Nice can't wait...so the roms begin

lol damn. I spent a few hours trying to get the T-mobile plan to work. Played with the phone for a few minutes, and now I see a ROM and I can't help but want to flash it already. Hahaha, now I remember why I missed my Galaxy Nexus so much. I've been without an Android phone for 2 months and I almost forgot the need to flash!
I've only had my nexus for an hour Had the rom and kernel all built and ready for testing hahaha pretty quick turnover
Let the wars begin! Now that we're rooted.. There's nothing left but to created & flash.

Hopefully your kernel will yield better battery life than the default google nonsense kernel
the Nexus 4 is now pushed to AOSP?
we have the source for kernel and other stuff for the devs to develop?

It's pretty stock mostly just brought it up to date with mainline I'm going to test my overclock version tonight and then start on an undervolt mod maybe? Gotta tidy up but not bad for my first day with the thing
*edit NEED fast charge charging by usb is slooooow
I'd like to have that extended power menu, but I can't find it... I've googled and looked in the themes and apps section.
Will any one flashable zip(extended power menu) from the galaxy nexus work on the nexus 4?
I am on the stock rom, rooted with TWRP.

But I will put up a "Tweak pack" that you download separately and run in CWM after install of Rebel Aokp (if wanted). It will offer a choice of things like, replace/add launchers (nova, trebuchet, xperia s etc), Change bootanimation, Add reverted Gapps(black), Different kernel choices (dormanx/siyah, with extweaks in settings vs xxtweaker etc) Bravia engine addon, beats addon.. Stuff like that, working on it now, and will release with Rebel AOKP 1.3

he is using hydra sources, he hasn't added a comma in sources, it's net chip work compiled, only that. He hasn't added anything. Anyway netchip work is aokp + cm9 but at least he managed how to merge code to have an aokp in sgs2.
Is there emoij integration?

Hi guys,
Welcome to the Nostromo ROM collection!
Currently building CM10.1, CM10, AOKP jb-mr1 and RootBox versions straight from branch and have included several tuning utilities and extras in the kitchen'ed versions (all free) that I normally can't do without. And yes the camera in the 4.2.1 versions of CM10.1 DO include Paranoramic shots!
The Para features in RootBox work exceptionally well! Woohoo!
160 DPi works well and all seems smooth plus memory seems to stay at ca 440M free. Only issue I've found so far was with Apex Launcher's drawer in vertical continuous mode, the text of the icons smeared and wouldn't reset. Using Paginated style solved that.
Main features of CM10.1 version are new notification layout, updated settings, 4x digital Zoom Camera(Z!) latest gapps support.
Download links for the ROMs, gapps JB and the DorimanX kernel I've tested:
Downloads
Latest version are the following:

Oh, how to install:
Just boot to recovery, wipe to factory if coming from another ROM, in Advanced wipre battery and dalvik then install the ROM.
The JB gapps are also needed. On the RootBox build you'll need to install the gapps even if doing an upgrade from a previous version.
If you want to install a custom kernel then I'd recommend DorimanX (I'm running that myself), but be sure to reboot to recovery from Advanced menu first to make sure it activates the CWM used by that kernel first then reboot to system.
Any problems just let me know!!

Features are incredibly good battery life, smooth, seems to work with any 3rd party JB kernel. I've not had any FC at all.
I also used Titanium Backup and restored straight from an ICS backup into JB, apps, data and all with no problems! Only issues I've ever had are when I tried to deodex the ROM and then the import wouldn't work but everything else is amazing!!
During the latest builds I've had EGL issues and the screen stays blank after booting with the new ROM. I've tried AOSP and AOKP with the same result and this started from beginning of October so the last good build I had was around September 30th.
Anyone else seen this?

Needs a custom kernel!! I'm using DorimanX V5.86-B3 JB Mali version now and it works!! with 160DPI too...
Yeah because it has the new Mali drivers that were introduced in the recent CM10 nighties - They require another kernel that utilises those drivers or rather, is compatible with them.

Yup! Running smooth now with both AOKP and CM10 builds using DormanX latest. Gonna try and use a SkyFire as well although that's the beta build I think still.
Build 4 on the way!
I'm currently building Build 4 versions of CM10 and AOKP and will kitchen those to include DorimanX kernels so they run fine with the latest Mali drivers plus will have several extra apps under /data/app to make the upgrade run a bit smoother!
can u atleast post a few images....

Nostromo 0.9 CM10 release.
It's here!! The latest build with stock kernel and no issues as far as I can tell!!! It boots and you can see a screen!! With gapps installed as well it's running nice and smoothly so now I'll be testing power saving etc to see how long it can last for but normally I set my display to remain active for 1 minute, never sleep WiFi and then tune the other bits for better power.
At least it'll boot with no custom kernel now so stock is fixed. And yes it's 4.1.2 CM10...
Again, massive thanks to the whole CM team, TeamHacksung and of course the developers of the apps I've included. I've included them because they are completely necessary in my mind and give functionality that SHOULD be in Android by default!!
:good:
Enjoy!!
Index
Hi, this ROM it's now featured on the Index of ROMs from the Android Development Forum.
Any observation please send me a PM.
Nostromo 0.9 new source tree
OK I completely redid the source tree for Nostromo 0.9 CM10. I'd had issues with gallery and battery life had dropped off back to ICS levels again. But, with Nostromo 0.9 I've been running 2 days and yesterday had 7 hours on battery with 35% used so 65% left so it's getting better. And that was 30% screen.
Hopefully this will help with others out there as well!
And I'm building the AOKP version right now.

Fixed! The link had http and https so removed the first and it'll work now.
New versions coming today as well!
Update coming soon!
It seems CyanogenMod have got a few issues with the libnl headers section so I'm building one now with the libnl-headers from the AOKP jellybean branch and that's going through. Otherwise it fails to build on the LLVM section...
what's the current version? "30/12/2012" ?!? releases from future?

I'm building again today as previous attempt a few days ago ended with a usable ROM but not the kernel package plus the netlink problems so will see how it goes.

I take no responsability if your phone crashes, burns, explodes, kills your daughter/son/pet/wife or starts a thermonuclear war, when using my ROM,I try to do my best to keep things safe, but one never knows
So,here it is
A really close to AOSP experience with Linaro,AOSP Openmaster,CodeAuroraForum[Qualcomm guys] optimizations
Built from Linaro KitKat sources, with their special ARM optimized toolchain,
With load of optimizations in a wide variety of projects(and more are to come)
Compiled with Google's Kernel for MSM(planning to switch to a custom kernel with more and more optimizations) to have a perfectly working build and very stable.
Includes ART fixes to allow the usage of previously incompatible apps at install time, however there are some apps which require calls to dalvik specific code(e.g. Titanium Backup which will continue to not work and there's not much I can do till developers update their code)
ROM comes without gapps(obviously),feel free to download the ones you like most.
Install instructions for EXT4:
Reboot to recovery
Make a backup
Flash my rom
Flash gapps if you want
Reboot and enjoy
If rom gets stuck at boot(or crashes without a reason),
Reboot to recovery(hint: hold power button for 10 seconds and phone will reboot)
Do a factory reset
Reboot and enjoy
Install instructions for F2FS:
Nothing to see here,yet.
Download:
Beta 1.0
Nightlies:

For more infos go to linaro site
I plan to build builds almost daily(Only if there are relevant changes and if I have time to build)
I accept any feature request, both for rom and kernel(and I'm open to switch to any kernel you might want,as long as a majority requests it)
Source code
Source code which isn't 100% linaro will be on LinaroDroid github account

You should provide a log to help the dev out :good:
If I may ask, what is your philosophy with this ROM? Since you take all feature requests, do you intend on it branching far from the AOSP experience over time with heavy features? Or are you shooting for a simple and stable linaro optimized AOSP build? Only reason I ask is that I am extremely interested in the latter and would probably make this my daily driver :good: Either way, thanks for bringing this to us!!
::EDIT::
By the way, if you are looking for a custom kernel, might I recommend giving a shout to the maker of Bricked kernel. His kernel has linaro optimizations as well and is stable as hell.
You don't say...I'm at work. Flashed on a break, reverted to my backup so I'd have use of a phone.
Another tester (and me) had no issues with settings.. Tried WiFi,bluetooth and more..
Did you do a factory reset?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 5 utilizzando Tapatalk
Already fixed the issue. Cleaning up the files I normally pull out of zips I deleted NFC. Problem solved. Also running with the linaro Franco and moto dalvik patches!

By the way, if you are looking for a custom kernel, might I recommend giving a shout to the maker of Bricked kernel. His kernel has linaro optimizations as well and is stable as hell.

Since Linaro usually sticks to AOSP and just optimizes, most of the users would find 0 reasons to switch over from stock to this, instead,by adding some features(not the heavily bloated ones) I want to give you more reasons to try this..
Due to the speed of this phone on stock,I really doubt I can increase in any way its speed to be really noticeable
I will check kernels tomorrow after doing something interesting to the build(hint: https://lwn.net/Articles/518718/ )

That's the one. This ROM is very quick and extremely light with no additional garbage added. Just the way I like it.

About
I'm posting this so I quit posting in other people's threads. It's my personal Carbon Rom builds that I build with SaberMod. I'll be adding other features to the builds from time to time and I'll try and keep the list up to date. I hope you enjoy the builds as much as I do. Also Carbon Update works with my builds so you can always update to the new build using CarbonDelta under Settings > About. I'll try and answer questions and help people out as much as I can but I don't guarantee anything(sorry, I work a lot).
Features
CarbonDelta - Just changed source to use my server.
No more having to download 200MB when you want to update.

If anyone would like a copy of my sources please send me you're address and I will send you a Blu-Ray disc with them on it. I can't afford the bandwidth to upload so much code so this is the only way it can be done at this time.
Any changes to stock code was taken from Mahdi, Slim and Chet Kener. The code is available from the links I've posted above.
Thanks to: The Carbon Team, SaberMod, Cl3kener and everyone who uses my builds.
First, and ready to flash! Also what kernel do you recommend?
Sabermod guess I need to read up on it. But I use blur a lot from Google camera and I heard that linaro or sabermod doesn't work well. Could be wrong ?
Thank you for sharing
Thank you !
I prefer SuperSU all the way, so thanks for the possibility to get that into settings
Would you consider adding PA volume style?
Gonna flash this right now !
I hope u will continue to update Mahdi, was running your 15/08 build, very smooth with code blue kernel

ROMs have a kernel included for a reason.
To be honest I recommend Uber Kernel. I use the Sabermod FrancoSound release. And I've tried adding the PA volume style and I just can't get it right. Plus now hover is gone so it won't happen. And I'm gonna keep updating my Mahdi builds too.

Why is Uber Kernel recommend?
Also, will we have to reflash the Kernel after the ROM update (about the delta updates, the little ones, not full ROM)?

v4.8 or over in linaro & sabermod breaks lens blur. as @xanaxdroid is using 4.7.4 from what I can gather, its fine

As of now it's slim but I might be changing that. I haven't decided yet. I don't know if people would want Uber as the default.

Yeah I'm still using 4.7. It works great in my opinion so I'll probably keep using it for the time being.

its the tool chain which stops from lens blur working and giving FC. 4.7 tool chain does allow to use lens blur post 4.7 rest doesn't support
New build is up.

I just think Uber is the best kernel to go with these builds. It's fast and battery friendly. And if you put your kernel in /sdcard/CarbonDelta/FlashAfterUpdate it will flash after you update.

Just flashed this and it seems to be running great. The only of thing was I didn't get the automatic play store sync after I flashed. I had to do it app by app. I was planning on switching to uber after giving stock a go for a day or two, but I'll go ahead and flash uber now instead. Since you've included SuperSU access in settings, is it necessary to put that in the FAU folder as well now? Thanks for your work.

not yet, not sure what theme engine they plan to implement (if any)
EDIT: ive been using this rom for a day now but sadly just realized video playback is buggy. I'll be working on finding a fix for the rest of tonight and tomorrow, hopefully I can get it fixed ASAP. If anybody would like to help you could send me a logcat while trying to play a video in any app where video doesn't play.
If I'm not mistaken, when I was on Carbon for the m8 they were using Layers before the Substratum change. I've downloaded the ROM here, but I'll wait til you get the fixes.

I would like to help, but:
1. I'm rooted, but Titanium backup does not have root.
2. There is no sound in the rom. Music, videos, etc.
Are you experiencing the same?
Damn I thought carbon was dead
Nice to see CarbonRom again! Thanks!

SuperSU works fine, I personally restored all my apps with it
But yea something went wrong with the build and audio/video doesn't work. My assumption is its because I used CM device sources (obviously modified them to get the build booting) for an aosp ROM. I've spent the whole night night cherry-picking various commits trying to get it fixed but so far no luck, right now I'm starting from scratch with Omni's angler sources (which are aosp) so hopefully this works.

Cool! Omni has good battery life. I'll be one of the first to test it.
