[Q]USB not working after flashing CM9 FXP146 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello everyone
I've flashed FXP146 CM9.1 on my Neo (MT15) and after that USB doesn't work. The phone will charge normally (except maybe it takes about 5secs to recognize it's charging) but when I plug to the computer it won't recognize there's a USB device connected (not even a bleep or a unknown hardware message) and the phone will charge but still no mass storage/MTP message. I've already:
- Enabed/disabed USB debug
- Rebooted the phone several times
- Wiped data / deleted cache/dalvik
- Reinstaled the ROM (I've also pushed FXP145 through WiFi ADB and installed it - obviously I couldn't flash a new kernel)
- Bought a new USB cable
- Plugged in another PC
There's the chance of phone's USB malfunctioning, but it would be a great coincidence it starts right after the kernel flashing/rom installing (both processes went ok, I've flashed through flashtool in less than 2secs without errors).
My question is: there's someone else with this problem? If that's the case has someone managed to fix it?
Thanks for your time
@edit
I've noticed the system is a bit laggish too, FXP145 was very smooth

I'm still the only one facing this issue?

Yup, it seems you're the only one.....
Maybe you can try and see if Windows device manager detects the device, in control panel....
Do you mean to say you can't connect even in flash mode/ fastboot mode?

Yes, when I try to enter flashmode/fastboot the led just flashes then turn off again and the phone starts to boot. I've checked Windows' device manager (in both PCs) and there's no new device there. I know it all points to hardware failure, it just seems hard to believe the perfect timing.

Try a different ROM, or download the same ROM again. Unlikely, but something may have been corrupted in the zip. Try the new JB ROMs. They're extremely fast and stable. Personal opinion of course

Neo V not detected in PC
Hi. My Neo V is not getting detected in PC as a Drive. USB Mass Storage option is missing when I connect my phone to PC.
Using CM10 FXP148 ROM, Lupus Kernel.
Will this thing work with my phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34956370&postcount=4174
Any help?
EDIT1: This works : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34956370&postcount=4174&nocache=1
EDIT2: This didn't work with CM10 FXP152 ROM, Lupus Kernel.

Same issue with my Xperia GO
I had CM9 running on my Xperia GO. I installed FXP 216 CM9 from FreeXperia project. Everything was running properly. USB drivers never posed any problem. Then I tried installing CM10 FXP225 and it was stuck on boot loop. So what I did was that I rebooted phone into fastboot and flashed CM9 boot.img. then installed and wiped data.
and then this problem occurred. My laptop (running on windows 7) won't recognize it anymore. I tried to uninstall and install drivers (even fastboot and flashboot ones) but still I am not able to get it recognized. I heard the CM10 FXP 226 has fix for bootloop and i am dying to try it on my phone, so if anyone can help, it would be a great help.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I tried with no luck,
The memory card mounts into the phone fine and i can use xrec.
What i cant do is when i plug the usb into the computer it does nothing.
All i get is a marker that says charging.
I have even bin able to install through xrec, wolf v4, v5, and currently running v6 with no usb support to flash tif files, SEUS, or transfer stuff on any of them.

Thank you for the help today i will see what i can find to get back to stock kernal...
I will be away from the computer for the next few days so i will re open this thread then...
After 8 hours of looking i could not get my phone to connect through usb to flash or manage files.
I think i have narrowed it down to the kernal but i may be wrong.
I am running doomkernal unlocked so without flashing the kernal i have no clue how to fix this since i cant connect through usb.

If not try these drivers on your pc and then connect your phone.
yeah my USB port is going too it sucks. Need to be soooo careful when flashing new kernels now or I may brick it as it's unlocked
If I don't have the wire in just a certain way it senses nothing, and the cable is able to like wiggle around in there like the connection is getting loose. Bad times

Not actually true. It just needs to be a working micro USB cable. I use a generic micro USB cable (originally for a BlackBerry, I think) for all my flashing. Works fine.

Yes i tried all that with no luck i just cant get my phone connected to my laptoo if i could I
could unbrick
Check for Windoze updates if you're unable to get your PC & phone to recognise each other after trying the obvious (different USB ports, different cables, different versions of Odin, making sure Kies/its processes aren't running in Task Manager on PC. Try *all* of these).
This has solved the issue for a few people over the last week or so. Failing that, uninstall Kies from your PC, reboot, redownload it, reinstall it, reboot & try again.
If that doesn't work, try a different PC.

This method not required to connect your mobile to PC.
Just need external sdcard and ics based recovery
If you are ics recovery version , we can come from this issue.
1, download any ics ROM ( stock based ) and copy to your external sdcard.
2, root the mobile using this way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
[GUIDE] ROOT/UNROOT Stock ICS Firmware without flashing unsecure kernel
3, as per the above guide once you flashed cwm.zip , you will get cwm based recovery screen.
4, wipe system and cache
5, install the custom ROM from external sdcard
I believe this method will work for you.
All the best

I believe it won't since he bricked his device and can't even start the phone.
Do what MistahBungle said + make sure that you install Kies first so that you have the proper drivers for Odin.
i have tried this methed. copied all the files on to the sd card, inserted back into the phone put into recovery but would not read external sd card only internal comes up????
That's nice.
Now have you tried the other suggestions that have been made ? If your phone & PC can't/won't recognise each other, you need to fix that first. Forget about CW not working. It's not relevant. You're not going to fix this without an Odin flash and making that happen should be your focus/priority.

I'm having the same issue today, i flashed the siyah kernel beta and now recovery doesn't work and phone stays on Samsung logo.
I can get into download mode but pc says unrecognised device . It was working fine a few days earlier.
Unfortunately my Samsung USB cable appears to have vanished too but I don't see why my other cable shouldn't work as long as it supports data? Maybe the cable is the issue though??
Might be. Try the (many) suggestions on the first page. Any one of those could be/resolve the problem. In addition to those suggestions, you can also try uninstalling Kies on your PC, rebooting, re-downloading it, reinstalling it, rebooting & then seeing if your PC & phone recognise each other.
But definitely try those other suggestions first.

This is definitely NOT a cable issue. I have the same problem, and i too was using Siyah. It's something with the kernel.

OK have had this problem, CWM is gone bye bye - bootloop, download recovery mode possible on phone but can't connect using Odin. Right??
See this thread

You will need all the files, make sure Keis is not messing with Odin so check to make sure it's not running on the PC.
Have had this happen to me - keep the files safe and you will fix pretty much any brick u manage to do. Mine was in CM9 - dropped and battery fell out had to do the full repair job to fix.

[Q] Get back to stock 2.1 FW from stock 2.3.3 w/ broken or damaged USB port?

Hi guys! Been a long follower of posts here in the X10 forums and the Acer A500 forums since I own both devices and it would be really great if you can help me in my problem with my X10:
( DEVICE: Sony Xperia X10 ; ANDROID VERSION: Stock/Official 2.3.3 )
Recently I have noticed a problem with my Xperia X10 since I updated it with Official 2.3.3 gingerbread update from sony, here are my observations:
* when connected to the PC, it only charges and does not sync or function as a mass storage in any way (I have tried turning off USB Debugging in the settings but nothing happened.
* I tried repairing it thru PCC or SEUE but still it cant be detected by the program (Even tried reinstalling PCC and SEUE for many times, also tried to sync it thru Flash Mode but it doesnt enter flash mode, the green LED just blinks but nothings even appearing on the screen even if I click on it for 10 minutes or so)
* I tried using Flashtool to install a stock or even a custom rom but like Ive said it wont enter flash mode
* One time I connected it, it tried to install the driver but it failed then suddenly the device disappeared (Even tried to look at Device Manager)
* Tried restarting the computer then connect the X10 but still its not detected
* Tried to hard reset it to see if there will be any changes but nothing happened
* Tried to install and reinstall the drivers included with Androxyde's flashtool and Azuzu's Flashtool but nothing happens, still it wont be detected
Now back to my problem, can I install an earlier stock rom or a custom rom in any other way other than using Flash mode just so that I can root it and install an ICS rom or FXP's Cyanogen 9 rom, or even install Beats by Dre & Bravia Engine tweaks for my X10? I've seen Doomlord's similar solution ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054818&nojs=1#goto_threadsearch ) sadly it's only for custom roms. Need your reply guys, thank you very much!

Hmm, Interesting problem. Are you sure you have checked Your device manager when you turned off your phone and pressed Back button and USB connected? Like this thing shows?
View attachment 1129524
If not, either these two ways:
1)Download These ADB driver here for X10i and look how they installed. See is it solved?"
2)Are you sure how to use flashmode?? Power off button, don't connect your USB to computer yet. Then press and hold Back button and connect the USB to your PC. The green light will retain and screen will be black all the time
3)If not, Try reinstall SONY PCC / Or try email SONY
AND!!!! BEFORE You do anything like installing custom rom or stock rom from XDA here, your X10 must BE ROOTED my friend??Or not, custom roms cannot be installed into your phones? and The link you pasted methods only worked after you rooted your X10+r installed recovery.
AND, back to your problem. Sorry but No. for 2.3.3official X10, rooting must be done via flashtool. And it's considered MI5 for installing ROMs without rooting!! Plus, ICS roms or CM9 only can be flashed after your phone's bootloaded is unlocked..and of course after rooting!!
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much on your reply whitefang! Your help is very much appreciated. Will try to test those things and will keep you posted ASAP.

USB device not recognized!

Hi to all!
Since yesterday, my PC which is running W8 gave an error whenever i tried to connect my xperia mini to my PC. 'USB device not recognized'. I was running CM 10.1 and a new update was available so i tried to flash it. Flashed it successfully and then the network was gone so, what i did was flash back to CM 9.1. Here the problem occurred. My PC is not recognizing my phone. I tried flashing the kernel with flash tool and followed this :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095087 Still nothing. Connected it to another laptop running windows 8. Even that didn't work so i connected my phone to my dad's laptop running windows 7. I was somehow able to flash kernel at first but then the same error there too! Tried 3 different PC's and i'm not able to solve this issue! Please help!
as you have a custom kernel on device, try accessing CWM and installing the stock ROM,then install CM again..
btw did you check the CM10.1 page for any bugs..?

Tried 2 different ROM's on the same kernel. Nothing happens. I get the same error each time! Also now my ear-piece won't work too (In both the ROM's i flashed) :'(
I also noticed that using Win XP, i can connect MSC to my PC and copy/paste items. But as soon i go into fastboot mode, it gives me the error!
Edit: I have used CM 10.1 before with no bugs. This started happening only yesterday!
I know this sounds dumb, but do you have ADB on (android debugging) because my windows 8 computer doesn't recognise my phone without it on. Hope I helped.

try updating the driver by manual selection...

open flashtool..
check the logs when you connect your xperia..

I somehow managed to connect it to flashhtool in flash mode! Now i'm flashing .42 ftf file to use my device somehow with 0 bugs/glitches. It is taking forever to do so! See the attachment!
Any other way to flash ftf file?
Thank you

Edit: Tested on 3 laptops each running:- Win8 and other two Win7. Also, tested on 1 PC (dual-booted with XP and Win8) Same result in all of them.

Try changing connection modes on the phone...
if not..flash stock kernel

I've been checking many roms for last few weeks. Installed stock based MIUI v4 by devswift1 yesterday. It's definitely unlike other roms. Sometimes it looks cheap but it has many added feature that makes it unique. But I faced a major problem. After flashing the Rom my windows 8 pc doesn't recognize the phone at all. Tough it make sound when I plug and unplug the phone but nothing shows on my computer. Any miui user here?

Try to change usb conectivity mode from MTP to MSC and MTP again. Or uninstall your old phone driver from device manager.
