I'm on the latest nAa kernel, using MiniCM7-2.1.9, but wifi just doesn't work. I can browse the internet using my 3G connection, just not wifi for some reason.
Wifi shows it's connected, the signal bars is full but it just doesn't download any data, it's like it's not connected at all. It's able to get an IP address and the link speed is good but it just doesn't get any data.....
I've tried searching through different posts and tried solutions such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21766413&postcount=498
as well as the instruction to fix wifi in the Troubleshooting page here:
http://code.google.com/p/minicm/wiki/Troubleshooting
and this:

I also cleaned the dalvik cache by going into recovery, reboot and still doesn't work.
and they all don't work....
UPDATE:
OK nvm it works now. I reflashed the kernel, wipe data & factory reset and then reflash the rom, and now it works. It's the exact same thing I did for the past 30 mins, except this time I also reflashed the kernel. I just hope it'll continue working.....
UPDATE 2:
Ok, now it's not working again. I rebooted the phone twice, and it was able to connect to wifi no problem. But then later on it stopped working again, I didn't install or change anything either.
I also noticed that whenever I'm connected to wifi on my phone, the wifi on my PC will timeout and drop connection. If I then try to connect wifi on my PC, then the wifi on my phone will timeout. Basically, I can't connect both at the same time.
But all my other devices work fine. My Motorola Milestone and my mom's HTC Desire Z works fine. My iPod Touch works fine, I've NEVER had a wifi issue with any of my devices until I tested out my new Xperia X10 Mini Pro today.......
I haven't tried testing it on stock rom & kernel, because the first thing I did was to unlock the bootloader and flash the nAa kernel + MiniCM7-2.1.9. And I can't be bothered flashing back to stock since I won't be staying on stock anyway, especially after setting up everything already so I can't really be bothered.....
Anyway, so I then tried to delete wpa_supplicant.conf in data/misc/wifi (as mentioned above) and this time it shows "Error" under Wi-Fi settings.
This is really annoying me....
One note about wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf). In stock kernel with MiniCM Pro from paul-xxx the right ctrl_interface was wlan0.
nAa kernel (with MiniCM from nAa) needs tiwlan0.
So it isn't necessery to delete file with all wifi networks when changing kernel/ROM but one value in config file.
ya, except the value was tiwlan0 already, I tried changing it back to wlan0 and nothing happens. So then I tried deleting it, and now whenever I try to turn Wifi on it just shows Error.
What's actually strange about this is that I've backed up the original file, and when I restored it and tried to turn Wifi on, it turns on but doesn't display any network.
Before, it would display tons of networks, and it would connect to my router (but doesn't download data for some reason). It doesn't work but at least you can tell it's able to detect networks.
Now, it doesn't even show any networks. The only way to fix this is to restore from recovery or do a wipe......
Ok so I did some research and could this be the case?

I've also tried to assign static IP but it still doesn't work. I went into my router and checked the ARP, and it shows this:
IP address Flags MAC Address Device
192.168.1.2 Complete 00:18E:48:42:C9 br0
192.168.1.3 Complete 00:E0:4C:A3:8B:A8 br0
192.168.1.6 Incomplete 18:87:96:FE:16:3E br0
192.168.1.5 Complete 48:5D:60:3B:5E:5D br0

where 192.168.1.6 is assigned to my phone. I'm not that good with router stuff but know the basics, does anyone know what I need to configure?
I'm having the same problem with my mini pro

I haven't had time to try this out yet, but maybe you wanna give it a try? Scroll to "PROBLEMS WITH WIFI?" in this topic here:

I have looked around for a couple of hours and cannot find any answer to this.
I have just got my S3 back from being repaired after Sudden Death, and have rooted using Odin and CWM Touch 6.0.2.8, and flashed the latest cm10.1 Nightly (Currently 17022013)
I am able to connect to the mobile network (3 UK) and get a good H+ connection.
I cleared all of my saved wifi networks, and try to connect to my home connection. It Accepts the WPA key, and gets to 'Obtaining IP Address...' and does not go any further.
I have tried now on several wireless networks including insecure ones, and it will not connect.
Please help if you've had anything similar, or if I need to provide more information, a log of some kind
I have installed the latest nightly from CM10.1 and the issue is still present. Which makes me think that it is not a CM issue.
I will be re-flashing the stock image of the phone to confirm this shortly. Will post results

this worked for me but i found it easiser to swap the folder before instaling rom
I recently am battling this wireless issue. Here's the timeline of what I did:
Rooted Samsung S3 LTE (aka i9305) with old bootloader 4.1.2. Firmware was XXBMD5. Wifi was perfect.
Flashed Agni kernel. (At this point, I wasnt paying attention if wifi was good as I was using mostly data.)
Flashed AMCHA v9 KitKat ROM. Updated the firmware to XXUFOI1 but still with old bootloader. (At this point, I did notice that wifi was spotty and was dropping more frequently.)
So now I notice that when I am near the router ie full wifi range, I get connected. No problem whatsoever, but if I move further like 3 meters, it drops, and I get "Authentication Error Occurred". Once dropped, if I try to reconnect, it would not get connected or prompt incorrect password.
I searched online and found its common among Samsung users. I have tried the steps as outlined in a thread.
1) Flashed stock rom with root.
2) Full wipe and factory reset.
3) disable power saving mode via *#0011#.
Still no joy. So I have saved a log. Basically, I started the log capture when I turned on the wifi within 2 meter range to the router and then walk away from the router and it got disconnected and then I walked back again. So I hope wireless experts can tell me whats going on with the attached log.
What I have not done:
Flash stock JB ROM via Odin. (Users have reported that it doesnt help so I did not try. as yet.)
Take apart the phone to check for loose screw in wifi module.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
since a couple of days I experience a problem with my WIFI. The phone is neither rooted nor does it use a custom ROM.
When trying to switch on WIFI it turns into light green, then green and then it changes back to gray immediately. Same behavior can be seen when trying to switch WIFI on via settings.
This behavior appeared all of a sudden, I dont think that I changed something or installed a new app that could have caused that error. Maybe there was an update of an already installed app...
I then installed a terminal emulator and tried to start wifi via command line with
Code:
svc wifi enable
. That command immediately causes a message:
Code:
reset_reason_init
Killed
Wifi module seems to work. I've done
Code:
ifconfig
and it comes up with a usual result except it does not have an counters > 0
I've also tried another app called "Wifi Analyzer". That app seemed have no problems with wifi since it shows a huge number of networks around (but of course does not connect to them)
So, from my point of view there is an issue with Android that wont let me start WIFI. I think it is not a problem with hardware.
I really need my WIFI. I also tried do do a factory reset. But that doesnt help either....
Any ideas on how to fix that issue?
Regards
Olaf
Go to Sammobile. Com and download the firmware you are on currently on check this by booting to recovery mode or check in settings menu about
Once you have it downloaded flash it in odin to your s5 then everything will hopefully be working this is a small chance of lost data so backup any important data before you flash the firmware in odin

Hi everyone.
I have not been using my Mi Pad 1 for quite some time now. Recently, my brother installed an app that allows him to disable other users from connecting into the wifi. He stopped using the tablet because the wifi detects the network but does not connect (stuck with "saved"). I tried removing the SD card and restoring factory settings but still did not work. I also tried connecting it to a different ISP but it didn't work. All other devices are connecting to the home wifi with no problems.
I flashed the tablet with CWM and cyanogenmod 11 on both systems 1 and 2. Same thing. I was detecting Wifi but not able to connect.
I have also tried modifying the router settings as usually suggested by other users. Still not connected.
I also tried renaming WPA_supplicant.conf to WPA_supplicant.bak - it did not work as well
I have tried draining the battery completely and charging it again until 100% charged. Righty now, the tablet wifi is stuck on "turning on" status.
This is actually my first time doing a root, custom recovery and custom ROM install. I am really impressed by the guides posted here in XDA. I really hope there's still a solution to my problem.
Thanks for all the help!
*******I don't think it is a hardware issue because the tablet still detects available networks and is able to connect to bluetooth devices.
Hello.. Did you fix your issue?
