N7005 ROM - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

So today I am dare enough to downloaded a N7005 (ZHLH5) stock rom from SamFirmware, install through Odin.
Of course it would give me "Failed" when updating modem.
Restarted the phone and it works, though not sure what is not. The modem still shows I717UCLF6. Updated APN and it showed "4G" and registered in LTE:14.
Otherwise NFC is not an option. And it seems like tethering works.
Can anyone make a custom rom that can be flashed in CWM? Or I am fine to use the failed flash?

Brother !! i read your post and it inspired me to start researching and come to find out that our phones are almost 100% compatible with that international model !! There are guys overseas working on N7005 roms and we can use them !!!!!!
HOLY FN SH*T !!!!
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::victory::victory::victory::victory:

Actually the ROM is also very fast compared to the AT&T one.
Another thing, I don't seem to be able to change LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode at all.

Can you give the link? What rom where you coming from? What version of android is that rom, ics im assuming?

ICS 4.0.4 N7005ZHLH5. I downloaded from SamFirmware. Compiled in August of this year and released with N7005 in Hong Kong in September along with Note II.

Flashed with odin, just got stuck in a boot loop any ideas how to fix this?

you sure flashed a N7005 rom? or you flashed a N7000 rom?

I flashed the N7005 ROM from Hong Kong: N7005ZHLH5_N7005ZZHLH5_TGY

I am with this...not rooted...completely "stock"

im a N7005 hong kong user, the phone doesnt support nfc,
besides that, it is almost the same as i717,i can flash any i717 rom,
n7005 itself doesnt have developed rom as it only sell in hong kong and singapore
so i am now using paranoidandroid i717 rom

hows the overall smoothness?

You know that is something I've always wondered about... some of you are probably familiar with the "hell raised" ROMs from the SII and Infuse forums... why couldn't something similar be used on this device SGH-I717 ? It would be way beyond my scope but these devs are brilliant minded people for the most part, I would guess it hasn't already been done because it won't work. But for the guy who can't get this N7005 ROM to boot.... what if you tried to flash an I717 kernel (with a recovery) right behind the ROM? Or maybe injected the .boot image into the stock N7005 then flash in Odin?

Id ask ptmr3 to make a rom out of it if its smooth now he can make it fly

You still have RAT restriction in place on the ATT network.
No rom will fix that, as it's a carrier restriction, not device or software ....g

So you are saying that it's AT&T denies the request to change from LTE to H+ to whatever? I had a HTC Inspire 4G, and I was able to change it to GSM only on AT&T network from HSPA+.

Serial Number shows "Unknown" - Various ROMs

Something I just noticed was my SGS2 shows an unknown serial number when looking at the phone info. The IMEI is correct, but not the s/n field.
Is this the usual thing to see when running custom ROMs? Does that affect anything with the Android market, etc?

Because I want to ship my phone back to AT&T for a warranty replacement and my serial # is unknown which I think would be a problem.

Have you tried to revert it back to GB instead of ICS? If your phone originally came with GB, you should give it a try.

I will give it a try and report back. I'm just gonna flash uckh7 stock root with Odin right?
Didn't work. Couldn't get past the setup wizard because it kept glitching
I am out of ideas now or you may try what andreivibefm suggested to install an ICS bootloader. But as far as I have read so far from the net, it isn't recommended. You have to be extra careful for flashing a bootloader. Sorry can't help you here and good luck!
I actually finally got GB uckh7 on my phone working and I don't think the serial number is even available in the settings. The only way to read the serial number is to look at the sticker behind the battery.
All in all this works and I will ship tomorrow! Thanks!
I'm also with the OP. My phone also shows an unknown serial number. No big deal, but it would be interesting to know what causes this... Could this somehow have been caused by a previous ROM or kernel we've had on our phones, or must it be somehow caused by the current ROM or kernel?

The kies UCLE5 release that can be downloaded from SamMobile Firmware or Samsung Updates contains boot.bin (but not sbl.bin). I wondered why that was included in the distribution. I left the boot.bin out when I packaged up the UCLE5 Stock plus Root package. I could make boot.bin into a standalone tar if anyone wants to try flashing it to see if it corrects the serial number issue. At your own risk, of course.

This will be my first Samsung phone. Coming from HTC. I know with HTC you can unlock the bootloader and them flash custom roms without having to root. Can this be done (yet) with the Samsung S3? Or is rooting the simplest way to flash roms when they come available? Until a few good ones come out I may keep my new shinny S3 unrooted.

No OTA jellybean update? Possible incorrect csc/software? SOLVED

I have previously rooted my 3uk branded phone then flashed the latest (at the time) UK unbranded official software.
Now my phone keeps telling me they are no updates available, but as we all know, jelly bean is now available here in the UK for unbranded handsets.
Is something wrong? Please look at my screen shots for software version, csc, baseband etc and let me know if they is some reason why I am not getting the OTA update.
Thanks for your time,

I'm pretty much still a noob so don't take me too seriously.
I read some unrooting and stock re flashing is required for ota or Kies upgrade. Your screen shots look pretty much like mine before upgrade and I got it upgraded even with root. But I never flashed a custom rom so I could not tell if there is anything special.
I would suggest to look for the stock rom your device came with and wipe it clean following the procedures you can find on this Web.
I cannot recall where exactly was the post from chainfire providing details on rooting and unrooting. But it shouldn't be too hard to find for looking for cf-root related threads with "chainfire" on them.
Good luck.

Hi and big thanks for your kind response, much appreciated.
I have solved my problem now, I had managed to wipe, unroot, re lock and reset the counter to make my phone "stock unbranded" but, the problem for me, I had not changed my csc code. My code was for another country which is why ota update and kies would not work. I did not know about csc codes until now.
All I did to solve the ota update and kies was...
1. I search Google play for app to change the csc (can't remember the name of it)
2. Installed the app.
3. Changed the csc code to BTU which is the csc code for UK unbranded handsets, unfortunately this process also reset the phone.
As soon as I did this I had an update waiting, the one before 4.1.1 so I installed it. After I checked software and it said I had another update waiting but, basically I had to join the que, so I connected my phone to kies (worked 1st time) and the 4.1.1 update installed without any issues.
Just wanted to keep you updated and I hope this post helps others
Cheers again

Omega is one of the EASY ones. DATA WORKS WITH CORRECT APN SETTINGS PERIOD!
Not going into details here...but
Back up current rom
Wipe dalvik/cache/data
Flash Omega
before you boot Omega, flash YOUR kernel from here
Reboot
Add Verizon apn settings manually
Reboot
Enjoy!
What did not work?

I would love to try this but the verizon backup assistant thing scares me. Basically I can't turn this off from the verizon end. I would love to know what kind of messages I will get if that is not turned off. Does it keep coming?
I'd still like to see proof and exact steps with data working. I've tried multiple times and it was a no go so I would suggest VZW users not waste their time until someone confirms data is a go.
Edit: Appears Sprint users are having the same problem. Sorry bro, but you are acting like you personally tried these ROMs on various devices when the fact is that you can only speak for the AT&T variant. Just because stuff is working for you does NOT mean it will work for CDMA users.

I'm stuck and need MAJOR HELP

Ok. I have now flashed back to JellyBean 4.1.2 on my sim unlocked Rogers note i717r.
I need to root this phone. I was given a link to follow. Seemed easy enough. Installed cwm, then did superuser. No root.
I tried to odin in a pre rooted kernel, it stuck me at Samsung screen.
I have flashed back to the stock 4.1.2. will be doing a factory reset here in moments.
I need to get this rogers phone working on mobilicity. so far the only success I have had was on Gingerbread firmware, but the phone was running so slow on that.
I believe I need to change the modem, but everything hinges on me rooting this damned phone. Nothing I have followed has worked!
Edit: wiped phone completely, got roaming network with my mobilicity sim in....had this before
Edit 2: I have bell, telus and Canadian roaming as my networks in my network operators

i'm in cm10.
it's showing mobilicity as a network operator. i'm currently trying to get it to register on the network, fingers crossed!
edit: didn't allow me to register on mobilicity, but at least i see it, that's something at least!
edit 2: when i try to register on mobil, its telling me my SIM card doesn't allow for a connection to this network.
should i flash another modem instead?
edit 3: i have an H network! i had 3G for like a second, lmao.

That combination doesn't work on some modem. I can't tell you exactly which ones tho'.
Go here and see read up you might find something helpful.
If you google xda for i717 stock roms there's a link here with a bunch of Roms and modems that you can test.
Or basically just flash a de-bloated stock rom and see if your device can be registered on target network. Good luck!
