[Q] Default MODEM version for INDIA? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, i flashed JoelDroid ROM and it flashed the modem too. I came back to stock from the nandroid backup but still donot have the modem back.
Can u please let me know the version of the modem that is default for INDIA?

There is no "default" modem, the modem you got your phone with depends on when you got the phone and what carrier you're on mostly.

If you came back to your 4.0.3 stock rom as in your sig then most likely your rom is: I9100XWLP7/I9100ODDLP9/I9100DDLPA/I9100XWLP7. In red is your default modem ver.: DDLPA. Complete pckage of the modem + RIL files you can get from HERE
For the newest stock rom for your country (ICS XWLPW) modem would be DDLPB. Regards

[Q] How to change baseband?

Bought an S2 today. Its a UK Orange phone.
Here's what I did.
Installed an insecure BVKE2 using Odin (original fw was same)
Rooted it, then installed CWM
Installed HyperDroid
Now when the phone booted, it has the HyperDroid rom. However, the baseband still shows the old BVKE2 version.
Does that matter? How do I change that to a newer version? Will I lose root if I flash some firmware via Odin?
Please give a detailed reply

The baseband of your phone is nothing but the modem or the software that communicates with the network. It is usually flashed separately from the ROM unless it is part of the CWM update file.
All modems work differently with networks and you will need to figure out which one is best for your needs. Certain ROM's such as CheckROM come with kitchen apps that allow you to download and apply modems from within the ROM.
Check this link for more info.
Cheers!
Thanks a lot man So I am just gonna flash a new modem and that baseband will change, right?

[Q] Baseband version

hi guys,
i've tried few other roms, XXLPH recently and it changed my Baseband to XXLPH. i recovered my phone back to original Stock ROM 2.3.5 (XWKJ1) where my baseband was XXKI4, everything is like it was before except the baseband, which is still XXLPH. is it possible to somehow flash only the baseband without wipeing the phone with stock rom via Odin ? everything seems to be working so do I even need to flash it ? also, I don't really understand what that Baseband does.
thank you
Most of the ROMs don't include a baseband / modem / radio, so you can flash what you want separately. If you cand find an Odin flashable modem file, then you can change only that, without any other modifications. There are also CWM flashable ones, which is much easier than with Odin.
ok, got it.. so the question is, do I need to change it back to KI4 if everything is working with LPH (and my battery seems to live longer with LPH) although LPH is for ICS 4.0.3 and KI4 is for GB 2.3.5 which i have now ? thanks
//and where can I get these ? in Odin it is Modem button right ? and in CWM it is update.zip, so I just need my XXKI4, any ideas ? thanks
If it works leave it .
Modem files are in the Modem thread in dev section .

ok, i found them.. but the second question please

You are right . In odin it's the "modem".And in CWM it's a ZIP file(whether it's name is Update doesn't matter)
thank you all

Any modem is flash-able if it is made specifically for your Phone's model (I assume GT-i9100)...
I have just successfully flashed XXKI3 into XWLP2 ICS . I'll let you guys know if the signal improves, cause the stock one sucked!

[Q] Can I flash KH3 modem on ICS 4.0.4?

Pretty simple question here. I searched the forums before starting this thread, but I got contradicting results...
I have Stock Samsung ICS 4.0.4 XWLPW on my GT-I9100. It has the default modem for my country, but I want to flash KH3 modem on it for better reception and battery life. Is it possible? (I didn't wanna try as last time I lost my CSC when I was flashing another modem and then did nandroid restore... )
I hope to get a reply.
Thanks!

u can as long as u get a tar file (or the Modem.bin file of KH3) of the same to flash vide ODIN, if ur Stock 4.0.4 is not rooted.
If rooted with a wrk'ng CWM then u can flash the Zip version which is easily available
Hey,
Just flash trough Odin(If tar) or CWM(if zip) And nothight bad will happen..
Just do NANDRIOD BACKUP
I flashed modem many times and and nothing happened..

What about RIL? Should I use GetRIL? According to certain users, they loose signal if they match baseband and RIL using GetRIL...
I don't know if my getRIL matches but I have good signal So Do if you want.
P.S. I Created my Rom so I edited settings in What I want and my battery life is good

So i went ahead and flashed KH3. Everything is fine but Ril and baseband don't match. As of now I have excellent ovenight battery drain. Lost just 2% over 9hrs that the phone was left sleeping. I just hope that I won't face any problems
due to the mismatch...

Just wondering if it's possible to extract the modem from the firmware and flash it with Odin or mobile Odin?
I was also wondering, I made a nandroid backup of my original 4.1.2 ROM the only problem is it's on the new baseband which I don't have, will it cause any no baseband errors? Please help!!!???

Yu can pull a modem and flash it .
Or download a cwm zip modem and replace the modem inside .
RIL possibly use GetRil from the market .
