It seems to me that this xperia s forum is just full of Sony Ericsson fanboys who don't want to talk about any other devices as though shielding themselves from reality.
Why close the threads, if the topic doesn't interest you, then move on and let others if they want to, discuss whatever they want.
Coming from an x10 forum, this never happened. We discussed everything even if it led to wars.

Aren't the mods the ones that close the threads? Isn't it up to their discretion what threads can stay open and which ones are closed? I honestly dont mind diversity but its not like the users are closing the threads.. or are they? I genuinely don't know so don't shoot me down zodiac

I wold like to know what are the differences between SXS and any other phone in order to build my own opinion should I got it or not. I am not a person who is paying some money due to a brand loyalty! So I would like to know what I am paying for (though I already got it, it is a principle question).
I agree that most of the Sony forums are full with people loyal to the brand which is ok (somehow). However, the forums are place where people search and find answers, therefore an answer "it is better cus it's a Sony" or "it is better cus I have it" are not good enough for someone (me for example).
It is good to see a realistic pros and cons for this phone. Of-course there always be fanboys which will disagree with any critic about their new toys, I just hope that they will move on as someone suggest earlier, so people who are interested what is the reality, being able to help each other.

Check the S3 threads that have been closed. You see repeatedly folks who contribute nothing else but requests for the thread to be closed.

Hmm, I'd agree with everything everyone has said.. the only other feedback I'd say was in regards to an issues thread you closed. Yes, there are still too many ics threads(it was older than the "everything ics thread"), but overtime hopefully some will be useful. The everything ics thread will eventually become too hard to search, so threads that serve specific purposes rather than be grouped up in an "everything" thread will potentially help keep things organized..
You've been incredibly patient, and you inherited a forum that has a sorta ugly past.. but you've done pretty much more than I could have expected. Keep up the good work, I'm glad we have you.

Good direction comes from posting in the correct section. Questions should be posted in the q&a section, not here.
Oh, and just so you know, these kind of questions will get flamed every time, even in the right section. ROMs are preference oriented. You're always gonna get different responses. My suggestion, take 3-4 hours on a boring rainy day and flash everything. There isn't a whole lot available atm anyway.

If it seems that way, it's because of years and years of senior members telling folks to read the rules and understand the forums. Some just don't have as much patience as others. Golden rule, search and read before posting. Google is your friend.

Like the above poster said, nothing beats experience in helping make a decision. Just like you wouldn't buy a car based solely on what someone said in a forum without a test drive, choosing a ROM is similar. These forums have a ton of great information, and some very knowledgeable people who are generally happy to help. I would read through the ROM threads and look at the feature set that is important to you and then start playing with them in the wild. Right now the only fully developed ROMs for Verizon are Beans and CleanROM which after using both for a few days aren't massively different in terms of core functionality. There are a number of others in development but whatever you choose there will always be a bit of a trade off in features so it will come down to what is key to you. Good luck in your search.
