Hi,
I rooted my x10 a week ago following the usual method step by step and everything went fine, phone was much faster than in 014, i had su apk installed...
The problem is that yesterday i tried barnacle for tether, and for my surprise, it said i have no root. I tried opening terminal and su command but nothing. I tried a method found in a topic to gain root, mount -o remount, rw.... and it gave me an error with the path this method uses....
Now i cant do the process again since i have no computer with me. Is there something i can do?
Thanks!!

Is Superuser installed?
If not, install it using this apk: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5653599/Superuser.apk
Yes, it is installed, when i open it, shows nothing

Make sure step one is completed properly, and all steps are. I had same problem. Because effectively all you have done is install the apps without actually rooting. Start over, take your time and make sure all steps complete

Happened to me using the "Newbies guide", so make sure you complete all the steps.

Are you allowing the superuser request that pops up on the phone screen during the process, because from the error message I read a few posts ago, I think that may be your problem.

hi guys, i'm new in this forum, and i'm new to android too, i just bought a htc desire x and want it to be root, but i have problem when trying to get token id in hasoon2000 HTC Desire X All-In-One Toolkit V2.0 [1-1-2013], it says C:\ Document is not recognized as an internal or external command openable program or batch file.
usb debugging is already connected, please any one kindly fixing my problem, thx
sorry for my bad english. btw i'm from indonesia
Did you follow these steps?
How To Use. THIS IS FOR THE PC ONLY. No plans ever for Mac or Linux. Sorry.
1. Download the toolkit DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER
2. Download Winrar from here. Install it after you download it
3. Extract the folder anywhere.
4. Run the program.
thx for replying so quick, after i downloaded then i extract to desktop and just run the program by clicking the symbol written as desire, am i doing it right?
Try to unpack it somewhere else on a root of some partition of your PC, try to unpack it to non system partition.
ok thx, i'll try it tomorrow, i'm sorry i've to go home coz it's 11.41pm already in my town, and i'm still on friend's house.
thx anyway for your reply, i'll let you know the progress
hi nlooooo, i did what u told me to do and it worked, i unpacked to (Cdrive, but another problem came on my device when i clicked get token id.
here is the picture shows the problem
@nlooooo.....i just tried your way on rooting this device, and same problem came up on step 8 when getting token id, still it says C:\ Document is not recognized as an internal or external command openable program or batch file, i've found out my device still locked, is it because of the device still lock? here's the image shown
problem solved
hi nlooooo......i've rooted my device, just try to put all the downloaded file to C:drive, and followed your tutorial on your thread, and i succeeded, at least i saw superuser on my device, thx alot for your tutorial.
No problem, that's why we're here. If you see it then it should be it. Try to install some app that requires root privileges (Titanium Backup for ex) and see if it can get SU rights.
hi.....any recommendation of apps or what to do after this rooting? cos i really a noob in android and root things. thx

Go and open Superuser app, swipe to first screen and see if the binary is installed. Then go and clear data for Titanium and open it again.
If you still have the problem use some root explorer to check folder system/bin if there is a file named su.

i am getting stuck at last step i am always getting this message sending 'unlocktoken' (0kb) .
i have not installed htc sync app but just directly installed the drivers for unlocking purpose.
the boot loader is recognizing the usb connection as Fastboot usb.
using windows 7 32 bit operating system.
tried putting the unlock_code in c drive and desktop but it doesnt work.
the file is just a 1kb file.
the default view is shown as a vlc player file.
any help will much appreciated. this is my 1st htc mobile and am not used to this kind of rooting. previously owned a samsung so was using odin a lot.

no way to get a390 rooted
hi! i'm trying to root and setup a recovery on this phone but i cannot do it...
tried with no luck:
- scoutdriver73's method: sp flash tool hint me that it can download only a full image
- root with recovery method: script doesn't recognize when i confirm on smartphone for the reset, same for root option in mtk droid tools
- this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783 for extract boot.img and recovery.img and fix root permission with mtk droid tool, i get this error: 0 [main] gzip 4324 find_fast_cwd: WARNING: Couldn't compute FAST_CWD pointer when i load my recovery.img on mtk tool.
i noticed there is a size difference between TWRP img i downloaded from web (5640Kb) and the one i extrated directly from phone (6144kb)
any suggest?
thanks
(LATE REPLY) This is how I rooted my a390
I noticed the post is 10 months ago, but I'm replying right now because there may be other users hunting for root solutions for this device.
How to root your Lenovo a390:
1. Download Framaroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
Framaroot is an Android app created by XDA user alephzain. It allows you to root your device directly from your Android device-please click on link above to view full compatibility list. Download and Install this app. If it says "Installation blocked", go to your phone's Settings>Security and tick the "Unknown Sources" box. (Believe me, there are n00bs )
2. Open Framaroot. For the a390, there is only one exploit-Boromir, since it's a Mediatek powered device. Select Boromir.
3. Now you see two buttons: Install Superuser and Install SuperSU. You need to select only one of them. Framaroot will then root your device and install Superuser/SuperSU. (Superuser/SuperSU are apps which control root operations on your device ie. ensure no app uses root features without your permission-it is a MUST.)
The choice is up to you, but I'd recommend Superuser since it's like the Industry standard of rooted Android phones.
4. Reboot your phone. You'll find Superuser installed. Open it, swipe from left to right to access Superuser settings. The su binary is outdated and it'll appear in a red font. Tap it to update su binary.
This is proof enough that your phone is rooted, but if you really need to see, here's one more step.
5. Install Root checker from Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck
Run this app, and if your phone is rooted, Superuser will come up automatically asking you whether Root Checker should be granted permission- press Yes and root Checker will deliver the result.
That's it-congratulations, you've rooted your a390 without any pain. Now you can flash a recovery, install Busybox, overclock your phone, get rid of the dumb apps Lenovo has included with the a390.... Enjoy!

D620r rooting issue
So I've followed the steps but it doesn't seem to budge.
Here is what I do exactly, and tell me if I do something wrong.
1. I install the kingroot thingie, and root with it. It instals KingUser and something written in Chinese/Japanese/Korean (can't differentiate between those).
2. I install the SuperSu from playstore (did try with the one in MRW folder as well, didn't do anything different).
3. I attempt to install binaries but it fails (tried rebooting, still the same)
4. Using ES File Explorer I copy the MRW folder to the internal storage.
5. I am installing the Terminal Emulator on play store.
6. Then I'm opening the terminal emulator, type in "Su" (without the ") and hit enter and as a response I get "/system/bin/sh: Su: not found
7. Then for the sake of it I try inputting "sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
8. As a response I get "mount: operation not permitted java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: killBackgroundProcesses() from pid=10412, uid=10117 requires android.permission.KILL_BACKGROUND PROCESSES" and it follows by several lines of code and that is that.
After that KingRoot, KingUser and the Chinese/Japanese/Korean thingie are still there, SuperSu still can't install binaries and root support is crappy at best. Some things work but most don't since the permissions are managed by KingUser which is really crappy.
Any idea why the thingie won't work?
I have a LG G2 Mini, with Lollipop 5.0.2 bought from T-Mobile, updated it to Lollipop myself.
When I had it on KitKat I had proper root managed by SuperSu.

Try everything from the begining, install Kingroot and without installing SuperSU from market execute root.sh from terminal (with 'su' previously).

okay using "su" instead of "Su" did change everything, now SuperSu binaries are installed, KingUser is gone. Thank you! I've been busting my head over typo. -.-
