Good Morning,
I have searched around these forums as well as other websites and have not had much luck with a root kit being available.
Phone Info:
Samsung Galaxy SIII Progre
Model: SCL21
Droid Version: 4.0.4
Build Number: IMM76D.SCL21KDALJD
Carrier: Au/KDDI
I have found one other thread about this on these forums, but not much help in that thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34252830
I was wondering if there might be a forum/development for this model of S3. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Has that model the same specs as the SC-06D from docomo? If yes, try that rooting method.
Edit:
Just checked it! Should be the same phone. all specs are the same.
So try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895737
It should work.
But if not, dont blame me!
Cheers

Hey, important information. Don't try to use a manual intended for docomo phone (Galaxy S III SD-06). I tried it and now my phone is bricked.
If you explore any rooting method, please send me an email ....
Oh. Okay. Thanks for the info! I thought it would work because the phones are identical!!!!
Send from my C64 using load " Tapatalk ", 8,1 and run!
Me too.

I'm having the same issue. with the AU SCL21. I did find that you can flash with the team epic CWM recovery method. or the Mskip toolkit method.
(i would have provide links. but I have to adhere to the policy here). feel free to msg me.
Once I flash, however it won't boot into recovery. the SGSIII logo appears upside down, and just hangs. Sometimes, it will boot into normal mode after it hangs a bit. but it's never booted into recovery. I've flashed 23 times now, and used several good micro usb cables. If anybody could help with this, Man i'd be so happy.
Messaging App missing?
Would you happen to know where the native android messaging application is on this device? I'm running 4.0.4 on the SLC21 and I ONLY have the AU SMS service (which makes me want to die a little inside). I've tried using secondary messaging services but they all work off of the database from the native android "Messaging" app. My phone does not have that application apparently and I can't seem to find it anywhere. My Kanji is non-existent so if they hid it somewhere and are calling it something else I can't find it. Any ideas? I want my SMS's to migrate to a different messaging service because I'm texting US numbers as well through TextPlus.

Dunno if you ever found a solution to this, but in case you haven't then it's your lucky day. Not however that neither of these lets to text US numbers for free.
You can't "migrate" your SMS to a different service, but you can access them with a different app. I found out today that if you are a Facebook user then Facebook Messenger works for both FB Chat and SMS. Download the program, login, then getting into the apps settings and turn on SMS texting. It will capture your texts and thread them into a conversation.
If you happen to not use Facebook for whatever reason, then Go SMS Pro also does a fine job. Whichever method you choose, make sure to disable the AU SMS in the Application Management section of the phones settings so that you don't get dual notifications. Hope that helps.
Are you able to do the unlocking

I am not sure if you have found a way to root your phone or not, but I just recently got to Japan and got the exact same phone. I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DouktjBrS5w on youtube on how to root it. I used that method, it took a couple of tries, because it was my first root, but it works. I hope this helps

That's the model number in the about phone screen? What about on the label under the battery?
EDIT: I see, after a quick google search, it is yet another variant. Most common in Japan, where you are. I was unable to find out what SoC/chipset this phone uses, so do NOT use just any Galaxy S2 root method randomly. Especially don't use any from this forum for the I9100. Chances are very good that will brick your phone. Sorry I don't have any better answers for you.
Here is the chip set on it I got from quadrant score....sooooo out looks like we can't do anything with this phone begging to be unleashed?....the info is in the pic below
Sent from my ISW11SC using XDA
Here is the quadrant score...now if I could get it rooted!.....

You could try zergRush. It reportedly doesn't work on 2.3.6 or higher, but you could try it.
Is that supported for Mac though?
Sent from my ISW11SC using XDA
I don't know. I've never used it. Look it up.
rooted.
I have had this phone for about a month. Just to say that I rooted it the day i got it.
I just used an old microSD card and rooted from this link. (The link to the .zp file is gone, but i found another way - see second link. Should also work fine)

http://blog.livedoor.jp/kz_gin/archives/cat_136988.html
Anyway, its great because I managed to get rid of a lot of AU bloatware. Now trying to figure out how to replace the horrible AU mail programs (SMS/MMS - they both suck so badly) with GO SMS PRO. No idea what the MMS settings for KDDI are though. SMS works fine through GO SMS PRO.
What I would ultimately like to do is to flash this with a better optimized rom. i feel there is so much potential for this phone, but AU (like most other carriers) has filled it with junk....
sooooo...if google translate is correct ( when is ever) I'm suppose to download the recovery.zip to sd card...install it...reboot...then install the root.zip from sd card and reboot and that should give me root for this phone?? any chance of me bricking it????
screw it ill give it a try...lol....balls to the ways...by the way i'm looking into the APN/MMS settings for KDDI...you know your AU address...
THis worked outstanding...except it wouldn't read the sd card when i tried the root.zip install....but all i did was used file manager...copied it to the internal sd...reboot into recovery and installed the root.zip....i shall make a new thread with this information from you....i know there are more of the SGS2 Wimax users....let the root madness begin...
EDIT: I put together a small guide on How To Root SG2 Wimax here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576000 ...let me know if you guys have any questions and I'll try to answer them the best I can....
I've had this inexpensive phone for about a month now, and the only reason I'd want root access is to install Titanium Backup or a firewall to freeze/block access to a certain Chinese Android Market app. The app in question sends out a notification to feature new Chinese apps everytime the phone is given internet access and there are no options to disable it within the app itself. And since it came with the phone, it cannot be uninstalled, and of course, it restarts immediately if stopped.
One-clicks do not work-- they all result in directory/permission errors. For example, superoneclick will hang on step 7 and doomlord's method would reboot the phone without making any changes.
It would seem my only resort would be to use a different ROM, but there are no ROMs for this phone. Of course there are methods using similar MTK 6573 phones which are usually just clones in different casings, but I've read that using non-specific ROMs will result in a brick as there are slight differences.
So how should I go about rooting this phone? What are the risks of using a non-specific ROM? Should I give up?
Model Number: e1109_v73_jxlc1
Android Version: 2.3.6
Basband version: MAUI.11AMD.W11.36.SP.V17.F1, 2012/03/14 16:54
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7
Build Number: ALPS.GB.FDD2.MP.V4.5
Custom Build Version: 1332391723
Maybe it isn't possible ;/
After pushing my Googling abilities to their upper limits, I finally found out how to root this phone. It turns out there was a Russian community that archives lots of information on Chinese phones (china-iphone.ru). I can't believe I managed to follow 35 pages of hints via Google Translate. It also turns out that the only way to root this phone is by flashing a recovery image, not by one-clicks. I was able to find a recovery image specific to this phone (STAR I9100) and everything worked out.
I was about to submit a guide on how I went about rooting it, but I can't share links. Oh well. I'm just glad I'll be able to finally be able to do something about the Chinese bloatware.

"doomlord's method would reboot the phone without making any changes."
just a tip: I experienced the same problem when i tried to root my i9001. The problem was, there were not the necessary files on my HDD after I extracted the doomlord's packet. I totally forgot about my virus protection, and because I blocked the notification from that program, the virus scanner automatically deleted the earlier mentioned files. That's why my phone was rebooted several times without making any changes using SuperOneClick and Doomlord too.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't use any real-time anti-virus because I browse the web and run untrusted programs in a sandboxed environment (and of course the one-clicks were ran outside of the sandbox). And I'm not sure which brand your phone is (or if it's even a China phone), but I know that some 2.3.6 China phones could be rooted using one-clicks and some of the same China phones have had 2.3.4 installed which can be rooted easily. It's just that the latest Chinese-branded STAR i9100 (at the time) came with 2.3.6 and could not make use of the one-clicks.

It's probably different then. Even though they are clones based from the same phone, they are slightly different when it comes to the hardware positioning and features. For example, 9mm earphone jacks can be seen in different places and screen size varies between 4.1-4.3" even though they are based off the sgs2. There are even some with and without GPSs.
For those of you with different brands like the HDC or GT i9100, try browsing the china-phone.ru MTK65x3 forums. You might be in luck if it turns out there's a thread dedicated towards your specific model. I'd try to be more specific, but I can't post links due to insufficient forum privileges.

Hey man, was wondering if you have any idea about adding new languages or even another rom on this phone. "Stock" rom is horrible, and if there is a way to add a simple basic google stock rom on it, with no extra apps and with a slim launcher it would make this phone a bit faster.
Have to say, good screen tho.

I bought the Samsung SM-E7000, the Chinese version of the Indian A7000. Good specs but the Chinese software is making it almost useless for me. I stumbled across this page http://androidxda.com/root-samsung-galaxy-e7-sm-e7000 and a few more similar with the same methods and gave it a go but ran into 2 immediate problems.
1. When I connected the phone Oden did not display any message
2. It didn't work at all when I hit start
The build number listed for the root process is "KTU84P.E7000ZSU1A0B1" but my phone lists the build as "KTU84P.E7000ZCU1A0C1" so some minor differences there.
I've Googled around but not found much in the way of help with this, I believe I have to flash it? Any help would be so appreciated.
Hi there,
I haven't seen any files for rooting a Softbank Galaxy S6 Edge. Is there anything out there?
Softbank is one of the top four or five cellphone carriers in Japan.
From the android "about" screen:
model number 404sc
android version 5.0.2
baseband 404scscu1aof2
kernelversion 3.10.61-5183936
build number lrx22g.404scscu1aof2
From rebooting into the bootloader
product name sm-g925z
I've seen there are other (I suppose American/UK carrier) sm-g925_ files available for cf auto root, but apparently not the z model specifically.
As far as I'm aware I can't use a non-z file for my z-model phone without risking bricking the phone.
Is there anyone currently working on this? Is there anything I can do / check to use another file or to assist development on this z model?
Many thanks
Ben

hai, still can't root s6 edge softbank (404sc) ? maybe this will help you to rooting. Just try with twrp recovery. And use twrp 2.8.6.0 (chinese - zeroltezt).

Thanks for the responce so you use Japan softbank phone in indonesia? Is the LTE BANDS the same as Japan LTE? I looked at the website you suggested but was difficult to follow tell your procedure if you can again. If your rooted I don't think you can get OTA now. On a different subject have you found a way to unlock your boooader?
Did you also try flashing the Hong Kong 9250 stock rom for the 404sc?
dikmutun's advice works, thanks!
Update from original poster. Problem solved. I used dikmutun's exact advice below for downloading Odin and the Chinese TWRP tar file.
I got root with no problems.
After a bit more playing around with root apps, I can now tether my cellphone data to wifi hotspot, edit my APN, backup my apps with titanium backup.
Thanks!

questions/feedback please
hey guys,
Glad to see some Softbank's GS6 Edge users here.
I am thinking also of getting this phone from Softbank this coming Nov. 2015.
But I am still thinking about it since I am reading a lot of users having some problems with it especially Battery life, RAM management and Lags.
Since you already have the GS6 Edge, how was it?
Are you encountering those problems or issues?
Would you please give some feedbacks based on your actual usage?
Thanks a lot in advance.

The main issue is battery life if your a medium to heavy user be prepared to have a portable charger by mid day. If your a light user you should be able to not charge until later on the evening. Great phone just the battery life could be better. On a side note if you decide to get it get the gold color looks sweet. Never get tired at look in at my phone!

Hi Primod808,
Thanks for the feedback.
If battery is the only main problem, i think i can deal with it since i am always carrying a powerbank.
My great concern is the lag or sluggishness.
Are you encountering it? Is it tolerable?
I still have some more questions if you don't mind.
What was your phone before the GS6?
How long you've been using your GS6?
Have you successfully rooted it?
If yes, is it possible to remove all Softbank's unnecessary Apps?
I am very sorry for so many questions.
By the way, yes, just in case i'll be getting the GS6, i am planning to get the gold platinum color also.
Thank you in advance.
I have a 404sc model JP Galaxy s6.
I used this method to get root access.
I can detect no problems at all.
I do not use the standard touchwiz **** UI.
I use ADW-EX launcher. by far the best Ive seen

Which method did you use and?
And I didn't find 404sc model in cf auto root page. For which model you download the software and got success?
Please post in detail..

Someone please post a specific link of cf auto root file for Samsung Galaxy s6 edge ((404sc))Softbank Japan.
I'm not able to root yet.
I need assistance with rooting my first device and unfortunately the data on it is very valuable and I cannot lose it. I need to be able to retrieve the deleted sms messages from it using a program afterwards. I work in IT but rarely ever touch smartphones there. A coworker suggested using the program Odin to root the phone but that same coworker also said that it is impossible to retrieve deleted sms from a phone and it wouldn't work even if I used a program such as EaseUs, Dr. Fone, or WonderShare. He repairs iphones on the side and is an iphone user and has little experience with Android so I am hesitant to take his advice. Especially since he is never interested in keeping the data on the phones he buys, repairs, and resales. Does anyone recommend that program for rooting an android? Will it be best in my situation to still retrieve my deleted sms messages with a separate program after? Any other suggested programs with supporting documentation?
I am looking for guidance on which software is best in my scenerio and a walk through would be great as well. The sms I need are of great importance and not just "convos I'd like to keep cause im changing phones." Any help would mean the world. Thanks!

Thank you for the response. Greatly appreciated.
Galaxys rooter final apk...what is the file that you posted a link to? I see the file name on your Google Drive but do you have any supporting information for it?
If I cant put something together by Wednesday then I'll most likely purchase the OneClickRoot + recovery program for $80. I'd rather root it myself though. When you get a chance, let me me know about the file that you sent a link to. Thanks!
