[Q] Charging Problems Help! - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Archos 101 G9 and a few weeks ago the charing port started getting loose. Two days ago the metal sleeve completed disconnected from the unit and although is still inside the port, I am not able to charge the unit. Its out of warranty and I cannot afford (or justify the $100+) necessary to have Archos fix it. I was wondering...can the unit be charged using a USB cable connected from the 3G port to my computer? Or how easy would it be to reattach the metal sleeve back where it belongs? I'm OK with opening up the back of the unit, especially since its basically a "brick" now but how easy is it to reattach the charger sleeve?
Any help would be most appreciated. I tried looking for a previous post RE this issue but could not find it.
Thanks

Is your problem fixed ?

You can buy and braze new port. I haven't other ways.

[Q] Charging Port

Is anyone else having problems with the charging port not staying tight? When I first got the phone the original charger worked fine. Over time it loosened up, and I understand that. But it got to the point where it didn't charge. So I've been using an old cable. I went to Verizon the other day and took the original cable with me and they exchanged it for a new one(their brand of course). Well the other night, the old cable I've been using to transfer stuff to my phone is to the point where if you move it any it disconnects from computer. And tonight the new cable I got a couple days ago is loose. it's still working though. When I first got it it fit tightly in there. I've been extra careful not to pull it out at any angles or anything.
Try this cable
Try this cable. Works very well for me. Search ebay for:

[Q] Can someone help me find a way to charge my Archos 101G, please

The metal sheath that the charging cable plugs into and is connected to the motherboard (with 4 pins) has detached which has made it impossible to charge the unit. Archos wants to charge me more than the tablet is worth ( I actually got it last February as a gift), and no repair techs in my area can fix it (pins and connectors are too tiny). I thought about maybe using a charging mat but can't find one for the Archos tablet. Doesw anyone know if a mat would work? SO...I have a perfectly good tablet that cannot be charged. Can anyone help? Would anyone like to buy it for parts?
repair
The battery inside archos tablet are not designed to charge with a mat.
The only way for you is to repair the mainboard.

[Q] My S3 is not charging

Like a week ago my S3 9300 was taking longer and longer to charge now it won't charge at all, now is always stuck at 0% if i turn it off it will charge but very very slowly, i don't know if it's the phone or the battery maybe someone here had the same problem and could help me out a little, btw i have it with CM 10.1 thank you
Alejo
Had the same exact problem with my i9300, got it out of warranty repairs yesterday. Was using a custom rom, but the same thing happened when I finally managed to flash it back to stock (had to manually press the microusb-cable as hard as I could into the phone all the time in order to get the phone recognized while Odin was working, was the longest flash ever lol..).
Remember reading about cold solder joints etc before sending it off, so if your phone is out of warranty for some reason you could replace the charging port yourself. Replacement part costs ~5$ (eBay) and if you got the skills it shouldn't be too hard to replace.
EDIT: Actually mine didn't even charge when power off, so I was pretty certain it was a bad solder joint or some other physical problem.. Have you tried cleaning the usb port with pressured air or just blowing into the port? Could be some pins of the usb port blocked with debris. Also check your usb cables, there are those with 5 pins and those with only 4. Saw the difference in charging speed while the thing was still working.

Well actually when i plug the phone into the PC it will recognize it and i can access the files in the SD card and Internal Memory and everything at the moment it's turned off and it's charging.
I have the problem that the phone only want to charge with soms chargers.
I can connect the phone to the original charger or to a pc or any device without problems, the phone will charge.
Even with an old blackberry charger (only 2 wires, no data) and car charger can i charge without any problem!
But when i connect the phone to the htc charger of my old phone, or to an iphone charger i see the phone is connected but it won't charge.
When i open batterymonitor i see that the charger is connected, but the phone still use his battery.
I tried this with all kinds of charders and all kinds of micro usb cables. Then i thaught there was maybe a resistor or chip or something build in some chargers, because i couls only charge with chargers with 2 wire cables.
Then i took a usb extension cable and i disconnected the two data wires so only the + and - 5V cables were left,
but still no success. If anybody knows where the problem is, please let my know
with kind regards! Martijn

Help with Xperia Z2 USB connector

Hello, first of all apologize for my English.
My Xperia Z2 has problems with the USB connector, I know you have some reports of this, but I think I have not found any solution yet. He is almost 3 years old, I think it is normal to present problems, but I still do not want to change my cell phone.
I am having serious problems trying to connect it with the charger via usb, I have to wrap the cable around the device, pull to see if I find a way to connect it, when it connects and starts charging, after a while it starts to hurt Contact again.
When I bought the phone, I used a magnetic charger, but because it was not original cables, it went wrong and I decided to use it for the same cable. I saw that some problems occur because of connecting the magnetic to the opposite, but it has almost 2 years that I do not use and the cell phone always charged normally.
Any solution?
Hey,
I started to have the same issue until it stopped altogether. I had to disassemble my phone last week to fit a replacement LCD and digitizer, and noted that my USB connector had actually snapped off from the logic board!
~TL/DR~ The simple solution is to make use of the magnetic charger. You can get the official charging dock or cables. Both are cheap enough, easy to use and charge the device rapidly.
