Ok, I just bought an HTC Acquire with Android Version 2.3.4 HTC Sense 3.0 Software number 1.26.557.9 Kernel 2.6.35.10
When I reboot it into recovery mode it says:
***Locked***
Kingdom PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.22.0000
RADIO-1.11.00.0903
eMMC-boot
Aug 8 2011
I have tried to root this phone using Gingerbreak, Revolutionary, Z4root, and a few others.
When I search on Google or the XDA website I can't find absolutely anything about an HTC Acquire. It's like the internet thinks the phone doesn't exist? I recently upgraded to it from my HTC Desire CDMA Bravo-c that I had rooted, flashed a custom rom, custom kernel, custom radio, the works. But I can't for the life of me figure out this Acquire. Can someone please help with a little bit of info about this phone?

I have heard that the Acquire is the same as the HTC Evo Design so root methods for that device should work on the Acquire. However this is what I have heard and is no guarantee that it will work and there is the possibility it could brick your device if it doesn't work.

That's what I heard as well. So I've tried a few ways to root it using some of the HTC Evo Design methods, but none of them worked. :/

like the title says... is it done yet? been looking and looking for solutions to that question. i'm already rooted using the htc method. but still looking for a way to get s-off.
check the 3D general section, there are a few threads on it with varying info.
short answer though - no
There has been some effort made towards this front, with little success. Whether you think it's a smoke screen, or not, evil devnull, and his team, attempted this around thanksgiving, and couldn't come up with anything. Not sure if revolutionary is quietly working on something, or if they are waiting for the ICS update, or if they are just done with bootloader unlocking, period (I'm not bashing those guys, but they have been eerily quiet since the bootloader changed to 1.5).
The unlocked, non carrier branded GSM guys have found a way to revert back to an eariler bootloader, using the HTC unlock method, and then performing a similar method to what the thunderbolt/evo shift 4g guys did to allow the Hboot to accept a RUU with an earlier hboot.
I think this doesn't get much attention, because the HTC unlock method allows you can do almost everything you could if you had S-OFF. The only thing missing is being able to flash radios.
At this point it wouldn't make sense for devs to come up with a solution now. Not with ICS around the corner
is there a temp root for hboot 1.5?

whats ics?
The only reason why i ask is because, ##data# or what ever it is, i found my midi number using an app in market place, but when i tried to adjust my volume. it doesnt want to work. i was wondering if me having s-on and rooted is affecting it in any way.
Ics is ice cream sandwich new android OS hopefully coming to the EVO 3d early 2012.

Hello to all,
I've been searching but as i'm noob in this, i have to open new post and hope to get some help...
I recently bought an EVO 3D (according to information on "phone identify" is model X515m) that have this:
*** LOCKED ***
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT -1.49.0018
eMMC-boot
Oct 3 2011, 15:03:01
The Software Informations shows this:
Android version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense version: 3.0
From what i seen on other posts, this phone is locked, so if i want to change firmware i need to get S-OFF and make it UNLOCKED...
My questions are:
1. Since i bought this phone on ebay and don't have Portuguese PT-PT language, can i change firmware to have Portuguese?
2. Does i already have the last firmware?
3. Should i upgrade to another firmware that is improved? Battery with this one don't last much.
Thank you!
thats gsm correct??

The other is without SIM card right? My phone have SIM so yes, gsm.
No before you can s off you need to unlock your bootloader via HTC dev first
Sent from my EVO 3D gsm s off using xda premium
And you once you've unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom recovery then you can download the ruu from football he has all the ruu's for the EVO 3d GSM and CDMA

Ok, just find his post... now i just need to know the right file to get...
Other thing, is possible for me to make a backup from what i have on the phone in case something went wrong?
Concerning the unlock i've already searched and i think i can do it.
Thanks
No s off will come second first pay a visit to HTC dev this is where you will unlock your bootloader and once that is done you will need to install a custom recovery and then you can flash a Rom

ok, i've managed to get the phone unlocked but now i can't obtain S-OFF
The revolutionary way don't work on my phone because i have HBOOT 1.49.0018 and they only have 1.49.0008.
The 4EXT Recovery Touch way, i download the file but i don't know what to do with it and even if this will get what's needed to install a stock ROM that have Portuguese language...
Can you please give me some help on this?
Thanks...
--------- ok, i think i have it done with 4EXT Recovery --------------
Now i just need to choose and install the new rom
Good evening,
I want to gain super user on my HTC evo 3D GSM phone. Also I would love to have a backup of original stock due to warranty ( got 2 years).
I don't want any fancy ROM's or anything stupid.
Just original stock ICS 4.0.3 just like stock 4.0.3 but with Super user. All I want is Super user nothing else is needed.
I know how to S-off.
My boot screen says this:
Code:
[COLOR="Magenta"]*** LOCKED ***[/COLOR]
[COLOR="SeaGreen"]SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
eMMC-boot
May 22 2012,01:06:07[/COLOR]
European user no sprint here.
Do not post posts with there are guides... There are like 100 of them and most of them are about S-off and others just look like gibberish nonsenses. I would love to see a clean simple guide to receive Super user.
Thank you for your time and please don't judge me...
All roms have super user pre-installed, there's alot if roms for gsm phones, but you will have to flash new firmware for most if the current roms, after you unlock and root, 4ext recovery has the option of backing up your current rom (nandroid backup) and flash to your hearts content with boot loops

Thanks for fast response, but your post is not helping at all... I could use some real links to ROM and how to root it. As I stated above I don't need anything fancy just ICS 4.0.3 with SU. and please no short forms, lost in the meanings To my understanding as a computer engineer and programmer Boot loop is a loop that keeps booting and reseting it and do the same till the end of times But I guess in android community it means something else
Ok , go to the evo 3d gsm forum and you will find rom's galore, I am done here, no thanks is required and have fun with all the boot loops oh I forgot :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

AFAIK, Superuser access will require you to root your phone. If you want to root it, try the HTCdev method and then install SuperSU from the market.

Unfortunately there is no method for gaining s-off without having to unlock first. However with this guide that ramjet73 put together you can have your phone s-off with "locked" bootloader by the time you finish performing the wire trick. You will have to have to unlock your phone and gain root first before you perform the wire trick. A lot of people have said that using a paper clip works the best. Well here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
Dont forget to hit the thank you button if I helped you in anyway and don't forget to drop a thank you for ramjet either.
Thanks for the referral jsparta26, but he's got a GSM model and my guide is specifically for Sprint S-ON phones.
If you had the CDMA version you could do the hboot 1.4 downgrade for S-OFF that requires bricking the phone but doesn't need HTC unlock. There was a "quick root" utility posted in the General Forum a few weeks ago that didn't work on the CDMA model with the Sprint ICS build installed but I don't know if it's been tested on the GSM model yet. Post #5 in that thread says it requires HTC unlock, but the OP never confirmed that in that thread or the original version he linked.
Maybe a GSM user knows of a way to get S-OFF on your model without the HTC unlock. Are you aware that the JuopunutBear wire trick resets your bootloader status to "locked" (at least on CDMA) even though you have to do the HTC unlock as a prerequisite? There is no indication on your phone afterwards that you were ever unlocked. Once you are S-OFF you can flash whatever hboot you want.
ramjet73
Thank you both for the info. I tried the htc quick root program but it said my phone was patched and failed. I was just wondering if I could just get root without unlock or s-off.

Are you still on gb or ics? Kingcobra has a ics Rom that is was developed from the rogers ota, why do just want root access?
(don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care less if you phone explodes,eh!!!)
I'm on the official ICS update. I just wanted root to use certain apps like ad free.

Oh my bad ram. Lol I guess I overlooked that. It's all good. I'm glad you cleared that up. I am not sure how to go about getting s-off on gsm but with rams suggestion hopefully you can find the answer your looking for sithlord. Goodluck.
I was trying to S-OFF my HTC One using moonshine's method but could not get it to work properly.
As you will see from the screen shot (attached), its stuck there and doesn't go further.
I have gone over the guide multiple times. Fast boot is unchecked , USB debugging is checked, ADB and fastboot drivers are working.
I am currently using a T-Mobile version HTC one with the following software information:
Android Version: 4.1.2
HTC Sense version: 5.0
Software Number: 1.27.531.11
HTC SDK API Level: 5.12
Baseband version: 4A.17.3250.20_10.40.1150.04L
Can somebody here guide me what I am doing wrong or missed out something ?
You can't s-off. If you want to know more just use the search function or Google. This has been discussed many times in many threads.

Pretty sure u need soff to do super cid
Or anything further than just unlock and root.
You may be able to flash the older 1.27.531.8 Rom and then try it since the bootloiader wasn't updated.
If your on 1.27.531.11 you have to downgrade with a Rom or ruu
Don't quote me but I think people have don'e this to get soff
