Hi
A newbie could use some serious help. I have an Xperia X10 2010 model that came up with Android 1.6 which I upgraded to 2.1 last year.
Contract over, got it network unlocked. Now, I was able to remove all gmail acounts except for the one associated with Android. Since I need to pass on this phone to family, I need to get rid of that main account.
If Restoring Factory Settings is an option, I can't use it since it'll throw me back to Android 1.6 and checking for an available android update needs a network to be active.
So here I am, want to remove that one bloody account. And upgrade the device to a faster Android version (2.1 is outdated, slow and sucks big time).
I'd be really thankful to get any kind of hel on this one.
Best
SM
Go to the sony mobile website, download the update centre software and install it, after that plug in your phone and follow the on screen instructions.
could you just use flashtool to flash the generic stock 2.3.3 or 2.1 ROM.
that'll quickly fix your problem
or download over wifi?

That's gonna download the latest OFFICIAL version available with Sony for the phone, which, as a matter of fact, is 2.1.
How to remove the associated account first of all?

So the Falshtool should remove my associated account? And since I have 2.1 currently, flashing would persist the version. Android 2.1 and alter, which one is the most stable version for this model?
Thanks for the reply bud!!

A factory reset will not send you back to 1.6 it would factory reset the 2.1. Use this link to get 2.3 and don't this will also remove your google account from the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=

The latest official version is 2.3.3.
U hv unlocked the network. Doesn't mean u don't hv an active network. It means u can use any service provider's sim in ur phone. Also, I don't think a sim needs to be in the phone to update it.
And factory reset will only reset the settings to the ones which are default in current android version. The settings in ur actual settings menu. eg.: ur accounts, ringtone, display brightness, that kinda stuff. No changes are made to the firmware.
Upgrade to 2.3.3 instead btw. Don't bother staying on 2.1.. use sony PC companion. Connect the phone, start PC companion. It'll tell u by itself there's an update available. Follow the steps.. don't setup an account when it switches on after update. Pass it on to ur family

if i wanna DIY
will i have to debrand it?
It is easier than you think
It is easier than you think...to update
I have...well had ... a singapore x10i ....
1. use one root apk ... X10Root 1.0.8
one root apk
2. back up using Titanium ( but people have lost hundreds of contacts having upgraded )or better...sync your contacts and calendar events with google ...its what i did
3. use root explorer to "debrand" ... which is really changing the product codes
uh.... well this then defeats the waiting for updates... I live in the West Indies / Caribbean... so debranding is not an issue at all
4. if your still following me...you will need to debrand twice..one to upgrade to 026 ... then again to get to 2.1
All this is done without having to actually "flash your phone" or use "roms" or " flash tools " .... safest method if your really dying to get to 2.1...I was

yes i also synced with google.
now..i downloaded the apk
can u tell me how to proceed to from here?
how to update to 026 first so i can get to 2.1?
i don't think there's a need to go to 026. u should be able to go straight to 2.1
Noct, which operator r u using?
PS: The update is already available via SEUS a few days ago.

U probably used the wrong baseband.... if u check it will probably say baseball unknown.... but to be sure we need. More info on what u did and how u tried to do it.
In any case u should just flash a 2. 1 firmware with flashtool and if that doesn't fix ur problem then repair with sues.

Thanks man, I used the baseband that came with the 015 of 2.3.2 gingerbread. My phone says X10A, but the drivers X10I.
If I cant get it going soon I will try 2.1
Could the baseband that came the rom be the wrong one? Ive also updated to 016.
thx
To ensure it works first flash your phone to either the 54 or 55 baseband, then flash the Rom.
I am quite sure that flashing a Rom will not change your baseband, so check the start of the Rom thread for which baseband is required to run the Rom.

The phone has .54 baseband. I've tried 2.1_2_1_A_0_435_GLOBAL and that doesn't work either...
What do I need to do exactly to get any rom to work with my network? If someone could take a few minutes to help, It would be greatly appreciated.
well as you need the phone urgently, id connect it to SEUS and repair back to the original SE firmware, that way you should be able to make your calls to NZ, you can then fiddle around with Roms once youve covered your emergency.

I just tried SEUS twice, but it just keeps coming up with the last installed rom I tried.. This is all very confusing..
If my phone is x10a does that mean I can only rom a x10a and get service in my country?

Flashtool.
Nice, you have brown phone. Remove battery and check on sticker on phone, most likely you will see prototype
you can try with SEUS, I don't expect it to work but you can try.
Don't know if flashtool supports brown phones, I would first ask creator of flashtool. I expect it to work, but ask first
if it says prototype, I would first check what fw is on the phone, is it branded, what region.
some prototypes can die if you flash new fw on them.

Well, not really a big worry. Some people want to have prototypes
Prototypes, from phone models which actually released, meaning you can find that phone model in store, can sometimes be final products, meaning even though they are prototypes, they can be flashed and used like other units. I have one W715, it's final version of prototype, so it can be flashed, but it wasn't in store
Prototypes, from phone models which aren't released are more likely tricky, it need to be careful with them.

If it's working as it is, and if it isn't branded fw, I wouldn't mess with it

Hi Guys,
I am very annoyed with data connection loss and heard that this latest rom fixes this. I am currently running 6.1.A.0.453 but PCC still think I have the latest version, even Sony website said the latest version is 6.1.A.2.45.
Any idea when the rom will be available on my phone because if I have to put up with this for another week I will smash it to the wall.
Thanks

Find the ftf file with the newest version and install via flashtool
Unless you have cwm recovery... Then just install the flashable zip from development forum

Flashtool.
Does it requires the phone to be rooted? I really don't want to root it because my Mobile Banking app will not work if the phone is rooted :crying:

I flashed the 6.1.A.2.45 and all good. Battery seems ok but for some reason Android System is right at the top with 40% and screen at 15%, I would of thought this should be the other way around. Checked the graph for details and I noticed that the phone was AWAKE all night even though I switched it to airplane mode.
I am now thinking about doing a wipe but I'm not sure which option to use 'Factory data reset' or 'Settings reset'. Does the factory data reset delete all my data like photos, musics & docs?
I'm so confused!!
I have Sony Xperia L C2015 - Android 4.2.2 - 15.3.A.1.17
I have done Root access successfully, and my Bootloader still locked, I used this method to root my phone " http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/root-firmware-15-3-1-12-t2591290".
Now I need to make Factory Reset to clean everything then Reroot then Install my apps in a clean condition .
Now the question is:
How to make factory reset and return back to the original condition of the phone?????
Knowing that I'm not an expert, so please anyone give an easy tutorial
I appreciate any help ... Thanks
Hello there.
The best way I would recommend is to flash stock firmware.
To flash stock firmware. You will need the following.
A. Flast tool.
B. The firmware you want. (preferably 1.14 firmware)
C. Usb cable.
D. PC.
Follow the steps below.
Download the Flash tool.(links provided).
Download the Firmware, Stock FTF links provided.
Install the Flash tool and the drivers for your device.
Install fastbook and flashboot drivers too.
Click the thunder symbol.
Choose Flash mode.
Browse to choose the firmware you downloaded.
Power off your phone and connect your phone to the computer via USB while holding the power down button.
The phone will be flashed.
Once it is done, You will have your phone in factory settings.
Feel free to customize it.
Hit the thanks button if i helped.

Thanks mate
Now there is two other things:
1- I had already downloaded the 15.3.A.1.17 firmware ftf, I afraid to be not the original one, and someone had edited it, how could I now that this firmware is the original one from Sony??
2- If it is the original firmware, then, once I flashed it with the flashtool, my phone will return to be unrooted and I'll receive the OTA updates normally as any unrooted phone?
Thanks for your effort bro.
Sent from my C2105 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You will get OTA updates. Even with the 1.14 version. That version is not modified or anything. All FTFs are original ones. And All receive OTA updates as it will if it was never rooted. Unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Incase you have an unlocked bootloader, you have to lock your bootloader to get OTA updates.
Hit the thanks button if i have helped you.
Ok, thanks bro. for your help

Feel free to ask me for any help you need. Even if you plan on upgrading your phone to KitKat viz the so many ROMs we have for our phone!
Another Question
I had read many people threads that they flashed firmwares but they had an issue, that the region is not true, like Hong kong or UK.
How could I know that this region is mine, and how can I check the region area on my phone ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that possible to return to the stock state by using Sony PC Companion directly without any flashing or anything that the luck is playing a big role ??
There wont be any problem. I personally have never had any problems. Even though i have done this for years!

Where do you live? Check the firmware list to see if there is any firmware for your region. If not, download the world firmware
I live in India. So i download the Indian firmware. Well, I use the world firmware though
