CM9 Rom to install replacing Stock ICS - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi guys
I'm looking for a Deodex ICS CM9 Rom to use as daily and with the possibility of flash replacing the Stock Motorola ICS EU.
Just got the Razr Maxx and althought i have read a lot, i haven't understood exactly what's the reason why some ROMs just can be flashed using Safestrap or Bootmenu, instead a CWM Recovery.
Thanks in advance
(and sorry for my english) :silly:

For a daily use , I am using Eclipse 1.5 , I am happy with it ... There are a lot many roms out there you can read individual ROM threads to see if it suits your style of use. To instal safestrap/Eclipse you can see this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991253
Suggestion : Before you decide you recovery [CWM /Bootmenu/Safestrap] , first select the ROM you like then flash the recovery....
Developers build the instals based on recovery , they choose CWM/Safestrap .. few ROMS have patched versions to support the other ( ex: eclipse with bootmenu patch) ...

Have you unlocked your bootloader? I suspect not. This is what flashtools is referencing.
Custom roms and mods that work on stock kernels can be installed on rooted devices.
Some mods/roms make such significant changes to Sony's builds that a new kernel is required (MIUI, CM, AOKP). To install a custom kernel you need to unlock your bootloader.
You may read the instructions provided by the author of the rom., to flash kernels, you need to unlock your bootloader. Seek and you'll see.
Is that right? lol

Thanks friends
Thank you all. the problem was unlocking bootloader . after unlocked bootloader i have install the rom successfully. can anybody tell me which MIUI rom is much fast and smooth ?

Now you’ve flashed one ROM on the Ray I can’t see you stopping
It doesn’t matter what WE recommend because your experience of which is the best ROM may be different to ours.
Try them all – I usually change mine once a month. But in my humble opinion, the most cutting edge, fully featured, experimental yet suitable for daily use ROM is PAC. My little Ray runs smoother than my wife’s Galaxy S2 and has so much more swagger – to borrow from AOKP.
so you recommend PAC rom ? actullay i want to stay with my stock based smooth (ASOP) ROM. if you know something then pls recommend me

[Q] I just don't get this Moto Rom flashing....

Soo... first, i just couldnt understand how to upgrade to JB while being able to go back to ICS, only to find out how easy it was after i had already flashed the Fido firmware through RSD Lite, destroying any possibility of going back to ICS -_- anyways, i rooted it and flashed a stock JB Rom i was looking forward to flashing since i started to check out the Rom selection (it was the stock JB Brasil.en.BR) and as i flashed it, the phone wouldnt boot -___- it would stay stuck right before the boot animation with the red led on.... so i managed to flash back to the Fido firmware through RSD and rooted it again, then flashed cm10.1 and it actually went well! it flashed and booted like its supposed to!! but, then again, as perfect as it seems for aosp lovers, it just aint for me... so i tried to flash the stock JB Rom i originally had in mind from cm10.1, only to see it fail again and get stuck during boot before the boot animation... then i tried flashing another JB Rom (my first rom v0.91 i believe its called) and the same happened... btw, i was wiping data, cache and dalvik cache in between each Rom flash... so, i just gave up and restored my backup of the Fido firmware that i had made before i started attempting all the flashing... for all this i used BMM v3.4 and my Razr model is XT910 LATAM... anyways, im just hoping for someone out there to illuminate me and help me understand how exactly is an individual supposed to flash a rom to an XT910?? thanks in advanced!
since you upgraded to JB, you cannot flash ics roms due to raised level of security
you can flash latam jb based roms (see artur's) and any kexec based rom
maybe you can also flash eu jb roms, but I'm not sure. You can try
To do that enter recovery (BMM, safestrap cannot flash kernels), make a backup of your kernel and CID, erase CID, Wipe all, flash eu jb kernel, flash rom, reboot
if you did remain on ICS you could flash anything you Want, but it's too late

so, if i got this right, i can flash a rom from any region as long as i first flash a jb kernel of the rom's region (eg. flash an .FR jb kernel to use an .FR based rom)? if so, that pretty much leaves me wondering where i can get these kernels, and with the task to backup my stock kernel and cid... thans for ur response!
all eu jb kernels are the same and it is possible that latam and eu to be compatible

With jb eu kernel you can flash eu jb based roms, of course, not any rom
also you can flash any kexec rom, it does not matter Which kernel you have
try to flash eu jb kernel and if succeeded flash one of roms from dev section based on this kernel
if you cannot, install artur's rom based on latam jb rom

ah ok, im pretty much clear now.. sorry for asking much, ive never had this regional restrictions on any other phone ive had.. ill go ahead and search for one of these eu kernels and see how it all goes with flashing! once again, i first flash the kernel and right after i flash the rom, right? without rebooting recovery? and also, if im using bmm, do i flash the kernel like a regular zip or using the flash kernel menu that everyone always says not to use?
first, make a backup of your kernel, then flash eu kernel, then wipe all, flash rom and reboot
make a backup of CID then erase it (not sure that is necessary for your region, but just in case)
kernels should be flashed using command flash firmware. Make sure that there is NO SPACE into the path of desired kernel like:
firmware/EU_JBKernel/boot.img any punctuation is accepted, but no space!
kexec should be flashed as regular zip
all of this is valid using BMM
for other info check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155576
tutorial of how to BMM is on the way on this thread. keep an eye on it!

Well, that thread contains kernels for eu, latam and verizon.
For DSEA you need first. Flash eu kernel and rom, order is not important.
There are a few roms based on latam, see them
For verizon check this:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-droid-razr-roms/
For them you need a gsm patch, read threads for it
Gsm patch must be flashed after the rom

xperia mini pro almost bricked because of a custom rom

Hello guys, please forgive me if any of this has caused the slightest troubles to you
So,
i just rooted my phone a day ago and installed clockwork mod too...
i am a total newbie and don't know anything about this.... So i went searching for some custom mods for my sk17i or Xperia mini pro...
And i found one on this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102979
So then i installed it from the instructions given on most of the websites... i had a kernel of 4.1.b.0.587 on the phone and i don't even know much about flashtool...
Now the rom is installed or whatever it is but the UI has completely changed and it's not like the pics on the site... It's just completely black... And the worse part is that i can't even access my settings menu on the phone... So now i am blocked from doing anything... i cant even start usb debugging and take off the root....
please tell me some roms for the phone or any other way this can be undone...
Oh and btw i also tried installing some roms from http://get.cm/?device=mango because i thought cyanogen is pretty famous...
But none of them gets installed... and i even tried placing them as updates but no luck :crying::crying:
please help... thank you so much

Hmmm...if i understand your problem correctly, you ROOT and install CWM on you Mango, then you flash custom mods...problem appears after flashing custom mods right????
Hmmm....okey, for you info, those custom mods are for CM10 Roms ONLY and i believe you haven't flash CM10 Roms FIRST before you flash those mods...you can't use those mods on STOCK ROM (GB and ICS)...its designed for JB rom only....No wonder your phone got black screen...you trying to flash some mods that isn't COMPATIBLE with your roms...you need to flash STOCK Roms back if you want to fixed your problem...
for you second question...did your phone BOOTLOADER is Unlock??? if is not then sorry you can't CM Roms without unlocking the Bootloader first....CM Roms mush use CUSTOM KERNEL not STOCK KERNEL and after Unlocking you Bootloader then you can flash CUSTOM KERNEL and CM Roms...

As far as I know, the kernel should be in the rom.zip (it's the boot.img). Extract it and flash it using flashtool or the fastboot tools
Otherwise search for a kernel for android 4.2.2 in Dev section and flash that one. Should work too
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2
One thing to remember is, before flashing a custom ROM or MOD, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP.
To be on the safer side, backup every week or so and keep the last two or three backups.

Your phone got almost bricked,No it didnt, First thing before installing a custom ROM clear your system, data, cache partition..did you do that?
ok so you have CWM installed..follow this exactly
Start CWM by pressing vol down when your phone starts up,Select Mount USB Storage under mounts and storage, connect phone to pc,transfer ROM zip file to sdcard then
format /system ,/data,/cache ,now select install zip from sdcard and select your ROM zip file from sdcard
Reboot System..
You should be clear now..
Hope i helped..
Regards..
PS :Certain CM ROMS can be highly unstable so i recommend checking out the bugs and everything before you flash a CM rom..otherwise ICS is always smooth and stable..and have got a lot a lot of mdpi roms on xda..thanks to devs..
EDIT: if u r on a stock kernel, then unlock your bootloader by following steps at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com then flash a custom kernel that supports JB..look over at the index thread created by predator at the dev section..
then follow my steps above..
DO NOT FLASH CUSTOM JB ROM ON STOCK ICS KERNEL.IT WONT WORK.

Updating/switching roms (CM)

Hi, I have updated and rooted my phone a while ago so I have forgotten a few things... I have CyanogenMod 9.1.0 and android version is 4.0.4... And now I came here and saw that there is android 4.2 and CM 10.1.... But I didn't found any information for updating between those two, there is only for coming from stock firmware. Can I just download 10.1 and install it from Clockwork mod or should I first update to 4.2 and how to do it?
Wipe data/factory reset after flashing the kernel for the new version and install the rom in cwm. All your data will be lost, but your phone should boot
Btw please ask questions in the Q&A forum

Yes it's the same for all custom roms. Flash the kernel, boot in cwm and do the wipes, then flash the rom

this is the manual way (automatic is SEUS ).. but to ur question yes, it so:
before installing rom, check which kernel needed for this (or if its inside zip, to flash BEFORE install; via fastboot..)
if u switch between stock ics & cm builds OR between cm9 and cm10(.1) FULL WIPE IS recommended!!
if u do only a upgrade like install newest version of smae rom on ur phone u can WIPE NOTHING! (only if u get problem )
yes 1st kernel (recovery (CWM) built in) then ROM ; maybe some addons/gapps (google apps), dun
peace

There is a big thread written by Hrshi who made a bunch of tutorials for BMM, etc. For SS you can read on HAshcode's blog "How to Safestrap"

Honestly i would stay on ICS.Reason because ics roms are more stable and you can over and underclock ICS with motomizor on google play. With jellybean this is not possible atm.As far as kecex 4.2.2+ roms go, you don't need to upgrade to jellybean to beable to use any kecex rom.Once you upgrade to jellybean you cannot downgrade back to ICS.So think hard before you decide what you want to do.
If your looking to just upgrade your stock firmware and don't care about the other stuff i mentioned, then by all means go for it.
