My freind is a huge n00b and he rooted his US Cellular LG Genesis with Gingerbreak. He got exdialer so he thought he can delete the stock dialer, but since he did that the phone has no.service... He has no backup for that stock dialer or a nandroid, and the phone is on stock 2.2.2, so if anyone has an lg stock dialer apk from 2.2.2 it might be helpful, and if anyone has any other ideas I'll be happy to hear them.
Thx,
Aryeh

Well, to avoid future troubles, tell him about how to make nandroid backups or how to use titanium backup before attempting anything specially for such delicate thing like system/apps
I guess you could just borrow that apk but... if problems persists, he will have to reinstall with *somethig like * kies / odín the stock rom he used to have!

I guess you could just borrow that apk but i strongly recommend you a factory reset you could find that at
Settings -> Privacy settings -> Factory data reset
You will lose of course all of your data in apks numbers contacts etc so make a backup for those :fingers-crossed:

yeah sorry, thats why i edited my answer :silly:
im assuming it's dialertab.apk, right? and... is his rom deodexed? (or does it have .odex files along with each apk)
i'll see what i can do
Its odexed and kies and odin are both for samsung phones and his Phone is lg, and i tried searching online for the stock rom file but i couldn't find it anywhere, i guess the phone ain't popular enough..

yeah, there is practically not much development for it... thought a friend had one to borrow that but he didn't
you could ask one them, that actually have one and rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1651211
they'll have to extract both dialer tab + corresponding odex file, and you have to place it right back to system/app, set perms and reboot
i know the feel, just like me back then when i bought my Ace M
The phone.odex is still there but ill try pm'ing somebody on that thread
And btw i don't know the feel cuz its my friends phone and he doesn't even know how to post on xda Lol...
I know better not to delete stuff like that w/o backup.... Im just trying to help the poor guy which has no service for the last few hours...

I actually deleted my stock dialer as well as i thought i wouldn't need it. I do not and have never used my android for calls. However, after deletion, i had the error "unfortunately phone stopped working" which popped up every second and made my phone nearly unusable. I was rooted and had a file manager with access to sensitive program files (of course...or i wouldn't be here). I factory reset but the error didn't go away. Three days i tried everything. Then, i went into system files-priv app-lgteleservice.apk (which had the dialer icon) and downloaded it manually. It worked! The apk was on my phone the entire time. Hope this helps someone else.

My bluetooth is gone.... I have a freshly rooted Amaze. Stock ROM. The only thing I have done is rooted it, and deleted all the bloatware apps. How do I get my bluetooth back???
All it does when I try to turn it on is say "Turning on..." then goes back to "Off" ....
I updating my manager's phone at work and I was going to send her apps through bluetooth because I didn't feel like taking the back plate off her phone and then taking off the battery to put in my MicroSD card..... (whatever I'm lazy) .... so her bluetooth turned on.... mine didn't....
I did a restart, turned the phone off, even did a battery pull.... nothing....
Do I really have to do a factory reset....? You guys know I hate factory resets!

I replied in the other thread asking about backing up. Disregard it, if you really like stock rom then maybe load a stock rooted rom. Though as soon as I get an amaze I will be loading the nrg rom personally. Backup first using titanium, don't forget to export your contacts to SD card! My GF had to type in 249 contacts all over again on her evo 3d when I loaded a rom for her and forgot to export the contacts.

Before you go debloating your ROM, you may want to check up on odexed vs deodexed. I'm pretty sure the syock ROM is odexed, vs the ROM is posted which is deodexed. Basically, odexed, some apps are tied into the system and spread out or something, vs deodexed where all of the app's content is stored in the apk file and can be removed without causing any issues. There should be a thread somewhere

I actually fixed it.... this is what I did....
"Rom Manager downloaded the ROM to phone storage.... so the directory was pretty much something like this:
Phone Storage > clockworkrecoverymod > a whole bunch of folders > a whole bunch MORE folders > 123 > 1234 > Amaze_Quick_Sense_V.X.X.X.zip
so I moved the file (by using Astro File Manager) to
ext_sd > update.zip"
its in quotes because I wrote this in a message.... I just didn't feel like retyping it all...
Cool, glad to hear that.

Bumping your last post after 2 hours won't win you friends, nor get you help.
The whole Beats port was badly thought out, adds zero SQ improvements, seems to mess up all ROMs and is possibly illegal - anyone who tries it deserves all the problems they get IMO.
See if you can find any crap that Beats has left behind on your sd card, manually delete, factory rest and reflash. What else can you do?

I finally upgraded to one of the ginormous phones after fighting it for so long. I just couldn't take the "out of memory" errors anymore on my Aria. So now that I have the HTC One X, I'd like to sell my mint-condition Aria. It's got CWM and CyanogenMod 7.0.3, but like I said, with hardly any apps on it, it's constantly out of memory.
So my question is what should I do with this Aria before I list it on Craigslist?
Official HTC Android 2.2
Fresh CM7
Other?
Plain ol' stock Aria's are selling for $100-$125 here in LA. Should I add a premium price for having it rooted and custom ROM installed?
In my experience, having a rooted phone with a custom ROM had actually lessened interest in phones I've sold. I would go full stock, unrooted, stock recovery also. You never know when someone will want to do a factory reset, and if I understand correctly, this causes problems for rooted phones. The people that know how and are interested in rooting will do it anyway, the rest will be perfectly happy with it in stock form.
Good point. Thanks.

I'd go with rooted 2.3.5 liberty S rom. I'd delete some stock apps and overclocked the core. Then i'd sell it. But that's just me
Stock ROM I would pay less if the Phone's ROM is customed.
I'd just leave it on a stock looking ROM.

Dude... Jealous of your rooted One X!
stock with automatic transmission
My guess is you would have better luck for resale with stock ROM.
I base this on the experience of selling a nearly new car. I have always been a fan of manual transmissions and to this day that's all we have in the garage. About 20 years ago I was assigned overseas and had to sell a nearly new Mazda 626 with a stick. I got few calls, all of whom had overlooked "manual transmission" in the ad and backed out immediately when they realized it. I ended up selling it back to the dealer at a big loss.
Only five percent or so of automobiles on the road today have manuals. I imagine custom ROM users are a similarly small minority.
Even though the experience is better, even though my own technophobe wife loves her Aria running CM7 nightly, a random buyer--who probably will drive up with an automatic--would be more likely to buy with the stock ROM.
PS: By mentioning a car sale 20 years ago, I've probably identified myself as part of an even smaller minority: old people who run with a custom nightly

I can tell you that once I tried to wipe data from the ROM itself (not CWM Recover) and it hosed the phone. I couldn't boot to anything.
This was when I first got my Aria and didn't know much about rooting Android devices.
I would restore Stock and sell it. If the buyer asks about any techie-stuff like "is it rooted?" you could root it, load CWM Recovery, and ask if he'd like a custom ROM on it. You could even ask for a little extra $$ for the effort... Just a thought.

Today?! Awesome, I've been checking daily but haven't heard yet... off to look now!
Finally broke down and bought this app. Price tag is a little high considering you can get all the separate applications free, but not all under one roof. But that brings me to my question.
Have you or anyone else you heard of had issues with any of the programs in rom toolbox? Ad blocker has been a little inconsistent for me. Know he has been working on it though.
Does the boot screen changer work? Had any issues with font changer? Just want to know before I run into the same thing. Some of it is a little dangerous to run without being optimized for the phone. Especially the EVO LTE.
Any info would be appreciated. Please share any positive / negative effects you've had. Thanks!
It all works for me.. Some things such as the status bar icon installer might look a little goofy on Sense ROMs(I'm on cyanogemmod so I haven't tried it) but everything else should work. Its all mostly fundamental android tools that should work on any phone, EVO, GS3, or otherwise.

Another question unrelated to rom toolbox. In titanium backup pro u are supposed to be able to restore all apps & data at once. I've looked in settings and preferences but can't find it. Does it come up when u are restoring?
Pretty much the only reason I bought it was for the one click restore.

Which ROM are you running? I haven't tried it on a Sense ROM so I can't say for sure but that's all I can think of that might interfere with it. The tool basically just takes the animation and puts it into the right folder in the root of your phone.
I know on my old Hero it was stored a little different on some ROMs so that some boot animations with sounds and stuff caused issues.
Point is, its probably ROM based, not hboot related.
Edit: If you check the boot animation installer settings you can change the target of where its installing the animation. If you can find out where its installed on your ROM there's no reason for it not to work as long as you're rooted.
Edit#2: If on a sense ROM change the destination to /system/customize/resource/
And then change from bootanimation.zip to *scratch that, read post below for the right .zip name*
No guarantees it'll work but it looks like that's where its stored on a Stock w Goodies ROM I have on my SD card. I took the bootanimation from it and installed it on my paranoid android ROM and it worked so it should work the other way around.

Boot animations just require root, and you have to tell rom toolbox the path/filename of the boot animation zip that the rom is looking for.
For sense-based roms on evo lte, that is
/system/customize/resource/SPC_bootanimation.zip
That filename is actually mutable. It's defined in /system/customize/CID/default.xml
So go into rom toolbox, boot animations. Then hit menu, Install Locations.
Common locations: "HTC EVO 4G"
That loads the other two settings with defaults that are closest to correct. Directory is correct, and you only have to modify the filename slightly from bootanimation.zip to SPC_bootanimation.zip
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Basically, rom toolbox could read the correct values right out of default.xml. I don't know why it doesn't. Maybe the path/name of default.xml itself isn't consistent on all devices or maybe he just didn't think of it yet.
