Anyone know of any apps or any way that you could have the screen turn on for 5 seconds or something when a new SMS comes in? Love everything about the phone except for the fact there is no notification LED for incoming messages.
The screen does turn on when a new toast pops up

That's very upsetting for me: no led notifications on Nokia Lumia 920, no missed call, no sms, no email notifications, this phone is like blind and mute. If somebody knows some app that could help light the fire, would be nice to post here. Or maybe some dev. could invent something to use the led lights for notifications...

Hi All,
long time reader, first time poster.
I can normally find the answer to any question I have by just looking though the forum or by googling it.
I've only had my HD2 a few months and am very pleased. After over 6 happy years using the XDA2 I thought it was time for a change.
Here's my question. On the XDA2 when a new text message arrived the screen backlight would come on for the set time & the red alert light would flash until I read the text.
With my HD2 this does not happen, so if I don't hear the text message audio alert I don't know I've got a new text.
Can I change my settings to make this happen on the HD2?
I'm on T-mobile, ROM 1.72.110.4, the only none standard thing about the phone is co0kie's home tab.
thanks in advance,
CJ
don't know about screen, but there is quite nice app to blink keypad on missed call, sms, email etc.: LeoExtendedNotifications
this app will let you turn on extended notifications. it does not work with vibration but audio works good. mite have to install it twice, just go to settings-sounds and notifications and turn on all your sounds as this resets them and turn what you want to repeat.

Hello XDA,
I'm fairly new so please excuse me if this has already been addressed or answered. I've searched but haven't found an answer so if there's a post on this, please reply with a link and I'll do the rest.
Okay, when I get a text message, the message alert goes off. But say I'm not with my phone, or in a loud environment, is there a way to get the phone to vibrate and play the alert when I get an sms? Also, is there a way to get the phone to periodically alert me when there is an unread text ? My last phone (GSM HTC Hero) had an LED that would flash. But this phone, the Samsung Vibrant, doesn't have an LED, and apparently no way of letting me know I missed a text message.
If not, is there an app that might provide that functionality?
Thanks in advanced for any reply.

Thank you.
This is exactly what I was looking for. If only it would occasionally vibrate, it would be perfect.
Thanks again.
Look in the Market for SMS Popup. It has a lot of notification options (custom vibrate patterns, notification icon), it can turn on the screen, and it can also remind you in time increments.
If you decide to go this route, be sure to turn off your default messaging notifications, so you dont get double.
Just wondering on this, cos ive read on there that some people got theres working others not. Me i cannot get the LED to work with either handcent on k-9! Anyone? Any work arounds? Same problems? Would be interesting to know. I've flashed several times now and still nothing. x
My LED notifications work but only when the screen is off.
I have handcent set to wake up the screen when a message is received, as soon as the screen turns off the led starts flashing to tell me I've got an unread message.
When I set it not to turn on the screen the led lights up on receiving a message straight away.
I guess this is the way SE intended or the way 2.1 is meant to run...
Yer so someone said. but mines really not working lol. x
LED notifications work fine when the screen's off, this is how it's supposed to be
With K-9 works fine, includind the colors for each email account.
The LED not working for me too .. I even tried to test the LED in the Handcent and no LED was blinking
Any ideas XDAs ?
As far as I tested, notifications are working fine. But I never noticed LED was working only when screen off
Hi,
I picked up on something recently - it seems that if someone Whatsapps me then I get an SMS (or vice-versa) I only get the colour of the first notification I received. So for example, I have my light set to blue with Chomp SMS and green with Whatsapp and I would expect alternating green and blue pulses if I woke up to both; however I will only get blue if an SMS came through first or green for a Whatsapp. I've tried different messaging apps, including stock, to no avail. I've also tried an app called Light Manager which was supposedly designed for the S3 but this just confused my phone and seemed to stop both notification lights entirely.
I can't remember if this occurred before I installed Jellybean or if this is a side-effect because chiefly it is a query my girlfriend has with her new S3 and is not something that worries me too much. She wants to be able to glance at her phone at work and see what each notification is for. It was one of the primary selling points for her over the iPhone.
Can anyone tell me if they have this feature available to them on other firmwares or if they have found a way to make Whatsapp, Mail, SMS etc alternative on the device's LED rather than just sticking on the first colour that comes in?
Cheers folks.

Hi folks,
Is there any way to get decent notifications for messages on the Xperia Z2?
I'm used to old nokias and iphones. If I get a message it plays a sound (if the sound is on) and notifies me on screen. I don't need to turn on and unlock my phone to check if I have a missed message or a missed call.
So far on the Z2 I can just set the vibrate and tone, which is fine if I'm near the phone when I get the message, but if I'm not then I probably won't see it until I unlock the phone to do something, which could be hours later.
Can you set the Z2 to flash the led when there are missed calls/messages, or display something on the screen?
Usability-wise this is right up there with the motorola startac 130, which in my mind is still the most user unfriendly phone in the world.
If this can be done without a root/unlock it would be even better!
you have to activate the LED in setting -> display -> last line (as I can remember)
Try Frozen LED, a free app that let's you control the led notifications.
It let's you set colours and flashing speed for different apps.
Even better is you can set them by name. For example if my wife texts, messages or emails me the led flashes purple 4 times a second. Easy to spot.
