data with voice over IP
still voice
you didnt read it either

No mention of LTE. Using Dish Network.....as in satellites? So when its stormy, we will have choppy signals?
Still good to use VoIP. Theoretically make calls on WiFi if they enable it on phone.
Can you hear me now?

Dish is building a terra LTE network.

Also everything in the future will be VOIP... Soon as the LTE infrastructure is in place by the carriers LTE will also be the way we make our calls.

Can u say anti-trust lawsuit?

This sounds awesome!

Sounds good only if google voice can get sending/receiving mms to work properly

They will probably have mms working. There's no reason they'd make a network that can't support picture mail.

Forget MMS, how about making Google Voice even remotely reliable. I'd say there's about a 50/50 chance on whether a phone call actually rings my phone or not. This has been a problem for YEARS.

Weird. I use Google voice and have zero issues with calls or MMS.

I think your issue is due to data speeds more than anything. Google Voice is a very reliable service, when in service.

[Q] WiFi Calling/ texting

i have bad service where im at and it takes hours for me to get text. on my sensation when i was on T-mo i could do it over wifi. any help?
Google voice can do texting over wifi and calling but I don't know how the calling part works but for texting it will do what you want over WiFi.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I would also love to know if there's any way to text/voice call over wifi, since I never get signal at a certain place. I have to walk around the building like an idiot looking for signal.
However, I'm with Rogers in Canada, and Google Voice doesn't work here. Any ideas?
There may be something else that can do that through some tweaks. I'm not sure what tho... Google for some "alternatives to Google voice"
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
you could you use textfree for text I believe it works with wifi...
You'll have to do this:

Works for the 3d too. You'll lose mms though.

I've heard from a people on Sprintusers that GV now supports MMS.
I've used and tried GrooveIP with some success, but the call quality has been very inconsistent, even within the same call. I haven't tried since it was updated, so perhaps it's gotten better. You might want to give it a try and see how it works for you.

HTC Amaze without Data?

I have a question about the data...I can't really afford to get a data plan for 2 years even though I am available for an upgrade at this moment. I will talk to my mom about it too, but the main question is ; say I bought a used Amaze 4g, will it still function right without the 3g/4g? I heard somewhere some phones wont even boot without data or something like that...if thats false dont laugh at me :| but yeah, could someone please answer this question for me? My HTC HD2 is starting to get on the bad side now :\ Thank you.
it will work fine without data, heck you will get amazing battery life as 3g/4g uses alot more power. You wont recieve weather updates and some widgets wont function properly, but as a phone and a media device it will work flawlessly! enjoy your amaze

A second thought, which is what I'm about to do. Leave the contract and go for the $30 a month monthly4g plan. 5gbs of 4G, unlimited text and 100 minutes. If you run out of minutes use a voip app like Google voice and grooveip.

Buying a used phone is no problem. T-Mobile won't sell you a new phone without a data plan.

Voice and Data at the same time?

Okay, so I just noticed that I can be on a call and I can still use data (3G). I gotta say I'm confused because this is the first phone that have been able to do this.
Does anybody else have a similar experience?
Well if you're in a 4G area, you should be able to do voice/data. Now if you have 3G it shuts off during a call, cause it's using that connection for the call.
ICS Rezound.

The Thunderbolt and Rezound can do both on 3G also. It's a unique feature to those phones.
Yeah our phone can use 4g for data and 3g for call's simultaneously.
or vice versa
Hell ya. I knew 4g would work when on voice call, but when I saw 3g working as well, damn near **** my pants. I thought only att could do that since it is a real talk text surf on one connection. One more reason to steer clear of att now.
Sent from my ICS Rezound via Tapatalk 2.
Doh! My post got devoured somehow.
I remember now that Anantech.com did a review of the Thunderbolt and explained how the basebands allowed for 3G and voice or 4G and voice simultaneously.
I wonder if the basebands changed from the Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, Anandtech didn't review the Rezound, they seem to have the most in-depth reviews.
But yeah, freakin' sweet! The AT&T One X does have me in awe of its display, but its certainly not enough to get me to jump to AT&T.
I gotta say I feel like the Rezound is sweetest phone on Verizon.
I never really needed to use the SVDO capabilities. Probably because I'm almost never on the phone lol... But still.

If one of my very talkative friends calls while I'm playing a game I just keep on playing while I talk either on speaker or with my bluetooth.
This is the best feature of the phone. I loved it on my bolt/

Simultaneous call & 3G FINALLY

Wow simultaneous 3G data & calls actually work at the same time. I read rumors of this but heard towers needed upgrading for it to work. Didn't think it was actually gonna work but it works perfect also getting much better 3G speed.
Is this in all areas or just certain ones? I wasn't sure if the towers actually needed upgrades or it was phone limitation.
works excellent for me from Norwalk, CA all the way through Rancho Cucamonga.
Mine doesn't. Is there a setting or something?

I don't think there is a setting, that's why I posted I wanted to see if it was area specific or not. I just remember reading a rumor about it a while ago but thought it said it would depend on the towers. I'm in Minneapolis area.

Voice mail issues on the G3?

Verizon's visual voice mail is giving me lots of problems on the G3. Well actually the same problems after the kitkat update on the G2 too. 50% of the time I get a no data connection error and have to refresh. That or turn off wifi for a while which seems to handle it better. It's a real nuisance. Anyone else see anything like this? I'm thinking it's a combination of Kitkat and Verizon.
Yes. It's horrible. Same on Droid Maxx.
My solution is perfect. Use youmail visual voicemail. And use the app better youmail. It avoids the annoying contact sync that youmail uses. And you can change every setting and then some.
The only feature that doesn't work is, if you integrate the voicemail in your call log, it will show up but you can't hit play. But if you have a notification of a missed voicemail it will play from there just fine.
Highly recommend. Worth the cost.

They also don't say how much it is on the play site. Is it a monthly service or one time charge?
One time charge for the app. 4.99 I think. It's worth it. No annoying contact sync that youmail app has.

The voice mail notifications seem to clear and not return whereas on my s3 cleared voice mail notifications would come back.
To me it is the worst thing about the phone. It's almost unusable. How can it be so hard to manage voice mail? This is the kind of stuff that makes me re-think iphones as an option. . . . nah.. not yet.
Seriously, it is a hand off issue I think. This should just silently fail until it gets a good enough signal. It's just amazingly annoying otherwise.
If I put in my T-Mobile sim and install their visual voicemail, it works great. Same with Cricket.

Google Voice.
By the way, I tried that Youtalk app and it was the worst piece of S I have ever tried to use. It didn't work at all. I'll just suffer through the missed data connections of the Verizon app.
Why not use Google voice?

It's a work phone and I don't want to use Google voice. I want Verizon voicemail to work correctly. If it can't work on wifi, then it should ignore wifi. It doesn't. verizon needs to fix this to work better.

I mean we are on an android OS... The beauty of android is that if your voicemail app isn't working you have tons of options in the play store for visual voicemail. I would recommend YouMail..best visual voicemail out there IMO..

Amen to youmail! Love using it with better youmail app to avoid annoying contact sync and gain extra features. Disappointed that vm call log integration doesn't work well though.
