Where is the microphone located? - Nokia Lumia 920

I am guessing the microphone is at the bottom where the speakers are but there are also a series of tiny holes at the top of the phone. Anyone have any idea?

There are two mics. One on the bottom and one on the top. The mic at the top is for noise cancellation.

Hm i don't have this phone but i heard that there is not mic on the top for voice cancellation. Also video is Mono so sound is coming from one mic.
But as i said i don't have this phone so please someone to confim it or not.

Actually, it has three mics

Anyone know what the hole at the back of the phone is bottom right of the 2 holes?

Just bought a case, and it seems to be covering it, is it the video recording mic or? Not talking about the 2 holes next to it (in the centre), talking bout the hole outside the kevlar at bottom right.
I believe it to be a noise cancelling microphone.
I maybe wrong but I was just thinking that possibly is the noise cancelling microphone so it picks up the background ambient noise to help make you have your conversation clearer. with it covered you may notice that people complain that it sounds like you have an echo when you're talking to them over the phone.
Why don't you test your video record microphone theory

I'd agree with this its at the same position as the front mic

According to teardown images from iFixit there are three microphone module on Razr: this one can be used for noise reduction o as right channel for stereo audio on video recording ( left microphone under the gap near the camera).
If anyone can check if audio during video recording is stereo or mono we can have a reasonable answer.
What two holes?
My RAZR only have one hole on the back - the microphone.

Mine, too. I think someone poked holes in your RAZR.

[Q] Can we enable the speakers to go stereo?

I checked the other speaker questions but didn't really satisfy me.
As you can see with our Z Ultras the earphone and speakerphones look to be the same (symetrical). It reminded me of the HTC One which has the best front forward speakers when watching a movie, and also have symmetrical speakers.
Is there a way we can boost the left earphone to match the right when watching a movie like the HTC One speakers? I am hoping it's not a limitation of the hardware earphone because if we could boost the left speaker to match the right it would be awesome!
Anyone know anything about it?
Thanks!
Getting audio from anything other than the person on the other end of the call is not possible. I'm also pretty sure the earpiece speaker would break if you pumped the volume up that high (the conference option while in a call will activate the "big" speaker, i.e the speaker at the bottom).
- Mono = 1 (Ultra)
- Stereo = 2 (HTC One)

Dude, they are not symmetrical at all. You're confusing the speaker with the microphone. The loudspeaker is at the bottom side, near the corner. Try playing some audio and cover it with your finger and you'll hear difference.

D'oh! I didn't realize that wasn't the speaker. I think the next Ultra should follow what the HTC one did because it would be perfect!
Thanks for the clarification, unk_damnation!

I realized now that i failed in my previous post. I though you asked if it was possible to use the second - in-call ear-piece, as a regular speaker I'm a little slow today.

[Q] Top speaker is louder than bottom speaker.

Hello,
My Z2's top speaker is "significantly" louder than bottom speaker. When I close the top speaker with my finger, veeery little sound is coming from bottom speaker. It wasn't like this before. Also, the ringtone volume got significantly lower during an incoming call. I barely hear it.
Any ideas what might be the cause and what'd be the fix for it?
Thank you.

But my top speaker is way more louder than my bottom speaker. It's like there's no sound coming at all from my bottom speaker. Only a little.
Then it's a hardware related problem. It is normal that the bottom speaker is a little bit louder, because the notification light in the top speaker.
I don't think it's a hardware problem, because it wasn't like this before. This happened recently, like 2 weeks ago or something.

1+X Speaker is too QIUET

1+X Speaker is too QIUET. The 1+1 is louder. Is it like this or is it DEFECT?

Could be a defect - though I haven't got a 1+1 to compare to...
Its just as loud as my htc one m8 though.
Its plenty loud in my opinion. Was slightly disappointed when i realised it was only one speaker on the bottom
Probably a defect. Get a return or refund. The earpiece and speaker both get LOUD.

You can't really compare the two, the OPO has stereo output. The OPX has only the left speaker. Unless you are referring to the ear speaker, then they about the same.
It's not really clear enough to hear especially when I'm outside

It was a Hardware issue or do you solve these issue with Software? Like reset vor fullwipe? I have the same Problem... I can hear my phone-partner but it is verry verry noisy...
Either you really have a hardware defect or a serious problem with your hearing
I nearly get a heart attack every morning when my alarm goes off... and yes, it is THAT loud! -.- I had to reduce the volume of my alarm .mp3 via software to be bearable.
Mine is ok. Slightly above average. Maybe its individual preference
I don't mean the two speakers on the bottom side. I mean the speaker which we use for calling on the top side. Alarm and Musik works great, because it cames Form the two speakers.
It's possible to make stereo sound with earpiece like nexus 5?

OPO is dual-speakers, not stereo output. Although, my OPX still has a louder loudspeaker as my OPO. This is very noticeable in playing games and music.

Speakers: upper one next to frontcam has more "loudness" than lower one on music

Sorry for my englsih,
seems that the upper speaker has more loudness/bass than the lower one.
Not that it is much louder but it sounds "fuller", the lower one a bit thinner.
Are there minimal differneces between the speakers as the upper one is the one for phone calls and a kind of "primary" maybe?
Have no compare device so I just liked to ask here.
Thx
I experience this on my z5 E6653, but assumed it was because the bottom speaker is in a different position internally because the micro USB has to be able to fit.

Well, been searching for a teardown too and it looked like different speakers, not that good to view, but maybe.
Anyway, since that it is "no stereo" stereo?
There's another thread on here somewhere about this. Most people were reporting there top speaker being louder. My bottom one is a bit louder. There is an xposed module that adjusts stereo volume by channel so if you're rooted there is hope.
Well its not louder, its "fatter" volume, more bass.
Store told me thats fine as only the upper one is made for bass, so they should be both at same volume, mine are, but the one next to USB sounds thinner at same volume.
So all fine with that as long as they are equal loud.
