but after the i realized that the old storage is gone "internal storage" so it says that i am using more than 50% from it even it's a clean install meaning the old data are still there and i am not able to see them , so i went to the recovery mode and the old files and date were there and a new folder with name (0) has the new apps and data , so the question here is how can i view the old data storage so i can move them to the new one , or to view them on my computer , i am new in XDA so i couldn't post it on the Cyanogenmod forum . thanks in advance
This is not I9305 forum .
Don't hijack threads with a totally different question
Please read sticky in General section regarding storage o or just search question asked day after day .Please read all the basics before flashing anything .

Personally , I am very happy with SlimBean (AOSP) as it delivers speed and gives me all features I want. The only thing I miss is the AllShare app for my AllShare Cast Dongle. Regarding camera, the AOSP 2.6 app gives most of the Samsung TW features, for Samsung S Planner, I use the stock Google Calendar App and for Music I use Poweramp, maybe try them, Poweramp got a free version as well.
