Hi,
I'm having a frustrating problem and I hope my Streak is not broken:
I got a new Streak today and updated it to 2.2.2. I had to download the update file manually with my PC because the wifi connection randomly disconnected.
I easily managed to set up wifi (I just had to enter the SSID and it worked) but the connection is very unstable. At best I can download 10 mb before it disconnects. While browsing it disconnects after seconds. I can't open larger sites like bbc.com.
I can see the WiFi symbol on the taskbar dissappear every ~3 seconds.
Other devices such as my laptop have no issues connecting to my wifi.
thx
It seems to work now (*puh*). However I don't know why.
I did a factory reset, a router reset and installed wifi analyzer.
Would be glad if some explained to me what the issues might have been here.
Hi guys i was wondering if any of you are having a problem with the Wifi , my s3 connects to the internet after 10 seconds it disconnects then reconnects then disconnects ...... etc etc never a stable connection! is there a simple fix or shall i send it back and get it replaced?
I had that problem at first but I got around it by doing this.
Forget the wireless router on your phone so it doesn't connect. Unplug the router and leave for at least 10 seconds without power then plug it back in and let it stabilize its internet connection.
Restart your phone and connect like you normally do.
It worked for me I had a problem with the virgin media router.
Good luck hope it works

I'm having an odd wifi issue.
So far I've only seen it happen at home with my billion router.
The S3 connects to the wifi fine, but maybe after 30min it seems it losing packets. The internet is really slow on the phone but fine on everything else. Web pages don't load and other apps struggle because of the lack of internet but its still connected with full wifi strength. I disconnect the wifi and reconnect and everything is fine again.
Woke up this morning and the same thing happened, so I had to reset the wifi on the phone.
I've tried channel wifi channels.
I'm using WPA2
Any suggestions?
is anyone having a problem with the wifi after updating to jellybean for s3?
inital connection to WIFI works but after a certain period of time, the wifi stopped working and i need to restart the wifi again for internet to load. IT happens all the time now after leaving my phone with WIFI on.
Constant restarting WIFI to get connection does not happen in ICS..

No such problem for me with JB LJ5 stock or custom!!!
Might be your modem-router....
This happens to me too. It's fine for me at work, but when I'm at home the wifi fails to connect after some time. Are you using dd-wrt at home? I am and I'm wondering if that's the issue.

I find that having my wifi set to always on in advanced I get better wifi and slow drain, having it on wifi off while asleep makes your wifi keep disconnecting and reconnecting. Best way is to switch wifi off when you don't need it.
Also some battery saving apps I've found to stop wifi and need to keep reconnecting, this has to be changed in the settings
wi fi dropped

Hi, Mine is Galaxy Note 2 i317 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I did have similar issue. I took two smart phones to Target, one is ICS 4.0.3 and the Note 2 is 4.1.1.
The 4.0.3 never has any issues with wi fi connection. But the Note 2 keeps on dropping the connection. I ran an application wifi analyzer to check the available networks. It turns out that Target has so many routers that are using the same ssid, i.e. "Target Guest Wi-Fi". There are channel 1, 6, 11, etc, as well as many 5Gs. I did an alias for every available connection. Then I pick one of the stronger signal strength 5G and connected to it.
After that no connection was dropped.
The point is that you should try to connect to the strongest signal SSID so that the Note 2 won't keep on dropping the weak connection.
I have no idea why the ICS 4.0.3 can handle better than the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean as far as wifi is concerned.

Same problem!

I'm experiencing the same problem since updating to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on my HTC ONE X. So it seems to be an Android issue, not specific to Samsung or HTC.
I connect to my home network over WIFI, everything works fine until after a little while my apps seem unable to connect to any data/internet. They just time out or come up with error messages about connection problems.
Sure enough, if I disconnect and reconnect to WIFI, everything starts working again... for a little while.
It's like the WIFI goes to sleep, but forgets to wake-up again.
And there is no indication on the phone, ie. it still shows as connected.

I echo that? It's 3 months later... has anyone figure anything out in regards to this issue?
Mine shipped with JB already. Sometimes, when reboot, it doesn't connect to my WIFI network, unless i disable WIGI connection and re-enable it...

my WiFi suddenly started having an issue where the WiFi will connect for a few seconds then disconnects saying its searching for connections, it started out of nowhere and I'm running the "[STOCK][D6503] Pre-rooted/stock 23.1.A.1.28 NCB [LATEST FW][UPDATED][May 4th 2015]" firmware.
Try to reboot both your router and your phone.
