[Q] Increse system partition galaxy S2G - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I would like to increase the stock rom (version 4.0.4) system partitions.
How can I do that?
Thank in advanace

bump

no, if you tried you would end up bricking your phone. Playing with the partitioning on phone is only done in extereme cases to fix a soft bricked phone. Not to gain extra space.
use an external sdcard and transfer files to that.

Thank you, If put a cyamogen rom is it going to solve the issue?

what issue are you trying to resolve. more information is need.

It's said that the system partition is full because the system partition on SGS2 is 512MB and i would like to increase it to 1024MB

[Q] Change internal memory partition?

I'm running Liquid Smoth 3.1, and noticed the internal memory (for apps and such) is separated from the internal SD. Can we increase the internal memory allocation? I don't recall if this was common or not before I installed the ROM.
Still no solution found...

This is how old Samsung used as a separated partition(2GB/Remaining space) structure.
I could confirm that newer models only have one partition.
I had researched days of searches and still did NOT find confirmed easy solutions like flashing ZIP files.
(My research -> Link)
I REALLY DO wish someone could guide me a solution to repartition as one total 16GB(Like newer Galaxy)
or expending 2GB system partition to any bigger size.
I still did NOT find the solution and still looking.
The only last method I did not try - Working with ADB command which I need to consider to brick my phone.
But this is my primary phone that I use.
Even worse, KitKat ROM(I am using beanStalk ver 4.4.4001) does not allow to use App2SD function.
I have to manage all of my apps+data+decent space within 2 GB limitation even if I have 11GB available
space as an Internal Storage (NOT External SD).
Hope it helps and let you know you are in same boat with me.
Once again, I wish there is an easy solution who could help us!
Any Update??
HI, has anyone found a solution? ty

[Q] Galaxy S2 Questions about OS partitions and custom roms

Hello.
My Father has a Galaxy S II , and he is always complaining that his phone is low on space.
The phone is 16GB and has another 16GB MicroSD card.
Most of his on-board integrated 16GB is free, and his MicroSD card is almost completely empty, the problem is that this phone has a very small Android OS 2GB partition, and every time he installs an app it always leaves something on the OS partition (even after manually moving every possible app to SD using the built in Move To SD, and placing all photos and videos on MicroSD). So even with very few Apps installed his phone is always begging for space since essentially he can only make use of 2GB of his 32GB of storage.
So I have considered maybe the best way to fix this his issue, is to install a Custom ROM on his phone, which only contains 1 Single Partition for the integrated 16GB of storage space, and another partition for the 16GB of MicroSD storage.
Thus eliminating the limited 2GB OS partition. (basically make it like every new Android phone since the galaxy S2)
I have never used a custom Android ROM so this is new to me ( i am more familiar with PC's).
So my primary question before I start looking for info and procedures on rooting and custom roms for this phone is as follows:
IS it possible to even install a new android OS on this phone which will have only one primary partition, or is this phone forever destined to only work as it is now with a small 2GB OS partition? In other words is there a hardware limitation which prevents this phone from addressing more than 2GB for its OS partition?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can repartition the phone using a modified PIT file. You will be able to increase the Data partition to avoid the "out of space" when installing or updating apps. The tradeoff is to have a smaller internal SD partition.
I have done it to my S 2.
There is a thread with clear instructions on how to do it. You will have to learn to use Odin, but that will be very useful as long as you have Samsung phones.

Thanks for the info.
Would it not be easier to just format the phone and start from scratch by installing a new custom Android OS ?
Will starting from scratch with a new OS allow me to set my partitions (just like on a PC) ?
Thanks again.

No. You must use the Odin / Pit file to modify partition sizes.
And yes, that assumes you will flash a new rom.

Don't forget to mention that re-partitioning your phone will delete all data so do a backup!!!!!

Well said.
I did not mention it because it is the first step in the instructions.
But it is never too much to repeat. Backup! Backup! Backup!

About system memory and data recovery

hi guys, my English is not very good, but I will try to ask you a question to help
I have a galaxy s3.
16 GB internal memory, 5 GB partition reserved for the system
There are 11 gb usable space(stored pictures, music and applications).I erased a few pictures from this area.
I have android 4.1.2 software fix for that, but I gave my phone for repair and the new 4.1.2 ROM has been installed.
and then I did completely fill the usable space(11gb)
and I'll ask you a few questions to help
1)I hope my pictures which deleted maybe can be free(such as /cache) area in 5 gb(can not be used)
Is it possible that something?
2)Does the software(android) is always installed same memory partition?what is pit file? and emmc chip?
3)ıf ı do root ,how much memory ı can scan?(11 or 16 gb)
4)if ı will scan diskdigger after doing root,How much memory scans(11 gb or 16 gb)?
5)İs data recoverable after have make wipe data /factory reset and wipe cache partition?
6)What installed 5 GB area can not be used ?I think OS does not take up that much space. Is there a free space in this area(5gb)?
I think 3rd party data recovery software can not recover one times overwritten data?(RECUVA,ANDROİD DATA RECOVER)
Is it true that?
7)CAN I RECOVER MY VİDEO AND PİCTURE ?
Thank you in advance to everyone who helped
Search and read for the hundreds of other posts, you can dump the entire partition to your pc and then use software to scan.
Your files are almost certainly gone, I've not heard a single person who got anything back.
I checked it. Are not same status
Help please

Bricked ED88

Hi,
I have a MTK6575 tablet which is now bricked after trying to resize the data partition with Meos app. Its name is ED88 and it has 512mb ram and 4gb of internal storage.
Essentially I can enter in recovery console but there is not much I can really do there... I tried to restore the user data backup I took before resizing but it does not help, I guess that's not supposed to help with the partition problems. Just wondering is there some sort of tool that would help me to redo the partitioning... or any other way to fix that...
The USB connector is broken but I was able to solder the power pins, just good enough to charge the battery. So, I am looking for a solution based on microSD flashing.
Many thanks for any suggestion.
Sorry for the bump...
Anyone can tell what options I have to repair the data partition by injecting a ZIP'd script on microSD?
Thanks.

Allview P5 Life MTK8382 Internal Storage

Hey there!! Maybe you can give me some advice on how I can modify the partition system on this device. The internal storage has 2 partitions, one of 0.98GB and the other of 4.94GB. The problems is only the small one can be used for apps. Is there anyway in which I can increase the size of the small partition?? The device is rooted and I have TWRP installed on it. If you need any new information ask me. Thank you friends.
