Keep Stock Samsung Apps when flashing Custom ROM? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whats happening Forums,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 running the latest JellyBean ROM from SAM MOBILE,
I'm thinking about switching to a custom ROM but most remove "Bloat Apps' Is there anyway to keep the apps?
Also maybe keep gesturing and things like that?
Please post Helpful replies below.

Sorry, but what's the reason to switch to custom ROM, then?
You can MOD the stock... one of the benefits is to keep the stock apps.

There are many reasons to switch to a custom rom just switching to one gives me a TON of benefits such as
Manually Deodexed
Rooted + Busyboxed + Zipaligned
XXDLID Modem
Siyah 1.6.8 Kernel
ClockworkMod Touch Recovery v6.0.1.2
Super SU v0.97
4 Way Reboot
Extended Toggle
Disable increasing ringtone
Hide sms from call logs
Enabled More Toggle on Stock Status Bar
Center Clock
Shutter Sound on/off
Volume up/down key as Shutter
Exit browser option
Added Call button on Contact
Call Recording
%Circular Battery
CRT effect (with no flicker)
GPS Fast Lock
Colored SPlanner
Popup Browser
Scrolling Wallpaper
Added 4way Rotation
Added Lock Screen Rotation
Support Custom Boot Animation
Fixed Cell Standby issue
Added More CSC (Default BTU)
Activated Smart Rotation
Unplugging from USB doesn't turn on Screen
Auto EFS backup (/sdcard/Darky/EFS)
Bloatwares Removed (You can find the Removed Apps in /sdcard/Darky/App)
Skip Music Track with Volume Buttons Long Press while screen is locked
ROM will wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Darky Boot Animation
Some of these i cannot find as MODS,

Part is included in stock roms. Part is available as mod... which one is impossible to find for you?
BTW, some examples are... ridiculous. as an instnce: what for do you need GPS fast lock? My SGS catches lock within 4 secs inside the building... Same, scrolling wallpaper. 4 way rotation... you mean: in 3D space + time?.
Cell standby issue - I did not observed any issue here.
Similarily:
ROM will wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache

- where's your problem with the wipe from CWM??? Is this a MOD? RLY?? So, you want to do it automatically, with the frequency of? 20Hz?
and, last but not least: please have a look at the term which describes your requests:

You know, I'm old... but I still remember the good times when kiddos got a bike for their 6th Birthday. I'm sure that you'll not believe how much simpler it was, as they knew what to do with the toy... and what to expect.
Finally, bcs I'm tired and bored: flash stock ROM, backup requested stock bloatware on card with Titanium Backup, then flash whatever you want, Lumia 800 Win 8 even, and restore the apps.

The question is how can i take "Part" from the stock rom over to the custom rom

Just go to "kitchen" .. and choose your desired system.

Wow thanks for the deep insight but i just copied and pasted what was included in the ROM from the page, thanks for helping anyway and unfortunately not all the "bloat apps" are located there which is okay ill take a look into the Kitchen thing as well as simply backup with titanium backup but i am worried about compatibility.

Mysterious link to ROM's kitchen
BTW: have you decided to keep the bloatware, as in first post, or to remove it, as you stated in third???

Hello
First I would like to thank bharat_goku for this awesome ROM, so thank you
Now lets get to the business
1. Sometimes I have an odd problem. Apps that are installed not from the market force closes. On some apps this problem fixes itself after half a day or something like that. Magic, isn't it? I remember reading in some ROM thread that broken APK signatures may cause force close problem. The question is how can i fix it?
2. Is there a way to replace current transparent status bar to default one?
3. Is there a way to remove recent apps from notification box? It really feels sluggish now and lacks some space.
4. Is it possible to get default 2.1 lockscreen running? If so, what would I need to do to get one running? However this is more like for experimentation
5. Is there a way to *lock* apps like Phone and Messages in memory so they could always respond as fast as possible. I remember them being auto-killed on some roms... I currently didn't experience such behavior on this ROM since I didn't get any calls but I would like to be sure
6. I suppose I could manage to find this one easily but since I'm asking already... Where could I find old market app?
7. I'm thinking of making swap file and enable Compcache since GB eats memory pretty fast. I've seen them doing magic on Heroine (Sense 2.1) ROM. I'm gonna try these tweaks when I find some spare time... Has anyone tried something like that on this ROM? Was it worth it?
Well I think thats it for now. I'm not afraid of (adb) shell so if some answers involves using it that would not be a deal breaker

3. you can download and install "Remove recent apps from status bar" under Options from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090186
4. you can try this lockscreen for Wildfire which is similar to default 2.1 lockscreen for Hero, download and install "Wildfire Lockscreen" from the same thread mentioned above.

I found that if you select the slate skin, you get the status bar back and the whole rom feels faster. I also like the blue button highlights.
Thank you for your answers

I have found out that this problem is related to sd-card. It seems to be mounted as read only and some programs force closes when they cant write to that sd-card. I suppose this kind of stuff should be defined somewhere (maybe some ini file). So now the question is how can I make it writable.
P.S. I doubt it's my cards fault since I can access it through recovery USB mount without any problems.
P.P.S. I cant mount sd-card as disk drive through ROM.
P.P.P.S. I am also using LVX 0.6.2 so that may be a problem... I'll try flashing 0.5 when i get home
I guess I'm gonna need to reflash the ROM <looking for encouragement >

1. I think I've fixed it. I reflashed the ROM without wiping everything and now SD card works as it should, no FC's after that..
2. I have changed theme to Slate and then just accidentally changed back to default theme and the status bar is not transparent anymore
3. As stated few posts above the mod from SalsaSense works perfectly.
4. Same as 3.
5. It does seem to work well so I think it may not be needed here. However it would still be interesting to have some information about this.
6. Seems that old market app does not want to work with this ROM.. Oh well..
7. I've found out that compcache is not compiled into LVX kernel (or not enabled) so I could not test it out. About swap I did not test it either since atm my sd-card is too slow to even begin with something like that.
I hope this information will be useful to someone.
However I still have some issues... The phone drains battery in a day or so while doing nothing. Thats odd since with older sense 2.1 roms I could manage to push 3 to 5 days with light phone usage (really light, like 1 call a day, 3 texts and 10 mins browsing and of course alarm clock). However I did not use LVX kernel back then and governor was ondemand where now govenor is smartassv2. So battery life may not be entirely roms fault.
I'm gonna try to wipe battery stats and see how it goes then.
EDIT: Seems that wiping battery stats helped somehow. I don't have any idea how battery stats works, seems strange...

Well the thing is I used Slate theme from the beginning and then after having problems and reflashing ROM without wiping any data etc I changed theme to Default one. Since then the status bar is just like the original one, no transparency.
I have also flashed a mod that removes recently used apps from notification bar so maybe that has something to do with this. Strange.

[Rom]-[Wip]Gnex port AOKP [1/18/2012]

Ok guys this is a idea i had awhile back.... im not really a aosp guy most of you know that but, i figured if we were going to get a stable build that is sized right and a good chance of getting data to work fairly easy it would be a port from Samsung google Nexus.... now ive only put a couple hours into it so its not that great at the moment but ill get it as stable as possible with time... this thread is meant for testing, feedback, and for anyone who wants to add to the build fixes and so forth.. everyone is adults here and i know we can work together well...
that being said this is a port from a rom romanbb built for nexus called "AOKP" i have alot of respect for him as a developer and that is the main reason i chose his rom to port... so big thanks to him!!!
now to buisness like i said before not alot of time put into this yet all i did was booted it and play around awhile... rom is stable meaning "no reboots" needs alot of tlc
what works:
it boots
all hardware buttons
touchscreen
Note:as of now you have to use the built in touchscreen mouse to navigate thru the rom... i tried to turn it off but i am new to ics and aosp and i couldnt find a option to do so... if anyone knows pleasedo tell... just tap the mouse circle drag it to what you want to use say app drawer then tap it and the app drawer will open... i should have a solution for this once i have more time tomorrow after work...
what dont work:
data (not for long)
camera (easy fix)
audio
sd card
wifi
phone (forces closed because it tries to turn on radio annoying but can be dealt with while you play with the rom)
probabaly alot more but limited on time to test today
Features added by Roman
built from AOSP -- using 4.0.3
power menu
ICS style toggles
superuser & busybox built from source, included
deodexed & unsecure boot.img (for adb remount)
Facebook contact sync
ROM Control application lets you take control of your ROM. Customize it how you want it.
Navigation Bar options & layouts (search bar layout, menu visibility options, etc) -- long press search button enabled
IME Switcher toggle (show/hide notification when you type)
Customize your carrier label
Override lockscreen timeout (ie, use Android's timeout when turning the phone off, so it won't lock itself)
LED pulse timing options
Statusbar toggle options
much much more in there
1% battery mod built in (check ROM Control) -- two styles, center and off center
Unique Power Saver functionality
Turn data off while your screen is off (GSM phones can switch to 2G)
manually sync at a time interval for all your accounts (Gmail, etc)
Check out all the options in ROM Control
see more features and screenshots here
again guys WIP if you want to donate send it romans way im doing this rom for fun till we get a good leak.... which maybe soon

reserved... wont be around tonight to answer questions guys have to work early so im going to bed...so please only flash if you are confident in your skill to get back to a stable rom... ill check in in the morning have fun
woot cannot wait for this gonna be a long night!
Over on the eris, we had to use a mouse pointer for touch screen until it was fixed...idk if itll help. But i know mongoosegelix and devs from the desire got touch screen working right
Nerdgasm!!!
Edit: Nope that wasn't it. Need to double tap and drag to scroll.
Very intersting seeing this for the first time.
More awesomeness! Dev section is getting good.

I had to replace the .txt file in the kernel from the GB ROM i was reverting to with this .txt file in the PH98IMG.zip. If you don't do this there will be a main version error in the bootloader...worked for me.

you must also flash a gingerbread boot.img or PH98IMG.zip in hboot to be able to boot back up.
So, you would:
wipe /system in recovery
restore nand
boot to bootloader and either
A) fastboot flash boot *namehere*.img orB) flash a gingerbread PH98IMG.zipreboot
???
profit
Definitely can't wait to see this come together.

Downloading. Will let you know in a little while
Thanks. Nice ROM. Icons in the status bar are blurry though. Apart from that, working fine for now.
Also, what file in the framework do I need to change to change the background that shows when we are in the Settings menu etc? Kinda obtrusive the default ones, so wanted to change them.
EDIT: Superuser is denying all apps root access, without any prompt showing up. Tried with both Titanium and Root Explorer.

The icons in the status bar look blurry because i did't have time to resize them.I promise that this will be fixed in future versions.
Maybe the problem with the su apk is caused by the kernel you are using.I never encountered such a problem when i run the tests but i was using my kernel instead.
Please, if you find any other bug, let me know...

I am not familiar with the kernels available for mt11i because i do not own the device...
I can assure you though, that everything will run flawlessly if you use my kernel for mt11i:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496102
My friend uses this setup on his mt11i for about a week and no problem has risen...
Good rom.for instalations folows next step:
1.instal firmware .062
2.instal this kernel;http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496102
3.enter in CWM and full wipe
4.instal hybrom v.15
5. 2 reboot
6.enter in CWM and wipe cache partition dalvik cache
7.enjoy
I'm going to flash it today, or at least tommorow, and see how the rom is rolling at neo v. Going to report back soon
Edit 1: Okey, I see I have 2 launchers installed at begining. So I'm able to chose which one I would like to use, and just uninstall the another one
Edit 2: A little feedback The picture of background in settings menu is not so good in my opinion, it would be nice if there would be an option that will replace the image as just black background.. And second, the lack of OC option on your kernel

If you want, you can install another stock based kernel with OC.The rom will work fine with it.You will never get OC from my kernel. It's a way of thinking.I do not see it as a disadvantage.
If you want you can install another theme and change the settings background.
Please give some feedback on some other important issues like stability, speed, smoother scrolling, better touchscreen responsiveness, etc in comparison with stock firmware...
By the way, the resize of the icons is almost ready and i will probably release a flashable zip with the fix soon enough...

Hybrom is built without a boot image, and it can be installed on an any stock based kernel.
The choice about what kernel you will install is up to you.I prefer kernels without overclocking.
In the end you will have more disadvantages from an overclocked kernel (overheating, instability) than advantages (speed)
I agree;i use boof kernel and everythings work perfect.

I always wondered how will Diezel's Sony Sketch font look on our large screens
p.s. that font is not used in SE logo, it's created later based on look of SE logo
SE logo was made just as a logo, it was drawn.
To be honest it's a bit thin Not sure if we(on android) can change size, formatting of fonts.

Looking forward to see that, as when using this rom I feel somehow strange, like things aren't properly sized
Also in sms, icon in upper right part, for new sms, is a bit to large. Same thing happened when I tried using conv. app from xperia S.

-stability, hm ok didn't experience any problem.
-speed, speed of each app is ok, but switching between apps is slow, I would say to slow. for example when i receive sms and pull down status bar, click on it, sometimes it need 2,3 second to switch to sms.
-smooth scrolling is ok (why just ok? well maybe didn't pay much attention to that )
-touchscreen responsiveness, well I noticed one annoying thing, usually on stock, when light turns off ->touchscreen is off, and you can wake your phone with only hard keys. In your rom you can wake phone even touching on (turned off)screen which lasts only 2-3 second after it turns off. That wouldn't be a big problem if not only you wake it up but you actually press something
Also I noticed low number of free ram, I guess it's because of launcher and maybe other stuff you used.

About sonysketch font:I really didn't know which of the two came first. The logo or the font...
Useful information.
About icon resizing:Icons in the SystemUI.apk are resized and a flashable zip containing the new resized SystemUI.apk is uploaded on the first page of this thread under the "USEFUL CWM FLASHABLE ZIPS" section(SystemUI.apk is the one responsible mostly for the icons in your status bar).Framework-res.apk is now under resizing and it's half done. One or two more apks. and everything will be o.k.
About conversations.apk:The icon (for new conversation) is like the one from xperia s because this is the xperia s conversations.apk.It has nothing to do with resizing...
About screen going off:The screen after about 20sec gets dimmer. It doesn't turn off.It turns off after 30 sec.In this 10sec interval you have the chance to fully wake your screen only by touching it.After the 30sec have passed you will have to press the (hard) home key to wake your screen.
About free ram:Please give me some numbers... (I already have improved this feature in the upcoming v16)
P.S. i do not own an mt11i,so testing is very hard (a friend of mine owns an mt11i,but i do not see him often). So, posts like the previous one, are very useful for me.Please give me some more feedback and i may be able to bring neohybrom at the levels of the original hybrom...

About screen, if you didn't changed levels, it should dim like stock, right? I know about that, but I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking that when screen goes off(really off, no dim) you can still wake up phone by touching screen.
About rams, hm, I moved back to stock, so can't check real numbers, but I remember after some time it gets down to ~70-80, it doesn't get freeup, and i didn't even used much apps, regular calls, sms, gtalk, 1-2 times browser.
only after I use one of those widgets from GO(sorry don't know name, as I don't use it usually) to kill apps, it only goes to ~130.

INTRODUCTION:
__________________________________________________
Hello XDA.. Welcome to another project by me, the Custom Stock ROM 5.0 Edition- Codename: "Eternity". After a long period of waiting and as most of you have known me from my ICS ROM Thread, basically it's a simple looking Stock Rom with some new features and apps added to this ROM that the original firmware don't have and it feels a lot better and faster. Lots of bugs has been fixed, and I have made a lot of visual changes in 5.0 Edition. I feel that this is what Samsung should have done on our lovely device. I hope you will have a great time enjoying with this new release. If you enjoy my work, please spread the word around about this ROM.
*Before using this ROM, please read the whole post.
*This thread will be updated with new infos.
Things To Remember:
1. The best way to start is not by posting, it is by reading. Read, search, read, search. If you read an answer that looks helpful or answers a question you might have, bookmark it, and when you see someone else ask that question you will have the answer for them plus a supporting link.
2. Courtesy towards other Members: Treat new members the way you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instruction when you can and always with respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.
3.When you post something here, many people will see it and possibly post a reply that might be perceived as funny but not extremely helpful, or trolling. This is mostly due to questions that have been asked and answered a thousand times, threads/posts being in the wrong forum/thread, or not providing enough info. This is usually meant as good-natured kidding, so please don't take it wrongly and snap off a reply that escalates the situation into something you might regret later.
4. Do not use abusive language: Example: "wtf", "f***ing", etc... Please do not use bold or bigger fonts. It is against all forum rules.
5. Post using a clear message: You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a message that describes your problem and explain in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
6. Search before posting: Use the search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
7. Press the
button: Don't just say thanks, press it.. It's free and easy.
8. Vote and Rate my thread: As it will help me keep this development alive.
*Flash this ROM at your own risk, do a backup first because you will lose all your datas.
*I am not responsible if your device breaks or turn into hardware failures.
*I will not answer if you have install any mods from other threads or roms/firmwares which will cause big issues and bugs on your device. Please refer to the original providing thread instead.
FAQs:
Q: Is this ROM 100% lockscreen lag free?
A: It is being reduced. You can still see 1 or 2 lags.
Q: How do I flash this ROM?
A: Please refer to the Installation Procedures.
Q: How is the battery life?
A: It can last a day of usage if you are not a gaming type of person.
Steps in preserving the battery:
1. You may want to uncheck some unused feature in Google Now settings. Example: Weather, Traffic. This cause heavy usage on battery life.
2. Uncheck Backup my Phone in Settings/Privacy.
3. Uncheck Automatic date and time in Settings/Date and time.
4. Uncheck WiFi notification in WiFi/Advance setting.
5. Set the Brightness Slider to a minimum and uncheck the Auto Brightness.
6. If you are using the Information Ticker and Weather Widgets, please set the refresh rate to 2 hours or more.
You may also want to practice the 2-3 discharge cycles to get good battery life.
7. Do not use Task Killer apps. Using these apps will waste even more battery life. Let android system do its ram killing.
8. If you using Juice Defender or Green Power apps, some users experience better battery life without these apps, so the best solution is to test them by yourself.
9. When exiting an app, do not simply press the home button. This will make the app not closing properly.
Thus, waste your battery life. Use the back button continuously until you reach the homescreen.
*Tips: The Best Way to Calibrate SGS2 Battery
ram3n said:
Guys,
Here is, I do think, an interesting topic about the famous eternal question :
"Please, tell me how to calibrate my f*** battery?!".
To begin with, here are some (fresh) news :
You have to know that our dear brand-new device uses new specific MAX17042 drivers which actually don't allow us to normally "calibrate" the battery as many of us could have imagined.
I quote Entropy512 :
Unlike HTC devices, battery calibration doesn't apply to our devices.
Google MAX17040 for more info - while our fuel gauge chip (MAX17042) does have advanced features that would require calibration if used, those features are not yet enabled and it basically behaves identically to a 17040. Maxim specifically designs their fuel gauge chips to not require special calibration procedures..
Click to collapse
I mean here that using such applications like Battery Calibration (or anything else), or manually delete Batterystats.bin in data/system folder, or even wipe batterystats in recovery, all theses methods are actually .... useless and a waste!
In fact, the only effect you will notice by doing (deleting) it, is that you'll reset your usage stats in the Android battery usage screen. Nothing else, sorry.
The only current way I've found up to now, is to force the internal chip to do it and therefore reset the fuel-gauge.
Here is a very simple method. Keep in mind that's not the only way :
BTW, no root needed here
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !
After that, you can make some cycle of fully charge/discharge to ~15/20% TO complete the method
I am pleased to share my experience about it.
Hope it could help most of people,
Cheers

MY GUIDE TO BATTERY.
Its different for every user so its hard, you may use apps that i don't so its no good deleting them, after all there is no point having good battery if you can't and don't enjoy your phone because you daren't have a certain app on your phone because it might use battery.
Or your struggling to see the screen because you have turned brightness off and put filter apps on.
So lets get one thing straight, yes you can save more battery than "my way" but i refuse to gimp my phone or use monitoring apps to analyze every little thing.
I will not undervolt or underclock because i bought an S2 and want to use its performance, i don't want a Galaxy mini that looks like an S2!
Remember, if a phone is gimped to half its speed it will take twice as long to do a job!
Don't use task killer apps, they are no good!
Use common sense, don't touch system apps if you don't know what they are.
For an example i only have 92 system apps left out of about 145 on JB lite after deleting what i don't need, and you could do more than that but you need to be very careful!
1st timers freeze apps instead of deleting just incase you make a mistake!
First get link2sd https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...m.buak.Link2SD
or similar app and "debloat" remove useless/unused apps)
For me that would be things like all Samsung apps like samsung sync adapter, allshare, remote control apps, enterprise apps, software update apps, gmail, google+, gtalk etc..
I delete Touchwiz and samsung keyboard also because i use Launcher Pro and Swiftkey.
*Remember to install other launcher and keyboard before deleting stock ones:thumbup:*
This might be of some help, but be careful, don't delete if you don't know what it is!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=34465832
List of what apps are ok to remove and what it does http://bo.lt/i8igz
Look in running and cached apps to see what is always there and if you don't use it, lose it!
Another good app for clearing out rubbish and duplicates (amongst other things) that other apps miss is sdmaid, https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....thedarken.sdm
give your phone a good clean everyday or 2! £1.19p full version i think but well worth it!
Go to settings, turn off haptic feedback and turn vibration levels right down/off (if you don't use vibrate).
Turn brightness to a low comfortable level, for me thats about 20 %.
Turn auto brightness off (common sense tells me it must be analyzing ambient light levels every second the screen is on, therefore using resources!)
Go to settings - Location and uncheck all 3 boxes until needed.
Use dark wallpapers, the more black the better! http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1631228
Turn syncing of email and notifications in xda, facebook, twitter etc off and just do it manually.
Apps like facebook, google+ and twitter, do you really need them?
If you only go on there occasionally then delete the apps and bookmark the site!
If you have poor signal then go to the modem + RiL thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=31416701
and find a good modem but on JB most modems are incompatible so check that it works on JB with someone first, but if you are on ICS then go and do it.
Lastly Gemini, https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...droid.gmappmgr
all the apps you were checking that were running like Maps etc, things you don't want to delete can be set to not start up at boot.
Go to settings and tick "force expert mode" then go through all your apps and all that have autostarts will have a little orange "auto" symbol.
Press the desired app and you will see "configure autostarts".
When you press that you will see all the instances in which that particular app will start up.
Here's where you are on your own depending on what apps you have so this is where you will need common sense on what to turn off.
As a general rule, turn off "on boot completed" on all your user apps, (apps you have downloaded yourself) but again there might be an exception depending what apps you have.
Be careful with system apps but Maps are the main offender which you can turn off.
(Turn all OFF , apart from 3rd one down and the 2 at the bottom ON) like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=29420959
YOUTUBE is the only app i have come across that doesn't like not being able to autostart so leave that one alone.
OK, now you are set upintall BBS http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=15869886
You can now keep an eye on what apps or processes are draining your battery.
Open it up, press menu/options from top right corner and go to advanced and check the "root features" box.
If you are having something keep your phone awake for excessive amounts of time the make a dump and post it in BBS thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=15869886
Make sure it is at least 4 hours long and phone has been untouched in that period. Someone will help you find the causes and keep them to a minimum
That is basically everything i do, so as long as you use common sense you should be fine.
A big thankyou to Salesale for these excellent ROMs he keeps coming out with
Remember, your phone is for using and enjoying, not being treated like a fragile egg and being scared to use it in case it uses battery!
As long as it lasts from when you wake till you sleep or get home (10 ~16 hours) then that is all you need! charge it overnight and ready to go again when you wake:thumbup:
Better than hardly touching it and getting 24 - 30 hours and it running out halfway through the next day!

If you have any other better advice or solutions on battery life, please share it in here.
Q: Is there a brick bug or Exynos Exploit in this ROM?
A: No, there isn't any of these bugs present. So, it is safe to use.
Q: How do I solve unlock SIM card?
A: You can use Galaxy SIM unlock or you may try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35096670&postcount=277
Q: My signal bar is not good. What can i do?
A: You may want to try flashing modems that works for you previously.
Q: My device is not waking up when I press the power or the home button key. What should I do?
A: Since I do not have this issue during my few test, try installing the ROM again. Or try to download the ROM again. Make sure you read the Installation Procedure below.
Q: I get the following error "Couldn't install on USB Storage or SD card" when trying to restore apps. What can i do?
A: Remove SD Card, install the misbehaving apps, then you reinsert SD card.
Q: AOSP Lockscreen crashes and reboot itself when I slide to unlock my device. What's happening?
A: There are conflicting apps you have installed that causes these bug. The issue with the AOSP lock screen is to do with popup notify apps using the accessability service to monitor apps.
Q: Can I apply themes into this ROM from other threads?
A: I have not tested it. You may lose some of the things in the ROM as the themes will overwrites the system/apps. Try it at your own risk. Always do a backup before attempting .
Q: Why are some of my apps FCs everytime I open them?
A: Some apps might not yet JB compatible.
Q: I want to dowload apps from Google Playstore i get a message that say's " Your phone is not compatible with this version" Any sugestions?
A: Try clearing cache/data for Play Store and Google Service Framework and Download Manager see if that helps.
Q: Is this ROM good for daily usage?
A: Yes, it is for daily usage, but as JB is in early development stage, bugs and errors is to be expected here and there. I will try my best to minimise these bugs and errors in the near future.
Q: Is this ROM multi-dpi? Can I change to 200 dpi?
A: I have not done this before. I may not be able to tell you. Try it at own risk. Always do a backup before attempting .
Q: Can I underclock/overclock and dual-boot with this kernel/ROM?
A: You can only underclock with this kernel. There is no dual boot feature yet.
Q: I experience over heating; that is I can feel the heat from the back of my device without doing anything. Why is this?
A: There are some apps which is running on background, trying to do updates and locations and it requires an amount of your 3G data.
Q: Which kernel is better?
A: Read below in the Warning Section.
*To monitor your Battery life, please use the Better Battery Stats App.
Info:
As some of you may or may not like it, this ROM has the carrier label on the statusbar.
I urge the users to stick with it as this is the only ROM with the carrier label on the statusbar trademark.
You will not find this on any other ROMs.
For Developers Only:
If you would like to use something from this ROM or one who has porting knowledge and would like to port this ROM to i777 or i9100P,
contact me in PM. Thanks.
Warning:
If you wish to install other kernels, you may try Philz kernel, Siyah Kernel(Beta) or Dorimanx kernel. Please download and run the GS2kernelwipe before installing these kernels.
You have to test it which works best for you.
For undervolting with Jeboo kernel v1.3, use an app like SetCPU or Voltage Control.
I advise you to undervolt 1 step at a time to test for stable result.
Some phones may not be able to undervolt and some can go -100mhv on each step.
If your device freezes or gets too hot due to too much undervolting, reboot to recovery. There is an option to reset the voltage.
**Please do not try to install any mods from other threads or roms/firmwares into this ROM as this will create big issues and bugs on yr device.
I will not reply to your posts if you have done these. You have been warned.
For this ROM:
If you want to make this ROM better and if you have any ideas, suggestions are always welcome. Please do not ask for themes.

ABOUT THE ROM:
__________________________________________________
Since version 1.0, the Custom Stock ROM has been based on the original Stock Samsung ROM builds. This makes a combination of performance and new features directly to your device as well as keeping it close to stock theme.
Some of the things that were tweaked with mods, scripts and apps in the previous versions are now included by default in this new ROM.
I would recommend to try this ROM. No obligations. Feel free to give your feedbacks about this ROM.
There will be more to come in the future versions, so for now, let's enjoy this release and hope to hear good things from you.

Hi Maanz,
Already said thanks in previous post when I used your Rom in 2 days, but just have to say THANKS again. I use this rom now over a week and battery life is very good, can go over a day with normal use, no FC's ,all is working like expected and very stable rom as you stated. This was done as my wife will be using it from now on(since I get my Note2 in a week) and I needed a "WAF"-rom (Wife Approval Factor)
This is by far the best rom I've used giving only the most needed extras and still have excellent stability, greatly appreciate your time and effort. You probably not gonna work on a Note 2 rom for me?
Gonna try the Revolution HD for note2(heard also stable)

Haha, funny thing, in my case I needed a "SAF"-rom (Sister Approval Factor). This one is in my opinion not wife/sister proof yet, I ended up putting maanz's other rom, Custom Stock Rom 2.1, which is ICS and super duper stable. If you hear any complains from the wife, go with that one for a bug free JB we just have to wait a little more

Hey Guys,
Just for info Maanz is working really hard on fixing a few minor visual bugs in the new version. I can say I have been testing it and its amazing for performance and battery life plus all the silly extra spaces and stuff in dialer after hangup which sammy should have fixed Maanz has done. It has been no easy task but Mannz is a perfectionist and will only release the new version when its 100% good so we can all enjoy it start getting very excited as this new version is awesome !

Ok, I have installed this for the wife and she's very pleased and I can vouch that the "phone once-always" bug is gone when rom upgraded.
@Ipmanwck..I did install the circle battery mod alone for wife and still no bug of the "once-always".
So far no bugs to report, all is running smooth for a day..didn't tinker yet where the other guys mention bugs, but normal email works fine, actually all is tested fine, except gps which I'm doing today.
Kudo's to the oke who made the video of installing rom in main page,is it you ipmanwck?..anyhow..I use that method with all my phones and is considered a norm for me,except I format internal sd everytime(really love a clean start, less errors to none found)..
Yet again,my wife is running brilliantly stock and me not,Oh I wish Maanz could do that for the N7105's..by the way is there a way I can have the lockscreen torch function on my note2,my wife is so stoked about the simplicity of how to enable torch with the home button(this must be built into samsung stock)

Maanz : I've the same in the Space & Time 1.x xD

I've Rooted my HTC One - Now what?

I've successfully unlocked my bootloader, flashed recovery and rooted my One using Superuser. It was pretty difficult and confusing to be honest. I got Titanium Back-up and froze all those stupid bloatware apps.
Now what can I do? I see there are two pretty good roms over here in the forums, but I'm not sure if I should grab one of those or wait for other better ones? Is there a "best" rom? Anything else I can do while waiting?

My advice? Take some time and just enjoy the phone. Its too soon for there to be
much going on in terms of ROMs and MODs. But they will come...
I generally get rid of the stock ROM on a new phone as soon as possible...but I have been
impressed with Sense 5 so far...gonna rock it for a while I think.
Check out the TrickDroid rom in the international HTC One forum. I've got that on my AT&T One, and it's amazing.

One app I consider a must have for rooted devices is adblock plus. Get it and enjoy a faster, cleaner, and less data intensive internet experience. Just be aware that it's no longer part of the play store, and you'll have to sideload it.

I've rooted devices before, but never installed a custom rom. Might be fun to give it a try.
However, just to make sure I won't do anything wrong...I replaced my recovery with TWRP when I first rooted.
I'm thinking I add the .zip rom to my root directory, make a backup with TWRP, backup my apps with titanium backup, then just flash the rom and restore my apps? Is it that simple?
Also, should I wipe the dalvik in addition to the regular data?

Actually the list of improvements and added features in TrickDroid (and several other 1.29 based International ROMs) compared to the stock ROM is quite large, which very easily justifies the reason for bootloader unlocking/rooting your phone. Some of these improvements/mods are available over here in the AT&T dev section, and some are only available in International based ROMs (for now anyway)
Newer firmware than the AT&T base (1.29 compared to 1.26)
Supposedly the camera software in 1.29 is considerably better with things like improved processing for pictures; I haven't verified this for myself
That stupid permanent power saving toggle in the notification pulldown menu has been removed (replaced by a much nicer and smaller status bar toggle button)
The only-useful-maybe-one-time-but-is-always-there IME icon that pops up in the task bar (when the keyboard is being used) has been removed
For people that use Sense as their launcher, there are options to change the icon grid in the drawer to 4x5 / 5x6 instead of the screen wasting 3x4 default
There are very nice looking scrollable color toggle buttons in the pulldown menu for the normal things like wifi, bluetooth, GPS, flashlight, switching between silent mode & normal mode, etc. The toggles can be long-pressed to go directly into the options related to the function of that toggle
The stock messaging app has more options (custom background, colors for the conversation bubbles)
HTC has lowered the overall "boomsound" volume in 1.29 a bit, presumably to correct the popping sounds that people have experienced on earlier firmware builds including the AT&T 1.26 build. In my opinion, even with this lower volume, the phone is plenty loud and the speakers are still louder than my Galaxy S3. There are still ways to increase your volume back up again if you really need it (for example, the faux123 kernel has "faux sound" that can pump up the volume, among other audio tweaks)
There is a brightness mod available to lower the really high default automatic brightness settings a bit, to increase battery life
There is a mod available to temporarily turn on the display when an SMS message is received if the phone's display is off
There is a mod available to wake up the phone with the volume buttons (in addition to the power button of course)
There is a no-pin Exchange mod available for the stock email client that overrides the need for a pin # when connected to a corporate Exchange email system that requires phone security
There is a stock-based kernel available as a choice during the installation that maps the HTC logo as a menu key. Actually I think it really just maps a touch point on the display immediately above the HTC logo, but it is very close to the logo and actually works.
There is a mod available to remove the stupid 3-dot button in apps that still use a menu key. Obviously you would only want to use this mod when you've got something mapped as a menu button (either the back key long-press option or the HTC logo mapping mentioned previously)

Thanks for you post. My HTC One is on its way, and this is the ROM I plan to flash. Can you please elaborate on this last part?
Are you saying that there is a place on the settings menu to select a custom mapping for the menu button? and THEN you flash the mod? Doesn't that sound backwards? Wouldn't one flash the mod which would give you the option of a custom menu button mapping somewhere in the settings menu?
just be patience
it's take times to build a better rom for new device.maybe 3-4month.we can get perfect rom

I heard there's a mod to use the logo as a button. I would turn that into a MENU button.

Really? I thought for sure the AT&T One I had was 1.29. I have the DE now, and its 1.29.1540.3 I guess that would be another reason if you are paying full price to go with the DE.
