I have a Huawei Ascend G300 running Gingerbread. I've noticed a strange problem involving the memory.
The other day, my launcher kept restarting every time I pressed the home button. So I checked the running services and very few things were running. When I looked at the memory bar at the bottom however, it said 57mb used/1mb free. This device has 512mb of RAM supposedly, so something is obviously wrong here.
Since then, I have been checking the RAM usage bar in running services more often, and adding the used and free values together. From this I've noticed that the amount of total RAM varies wildly, I've seen values between 220 and 350. My RAM seems to just disappear and reappear randomly.
Does anyone know why my RAM could be disappearing like this?

Hello!
I've had the atrix for a couple of days now, and have noticed that some ram is disappearing.
I use advanced task killer, but I don't have it set to autokill. Instead, I just press the widget as a kill button occasionally throughout the day. I haven't modded the application to kill certain things, or to not kill certain things. It is functioning just as it is downloaded.
So in the morning, after a fresh restart, i pressed the kill switch and i had 550 mb of ram (roughly). This was constant for a few hours. then around lunch time, i pressed kill switch and i had 460 something. Than now around dinner time I have only 370 something mb of ram.
Is there something that I'm missing? Like system apps opening throughout the day that are unaffected by task killer?
Anyone have any advice as to managing apps because the atrix (and motoblur) try to run a lot of them.
Also, I thought this phone has 1 GB of ram. I guess some of it is tied up in things behind the curtain
Check the ram usage on your computer, install a few programs that have services that run, then look at your ram usage.
Same thing.
regarding the ram usage. I cant figure out what the phone is doing with 500mb of ram all the time. This os is able to run on other android devices with only 512mb of ram and consistently have 200-300 free mb of ram. What is the Atrix doing with all that ram?
being prepared for docking...
Webtop/media center/ etc...

RAM not used is analogous to RAM not present in a way.
Android loads and keeps apps ready in memory for quick launch times. They are just loaded and kept, 0 CPU usage for any of them.
If u want to know more, check the thread 'android memory management' (link in my signature).
[Q] Free ram 0.0bytes android 4.1.2 [low memory msg for all apps & frequent crash]
Hi!
I bought iball andi 5li android smart phone a few days back. The configuration of the phone is:
512mb ram
4gb internal
1.2ghz cortex a9 processor
android 4.1.2
Although my device runs almost every app out there (including temple run, subway surfers etc.) but occasionally im facing problems.
problem occurs after 3-4 days of restarting the phone.
when i restart and check the ram usage it says 350 mb (approx) as used and 150mb(approx) as free ram every app runs smoothly but as days pass by gradually the free ram starts decreasing down to 30 mb where all the apps (games and browsers) start crashing with a low memory message. then the conditions get worse after approx 2 hrs free ram is now 0.0 bytes and even the launcher, settings etc crash with a low memory message. The only solution out is to restart the phone.
[used androids before and is quite aware of closing or killing apps but none is working]
Already Tried:
# removing apps from recent list
# stopping apps from Setting>apps>running apps & cached apps as well
# restoring to factory defaults
# used ram freeing apps (no change on ram)
Well just like on PCs if you keep your phone running for quite a while a lot of dead apps will fill your RAM and reduce performance, the workaround as you know it is restarting your phone.
I don't know that how this can be permanently solved. I myself restart my phone after one or two days.

One of your main issues is that your ram is the min to even run Android. With 5.0 they are supposed to optimize it for devices with low ram. Not a whole lot you can do right now.
Wayne Tech Nexus
a little fix
it is a common problem with all low ram devices
root your phone and install greenify (or maybe greenify pro with xposed framework ) and hibernate those apps that are using the ram on your device u will get much more free ram now explore around a bit
Hello guys,
I have serious problem with RAM on my phone. It runs JB 4.1.1 and has 512 mb RAM.
The thing is that often when I browse the web (sometimes light pages but very often at browsing imageboards like 9gag) i get a message in top right corner saying "memory low" and the stock browser is crashing. Similar problem happened to me in game Kingdom Rush during loading after beating the previous one. Once I had that strange problem that it crashed to home, low memory appeared so it closed the launcher, launched it on again, then off and so on...
I disabled bloatware apps from Orange and the System Panel Lite shows me 150 mb free RAM. It should be enough to not cause any problems... I'll just add that Moto Defy with the same amount of ram didn't make any problems.
Do you have any solution for this?
P.S. Does any one have stock ROM for this phone?
Hey guys. Is there any app that can tell me about every single process running and the RAM used by it? Every single means every user and system app/service/process currently running. I generally have about 450MB free RAM when I reboot. But then slowly, RAM usage keeps on increasing, even if I have nothing running. Killing everything and hibernating all apps running in background-- that doesnt help much. Android hardly shows any details..it just shows the currently running user processes and services. That "system" usage of the RAM keeps on increasing and doesn't decrease unless I reboot.
Any way to view what eats the RAM up? And kills those stupid useless bastards?
try MyAndroidTools and look into process

Nice app man, thanks
Hello everyone,
I don't know if there is any mention of this problem anywhere or it's been a common issue for Huawei devices, so please link me to the thread if there is.
So my Mediapad M5 has 4GB of RAM. Normally after a restart, there is about 2.5GB of free RAM presented. But after a couple of days of average usage, the free RAM starting to decrease. This is expected of course, but when the RAM decrease to about 500MB, the tablet becomes unusable. Apps couldn't be opened, current running apps constantly restarted and lagged. I tried to use the Tablet management app (come with EMUI) to optimise the system, but the problem still exists, and the RAM is still at 5-600MB.
I also tried to close all of the services in the Running services from the Developer option, but still, the "System processes" still took like 3.5GB of RAM, and with no other services or app running (not of I aware and the setting displayed), like in the screenshot I took:
drive.google.com/file/d/1ix27K_GjOahWLr-09U5Lfizn2vXbf_fE/view?usp=sharing
(Sorry I can't parse the image here, but here is the Google drive link)
I also tried to reset the tablet and install only some apps to test it, including Rotation manager, Netflix and VLC, and use them at normal rate. After a couple of days, like 4 days, the problem arises, and the only solution for me is to restart the device.
I also tried the option to Manually/Automatically manage apps launching in the Battery manager, but the problem still persists.
Is there any option that I haven't known of or haven't tried? The device works great until it's running out of RAM, and it seems like it don't know how to release them. Or maybe there is a leakage problem, I don't know.
Thank for reading! Have a nice day.
Editted: I'm in EMUI 9, Android 9, non-rootted
