I have a question... is there a switecher or something between 2g, 3g, 4g etc? I mean is there possibility to turn on only 2g mode to less battery consumption or sth like that?

there is an unofficial way.
Dial ##3282# and it will open up a field test mode. Click on the three dots at the bottom and then go to settings. You can then set your Network type to what you prefer from automatic. To make it stick, turn Toggle ENS (reboot required) to Off. Back out of Field Test and then turn off/turn on your phone.
PROTIP: Add ##3282# as a contact and pin it to the screen for easy access.
I thought that it's little easier, i mean without phone restarts etc, but ok, thanks for advice.

Supposedly the carriers required that the switch be removed.

Under Settings->Cellular, there is an option to set "Highest Connection Speed". Options are LTE, 3G and 2G. Would that not work for you?

I can't check this because i dont have this phone right now. Im going to buy it but i read that battery consumption is quite big so i decided to ask you about network switcher, because it can save a lot of energy

How can I disable 3G and only use EDGE for Internet Connections?
Maybe it safes some battery as mine sucks like hell... even more than my (old) iPhone4 which I try to replace but I am not yet convinced by this phone and OS yet...
I havent found it too ..
on android phones its in main settings, wireless and networks, then hit the use 2g only checkbox.
Go to Settings/Wireless Network/Mobile Network/Network Mode/ Select GSM ONLY.
That will get you 2g data. Hit the thanks button if it helps.

I found this setting but thought this would disable all internet connection...
I m using H+ with my cell company, no 3G. But i set the network for CDMA , still switch , how to stop it? thanks
Goto Settings > wireless and networks > Mobile networks > Network mode and select the appropriate one.....
hit thanks if it helps u....
I understand your problem...This will happen automatically...
The network will switch to H/H+ when you need connectivity and when in idle it will go back to 3G..This is done to save battery and processor speed i guess...
You can always see that when data transfer is needed, the connection switches itself...However from my experience this will create a slight delay always....
I don't know more in detail...like whether this is an android feature or depends on the carrier.. or whether we can disable autoswitching between H and 3G...What I know is this happens for most of us...
Experts pls correct me if you feel to.

Even if it is possible to stick with H all the time, I believe it will have a considerable impact on battery life...
My personal opinion is that your battery life will be cut by half at least... So not worth it...

It'd be nice if we could just adjust the delay of the automatic switch to 3G.
Something like 30 seconds would be nice as most people will probably spend less than that time on a single webpage before switching to another one. That way it won't really affect the browsing speed.
Battery life would not be affected too much as the phone will mostly stay in 3G when it is in idle, even if there are some stuff syncing in the background that will turn H back on.
I think that is the intended behavior, at least on my XXKG3 ROM. The network is idle on 3G... as soon I need data, it switches to H+. I tested that numerous times, it is instant.

Hello,
I'm about to be an owner of one of these units, however I do not plan on signing up for tmobile service.
I had an HTC EVO View 4G and there were quite a few roms out there that disabled the sprint activation on boot and a script that disabled the radio. I think that script might still work, however does anyone here make any custom roms that automatically disables it?
I haven't really heard much talk about just using WiFi, who here just uses Wifi? How does it work and perform?
I use WiFi almost always when at home. No problems whatsoever.

Do you have a tmobile subscripttion on it as well though?
I don't want to use a subscription, just don't want my battery to die by having it connect to 3G or searching for it.

No I had unlocked it. I use airtel/aircel in India. It should work just the same I think. I keep it on airplane mode always. When I need net, I use WiFi or I get off the airplane mode and enable the mobile data to access internet. Simple as that. There is a setting in the buld.prop as well which allows me to restrict the mobile connection to 2g only thereby enabling me to receive messages if I want to. It saves the battery needed for scanning for 3g or lte network. So I guess shouldn't be a problem irrespective which network you are on.

Ok, I found this and I tried it.
You can 1st enable phone by editing the build.prop settings (need to be rooted for that).
Once that is done, you need to type in *#*#4636#*#*
It automatically opens a Testing Menu of Settings. This gives useful information including battery etc.
Under the Tablet menu, there is an option to disable the radio all-together. I haven't tried this , but I did try changing the network mode from 2g-3g-4g and it worked for that. I would still suggest you use the airplane mode and put on/off wifi as and when needed. I didn't try this because saw some people complaining that after disabling it, they were not able to re-enable the radio. So be-warned about this.
Anyone know how to toggle 3g now? I would like to use it as default and only enable LTE when needed because the battery drain is crazy for LTE. However, as we all known, the dropdown 3g toggle is not there. I see an access point menu but whenever I select EHRPD the phone remains on 4G. Is there a way to get the EHRPD selection to "stick" or is there another way to solve this?

depends on what your running, and what provider you have. Most cases can be fixed with a LTE toggle app from the market. This doesn't work with Verizon on stock rom (last time I checked). However, I have Verizon with Note II running liquidsmooth android 4.2.2, and for me it's as simple as setting CDMA/EVDO under settings > wireless & networks > More... > mobile networks > network mode

Okay. I am using Jelly'Beans' rom for Verizon's Note II. But the toggle for CDMA is removed in there. So should I ask for it in that thread?

I am using the same rom, and would love to have this functionality as 3G works better at my work than 4G.

Found the old phone info app online and that took care of the issue. The new phone info app on the market does not have the capability to set network modes.

Power Toggles maybe?
Hello,
I want to turn off the 4.5G network, but want to i use a 4G network.
4G+ consumes too much power and battery draining so fast.
How do I turn off the 4.5G network?
I searched a lot but I couldn't find the answer.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe this working,, download "set edit(settings database editor)" from market then open it,, look for this line " hw_networkmode_preference" then click on this line then choose "edit value" clear all then put 11 and reboot,, after that from settings > mobile data > preferred network mode and you will see more options, maybe this help..
Important :
Before you edit anything or that line take screen shot first from the old values ,, In case you like to go back to it.. and don't edit anythings else,,
I think you cannot turn it off 4G+ and maintain 4G only. It is related to the network.
You can't disable 4G+ but you can choose and lock a specific 4G band. You need to root your device for that. In Qualcomm smartphones you can download "Network Signal Guru" app from Play Store then give root permission to lock a band and get rid of 4G Plus.
Please turn off my 4G Plus
There is a app Samsung Band Selection. I was able to block LTE+. But only for Samsung I think, try. I'm probably EM lte+ sensitive. I feel like burning in fingers when lte+ is on...

Bro the drawback is that the app should be kept running is not there any permanent solution or other setting without keeping the app running in background

You don't need to keep that app, you can uninstall it after the locking procedure.

There's no solution for non rooted Qualcomm based smartphones. Some smartphones based on MediaTek & old Samsung smartphones used to support band lock without root.
