[Q] [recovery]A flashable zip with recovery for locked bl - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hy guys!
I came across the problem when i was trying new roms for my Neo. Whenever i flash a new rom I risk that it'll go bootloop because I'm on locked bl. If so i cannot reach recovery again because it is on the /system partition itself which is formatted in the process.
I just wanted to ask if somebody could make a flashable zip for our phones so when i flash a new rom I can flash the recovery straight after the rom.

Why don't u flash a stock rom -> unlock bl -> root to gain CWM -> install ROm
I think wating for sb making Custom Rom for u would take a long time
It's just my opinion :silly:

Install x-parts from the market: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ.. Anyway just make a backup before you flash the rom. Use Flashtool to flash stock firmware, root and install recovery. You can restore your backup from there.:silly:

Yes that would be great..they should include CWM in the rom itself..as in automatically install CWM after flashing rom..before the first boot..

yup thats the problem with locked bootloaders..but if u unlock it then custom kernels will have CWM built-in..

I know that if I unlock the bl I can flash custom kernels but in service menu I have the line: Bootloader unlock allowed: NO. In that case can I still use the testpoint method?
I know how can i install recovery on the rom itself but as I said the phone can get into bootloops after installations and in that case I have to flash stock, flash neov kernel, root flash original kernel install cwm and start the whole process from the beginning.

You can unlock it, but you won't be able to use it(fastboot) until you remove SIM lock (with setool for example-paid, no free way).

I don't think so, may be i am wrong
you neec to unlock bootloader from sony and proceec from there
so there is no way to use adb to import it like it is done in the Xperia s CWM recovery for locked bootloaders or this CWM for Xperia S/Acro HD

you still can install cwm without ub(unlock bootloader) but
you can't flash kernel without ub
the kernel is contained in the boot image or simply explain is what the device uses to boot your device up
thats why we need to ub
i'm still searching cwm for xgo too..realy need it.:silly:

[Q] Flash Kernel

i need a help i wish install
B eXperience v2 【AROMA】【Fastest+Smoothest】
I do not understand anything of this step:
Now flash Munjenis CWM kernel
First of all..for this step, u need a unlocked bootloader!
i assume if u have asked this question...then u obviously dont have ur phone bootloader unlocked!
my advise-either unlock ur bootloader (involves risk of permanently losing warranty)..else, try out the method to flash the rom on locked bootloader (but u need to be rooted)..
all the steps are same for flashing except u dont need flash the kernel..as a result, u dont get memory tweaks also!
P.S-the step i mentioned for flashing on locked bootloader is rom specific!

Hi there!
First things first!
I assume you have Stock rom,so the first step is to Root your device. Here you will find a complete guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460.
Then you have to install CWM from here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020893
After having installed CWM,make a full back up of your current rom/phone configuration (for safety reasons),it's very easy to do it,from inside the CWM menu.
Then, reboot your phone normally and move the eXperience v2.1 zip file into your internal SD Card (NOT the micro-sd of your phone)
Reboot in recovery mode (CWM) and choose Install zip from SD Card.
This will flash your new rom to your device.
I have used the eXperience v2.1 rom,on locked bootloader,in my phone, for a long time and i can assure you that it is excellent!
Can i flaah any rom using CWM?

yes, for rom use CWM for the kernel Fastboot

[Q] Xperia U wont fastboot

Hi!! First I have search over google and dont find any solution, so sorry if someone has written it yet. I have a new xperia U maybe 1,2 month with bootloader unlock status: NO. I update to stock ICS firmware with the sony software (companion) Then I flash one kernel.elf, root the phone with the method of bin4ry. And then i flashed the stock kernel. Well at this point I have the phone rooted. I can do everything on phone but that stock firmware is too slow, hang up .... I want to flash one firmware from free xperia project. In order to install it I have to flash boot.img with fastboot mode. Here comes the trouble my device dont boot in fastboot mode. I think isnt driver problem I have installed drivers from tutorials but in device manager doesnt appear any new device (and I dont hear the sound that a new device has plugged in) To boot in flashmode no problem when sony logo press infinitely vol buttons. To boot in fastboot press vol up and then plug in usb cable. But only appears sony logo and then the battery charging. Some question i asked me is if have bootloader unlocked:NO i can run in fastboot mode? then I can root phone but cannot install custom rom? If not how can I boot into fastboot mode??
NOTE: I have cwm-touch 5.xxx
NOTE: I have donwloaded some CWM v6 I found on google and install it via install zip from sd card on my CWM and then the phone bricked! I have to use the restauration option from companion software.
Well first of all, you should unlock your bootloader........if you want to flash custom kernels.....and the fastboot part try searching on the general section....

Check this thread to see how you can unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
In case you device's bootloader can't be unlocked, you can download some cwm for blocked bootloaders. You can find them on sony xperia u development thread.
The one you tried to install, from Free Xperia Projects, need an Unlocked bootloader.
For now, i think the best thing to do is install stock ics rom via flashtool and try to unlock the bootloader.
@ op
U cant install that rom by fxp
Ur bootloader cannot be unlocked
Bt u can use atis112's patch to install it on a locked bootloader
And bro u wont b able to flash any boot.img files on ur xu

[Q] Questions about installing a custom Rom

Hey there,
My sister has the T-Mobile version
The Official rom is fine, the only problem is that the internal memory fills up and you cannot transfer the apps to the SD Card
My question is
If I install a custom ROM, will it unlock that option? will it then allow me to transfer apps to the sd card?
Thanks

Some of unofficial roms ( CM ,PAC ) have disabled emulated sd so app gets installed in sd card ( external sd ). there will be no storage issue.

awesome, thank you so much, I will get that phone flashed soon.
Now from what i've read you have to unlock the boot loader than you can flash the cutom rom, correct?
does unlocking the bootloader mean rooting the phone? are those the same thing?
And once the boot loaders unlocked or the phone is rooted, can't i just go into the phone's recovery mode and install the custom rom? (after formatting the phone of course)

i'm debating between these 2 roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2411159 or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2419220
I heard they're pre rooted so shouldn't i just have to unlock boot loader, install cwm then install any of those 2 roms?
i got confused when u mentioned push CWM using adb, whats adb?
and whats super su ?

Yes custom roms are rooted.
I told you one of the way to root. SuperSu is an app to provide root access to other apps.
U can follow whatever method u r comfortable with.
The process u said : Unlock boot loader > install CWM > Install rom is right.
Make sure to take backup and read all post for whatever method u r following.

how to install a stock rom....!! (new user)

I have a Xperia U --- OS :Android :- ICS 4.0.4 (stock)
(unroot & locked bootloader) build number :- 6.1.1.b.1.54 (stock)
kernel :- 3.0.8+.... (stock)
my phone not root or unlock the bootloader ,but i want to install a jellybean stock rom by DevSwift1 .I download the flashtool and install it and the drivers,i download the rom,how do i do next steps,i found that i can`t root my phone via flash tool with this firmware(6.1.1.b.1.54 ) it said i have to flash a 6.1.1.b.1.10 kermel to root, and rom install instruction said flash another kernel to install the rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2326515) .
1) how do i install the CWM recovery,i saw that Xperia u not support the rom mannager app. ?
2) is this [Kernel][Dec 04]Experimental v11a[JB 4.1.2] kernel pre install the cwm recovery ?
3)can i back up my current rom nad stock recovery how ?
4)your thoughts about devswift 1 rom ,i mean is it bug free and stable rom ?
5)tell me how to flash the rom ?
first answer my quetion (please put the numbers) secondly I need step by step, stock rom install guide from root to flash the rom....and don`t tell me just flash, pleas explain it futher,i mean bit more, this is my first time in xda and flashing a rom.(i got the boot unlock key)
guide it should be like this(IT easy to understand)
Eg:-
1)step, Root
> ***********
> ************
2)step, unlock boot loader
> ************
first of all choose a kernel and download it
second unlock your bootloader
after that install zip from sd card
finally choose devswift1 rom if you have problems with those pm me
you will get used to it and install every rom you like
i hope so
Prerequisite: go and unlock your boot loader. By unlocking your boot loader it saves you a lot of time in the future when you're flashing Roms since it will allow you to flash a custom kernel.
1) don't use ROM manager. CWM recovery is built into all custom kernels.
2) look at 1).
3) recovery is built into the kernel. backup can be done through CWM, it is pretty obvious once you are in there (volume for navigation, power for select)
4) I am ex-sony user but I've never touched this ROM but honestly everybody's opinion of a ROM will be different so try out different ones and to you see which is the most bug free and stable. To me I do not care about stuff like WiFi or HDMI because I never use it, but to some people it might be a major problem. So its a bit subjective.
5) instructions are included in the OP. Follow it VERY strictly (remember to flash the kernel, and remember to wipe before installing)

The link to the ROM is broken, fix it.
If it's a stock rom you do not need to unlock bootloader just flash stock kernel as said root and install recovery.
So you want to install devswift jb?
Step 1
Unlock your boot loader at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
Follow the instructions there and unlock it.
Step 2
Download a kernel that includes cwm recovery.
Step 3
Download devswift jb
Step 4
Boot into recovery
Step 5
Follow thread instructions and flash!

For your info, this kernel is for jb so you need to flash an ICS kernel. If you flash a jb kernel it will end it in brick.

OK so you first of all, unlock your bootloader.
Then, you visit the devswift's jb thread, download the ROM and the kernel he asked you to flash.
Next, you flash the kernel via fastboot. Now, you boot into recovery and flash the ROM which is now supposed to be in your SD card.
Now you wipe data, cache and dalvik. Then, you flash the ROM. Next you reboot and let it settle.
Actually after unlocking the bootloader you can just follow devswift's instructions and nothing will go wrong.

hey man, you can unlock your bootloader in a simple step, you don't need to install tha sdk to your laptop or pc
you said that you already have a flashtool, and downloaded and installed drivers
note that if you unlock your bootloader the files will be gone (as in all file on phone and internal)
follow this step:
1. go to this site and get the code http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (click "start unlocking the boot loader", then click "continue", click "yes i'm sure", check the boxes and click "i accept", enter your name, imei (note: remove the last digit coz its only need 14 digits), enter your email, and later on they will send you for the unlock key, save it safely)
2. open flashtool, connect your device in usb debugging mode, check it on the settings
3. click the BLU at the top at the right of the flashicon
4. later it will ask you to disconnect your device, and power off it
5 reconnect your devicein the usb cable in FLASHMODE. (hold the volume down button while connecting to usb cable)
5. Againconnectt your phone in FASTBOOT mode. (hold volume up while connecting to usb cable)
6. It will prompt a window with your IMEI number, insert your unlock key and click "unlock".
wait to finish and reboot it's done, hope i help you :good:

I had troubles the first time unlocking bootloader before on my Xperia SOLA the flashtool wasn't working to unlock. If flashtool doesn't work there is another way or other ways(I think) to unlock bootloader which happened to me. As I remembered I used a command on command prompt.
