Supposedly an announcement will be made in less than 20 hours. In either case, it's widely speculated that Samsung will unveil their new phone in the beginning of May (I think the 3rd?) with more details, so I'd wait until getting specifications on that.
If you need a phone right away, I'd probably suggest the HTC One X. It has the best screen available, a good processor, and HTC will supposedly give it proper attention and support for the foreseeable future.

Does seem quite likely, given that not many places have them listed for sale, but do you have any more specific information?
If you're buying from clove.co.uk, yes, they sent an email regarding the new rrelease date which is the 30th of Oct.
Also, white one x+ is rumored: http://i.imgur.com/CdzMa.jpg
I had tweeted @CloveTechnology about my order (hoping they may be in early) - but got 2 tweets, 1 saying hopefully in on Friday, the next saying about the delay...
May be more info soon - i'll post it up if I hear more...

I got the same e-mail today.
And I hadn't heard about the white one, but it wouldn't surprise me.

yeah, same thing is here about white one. I asked them if they'd change my order to white one without any hope. I'm waiting their response! :/
Waiting for the phone to be released and a recovery to be made so I can release a toolkit for the phone! It's already pre-built by me. Just need a recovery to complete it!

Hopefully they are delaying the release to up the ram from 1gb to 2. To me it would make sense since its becoming the new standard.

If they did make this 2gb of ram I'd buy it the second it landed in USA for AT&T! Since its only 1gb and on all new software, going to need a lot of hands on to see what actual usable ram is available and how smooth it runs with a handful of apps in the background. For such an impressive specs, seeing only 1gb listed makes you look twice as if it was hopefully a typo am suppose to be 2gb of ram. Guess well see soon enough.

That will probably be the next iteration of the One X. The one initially coming out will have only 1 GB of RAM unless HTC has managed to keep a secret locked down tighter than the CIA! I figure we'll see a One X+ w/ 2GB RAM in about 6 months.

Yes, they will most probably hijack their flagship again in 6 month!!! WTF!!!!!
The ONE X was released in may, 5 month later the ONE X+ comes out!!!!!!!
The same happened also with the sensation/sensation XE!!!!!!
If they want to keep us HTC fans happy they'll better be releasing ONE strong flagship model per year and the appropiate support for it for at least one and a half years!!!!!!
look at the galaxy s2 - it has been released in one year and 6 month ago, but samsung still offering appropiate support for it! - JB updates and so on will come till end of the year!!!
Take the sensation XE - released one year ago - already forgotten!! Jelly Bean??? from HTC??? of course not....
Your devices are very good>
smooth design, best sound, sense is the smoothest and most beautiful (compared to touchwiz and all that crap), very good specs,
BUT!!!!!!!
Your marketing strategy is CRAP HTC!!!!!!! You'll get bancrupt in less than 2 years if you don't change this pretty quick....
Your name will be next to brands like alcatel and toshiba in the phone industry if you don't do something about it....
and keeping your clients happy is way more important that the device itself.... and this is what you are neglecting......
2 gigs of ram and i would have jumped on it in a heartbeat.

LOL, good joke.
The One X+ and One X are identical. Maybe you never noticed, but Sensation and Sensation XE are getting the exact same amount of support.
Two flagships a year is fine, especially when the two in a year are nearly identical. The One X+ is just for people that don't want to take a gamble on buying a One X, especially when they could get an HT23 model or something similar that would likely have a massive number of defects.
In your eyes, HTC is "going bancrupt" no matter what. Either they don't release the One X+, and the One X sucks compared to the GS3 and every other smartphone out there. If they do release the One X+, they release a phone on par with everything else... and suck anyways, because they're "abandoning the older models", even though they will get the exact same amount of support.
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/12/11/htc-android-4-1-jelly-bean-update-list-leaks/
fingers crossed.
One can only hope
If it's coming from football then I'll believe that HTC is going to be updating SOME devices. The Inc 2 was supposed to have official ics in August, but they're still on gb. Granted, going from ics to jb is probably easier than gb to ics, but I won't believe it till I see it. The high end phones are most likely to be updated first (one x, xL etc) while ours will probably be here 2q-3q 2013. Just speaking from experience all my droids have been HTC it's sad but it's way the things work. it's cheaper for oem's to push out new devices rather than update older versions
we will be getting JellyBean
We will... The question is when. Most likely, our awesome devs will beat HTC to it.
Does Project Butter require "optimized" hardware to give any benefit or will it improve latency on any device?
For everyone that had a parent that would smack them one minute then hug them the next, I dare you to read on...

Considering they promised an update in September I wouldn't count on it.
Hit thanks if I helped! Check out my site at www.circuitsaviors.com
Geeze I'm going to get a nexus 5 and be up .3 levels ha.
Probably will show up on Dec 31 at 11:58 so its technically before the end of the year

I think Phandroid is off base here. Jason Mackenzie's tweet mentions the T-Mobile HTC One specifically, not the DNA. Then @AndrewGriffitt asks when the DNA will get its update, and Mackenzie responds with the December time frame, but nowhere does he mention that it will be 4.3. The DNA's update is 4.2 (4.2.2?) according to what we've last heard from Verizon, and now it sounds like that update won't come till December.
Am I reading this wrong? Or should I be expecting 4.3 now?

I think @jasonmacHTC mentioned in earlier tweets that the next update for the DNA will be the 4.2 update w/ Sense 5.0. I don't think there is an ETA on the 4.3 update with Sense 5.5. I think that's HTC's plan (based on rumors I've read)....eventually, but it definitely won't be this year. This year, its all about 4.2 and Sense 5.0
Big Red
I think HTC would slap 4.3 on it today if Verizon would let them. Verizon has to add Navigator and all that other stuff. Look at the ONE. Verizon is the last to update. I've learned that updates don't come with Verizon. I don't root my phones so I just live with what I bought. If I happen to get an update then that's all the better. Verizon still lists this phone at $199. They treat it like a flip phone.
it's pretty basic really. Verizon is in the phone business, they want to sell phones and contracts. If they update our phones to the latest and greatest well then we wouldn't want to change our phones every two years. Android is basically the same across all phones minus the hardware and camera tweaks. So I'm running Sense 5 on my phone and I have access to features that are only on the HTC One like Zoe... Why would I swap my phone for a One at this point? I wouldn't.... see my point? Can't really blame Verizon for their business model. So we root and load ports and AOSP ROMs to get the latest features Verizon refuses to provide so they can make a few extra phone sales and extend some contracts.
I'm still only going to expect a 4.2/4.2.2 update with some iteration of Sense 5 by the year's end (hopefully). Until some new information comes to light anyway.
I also fully expect that to be the final OTA of any significance for this phone, knowing Verizon.

I would rather have a faster processor with more RAM than a 2 year old phone running the newest version of Android. I'll take speed over a revamped app drawer anyday. An update to Android (yipeee!) isnt going to make me want to hang on to an old phone at the rate that this cell phone technology improves. I wouldnt swap my DNA for a One either. But for a LG G2, a Note 3, a One Max, maybe!
" So we root and load ports and AOSP ROMs to get the latest features Verizon refuses to provide so they can make a few extra phone sales and extend some contracts."
Exactly. It's Verizon's genius business model that fuels all of this, or a lot of it anyway.

But even the technology spread to the phones you mention are not that far off the hardware we already have. I think we will start to see a small plateau on hardware improvement for a little while until new architecture comes out like 64bit processors (like the iPhone 5s) So at this point software and camera features will start to be the real selling point for phones

I see what your saying. I guess I just miss the days when every year you could look forward to something new. That and I've always been the type of person that wants the latest and greatest, within reason of course, not one of these I-sheep standing in line for a new I-phone, or paying too much as a early adopter. Lol.
When my Droid X's contract was up last October, it seemed like a dinosaur in comparison to what was out, the S3 being the cream at the time. Then when I heard about the DNA I was hyped. 1080p, wireless charging, great processor, etc. I got it for $120 online and was happy as heck. Still seems quick and the video looks superb.

That was for T-Mobile wasn't it?
Hopefully someone will be able to port it. Seems like that's all we ever wait on is a port.
Do you guys think it is worth using my upgrade to the M8? I have seen the rumors of the M9 (Hima) but not sure if I should wait it out. I like the Moto X 2014 as well but it is in my opinion a bit more aged then the M8 in terms of performance and battery life. Since I only get an upgrade every 2 years, trying to make the best of it by getting a phone that will be supported by the aftermarket and it looks like since I can flash to developer or GPE edition on the M8 that Google should support it for a while no? Let me know what you guys think who are owners of the phone.

My two cents:
Once you get whatever phone it is, it will soon be supplanted with "The Next Big Thing."
When I got my HTC One X, it was THE flagship HTC phone.. As soon as I got it, the One M7 came out.
I just upgraded to the One M8, and already a new phone is coming out - less than a year since ATT started offering the M8.
Regardless of when you get the phone, it will be supported by HTC/ATT for probably 2 years (for OS updates), so waiting essentially prolongs your use of your current phone until you get the new one... At which point your new phone will be "old" in about 1 year (approx. half-way through your contract).
If you wait and get the "M9," you won't be disappointed....until about a year after when the "M10" will come out and you wish you had waited even longer...
My upgrade was available 2 weeks ago and I'm holding off till the M9 is released. Granted I already got the M8 but point is if you can hold off Lil longer I would
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
As far as At&t goes and the many devices that are bootlooader locked I believe the M8 to be an awesome decision
If you do decide to buy it I would rush to S-OFF
If making the most of a 2-year upgrade, I'd hold off. The M8 is still one of the best (if not the best) smartphones on the market. But its still "last years model". M9 is supposed to release Q1, with some rumors even claiming it would be announced at CES and released soon after (which we now know is not the case).
