Hey guys, I'm running Aokp and randomly lost data connection today. Everything has been working great and I love the ROM. Cell connection is fine but my data connection just stopped working. I'm coming off of a clean wipe and rom installation. I've checked my data settings and don't see anything wrong. Any idea what could be the problem. Thanks!

How are your speeds? Mine are extremely slooooowwwww
I also having trouble with data connections. Tried the fix above and have only edge network. Has anyone been able to get 3g? I am running Task's AOKP and everything was fine until this morning sometime.
Worked like a charm. Thanks guys.
I had the same issues starting today (dallas/fort worth area) and the above apn setting changes got my data back. Speeds are lower than before but not by a whole lot, getting 3.2Mbps down instead of hovering around 4 or so before. Upload is horrid though, 228kbps now...but hey it works again
On AOKP, the APN is already setup that will work. Instead of the first one, choose ATT LTE and change the apn to "Phone" Should work just fine.

I started having problems Friday and into Saturday in places I always have good service. Seems to have cleared up today, though.
I'm now having an issue sending pictures through the stock jellybean SMS app 'messaging'. I hit the attachment icon, navigate to the picture I'd like to text and it sends, and shows 'sending' forever. Eventually it will notify me that the picture failed to deliver. Then it will continue to try to send to no avail. Never had this problem until the other day when all of this happened. Any corrrelation/thoughts?

Hello. Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have this problem on my Galaxy Nexus AOKP milestone 6 maguro. I'm with Wind Mobile in Canada so how would I get that info or where did you get that info so I can find it for Wind. I drop my 3g connection at LEAST 3 times a day and its driving me insane (turning on airplane mode to fix), probably going back to stock if I can't get help.
Anyone care to help? Thanks!

I know I should open up my own thread which I probably will later since I've been searching the forums everywhere for my problem, but I'll ask here first.

UCLC5 was the very first ICS leak for our Notes. If coming from stock, you can just use the following ROM link:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22134-sgh-i717uclc5-ice-cream-sandwich/
Wonder what the speed differences are between UCLC5, UCLD3 and UCLE2. Be interesting to see someone with the time handy give it a go and compile the results into a multi-colored graph...
Confirmed!
Confirmed working on ATT stock non-rooted phone.
My DL speed at my current location was around 2-3mbps(sucks) now it just went to steady 12mbps and reaching as high as 20mbps after changing the APN settings.

I never have gotten lte before in my house until I flashed that modem.
My wife has a Samsung galaxy s2 from at&t as well...Her phone is not rooted....I tested her device next to mine. With that modem and settings i scored those values....Hers still gets 3-5 mpbs I tested these devices right next to each other. I believe its the combination of the modem and those settings, and or the cm9 rom?

Hello,
My GS2 suddenly stopped being able to receive sms. It can send sms and mms and receive mms. I can receive a plain text converted to mms by simply adding a subject. It's happened once before but I'm not sure what fixed it.
I'm running the latest SHOstock2 now. Though I had a previous version of it when this issue first occurred. Using the stock message app. Previously when it happened I did a backup of the rom, flashed a different rom and all my unreceived texts came pouring in. I restored the backup and sms was working again. I thought if it was an error with the software that a restore would cause the problem to remain but it didn't, until now.
None of the apn settings have been touched after flashing. Called ATT and they were useless. Can't even receive system sms.
I'm going to flash a different rom but I want to figure out what may have caused this issue so it doesn't repeat.

I heard people take their sim out and put it in another phone then place it back in their phone. It was going around the shostock2 thread
I just installed Mystic Glories rom and the issue persists. I'll flash a different kernel since they both use the same. If that doesn't work I'll try the Nexus rom that I used last time. If that fails then I'll get a different sim card. Bleh.

This seems to be similar to the issue people have been having with the latest AOKP.
That makes me thinks it's possibly something to do with the AT&T network. If they don't have to tell you, they won't.

While you are on super nexus go into your APN settings and see Which APN is being used, then also write down all the fields that are filled in. Then the next time when you try another ROM make sure either the SAME APN setting is being used or that all the settings inside match what you had working. I have seen different ROMs have some different variations of apns. For instance I believe the old WAP.Cingular APN is default on CM10 but I usually change it for the a different APN setting. Basically what I am saying is even though you haven't touched it ever it COULD BE defaulting to a different APN. Hope you figure it out.

Apn it's for data only. It has nothing to do with sending and receiving text messages which uses the voice side of our service.
I personally think it is either at&t or something with Samsung's latest releases but searching online it has happened to other people in different forums so I'm leaning towards the network side.

I thought and I guess I am wrong here that for MMS to send/receive it has to do it over the data connection? If you have the data connection off and only on WiFi it won't send/receive? I know I have had to add a MMS APN for it to work for me in the past. I have 1 APN set just for ATT data, and one for MMS. This is usually how I set IP my apns over the past year or so:
My APN Test Settings
APN #1
NAME: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
MMS port: 80
APN TYPE: default,internet,broadband
APN#2
ATT MMS
APN: wap.cingular
USERNAME: [email protected]
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: wireless.cingular.com
MMS PORT: 80
MNC: 410
MCC: 310
APN TYPE: default,mms,supl
I could be wrong here but now I am intrigued. If I don't have the MMS APN I listed above and ONLY have one for data I will not receive MMS (cannot remember if I could receive regular text though). Correct me if I am wrong here but it is how I have always done it.

What happened is most likely your SMS number got messed up. This happened to me a while ago. Not sure how you get into the hidden settings in your rom. to check it but it should be
+1 312-314-9810. If this gets messed up the issue can fix it self after a few wipes and formats of the system partition. I would search on how to get into the service menu and make sure it is correct.

Yes that could also be the issue but recently that has not been the case. Putting the SIM in another phone them send and receive a message from that phone will trigger all the messages missed. Put the SIM back in the sgs2 after sms it should work fine again.

I got struck by this problem a week and a half ago. Then all of a sudden, all of my missing texts came through about 3 days later. Now, the problem has struck again. I haven't been able to receive a text since Saturday morning. As of Monday midday, I still am in a text blackout.
I went to the wiki posted in this thread and checked my service number. Everything looks AOK. I've been running ShoStock2 v5.4. On Sunday afternoon, I did a full wipe and installed ShoStock2 v6.0. I was hoping that a full wipe would fix this issue; but no luck.
I *think* that I might have an old AT&T phone somewhere that I can try and toss the SIM in to. Very frustrated.

Pour you SIM in another phone and send a text and receive one. Should see all your old ones come in after. After I did that then went to 6.0 and haven't had the issue yet again.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Hopefully the issue won't happen again. I put the phone on basic CM10 and no issues so far. It seemed to only affect ShoStock2 or the issue still exists but just hasn't recurred. The phone is what my girlfriend uses and she's not savvy enough to even know what any of the options do so she doesn't mess or change with most settings that could result in this. I'll check the other resources if it crops up again. And her SIM doesn't fit my GS3 to switch out. Thanks for posting the links and details gents.
Tonight at 7, with no changes, my phone received all of my messages from the last 3 days. We'll see if the issue is done.

It's got the straight talk apn settings. I've fiddled with it a bunch and nothing I know to do seems to work. Any ideas?

If you tried all APN type available for ST and still can't get data then you might have to call ST to refresh you network

Not a good idea to call ST. If you reach someone over there that has a brain, which I know is unlikely, they will soon determine you are not on the stock firmware and can terminate your service. They are not receptive at all to modifying their phones software.
This guys best bet is to ask about his issue in the S959G thread:

PORT: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: att2.tracfone.com

HOW DID THIS GET HERE?? I DIDNT POST THIS!!! NOT HERE ANYWAYS
Same problem. Only EVERYTHING but phonecalls works. I can make or receive calls but i cant hear voice from either end
edit:
Fixed by flashing 6.5 and then updating to 6.7
Update: Straight Talk's website now tells you the apn setting you should be using, to do this visit the link at the bottom of this post and follow the directions. The apn settings in this post should be the settings all new users are assigned, checking the link would tell you for sure though.
Just a heads up, if you're using Straight Talk's BYOP sim card and your data quit working, you may have been transitioned to new apn settings. I read about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310215 in the Nexus 4 forums.
It seems users there lost all mobile data connectivity after their service renewed. The new apn settings seemed to have restored their data connectivity. I suggest making a second apn setting on your phone with the new settings I've posted below. The reason why I suggest a second apn is so you can easily switch between apns if you lose data connectivity on the new apn, I see it as an easy troubleshooting step down the road.
Here is the new apn
Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
Straight Talk now let's you type in your phone number on their website to look up which apn settings you should be using, it can be found here
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn#.UwhwZHVdX8s
I hope somebody finds this useful and hopefully doesn't cause confusion.
Hmm, this could be very useful. Thank you.

I tried this too on my Google Nexus 4 because the results from my speedtests have been very poor [pic attached].
Unfortunately for me, the new APN settings are not working. In the mean time, I have placed a support ticket with Straight Talk to fix this issue.

Is that why it's listed under the ATT section of StraightTalk's www.straighttalksim.com website?

You can not get LTE without the hardware. The SGH-I777 and the SGH-S959G are not LTE capable.

I currently have I747 from att, and I'm unable to get LTE on straight talk network.
On stock rom I get 4g & customer rom HSPA+

Probably because you need the new LTE sim card from ST, which only recently came out; that is if your hardware supports it, as creepy stated.
And please be aware that this is the i777 forum.

I've had some issues with mms but nothing serious. Nothing a quick airplane mode toggle can't fix for me.

From what I've gathered, there are two different At&t apn settings for straight talk's byop sim card, either att.mvno or tfdata. I use to be on att.mvno for my apn, but when I changed to their lte sim card, my apn settings became tfdata.
I'm not sure cdma phones have programmable apn settings.

I have had problems sending mms on the i777 on non-stock based roms such as cm. I had better luck getting mms to go if I disconnected from wifi and waiting for the phone to establish a data connection before sending the mms. I never had much luck with toggling airplane mode on and off to get an mms to go. If it didn't go the first time, I'd just forward the mms I was trying to send to the same person that I was trying to originally send it to, normally the forwarded one went. I decided to forward it to them because it took less time than making a new mms message all over again. hope that helps.
In the mms proxy field put
66.209.11.33 Instead or try 66.209.11.34

That is not true, On New LTE card. I have a older SIm card I purchased 6 months ago. I get LTE with that card and never had to buy the new "LTE" Sim.

You may get faster speeds, but you're not getting true LTE, because our device simply doesn't have the necessary hardware.
But I'm glad you're getting better speed, I agree with trevor, please share your setup!

I am activating Straight Talk bringing my i777 S2 from ATT. They told me to use the same settings as you've listed above. How long did your activation take? I got them on the phone at 11am and it is now 8pm. I'm still waiting - Is that normal?
Thanks
Pete

Well it depends, are you porting your number or are you getting a new number from them? When I activated my straight talk sim card, I got a new number and was up in running in minutes, if not instantly.
I recently flashed to a rom (Supernexus 4.2.2) last week and just noticed pictures sent or received in text messages are not being completed. One picture eventually was sent but 6 days later. The rest still say "Sending...".
Any ideas on how to correct this? Perhaps it is an APN issue. How do I know if I have the correct AT&T APN settings? I can post what my phone is set at currently if that helps.
This is still an issue with and without wifi enabled.
Thanks

I think its the apn settings, whenever I've flashed a new rom on my phone, it changes all the apn settings and I have to configure it again. My current best settings are..
Name: ATT PHONE
APN: phone
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,mms,internet,hipri,admin,supl,fota
I noticed the hipri, admin, supl, fota helps speed up the internet. I went from 1.2 mbps download to 8.4 mbps.
The APN settings have already been addressed a thousand times. Please do a search. There is a sticky in the forum specially for that.
And as far as your issue is concerned, yes it certainly seems like to be an APN issue. So please do a search.
