hi, well, my problem is, when i finish charging the battery, after a while, the icone start flashing ( appear and dissapear) with fast drain .............. intil i think 30% it stops flashing and drains normaly after that?!! is the usb port the reason??? or the battert it self ?? thenks a lottttttttttttttttt for helping
Oh oh... I have a small question... Look at the USB port.. Are these teeth touching the upper or lower surface of the port?
Edit: I remember your post now, several days ago... I said to you, and I advised you that it is a hardware problem... But you didn't care for what I said^^...

I understand what you mean. The problem is, that the teeth of the USB port are touching the upper our lower walls of the USB port, thus making a voltage mass. That's why it is showing you charging/discharging.. But be careful, when the teeth touch the walls of the USB port, an electrical circuit is being created, but it is not a good one...
If you are not under warranty, you can order a USB port over Ebay and change it manually with the help of this trial it's usually cheap and easy to replace..

I think that the battery measuring system turns to low usage when the battery goes down to this low level... That's why the battery icon would stop flashing. Try flashing a GB ROM, as the battery measuring system is not as advanced as on ics or jb...

Sure you can, but you must stand the super drain..
PS: I am not responsible for a damage that could happen to your phone, it might get a bootloop and you won't be able to flash via odin, as your phone won't get recognized by the PC...

my s2 mainboard was damaged
the only way to solve it was replacing whole mainboard for 200$
so i sold mine and got a new one =D
hi again, well, i looked at a video in youtube , and wht i did, is pulling up a litte bit the port's teeth it self, and its gone the ' charging ' message! it was so low, tht it touches the down side of the port i think!.... but i think tht changing the whole port is a need...

Are you using a case? What's the temperature like in your location?
My SGS3 also usually gets heated up to 32°c without any usage. When I use my phone for 45 mins straight, my device heats up to 49°c. Btw I'm using an Azmer silicone case.

I didn't use any case. I hate this..
I have this problem since I made a update to firmware LF2 and even i come back to LE8 , I have ever the problem...
Before, my phone could down to 25°C when i didn't use my phone...
But here.. when I use it 5 mins, it's very on the left bottom... (near the micro sdcard)
I have changed now for a new kernel Siyah.. but the problem is also here...

Although the phone becoming warm at the lower back is common, I suggest you take it to your nearest service centre and get it checked since you are telling that just after 5mins of use the device is getting heated up. I'm sure if there is any defects in your battery it will be replaced.

It must be a defective unit. Don't worry Samsung can replace it for you.
Hi friends...this is the first thread by me so far and that too bcoz i cant sort out my problem by myself.
so the problem is with my neoV's screen...first it started a few times while scrolling through lists...then anytime touching any option...the display showed vertical coloured lines starting from the top coming down and went blank in 1.5 seconds...then nothing...everything on the screen gives respond on touch but i cant see anything...just blank black screen.
at first the problem went away when locking the screen and unlocking after a minute...but now...it persists even after reboots...i cant even see the boot screen...nor the recovery options...so no way to do anything.
i changed kernels via fastboot, dried the device with hair drier...only repairing with pc companion or flashing stock ftf is left...but i think the problem is not software related.
i think i have damaged my screen by charging from a samsung charger.
i will update the findings after flashing a ftf or repairing with pc companion.
any of you have any idea about the problem?
thanks.
well, I think same as you, hardware problem, LCD passed away..
PCC or .ftf and to the service center.
btw, why you mean it's caused by samsung charger?

in my case...i cant authentically say it is bcoz of the samsung charger...anyway...downloading .431 ftf...very slow conection...then if the problem persists...i will have to relock the bootloader to take it for service.
but i fear they may ask for the charger...and if i take the torn charger to them...they will straight away refuse to repair under warranty...and buying a new charger will be costly...sony equipment is always costly...and i think it would be better to repair my charger by myself and replacing the display.

Don't worry, they wont ask you that. You are claiming warranty for phone, not charger
In none of service center I've been to, charger was need to be given.

So I have had this I9100 for about a year. Flashed with CM10.1 long ago and been reflashing new nightlies when i see stuff on the github log that address bugs I want fixed. Anyway the other night I put my phone charging, I didnt flash anything that night just a normal day. Next morning phone is dead. Wont charge, wont boot, no recovery no download mode, PC wont detect anything when I connect via USB. Odd thing is that now when the battery is inside the phone it starts heating up like crazy on both sides of the back camera/sim card slot, I guess where the CPU is.
So I searched for people with dead and bricked S2 and didn't find anyone with this problem, then I searched for people with other phones and again no one with this problem.
So I was wondering if USB jig would be able to help me, or JTAG, or if its just the usb board that died since it was while charging and it gives off no signal via USB to a computer and if I changed that it would come back to life.
What do you guys think? Was it the main board or is it just a fried USB board and the phone can't regulate power without it?
Sounds like the USB board, but you never know until someone 'qualified' has a look at it. We've had a lot of similar problems on here over the past two weeks (this week in particular I've seen maybe 5-6).
Doubt a jig or JTAG would be any good given it isn't a firmware type issue by the sound of it.
I guess I'll order a usb board a replace it. If it doesnt work its not expensive anyway. About $10.
I was wondering if there have been a lot of people lately with this problem could it have been one of the nightlies that screwed up power management and fried the board?

Yep if you can get a cheap one 2nd hand it's no great loss if it doesn't work & you end up needing to replace the MB as well. If you need them, I attached the SGS2 service manuals to a post of mine a day or two ago (click on my name & have a look through my posts over the past few days) if you need/want them.
That's an interesting theory. Not being a dev, I'm not up to spec on whether anything at, say, kernel level could cause something like that to happen (In the 18 months I've been here, I've never seen a kernel/firmware pinned down as the cause of something like this), but you wouldn't say it's impossible.
Edit - Here you go, the zip is attached to this post.

Did you try the ole toothbrush trick?? Get an old toothbrush and put it into the usb port an go mad. Sometimes a film can be on the terminals of the usb port, which gives you a bad connection.

Also did you try another galaxy 2 battery? Your battery could be dead. Have you got a multimeter handy?

With the multimeter check is there a voltage coming from the battery. The battery by itself!. Next leave the battery out from your phone and plug in your charger (which is connected to the wall). Put the multimeter across the appropriate terminals of the phone and measure the voltage if any.
Report any voltages values you have

The battery gives off a steady 4.
The phone connected to the wall without battery gives off 1.3 when first connected or the battery removed and then very slowly starts dropping to 0 going slower as it drops. That USB port is working, battery is fine. Next the screen might be dead. First check to see if the backlight is working. Turn on your phone as you would normally shine a light onto the screen and see if you can see anything. Use a flashlight or something with a high focused beam

That vibration normally only happens towards the end of a successful boot....so if you've felt that vibration, the chances are that you don't have a bootloop. .....the phone would *appear* to be starting normally. But if you can't see anything on the screen, your problems will lie elsewhere.....

So batery and usb charging normal. No screen problems, and heating cpu while off. Most likely main board fried? I'm gonna get some resistors to make a jig and try that anyway. Yeah...that CPU heating is a worry.....it's obviously being forced to do something that it wasn't intended to do....and it doesn't like it.....
And with regards to changing the impedance of the jig....probably not advisable. ....micro electronics is very sensitive to resistance and voltage. ...what you're doing with the jig is essentially bridging two connectors. ...
Impedance too low....too much current/voltage passes.....things might begin to get hot (best case)
Impedance too high.....too little current/voltage passes.....no effect.....

Ill buy some resistors tomorow then.
I wad thinking does a normal s2 perform any operation that may involve processing when putting in a batery without turning it on?
I was asking this because it could be some sort of loop in some process it does when detecting a batery.

Well, I'm sure I remember reading *somewhere* that Android phones have a secondary/simplified/low level kernel that runs even when the phone is switched off......apparently that was how some phone on verizon was hacked or something.......

My i9300 all of a sudden stops charging.
I disassembled it and the next day decided to plug it in again. It charged up until 48%, when i plugged it out for use again.
Now, one day later it again won't charge... weird?
I'm trying to buy a usb port connector and want to replace it as i think the problem lies there, but how do i do this?
All the youtube video's are only replacing the simple stuff.
I have tried using another battery + batterycharger, this is not the problem. The phone still doesn't charge. I really suspect there is oxidation inside the USB connector.
Hope there's anybody who can help with replacing it.
should be the cable problem? many cases on this!

You said you dissembled it, you have enough knowledge about it?
I don't have much myself too but I tried my hands on my older devices in many cases, so I can only suggest you that the charging point which is a usb port would be connected to your pcb which needs to be disconnected with the help of an soldering iron and then you can replace it with a new one. However do it only if you have subsequent knowledge.
Also before trying anything try more chargers, I came to know that none of the generic and few original ones couldn't charge mine too. Check for their voltage.

alright, thanks for the reply. But my device is flashed around 1000 times and it looks like i opened beercans with it. So this would not create a healthy warranty argument i guess. This is why i'm trying to do it myself.
Now all of a sudden it charges again, when i left it at the charger... so definately no charger problem. maybe oxidation/waterdamage from raindrops?

Soo .. if you manage too get system status back too normal, you can easily claim your warrenty
Put it in a bag of rice for a day so any water kind of damage is gone.

it randomly starts charging and stops charging now. same with connecting to pc, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't connect...
no cable issue.
If you are afraid about any water or moisturizer fault, put it in a bag of rice for a day.

also when you think the water has already dried up?
Yeah, sometimes water dried up and formed in iron too but I can't be sure that could be your problem.

first get it to some hardware maintainance..
may be you have to change the usb port..
and hey, dont worry..
its a minor case for maintainers.:good:

you put water in the mhl port? seriously. and then after damaging it you used water again to try and repair it. WOW you are lucky you didnt get electrocuted. best way to dry it is to put it in a bag of rice for a good day or two. the rice should absorb the few drops of water but the damage is already done. you probably have a short circuit somewhere in the phone preventing it from communicating with the pc. does hdmi out work?

Maybe just think a little. Speaking of charging ports. I seriously hope every device could switch to lightning port.
