[Q] Edit Framework-res.apk for add multiview app - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, you know, today samsung give us android 4.1.2 with multiview!
I was looking to how to add other app to multiview, and i saw that all i need to do is to add some line to framework-res.apk into file arrays under res/values.
I'd like to add into multiview whatsapp and instagram (i don't use lots applications...)
I decompiled it with apktool, but now when i try to recomplile it gave me error...
Is there someone who would do that? If you want to add other app and share it with the comunity is not a problem,!
Here is a litte how to:
go to /res/values/arrays.xml
find the part relating to multiview (search ‘multi’)
add package names for apps you want added and save (in my case com.whatsapp and com.instagram.android)
Thanks in advance,
EniJ
PS. Sorry for my bad english!

Hi,
Take a look here:
[No Root Needed] Customise Your Own Apps to Work With MultiView on Android 4.1.2

gonna test soon

I tested it and works well for 80/90% of apps
In other case, the app goes full screen

Possible to remove picture icon from "contacts"?

Probably more of a general Android question, but thought I'd give it a go here. On way to work shortly, so apologies for my lack of proper search.
Once upon a time on my SGS, someone showed me where these icons are located - I'm sure I'll find them again, but I guess I'll have to do some kind of text realignment, which is probably out of my depth.
I just want my contacts to show as a list - no icons, no photos.
Stock KE2, rooted via CWM, have Root Explorer.
Many thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction - will do further research when I get to work.
Hello!
Yes I have same question!
I Dont use photos for Contacts - So it use Empty Icons and neccesary space so....
Please Help to remove Contacts Photo Icons from Logs and Contacts PLEASE!

Might not be what you want but you could replace the image with a blank one in the framework or twframework file.

No. Pictures(res\drawable-hdpi-finger\contacts_default_image_small_01 - 05.png) are in Contact.apk file. When I remove'em from it - empty spaces remain there - so it's not expand Contacts lines to that space... So we need to encrease table row size...
Well, the contacts db is located here:
/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
I don't know how you plan to decipher this file. It's neither xml nor plist (like iphone).

I just checked go contacts ex and it can do what you want via a setting. Works very well.

The contacts2.db is a sqlite database file. You'll need the sqlite3 executable to view it's contents (eg. sqlite3 contacts2.db).
Don't think it'll do what the OP wants as it contains contact details and not the layout of the contact list. Think you'll need to decompile the apk and edit one of the drawable/*.xml files.
Haven't really looked at this but a guess would be it's one of the .XMLs in res/laout in the Contact.apk where you can edit out the imageview for the photo.
Yep, looks like it's in res/layout/favorite_contact_list_item.xml
Someone's reading my mind - I was thinking of bumping this thread last night... spooky!
As suspected, I'm out of my depth here - but thanks for the replies everyone, I may try to get back into my depth over the weekend. It's one of those not-really-a-big-deal-but-it-still-bugs me things.
Just switched from adw to Go launcher. Not a fan of 3rd party apps for contacts/SMS, but I'll give it a look.
Thanks again to all.
I tried GO launcher. Wasn't a fan of it. Anyway on ICS these picture icons are even more of a pain! Why do you need a picture of yourself next to every text you send in the thread!?!? And why do you need a picture of the person you are texting next to their text. Have a picture of the person on the list of threads fine.... but not in the thread itself thats stupid and takes up to much screen space.
Who wrote that into ICS? Not an improvement!
Has anymore found a way to change it in ICS?

[REQ] swipe to remove notifications

Hi guys !!
I'm looking for a mod that adds swipe to remove notifications on my Arc S.
It's in the all in one mod but i don't need everything in this mod ^^
And i've found this thread , where there is a tutorial to add it "manually" but it's a bit tricky to do it by myself...
And the search function didn't return something "premade" useful...
Thanks in advance ;-)

I'm not sure if there is a mod released on its own, however from the tutorial it says to edit the framework.jar and systemui.apk so you could just push those 2 to your phone instead but that still might contain some of the other mods, but its worth a shot if you don't want to go through editing it manually.

Noob question

I'm rather new at this customizing android hobby and I have a question.
For now I would like to stick to my rooted leaked 4.2.2 touchwiz, but I do want to change colors and stuff.
I'm using wanamlite rom to adjust the notication and quick settings area.
But I would like to alter for instance the dialer as well. The one when you are IN a call, not before you call.
Can I put the secphone.apk on my pc, unzip it, make the changes to the xml files and different png's. Then zip it back to the apk file and replace it on my samsung?

Hi,
If you post a topic with "Noob question" as title, no one will ever respond to it. Please refer to the posting rules.
I'm surprised this have not been deleted.
Besides that, trying to help you:
I've never tried to modify APKs, but i'm pretty shure you'll need APKTool for that. Google-search it.
You need apktool to decompile and compile apk's.
Search xda for apktool and search for a treat where they explain modding apk's.
It's not that easy as you think.
You can found it all here on xda.
Good luck with modding apk's.
verzonden met de xda premium app.
There are modding guides around the forum .

Phone APK? And S-Finder

What is the filename and path for the S5 phone apk? I want to theme my friends phone apk for him.
Also, how are you guys getting rid of S=Finder from the pulldown?
i think all the apk files should list under system/app folder and to get rid of S-Finder from pulldown, just install Xposed G-Touchwiz.
You didn't give us enough information to really know what you want.
There are several phone packages e.g. the dialer and the in call screen
/system/priv-app/SecTeleService.apk
/system/priv-app/InCallUI.apk
For S-Finder, you didn't tell us if you meant removing it from the user defined set of Quick Notification toggles.. or permanently remove it. Or if you meant the quick search window. Lots of threads on all of those, so a forum search is always the best place to go first.

[Q] Quick Settings mtk device SystemUI.ss

Hi guys...
One of my first posts on here.
I'm having trouble modifying the quick settings toggles on my Cubot X9. Chinese phone with mediatek hardware.
The quick settings have been modified by Cubot by the looks of it, now the problem is, I don't want it looking like this, the white is HIDEOUS!
I've tried xposed mods, after a long deodexing session, but none of the quick settings mods work. Its not xposed, because other mods work.
I have dug into my priv-app folder, but couldn't find SystemUi.apk anywhere, only a SystemUI_ss.apk instead. This seems to be a modified systemui.
What the hell is this about? And how can I mod it? I don't really want to decompile and recompile, because it doesn't even have the values folder with all the XML files in it...
I baffled!!
Please someone help me.. I have screenshots but am not allowed to post as under 10 posts :\ pm me for screens if needed. They show the quick settings and the SystemUI_ss.apk

You will have to decompile the apks. You will most likely have to search for them. Not a whole to do other wise. You might even have to find a different apktool to do the job as most don't deal with the way China based devices alter system apks.
Hey, I have the same issue too. Just recently received my Cubot X9 and I have managed to perfect near everything but those damn ugly white and green quick settings :/ I would LOVE to hear from anyone who manages to fix/get around this issue Please send me an email at [email protected] if you figure it out

Hey, I'm sorry but my English is very poor. I also Cubot X9 and I do not mind the white background and green icons but I'd like quick setting as CyanogenMod. Does anyone know how to add it?
Finally getting somewhere! I had to decompile the apk and then recompile.
Replacing the original Systemui_ss.apk
The only way I can find that works.
I now have grey background instead of white, and no stpuid grey pulley up thing that doesn't have a use :/
If anyone wants screens or guidance on what files I'm changing along the ways, feel free to ask. I will be writing a guide once I've played somemore and got everything boned down.
I look forward to some guidance and immediately try. However, I would also welcome Cm ROM for my device. Sorry. My English is very bad using Google translate
