meanrom and play store - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

anyone know why i cannot bill to my sprint bill on the play store with MeanRom 6.0?

Sign into your Google account and give it a few hours to detect you're on Sprint and the option should reappear
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

i thought that option was removed by sprint.

No sir, Sprint's one of the longest carriers that allowed billing through them for Google Play purchases. I believe Verizon joined the list now though.

As an alternative to Google Wallet, you can have your purchases billed directly to your mobile carrier. This option is available in the US for Sprint and T-Mobile, and in Japan for Docomo, KDDI, and Softbank.

As for the OP's question: it usually takes a while (for the store to recognize you have a Sprint account). It happened to me once when I used ViperROM for the first time and then again when I switched over to CM10. I can't say exactly when it came back because I didn't pay that much attention to it. Eventually, it will show up as long as you're on a Sprint network.

Im running the bad seed rom and I have the bill to my sprint account option.

been on MeanRom for over a week and the option still isnt there.

Yeah i guess it isn't that big of a deal, i really love MeanRom and the performance and battery life of it. It is the only problem i am having with Meanrom is the pay by sprint bill i think i can survive. I guess i just wanted to have my cake and eat it to

i have tried a whole fresh install of MeanRom tonight, with no avail still no option also tried clearing market data and framework data...... nothing.
is anyone on meanrom able to bill to sprint on their device or is it just me?

Running mean rom, no issues with play store. Maybe not a full wipe?

I always fully wipe, gonne try viper this morning and see if it gives me the same issue.

That sucks you should have gotten the option by now. Worked on bad seed

Works on stock w goodies now for me now as well. Have u added a card to Google wallet? U can pay that way.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

ok so i reflashed Meanrom just a few min ago and this would have been the third flash ive done in like 2 days, finally the option is back.
Thanks for all your responses

U know I flashed stock w goodies and was having this issue again. I believe what is happening is your phone changes names when u flash a new rom. I.E.- titanium backup asks u if u would like to keep previous name or use new name. That's after factory reset anyways.
Well I got the playstore not allowing me to charge to account. I got it working again by updating profile and prl (prl not necessary, but do it anyways) in settings. Then I deleted data and cache in settings/apps/playstore, after that force stop playstore. Restart phone normally then u should be able to bill to account.
Just for future reference I suppose.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

keep trying. i had to go into app settings and clear cache/data in google play and google play services, then restart, then update prl and profile, (like someone else mentioned here) then try. It will show up. Had to do those things several times for it to work. Try try again if at first you dont succeed. Good luck!

[Q] NooB Question - Rom Selection Necessary???

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for this odd question but I am new to the community, I am thinking of purchasing the Thunderbolt because I can get the unlimited data. I want to root the device so I can use Wireless Tether or something like it to use my PC or as a hotspot (like the built in app). Do I have to load a custom ROM to do that after I go through the Root process?
What is everyone using for the Wireless Tether that works well. I am tired of Starbucks Crappy WiFi
Thanks in Advance and sorry if this is the wrong forum!!!
No rom required for that...just S-OFF and an app d/l!

actually you wouldn't even need to root. You can use the mobile hotspot. Just tell the rep when you buy the tbolt to sign you up for free. Theres a promo going until may 14ish that enables new tbolt buyers to get mobile hotspot for free.
App d/l?
Which app would everyone use and the s-off is part of the root process correct?

again you don't need an app. It's built into the settings. But if you want to go the hard way just search tether after you root. If you're only rooting for tethering thats kind of a weak reason. But to each his own.

I think getting wireless tether is like the "gateway app". Haha. That was the main reason I decided to root when I got an Incredible last year. Then I found a whole new world of possibilities and my desires changed. If you search the market you will find software for wireless tether, as mojonation1487 said. However, like (s)he also said, Hotspot is free until May 14th so you might want to try that before you hassle with rooting/modding. But I am willing to bet that after you play around with the phone and the options you have once rooted, you will end up flashing roms/mods. Enjoy the Tbolt!
Edit: (these posts add up fast) - I was told that I have to call on the 14th to remove Hopstop unless i want to be charged the $20/month....

I feel like its worth mentioning that the Mobile Hotspot app itself actually states that the service is free for a limited time. A dialog box pops up with this message when you turn on the service.

bamf 1.5 remix is sicktight until cm7 is at least at a release candidate state. Then I would definitely recommend that.
i have liked bamf 1.5 remix and tesla coil. BAMF still hase sense but tesla coil gives you a small taste of stock android.
try storm to start with - its the fastest rom around and i have tried them all. Chingy, the dev, was famous in the inc community for making stock roms go like rockets - goes well with lte speeds.
also this is not a dev thread. OP, please request the mods to move it to General or Q&A section

I talked to a rep today and it sounds like the phone itself is not limited to usage on 4G, but you're limited to 2GB when using VZW's hotspot app (for the $20 a month). Does this sounds like what everyone else gathered? If this is true, then perhaps using wireless tether other than VZW would have the added benefit of the phone's "unlimited" plan.

Grand Theft Auto 3 incompatible with Evo3D? (Sideloaded Market v3.44)

Just moved to the evo 3d from a nexus s 4g. The device had an older market on it for a couple days without an update so I loaded the latest market, v3.44 I believe.
Anyway, Im being told that GTA3 is incompatible with my device. Is this due to the market I installed, not being original? Asking because I guess I just assumed that this particular title would be compatible. Thanks!
yeah they made it incompatible even though it runs great on it.
you can either download some app, i dont know what its called.. something like market unlocker or something that tricks the market to download things not flaged for your devices..
some people bought it on their 4G, TI-backed it and restored on their 3D and some people did the google thing, either way it runs well.

[Q] Pull down menu problems

I just got my phone and most of the time when receiving a email I'll pull down the menu and it keeps going back up automatically. After trying like 3 times it finally stays down. Does anyone else has this issue?
Not to insult your intelligence or anything but are you pulling the bar all the way down? When I was on GB if I didn't pull it all the way down it'd wonk out on me and shoot back up if I did it too fast.

I had the same issue on GB. I head to drag it almost all the way down to the bottom of the screen. Now on ICS I can just flick the bar downwards and it does the rest.

Yes I pull it all the way down like 3 times then if lucky it will stay down. After reading emails the pull down menu works fine. The work arounds I found is to put my finger at the top of screen and quickly flick downward then it will stay. With my old phone using it's default rom and Cyanogenmod 7, this never happend. The second work around is to use a small app called, One Click Status Bar. Place it on the home screen and when it's tapped the menu drops down.

Your phone must be rooted to have ICS. I'm debating on doing this because I like using CyanogenMod. One of the problems with rooted phones is that the market doesn't recognize the phone and paid apps disappear and it force closes alot.

I flash around a lot usually spending about a couple weeks on different Roms to test and compare features and I can say I never had a problem with Google play ever recognizing any of my paid apps.
The force closes on the other hand do happen, but very rarely if you run a good rom, and don't do anything you're not supposed to

When a phone is rooted the Google server no longer knows what device is being used. You can check this out by logging into Google wallet and look under your device list. You'll also notice that some apps show up for different os like with gingerbread and some don't for ics. After rooting the server doesn't know what apps work with the phone and at times makes some of your paid apps disappear and preventing potential future downloads.

Very true, I apologize. But you must realize that this site EXISTS for the simple idea that we, the members of it(evidently not all of them), do not want our phones stock.
The only support you'll get from a stock ROM, is from the at&t store.
and the "was not" was meant that way. I feel its a stronger form of the word rather than wasn't
This discussion got troublesome and way, way off topic.
But the bottom line is man, if you want to stay stock, there's really nothing we can do, other than advise to wipe data/factory reset via 3e recovery.
What you may have thought you knew about issues that come by rooting your phone, are maybe 1 in a 100, and most likely caused by the person themselves.
There are a few ROM's that are based on at&t "official" leaks. but there rooted.

I think you may be confusing some of your facts. That may hold true for some unbranded chinese tablets running ICS. Those ROMs have to operate as a brand name "something else" just to get market to recognize the device.
The same is not true with our phones. Root away! The issues you're concerned about do not exist on name brand android devices.

[Q] google maps/navigation issue

Hey all,
Having a little trouble here with maps/navigation. Almost everytime i open the app and start a navigation somewhere i get the message "maps has stopped." The weird thing is that the voice will still talk to you and i can still see the navigation notification in the drop down menu.
once i click on the navigation app, however, it disappears and i must reopen it. Maps works just fine alone, but when i tell it to navigate sometimes the graphics will get glitchy and and will give me the error mentioned above. It seems like all of this started after I flashed the JellyBam 3.1 ROM with the komodo kernel...and just for the record i never got the komodo to work (almost everything force closed with it installed).
Now even after flashing various other AOKP and going back to sense ROMs, my navigation/maps app still closes on me and gets glitchy. ive already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
It is an EVO 4G LTE hardware version 0003, S-OFF
Any help would be greatly appreciated
It's a known issue with Jelly Bean, not any particular ROM. Navigation apparently eats up huge gobs of memory until it eventually kills itself. I suggest an alternate navigation app. I'm using Waze and I like it.

As stated, its unfortunately a known issue....seems to be nav eating up memory and crashing itself...I dealt with it for a while just like yourself and finally resolved it by going into a sprint store and they acknowledged an issue and my refurb replacement doesn't have the issue...my personal opinion is that it has to do with what batch of phone you have (mine was a release day phone)...no fix in sight...only options are try getting replacement phones til you get a more recent build phone (no way to tell besides activation date in ##786# menu) or try telenav or waze as many have done...good luck and hope that helps and let us know what you decide to do...

Oh okay so its a JellyBean issue. That makes more sense now that i think about the timing of everything. I was running ICS roms before flashing jellyBAM. Thats a relief because i was think i may have messed something up permanently by flashing that komodo kernel.
I think ill either run an ICS rom or just use a different nav program. Dont really feel like going through the process of unrooting only to deal with whatever shenanigans sprint has waiting for me if i were to request a refurb
EDIT: btw good call on the waze...this app is awesome!

Yea it sux if you're trying to run a jb based Rom (ics roms were I did too for a while) but somewhere along the way the phones have a tiny manufacturing difference newer/older build wise (at least I believe so) and can't handle the jellybean update reliably...using another nav app obviously defeats running a clean uncluttered phone but it'll have to do til someone/htc/google fix whatever is causing the nav issue...IF they ever do.

If it is a batch issue, it isn't as simple as old vs. new. I have a release day phone and haven't had any issues with Google nav and Jelly Bean.
I have a release day phone and currently had it crash 4+ times on a drive home last night, running jb as well, very weird
This happened to me, so I uninstalled maps, reinstalled from market, and the glitch has not reappeared.

That's interesting also...I think you and maybe a handful of other users have had luck doing that and having success. Looks like it'll probably be an issue that won't be fixed except by getting funtional replacement phone IF the store goes through with it for whoever does have the issue.

Well sounds like there isnt anymore talk of getting a fix for this. Looks like I am going to have to pay the $50 for a refurbished phone... This is a hardware/software issue I think Sprint/HTC should be replacing the phone at no cost even without TEP. /endrant

Ill be surprised to hear that they charge you for it...they shouldn't...just tell em the truth, the update screwed navigtion up along with other issues, and you want to get a phone with the older software on it to have a functional phone....when you get it, just unlock and don't update your hboot and read up on how to get jb on it with older hboot (like I have my phone now) to see if nav works.. if it doesn't then you'll still have the option of going back to older ruu before jb...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I'm surprised this is related to memory. In my experience, and I've had the app freeze/crash since Feb. update, the issue is just related to navigation when in 3D mode. If you tap the compass in top left to lock north to up (put nav in top-down mode), it does not crash. Seems to be directly related to 3D rendering.
I hate using the map in that mode, but none of the other map programs give as good a quick overview of local traffic as google nav. Waze is close, but the UI is more cluttered.
Anyway, if you still want to use google nav on JB, just tap the compass before it crashes, and it will keep that setting for future navigation.
I just think it is unbelievable that Navigation has been broken for so long and Google is doing nothing to fix it. Since the JB update, Maps has been updated at least twice, as recent as this week, and it is still broken. The issue is quite widespread. By looking at the Maps reviews on Google Play, if you filter by phone, almost every review by EVO LTE users says the same.

Is there a root method for Verizon One Max on 4.4.2?

Yesterday I updated my Verizon HTC One Max to 4.4.2 via OTA update. Is it possible to root this phone on that firmware? I am asking because I'm reading conflicting information on root only available for 4.3 devices but then I have seen people selling 4.4.2 rooted on eBay. Please someone guide me. Thanks in advance!
Also I am interested in ROOT only. I don't want to flash any custom roms or anything. Thanks.
Did you try towelroot?
Try a program called sunshine. It will get you on the right track. It does cost $25, but it works.
Thats the way I had to go sunshine 25.00 I tried everything else and nothing worked for me but that program for the OTA sense 6
I'm going to be in the same boat tomorrow. Finally putting my rezound to rest and getting a one max and keeping my verizon unlimited. Looking to root, debloat, and wifi tether.
Assuming the phone I'm going to look at will be updated to the latest... if this program works and is easy for $25 bucks... sweet. I have modified mogul, incredible, thunderbolt, and rezound without paying much besides donating or puying a few pro versions of apps. Mainly just rooted and flashed debloated stock roms. Nothing heavy.

I have modified mogul, incredible, thunderbolt, and rezound without paying much besides donating or puying a few pro versions of apps. Mainly just rooted and flashed debloated stock roms. Nothing heavy.

Likewise, just bought a VZW OneMax off Swappa and will be here on Thursday. I don't mind supporting developers who create quality apps/ROMS for us. Well worth it!
So...I haven't tried anything yet. Just got the phone and did a factory reset. Its 4.4.2 sense 6.0 3.09.605.2 (verizon obviously)
I'm really just looking for a stock rooted rom, that is debloated, or that I can erase a bunch of dumb apps myself. Then just need to add wifi tether.
I have messed with these things before but the last time was when i got the incredible, tbolt, and rezound on their launch days... so its been awhile. haha
Wondering what type of things I should be gathering for running the sunshine?
Is this what I am to expect???
1. run sunshine
2. install twrp
3. flash this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768021
4. Enjoy?? ha

Only 3.5 Hours from first sitting down with the phone, to figure out how to do all that work, and having all of the apps installed and in their place. Now to find a wifi tether app that works (or figure out the "wifi tether" app settings) and not let the OCD get to me of having an extra set of icons on every screen. I've had the same 4x4 home screen layouts for years. Rest easy Rezound.
Thanks for all the help. Appreciate it!!

I didn't try the red "mobile hotspot" app.... and I deleted it thru titanium backup without saving a backup first
I always used "wifi tether for root users" on the rezound and tbolt. I know it was finicky with the order that you checked all of the different settings. Once you figured out the order and things to check, it works flawlessly. I'm not picky though and will use whatever tether app that works...
Must. Use. Slingbox. At. Cabin.

Derp dirty flash that Rom again. That app was wide open for use. You don't need to mess with root hotspot apps.
