The best way to transfer big data? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have completely filled my 32gb sd card and I have in hand a new 64gb class 10 card. I put the new card in my phone and formated it. My question is what's the fastest way to transfer 29gb of data to a new card? Thanks.

pc sd card slot. back one up move to other .not really a faster way.

I hooked up my phone to my laptop then copied everything via disk drive option (took 45 mins) then I put in my new 64gb card into my phone and moved it all from the laptop (took arond 80 mins). Was over 27gb of data so I guess the length of time is accurate?

Would have been faster if you had placed the card directly into your laptop to copy. Transferring while still in phone is way slower.

I actually did that first. Placed the micro sd card in the full size sd card adapter then into the laptop. It kept saying certain files were corrupt and couldn't be copied. So I bit the bullet and did it the hard? way.

[Q] Phone won't detect anything above 8gb micro sd

Hey guys I took my sdcard out of the phone formatted it and when I put it back in the phone it now wont detect the sdcard and also it wont detect internal storage also...
EDIT: or nvm I rebooted it a couple times but now it detects the phone storage but when I put in my 16gb micro sd it does nothing until I remove it. When I remove it, it shows that it has been removed, but before that it doesn't show a sdcard is inserted... Yet when I put an 8gb one it it shows that it's in the phone...
Well we just discovered that our phones say there is no external storage at all. From best buy.

Really? My internal storage is there but it won't let me use anything above an 8gb card...

Format it in the phone, not on a computer. I'm using a 64gb in it right now, no issues.

I concur with this statement.
I too have a 64 gig card and I formatted it in the phone. The phone sees it as 59+gigs which is cool. But what I am trying to figure out is how to save or move apps to the actual sd card. Not phone storage that is the 9+ gigs, but the actual 64 gig card.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't think there is a way to do this right now with out changing the mount points

The thing is that the phone doesn't even detect that i've inserted the card. When I insert the 8gb card it shows preparing the sd card and it gives me all the options to unmount/format/everything else. When I put the 16gb one in everything is still grayed out and it doesn't even think i've inserted a micro sd card.

So how hard is it to do that and/or how soon before you think it could happen? It seems though HTC could maybe do something or is just the way Android is. It just seems that it should just be a part of it. LOL. I mean I already have some music on the sd card by creating the folder...I just don't want to run out of space on my phone.
Ok, i'm going to bestbuy in a little bit to pick up a 32gb micro sd and see if it'll work with that...

Micro sd card partition?

So I just got my new 64gb class 10 sd card, and last time I did a partition on sd card was about 2 year ago on the og evo, and I remember its was useful to have a partion ext.3 but now I see there is ext.4 also along the ext.2 as well. so my question is do I still need to partition sd card and which partition should I use? and what size? thank a lot!
U can see fat32 on mini partition tool....fat32 work on all android mobiles

I'm getting one in the mail also Saturday and was going to ask also. Don't you just put the card in your phone and format it and it works to get all 59GB? Then transfer all of my info from my 32gb card over to it?

keep in mind; fat32 has 4GB single file limit which means you wont be able to save anything larger than that such as blu-ray 1080p rips, etc...

Micro sd issue

Hey guys
I just got my new micro sd card (Samsung SDHC 32GB class 10). Till today I used stock EVO's 8GB Samsung class 6. So, I downloaded my old card content to my laptop and copied it to my new card but my pictures, videos and music files are not copied and all apps that were on my old card cannot be installed. I did this card to card tranfer many times before and never had a problem. What am I doing wrong?

Did you first format the new card inside the phone? Try doing that first and afterwards copy your stuff

Hmm... That is odd. I have heard that the phone had some problems with samsung cards, but i remembered them with 64gb cards... Try a different rom, just for the sake of argument. If that aint it, then i think the card and the phone dont get along too well
I don't know about you but my phone came with Samsung memory card so I thought I'd go for the same manufacturer with more memory. I'll try again tomorrow from scratch and see what happens. Thanks a bunch m8

I meant what i have seen other people around here talk about... I have a no name 32gb class 6 that never gave me any problems, but i have seen discussions about this in the past.
Good luck tomorrow, I hope a proper flash will fix your card
I didn't mean any disrespect man. You helped me a lot. I'll try tomorrow and post what happened
Just wanted to say - my phone is fast as hell with this card. I can't belive the smoothness and speed

Ok, did it. Looks like my files got corrupted while copying from my old sd card to my laptop. I managed to save my pics and music but I had to download all apps that I had from playstore.

Well congrats for saving at least part of your stuff . I had the same problems a few times, noticed them once when I tried to defrag my card and it was a bit over 50% fragmented. Since then, once every 2 or 3 months I copy all my stuff to my laptop and I format the card (slow format, not quick) to be sure I won't have my data corrupted. Also, I might suggest trying a different usb cable, that could be another reason why your stuff got corrupted.
Anyway, you said you saved the important stuff, so all is well now. Enjoy your new card
Well, my new card erased itself complitely yesterday
I noticed a significant lag while opening apps on sd this week and card reader gave me class 2 read and write speeds. So I guess it's broken. Back to stock

Sdcard

Has anyone ran into a issue with their sdcard and their Note2?
Last night I used my Note2 with no issues. Woke up this morning and noticed I had a alert message saying that the sdcard had been unexpectedly unmounted. Couldnt get the sdcard to remount. The phone wouldn't/couldnt reconize thw sdcard. And even my laptop couldn't reconize it. But the phone reconized a different sdcard, so I know the phone reader is still working. But this is a Lexar 64gb class 10 xc sdcard. Not some cheap trash. I lost my nandroid backups, movies, pics, etc....
Just glad I wasn't running the Jellybeans v18 on the sdcard swap selection. Then I wouldn't be able to use my phone period. Lmk if you have seen these sdcards go out before. Just beware!!!
Why wouldn't you be able to use it phone if card goes down

What he's referring to is JellyBeans additional "SD Swap" feature which basically makes your phone see your SD Card as the internal storage. I don't know why he thinks his phone wouldn't work though, as with any phone the Internal Storage/SD Card is not required for the device to operate.

I've ran into this issue with Lexar jump drives and had to use command prompt in W7 to make them work again. It always happened when I would write a Linux distro to the drive to use as a bootable disk.
The fix requires you completely wiping the drive, which the two jump drives in question that I always have issues with are actually micro SD card readers with whatever size card in them.
Here is the link explaining how to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/219693/unable-to-format-usb-stick-to-full-capacity/
What I have to do though is select the disk drive and once in it I have to use the Create Partition Primary command instead of selecting a partition because on my drives there are no partitions and it won't even show up under Computer most of the time. Give it a shot and see if it gets you back up and running, if not you may have a faulty card that Lexar needs to replace.

I was reading, some people are problems with the scandisk 64gig cards. The card might be dead from what I've read. But don't hold it against me, just passing some info. I haven't ran across this problem.

I went through 5 sandisk 64GB cards before I got one that worked for more than a week. All brand new cards. That was back when the GSIII first came out though.

I myself used an adata 64gb class 10 and understand completely about the card just not wanting to work. Granted I'm keeping to 32gb class 10s until I see better reviews in the bigger cards.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Huawei Ascend, Droid Charge, Droid Bionic

See I've never experienced any issues with either of my SanDisk 64 GB Class 10 and neither has anyone else I know that owns one. I wonder if they had a bad batch?
I haven't seen anything about other manufacturers 64GB Class 10 cards having issues yet but it is either something to do with Class 10 cards or a bad batch.

I just had a sandisk 32 gig class 10, and a 16 gig both go out on the same day. One in my wife's note 2, the other in my daughters tab2. Neither was recognised in windows completely. I reformatted both, but 16 gig will show blank card on the wife's phone until unmounted remounted. Both less than 6 months old, on the same day. I blame the solar flares, what else can I blame it on?

I wouldn't say that, I would say they are the most expensive therefore people think they work the best. Cause everything that costs more is better, right?

How do you go about doing this? I have no original paperwork or packaging, just a dead 32GB Sandisk card.
call 1-866-SANDISK (726-3475) and tell them about your problems they will ask for the numbers off the card. They make you send your to them first then when they recieve it they'll send you a new one.

I want to replace my current sd card with a larger card but I don't know how to elegantly (& smoothly) lay down everything that was on the old card into the new card. I tried transferring via my computer but that didn't work. I'm sure members have done this, can you please share your 1,2,3...experience?

You can use the old one in another device and use Wi-Fi direct or super beam to do the transfer

Thanks for your input. The phone got so screwed that i will have to back up my data to drop box, and unroot my phone, re-install the factory software, re- format the 128gb card, and reinstall all my stuff. And I still don't know why the phone went haywire so badly. There simply was no good reason. Except maybe the weather was contrary.
