in your app drawer there should be a google app icon, tap it...google now opens..but forst you have to click through the introduction screens and then activating it by clicking OK, I'm in! There you have then the settings fpr the different cards you wish to receive...mind you..as long as u r at your home...normally only the weather card will show..once you set your work address and home address it will show you related cards once you are on the go!
Functions very well in Germany..and more cards coming soon

Hi, still the same thing, I don't see any other option apart from the three options I mentioned.
I go to Setting-->Application and only see Google Search, but cannot see Google Now.
Other thread are suggesting is because of my google account, let me create a new one and log in with it.
Which language are you using for your system language? It is possible that your language is not supported for now. Try to set it to English(us) and see what happens.
To activate Google now just hold home, then close your keyboard. on the bottom right is the settings button. press it, open settings, then Google now. Now press I'm in. And it should work.

Hi, I am using English and did exactly what you told.
When it first launch, it shows the Google Now banner briefly, then immediately bring me to the the search bar with a mic icon.
I tried log out from my Google account, it is still the same.

Google Now or Google Search will only work as Now when the en-US talkback/offline voice is installed. Google Now needs to be opted in and is not a sepearte product that you are missing. Just make sure you have latest Google Search and en-US as talkback language.
Also, update your sig with you device/carrier/location info so people dont waste many posts just to gather that info.
download set local app (free) choose English (US) start google search and the rest is all gravy.

Can you check if there are any system updates avaiable? Also, visit play store and see if there are any updates available for google search.
BTW what is the OS version?
just press and hold the home key at the bottom of the phone
Google Now (FIXED)
Hi everyone,
I had this problem too and there was only one way I could fix it.
Install Google Search v2.6 and update it later if you want.
Cheers.
I have the same issue for some reason.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Guys guys guys, calm down! I had the issue, as remarked by a previous reply its about your System language.
I set the system language to "Egypt(English)" which I thought was normal, but in google now I only found "Voice" search like everyone else. Set your system language to "United Kingdom(English)" .
Not the keyboard.. The system language. Due to being on CM atm I can't remember the location of that setting, but I am going back to sense, I will edit the reply later.
I just got to the root of my problem. It turns out Google Now is blocked by my network provider as I'm in Vietnam. I removed the SIM and then enter settings in Google Search. The the option to turn on Google Now appears, once turned on I reinserted the SIM and Google Now still works. Hope this helps.

Yep, there was a google maps update this morning for me and the widget is gone
it's mistakes like these that I think makes people annoyed at google.
Somewhere in project management they screwed up. Meanwhile they'll bring this back a few weeks later.
I know its so annoying as I use it a lot.

They won't be releasing the source code for Maps, it's their own proprietary software. Though there are plenty of API's to hook into maps and lattitude so I doubt it will be long before there are numerous widgets in the Play Store.

I don't think the removal of the widget is something Google missed, it's more than likely been removed intentionally.
Edit: It's likely been removed dude to the fact that Lattitude and nearby friends as linked into Google Now, which notifies automatically and has a card. Moving the feature to be an integral part of the OS rather than just sitting in an optional application.
Where did you get this information from? Is it just a guess, as I can not find a "friends" or any kind of Latitude-related card in google now?
If you want it badly enough you could just uninstall the recent maps update, I tried it and could get the widget back.

This worked for me, uninstall then reboot, latitude widget back and auto updates off for maps.
Any chance they will put it back in next release?
Try this
Here is a post from the Verizon forum. I haven't checked it on my phone yet so hopefully this is accurate:
Found it. The shortcut is gone and I can't find any other actual evidence of it but if you go into Google Maps and click the icon in the upper left corner it brings down a menu and latitude is on there.
My Latitude icon is missing as well, but there is a Latitude layer on Google Maps. My friends are still there, its just less convenient to get to.
Yep I think the widget is gone forever and ever lol I have gotten used to using latitude through the maps now

For reasons unknown I started experiencing a 921 error while using Google Play (AKA Android Market) yesterday. I tried different reboots and removing my account from the device and re-adding it but nothing worked. Depending on how the wind was blowing I would either get error 921 or sometimes error 403. Once in a while it would turn up as error DF-BPA-13.
But I finally found the solution and it cleared up the problem completely! What you need to do is this (these instruction are for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but the principle is the same with Android 2.x and 3.x):
Go to settings
•Tap “Apps” (in left menu)
•Tap “All” (last tab on top right hand side)
•Scroll until you find “Google Play Store”. Tap it.
•Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
•Tap the back button to get the list of apps again.
•Scroll until you find “Google Service Framework”. Tap it.
•Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
•Now reboot your device.
And that’s it! You may need to re-enter your Google account details but everything should be working fine!
@Sun90, you are absolutely right. On Google searching, i found the same solution working for both Wi-Fi network and 3G.
The delete proxy solution only works for 3G

Check your Wifi routers' firewall settings!
I recently had the same occur to me. All of a sudden my app updates weren't downloading anymore, gave error 403 and failed.
Turned out to be a setting in my routers' firewall: blocking cookies on the firewall prohibits the Play store from downloading!
Weird, but as soon as I turned off the cookie blocker on the firewall in my router, my apps updated again
I've tried VLingo, Google, several others. All have problems:
1. Terrible with matching Contact name; usally unbelievable off.
2. Many require touching the screen to advance.
Just lookting for something that works, prefereably without a data connection needed, activated by a simple long push on BT earpiece. Free not required.
Rooted, JB installed.

I can't seem to find a clear answer, but doesn't Google Voice require having a Google Voice account with various phones listed and it automatically switches, etc? I would rather not get involved in that.
Tried Google Voice Dialer and it was terrible!
Took out all other voice dialer apps and tried the built-in JP Google Voice. I gave it ten names to dial; it got all ten wrong. Then I tried the same name five times; it got it wrong for four different guesses. It is closer to a random phone number generator than a voice dialer. But it did fine when dictating numbers, but that's not really what I want. I'll keep looking; there has to be something better than this.

I just switched off WiFi and Data and used google now. I said "call Home" and that's exactly what it displayed. Then it prompted me if I wanted to cancel, or skip ahead and call. There was also a red bar at the bottom that was progressing indicating that it would call my home number if no action indicated I wanted otherwise. Perfectly reasonable.

That's Google Voice, a different product than Google's Voice Search. Since 4.x, it has some great offline performance but it always pulls web results, as someone mentioned.
Try out Nuance / Dragon's newer app. Hopefully, that doesn't stream every word you dictate to a corporation that believes they can do whatever they want with it (like Swype's EULA).

Google search was dissabled. To fix the problem go to settings>apps> then scroll to the right to all apps look for Google search then unable it. After that go to settings>language&keyboard there should be a option for Google voice typing that should work.

Yeah no problems here. Download those three apps, push them to SYSTEM/APP, change permissions then reboot. You can have as many launchers installed as you like. I'd suggest leaving Nova. Try the New Google, if you don't like it just go into system/apps and delete the 3apps that you pushed to that folder. No biggie.

Maybe if we could get the 4.4 icons it would be different. I'm sure a cyan theme is just around the corner anyway.
