Have had my touchpad since the fire sale and all of a sudden an entire posrtion of the screen has completely stopped working. From the action button all the way up to the camera, about an inch wide. It does this in webos and aneroid. Anyone else experience this? I guess I'm gonna have to send it in for repair to Hp, but I'm wondering if its even worth it. Anyone else here send theirs in for repair? Was it a hassle? Expensive?

I had an atrix given to me today from a friend who got a new one.
The screen looks crystal clear and works fine. The phone has no visible signs of abuse. Everything looks good.
The top 1/3 of the screen just will not respond to touch. I tried a factory reset to see if it was an app conflict and it's still the same.
I downloaded a kid's drawing app to get an idea of what part of the screen was out and EVERYTHING is working except for about the top inch.
Any ideas? Is this hardware or some software flaw in the phone. The person still has insurance until the end of this month and I can pay the 100 to get a replacement.
Sounds like a problem with the digitizer so you might need to replace it. The digitizer is a very common issue with the Atrix and MANY people here have had their phone replaced two or three times simply because some parts of their screen stop responding to touches.
Thanks. Was hoping it was a software issue. But as I said, it was a free phone. Maybe I can sell it as parts on ebay. I don't really want it bad enough to pay the 100 replacement fee.
If I were you, I'd avoid the Atrix because there is no guarantee that it won't happen again even if you replace the digitizer or get a replacement. This phone could be Motorola's worst phone, quality-wise.
you can purchase one on ebay.

I am really afraid of this problem. I hope it doesn't die on me before my contract is finished. Atrix will be my last Motorola phone.
I've had my Transformer Prime for a few months now and had slight workarounds for it, but it's gotten to a point where I can't ignore it anymore, as it seems to be getting worse.
Basically, in certain apps, and also occasionally on the home screen and app drawer screen, the top 1/3 of the screen doesn't respond to touch at all. This can be a huge problem since a lot of buttons are located up there, and the only way I'm able to get to them is if I use the keyboard.
I have done a few factory resets and a cold boot, and the problem still comes up. I've also noticed some light bleeding in the same area, so I don't know if that adds anything.
I really don't want to RMA this, as I've read about horror stories of people's primes being damaged or taking forever to be fixed, so is there any alternate way of fixing it? Or is it best to take the plunge and RMA it.
Thanks in advance!
RMA.
RMA I think is your only option. Or you can try to take it back to the retailer and see if they will replace it. I've learned over the years that Best Buy accidental damage coverage is worth it... Brick your device... unbrick it by accidentally dropping it out the car window. Take it to Best Buy and they give you a new one. lol
If you want to open your tablet yourself and not risk an RMA chances are the cable that connects the digitizer to the rest of the tablet is loose... its not a very secure connection.
If you take like a plastic toothpick or something of the like under the two slots beside the dock connecter you can slide them sideways.
Then take a guitar pick or plastic pry tool and use it to seperate the screen from the back. There are lots of videos on youtube how to do this safely.
Once you have the prime in two parts, butterfly it open and you will notice two ribbon cables that attach the screen to the back of the prime. One of these is for the display, one is for the digitizer. Make sure both are properly attached. Be careful with them as they are delicate and do not take bending well, however you have to firmly press them into their slots.
Check out the "opened my prime" thread for pictures and more info how to open your prime. If you dont have physical damage im pretty sure this is the cause as i had the same problem after opening my prime, however fixed it by making sure the cables were connected properly.
Does anybody know what oem screen the 80 g9 uses? My girlfriend dropped her tablet and if they don't cover it under warranty I am confident I can replace the screen, I just need to know where to find one. I went to Ali Baba, and all I could find were complete tablets. A google search turned up nill as well. Has anybody had their tablet apart and noted the serial for their screen? I don't want to crack it open just yet because we may be sending it in for a repair but if they won't do it for free I'd love to be able to find one on my own. Thank you for your time.

Hi, I know of no OEM manufacturers, however I am considering selling/scrapping my tablet for parts. The screen is in perfect condition. How much are you looking to pay?

Is it a turbo? Because if it's a turbo the screen may draw too much power or might require more ram than my poor little bugger has. I understand that the turbos ship with a brighter higher resolution screen but it might be here-say.
What's the problem with your tablet is it bricked or are you just tired of having it?
The oem manufacturer for the screens in the 80 g9 are innolux, however I can't find where to buy them wholesale.
Customer service is atrocious and only want to have my girlfriend spend $120 to send it in and have their techs replace the screen. I don't see why they can't just tell me where I can get the screen myself. Or offer to sell me the part, considering they'd make more money selling me the part with shipping than paying the poor bastard to replace the screen but oh well.
I'm currently in a bidding war on Ebay on a tablet but I'd be more than happy if you could pm me what you want for the tablet.
Also sorry for the delayed response, I'm having trouble setting up this forum to notify me when there is a comment on the thread.

Yes, i have the turbo. 80G9. My girlfriend bumped it while it was charging on a table, it hit the floor screen up and landed on carpet. It only fell about 3 feet, but with the short heavy USB cable and cheap connector point, the micro-USB port snapped right off. Everything else is in tact, and it still turns on, the charger is the only issue. I did take the case apart to see if I could solder it back on, however it has 3 tiny mount points, and I dont think i have the equipment or skills to do that. It still turns on with the screen unclamped (every cord is plugged in) but it only has about 8% battery in it, so I'm gonna save that to either wipe the hard drive from recovery, or sell it for parts.
I'm not sure if the screen requires more power. Do you know if it actually does or not? I had the 1ghz version and the turbo doesn't appear to be any brighter.
Hey Shano I pm'd you.
I sent u another PM, message me back if u get it..
I need HELP!
Hey guys! I need to replace my broken screen from my Archos 80 G9 turbo HDD. How and where to find a new one? Could you help me? Please!!!! :crying:
Hey guys I bought a used note 2 VZW
long story short the screen was busted and I repaired it, the screen is unresponsive to touch (it will respond
but it's very iffy usually having to tap on the screen pretty hard to get it to recognize the finger.) it was spazzing out too
with nothing else touching the screen i turned on show pointer location and it was moving extremely rapidly up and down
the left side of the screen.
but when the S-Pen is removed and used it works fine.
the replacement part i used was for the VZW model number i605/L900 is it possible the replacement part had a bad digitizer?
all pins/connecters were seated with care. it worked fine for about 3 weeks, then Bam. no dice, any way if anyone is interested
in it pm me, i've got a note 3 on order from BestBuy.
I'm giving up on buying used and repairing them, i'd rather buy new at discounted prices. than pay near full price (including replacement
parts repair it and it still be screwed.)
Hey guys,
Just a quick question. I've got one of the first release Huawei mate 10 pros. Dropped it from about a hip height onto tile, no visible crack or damage to the exterior or screen but since then I haven't been able to use the touch screen.
I get a bit of the slide from the bottom and everything else works but I can't actually use the screen because I can't swipe patterns or type in, it's basically a dead screen, but if the whole screen was out of commission I wouldn't get any slide action at all.
Need the phone for work, any quick responses with experience in the area would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
I'd say its definitely hardware related, as in broken.
You'd have to get it replaced.
Even if you get no cracks the digitizer can be broken.
Aw man, I was really hoping there was some sort of software bug that was causing this, well I'll stay hopeful that this has happened to someone else until I have to claim the warranty

It has happened to me (sort of), but I got a crack and the touch screen below the crack didn't work at all, top part worked fine. Or vice versa, can't remember but one part was still working. This was on a Samsung though.
And on an iPhone the screen completely shattered, but touch was working fine. So the digitizer wasn't hurt there, but it still required a touch + digitizer replacement as they are glued together.
If there's no crack, then it might also be a loose connector. But even so, you would need technical assistance.
If the warranty is still valid and there are no visible signs or scratches from that fall, maybe Huawei will repair it for free.
Yeah I'll be following it up with optus because it's still on a plan. I shattered and bent my mate 9 and as soon as there was a crack the digitizer went. Might as well use the warranty because if I open it up myself it'll void it for future use.
Thanks for your input guys.
