Lot of questions - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey, sup guys! I'm about to buy a LWW because my good ol' X8 was stolen a few days ago
so, I have a lot of questions about this device...
- General overclock limit
- Max. amount of ram with custom kernel
- Does the camera have zoom?
- Best Rom + Kernel combination (GB, ICS and JB)
Thanks guys

Hey,
- I think it is 2 ghz (with some type of kernels)
- I don't really know. I never tried to increase RAM for my LWW
- Of course it has
- I suggest to use only Stock ICS based rom's and mesa/panic kernel. I'm currently using Xperia Pureness ROM latest version with Panic kernel. But I think I will try Mesa kernel because (based on feedbacks) it gives good battery life.

- dont go over 1,6
- what do you mean?
- yes it does
- there is no such thing as best in android. you will have to find the one that suits you

- 1.6 ghz, don't overclock too much cause you can brick your device
- Kernel has nothing to do whith Ram ussage
-Yes it has
- It deppends on you. In my opinion GB roms are the best, but you should try all

There was a difference in my X8: Stock kernel can only manage 160mb of RAM and a custom kernel manages between 185 to 192mb (a recent JB kernel)
So, what's the max. amount of free ram that a custom kernel can get on a LWW?

[Q] Overclocking GT-I9100 ( omega v9 and siyah

Ive got two SGS2 phones one running Omega v8 and the stock kernel and the other running Omega v9 and Siyah Kernel.
My main phone is the stock kernel/ICS v8 and my test phone is the other. While I await the release of the SGS3 ( and if vodaphone stick to their word my free upgrade ) Im messing around to see which is the best balance etc...I will when i get my new phone give the wife one and keep/sell/give the other to my eldest daughter.
What im asking for would be a little advice on peoples choosen method to overclock and underclock their phones. What seems to be the general consencous on the best software SetCPU, Tegra etc with the siyah kernel.....or is there something a little better....Or can i just tweak siyah and get a performance increase.
thanks in advance
U can try cpu control, voltage control and there is extweaks software(only works with siyah kernel) in play store which gives u many customization but be careful. I think lulzactive governer gives u better performance and battery life.
With siyah kernel u can boot in recovery and under kernel specific options select performance profile.
Thank me if I helped U.

[Q] Hoe to OC LWW with Locked bootloader?

Hello people, i bought a Sony Live with Walkman, but my Provider locked the bootlader, so i can't unlock it... And i was thinking if is there any way or some module to OverClock the CPU.. 'cause i've been searching a lot and i found only Kernels that make possible to OC the phone.. maybe i missed some thread where the info i need is... soo sorry for my english i'm from Argentina!
Nope, you can only overclock with custom kernels, and for that you need to unlock your bootloader, sorry :/
Overclocking is entirely dependent on the kernel . In stock Sony kernel you are not allowed to go past 1 GHz but you can underclock in stock kernel to increase stand by if you aren't a heavy user . To overclock it's always possible with a custom kernel but again nobody will advise you to overclock because it'll probably reduce your CPU's life , I've even seen people entirely busting their CPU by overclocking without prior knowledge. So be careful . You need a custom kernel with overclock support, to install a custom kernel you need a unlocked bootloader.
hit thanks if I've helped!
sent from my smultron
The pros vs cons in OC the cpu on a mobile phone are an depreciable increase of performance vs an shorter cpu life, I used to use my older x10mini pro with OC all in all the general user experience doesn't improve so much to risk the life of the phone.

[Q] Xperia P: Where to start to tweak my XP?

Hi, my name is Antony.
I have a new Xperia P (bought it 2 days ago) and want to tweak some things. I have tried until now
- Brains ROM
- Sliding kernel
- Unlocked my bootloader
But in this combination my device was overheating when in a call, so i decided to flash stock with root.
But now I want to try again a new rom and kernel, but I want opnions on the kernels and roms available, and I need to know how to disable OC in the available kernels. Sorry for my bad english, loving my new device =)
*PS: Not entirely noob, i had X10 3-4 years ago, and had Motorola Defy for a looong time
To disable oc in kernel
Use antutu cpu master

[Q] My doubts with SGP4

I have two andoid devices (MM2 with MS2Ginger 4 Stable v2 and SPKernelRe4 kernel)
and I have the following questions with my SGP4
* What is the best rom and kernel?
* how boot in CWM? (already i use this)
for the little I saw the best are Linrom V2 or [AROMA] DrEaM Ultima (and TerraSilent 1.3.5 kernel)
regards DSR

I know hansthesolo got 2163 in quadrant, but in my experience my quadrant score with Ethereal was 2200-2300 (stock clock) and 2500-2600 (overclocked to 1.2ghz). With IcyFusion I got 1700-1900 (stock) and 2100-2200 (overclocked to 1.2ghz), and since REDD is pretty much the stock rom/kernel with may bug fixes I got 1200-1300 (stock). I haven't tried any of the non-stock based roms because they have bugs that stops them from being daily drivers imo, and I haven't tried roms like Dream Ultima or Klassic Rom, because they have newer version which are Dream Ultra and IcyFusion respectively.
Anyways the best stock based rom in terms of stability is REDD, in terms of performance is Ethereal, and in terms of middle ground is IcyFusion. You get CWM by flashing one of the custom kernels, which you already have, and turn off the device. After that you must power it on and once you see the Samsung logo appear immediately press and hold power + volume up

[Q] kernel performance advice please

Hi All
Welll my parnter ( and now me) have these phone and are loving them.
Hers is on stock rom and rooted plus tweaked and mines on chameleon 3.0.4(hers will be soon too)... We are wondering which kernel is best for OC, performance and battery?
so the question we are asking is simply what is your opinions on the kernels that are available for 4.1.2?
regards

Really hard to determine whether a kernel is better than any other, since it ultimately comes down to how you use your device.
But since you asked no reason not to share my expertise.
first of all, changing any hardware specifics such as OCing is always a bad idea. Not recommended with any kernel, but thats just me.
Alright after checking battery and performance wise I came to the conclusion that i prefer Apolo kernel (for 4.1.2). Apolo kernel definitely has better battery time (for me) and performance wise is nothing bad either, i mean it's been working good for 4 months now.
Basically, my recommendation is Apolo kernel. Try it out, it might be good on your device aswell.

The kernels that are available are dorimanx, apolo and philz.
Philz is just stock with root and recovery. Dorimanx has very good battery efficiency but is no longer actively maintained. Apolo kernel is a good all-rounder kernel. I recommend Apolo 4.15b as it also includes the music bug fix that is not present in any other 4.1.2 kernels.
