I downloaded Font Installer on my Kyocera Rise and I attempted to change my font. Soon after installing the fonts it required a reboot and the phone is on a bootloop due to that. When i go to system recovery, at the very bottom it says: E:Cannot load volume /misc . Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like something got messed up with the mount point for the /misc partition, it can be fixed by modifying the mount points in recovery.fstab, but do not try this if you don't know what your doing you can mess up your recovery. Do you have a custom recovery installed? Try doing a factory reset if you only have the stock recovery, if you have Clockworkmod Recovery installed whipe cache and do a factory reset. If that doesn't work re-install the stock firmware for your phone.

No, I do not have a custom recovery installed nor Clockworkmod. I tried to do a factory reset and wipe cache partition but the same message appears.

Yes, nothing works. I can't just take it into the store, either. I changed the boot logo. -_-

So, what do i do? I have access to the Recovery mode and Download mode and that, but i can't start the phone. it shows a simple white Android text on a black background. This happened when i flashed it and installed Cyanogen. I installed 2.3 before that, and 2.3 worked like a charm. I really need help ASAP, i need the phone tomorrow, i have an important meeting!
I tried to install the 2.3 ROM again, but after it's finished the white text is still there.
It would be nice to get a reply here.

When you say 'flash', do you mean what i do in ODIN or in recovery mode?

Well, guessing that you use ODIN to flash (install the rom of your device) the rom, then there (also done in CWM Recovery). But I am saying, did you format the device before doing this?

If you're talking about formatting the sd card before flashing... no.
If you're talking about formatting the device data in Recovery before flashing... no
Do you think i should try formatting it first, and then flashing? I'm going to have a go at flashing through Odin and then through Recovery, as i originally did. This time with a format first
someone please help

Yes, I meant formatting the device data while in recovery, before flashing.
I did everything I was supposed to do, first succesfully rooted the phone. Then I put the zip file with the rom into the sd card and then went into recovery mode, installed file from zip and it said success in install so I chose to reobot and now it hangs there... Any one can help me out? I'm scared...

A bit more details. What phone model? What were you trying to flash? Where does it hang, on the Samsung boot animation, or in the recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Galaxy s2 international (gt 19100). It hangs on the boot logo, which now is a yin yang with ics on it, I guess this is a NEAT thing. I can go into recovery mode, it just hangs if I try to boot normally.

The yin yang boot logo is actually the kernel. (Siyah)
You should probably try a factory reset/wipe data from recovery. This will alleviate 90% of boot loops and stuck on boot issues.
How do I do that?

You just said above you can boot to recovery... Once you are in recovery mode, can you not follow the recovery menu system to find the wipe data/factory reset option? It should be pretty straightforward.
I'm not running Siyah, so I don't know what the exact menu item is called in the recovery image that is in that kernel.
I tried that but it still does the same thing... any other tips?

Actually, let's take a couple steps back.
What model phone do you have? It's printed on the label under your battery.
it says model GT-i9100
ssn i9100GSMH

Ok. Are you SURE you're doing a wipe data/factory reset when in recovery? If so, then I'd flash a stock firmware, full wipe again, then try the Neat ROM install again.

Find all you need to know here.
As an easy rule before installing any new ROM (that isn't an upgrade from a previous version ex. Cm10 builds or if otherwise stated ) wipe data , cache and dalvik cache , which is under advanced

Try
Go to recovery
wipe data
wipe cache
advanced/wipe dalvik cache
go back
mounts and storage
format system
format data
format cache
go back
install rom
Hi All,
i think i just softbricked my S3. i was running Omega rom 33.2 and found the phone was unstable. Hence i wiped data, factory reset, clear dalvik cache and etc. after flashing the rom, it got stucked at samsung boot screen.
i even tried to reflash the rom but still failed to boot up. after that i decided to flash stock rom using Odin (I9300ZSDLK2). it managed to boot in but then it got stucked at recovery (failed to mount /system (Invalid argument). i thought it could be something wrong with the /system, i then flash CWM to format /system. obvious i wont be asking for help if that step succeeded. i basically got pawned because i am not able to mount /system. anybody can help me?
Have you tried flashing your nandroid backup that you'll have made at one time before flashing a ROM?

no backup. i think nandroid restore wont help also because of /system is dead. i need to solve /system mounting issue.
Try full format then flash a stock firmware package in Odin.
Go into mounts and storage and format: System, data, cache and internal SD if you have it backed up.
Then re flash stock firmware, this has got me out of soft bricks lots of times.

Unfortunately it still won't work. I have decided to send back to sc but before that I need to find a way to completely kill my phone. Meaning no download or recovery mode. Anyway thanks for your help.

If you are able to get into download mode, you can try flashing a PIT file. It will either really brick your phone or fix it. Search for the PIT file in the forums.
Remember when u flash a rom with pit file u need to tick repatition in odin..
But only do THIS in your case, never do it otherwise..
Good luck
Hi Guys
I am new to playing around with android but not to electronics. I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 16gb (SCH-i905) with current 4g service.
Here is the problem I am having:
It started yesterday, I was browsing the web and the tablet froze and then rebooted. After the reboot programs randomly freeze and crash, if I reboot anything I have downloaded is gone and anything I deleted is back and I can't install or remove apps. I figured I had something corrupted and a factory wipe would fix it. Unfortunately when I perform a factory wipe from the menus or through Android recovery nothing happens. The tablet boots up like nothing was erased. Still has all my accounts, security pin, apps, and so on.
So after that I figured I would flash the tablet, I found the thread here in the development forum with the stock 3.2 image to load through ODIN. I downloaded everything, followed the instructions. ODIN says the flash was successful but when the tablet reboots it still has all my info and is running 4.0.4. I have tried this multiple times. I have tried loading CWM with ODIN but it will not stick.
Any thoughts? If you need more information I will get it, I am just stuck and can't find anything that helps me with this problem!
Thanks for your help!!!
If you want cwm to load after you install it using odin, then you must immediately boot the tablet into recovery without letting it run normally. During the normal boot process, CWM is deleted and the stock recovery is restored. Therefore once Odin finishes installing CWM, hold the volume up button and once you get to the recovery mode you will be running CWM instead of the stock recovery module.
Regards,
Michael
Yes, I did read that in the multiple thread about installing CWM and have gone into recovery directly after ODIN reboots the tablet, however it is still only the stock recovery app.
Any ideas why the factory reset / data wipe won't work?
So after several more hours working on this problem I think I have come across the root cause. I believe that my internal storage has corrupted and is now only mounting in Read-Only mode. From everything I can find online, without having root access previously, this is a no go for fix it yourself.
In case anybody happens on this post down the road, I have been unable to find a resolution and it would appear I must sent the unit back to Samsung for repair.

factory reset through the stock recovery should be able to get you out of it (RO filesystem).

I guess that blows my theory out of the water. I can't make heads or tails with this. No matter what I do, Menu Factory Reset, Recovery Wipe/Reset, ODIN Flash Stock EG01 firmware, ODIN flash CWM Recovery as soon as this device reboots I am right back where I started....... GAH!!!
Thanks for letting me know I'm probably wrong.

HI Pershoot!
I forgot to say thanks for your help!! I appreciate someone smarter than me lending a hand.
That said, I just tried to flash CWM from DB Galaxy Roms/CM10 folder. Upon reboot the tablet still entered stock recovery, I have tried this several times, but this time I took a video. If you feel so inclined to watch it maybe you can catch me doing something wrong....
Again thanks for your help!!

I had to do this on mine. http://techne.alaya.net/?p=8829. I rooted and modified the file described in the steps. Weirdly enough it still booted into stock recovery the first time I installed CWM. I installed CWM one more time and the tablet now boots into CWM.
