Hi im new to the x10 community and i have aquestion regarding the boot loader. Ok so first i got an x10 recently from japan (s0-01b) that was locked to docomo. So i had its network unlocked from one of the cellphone repair shops here. Now im trying to unlock the bootloader but in s1tool it says did not recognize sim lock certificate but its unlocked. So my question is:
1. Can i still unlock my bootloader safely?
2. So im such a hard headed person and i proceeeded with the bl unlock anyways, can i still relock my bootloader so that the problems go away?
3. Is there another way to unlock my bootloader safley??
Thanks guys for your answers )

Read and be careful, because your phone is already sim-unlocked by unknown software.
If you not sure about it leave it locked. There are good custom Roms and kernels for locked bootloader like DonutHD 2.2.9 Rom, and ThJap th5-1 kernel.

Just first Root your phone with Flashtool (download and install on PC from herehttp://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1353430259000
And install Xrecovery on your phone also with Flashtool.
Guide how to do that things read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19684846&postcount=2
And in for unlocking the bootloader choose the one that is for those whose phone has been debranded or it was unlocked in the past

I have a Rogers branded x10 that I'm currently using with Fido. I'm interested in updating to the newest firmware, but I want to ensure that I don't lose my SIM unlock in the process.
Can someone please confirm?
No it won't.
I presume that you have unlocked it by code.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes it's by code, I sent my IMEI to this website and they provided me with a code.
once you are unlocked it wont relock, even if you root or flash different roms

Hmmm......well I'm not too sure but I think you should ask him. But if you use flashtools to unlock it it should be fine according to me. But ask him or wait for someone who knows for sure.

there are two types of unlock.
1) sim unlocking to use different network carriers
2) bootloader unlocking - to use different custom kernel nd roms for unlocked bootloader
as for sim unlocking, once you do it, it will not relock whatever you do
if you are planning to unlock your bootloader be sure that you have SETOOL sim certificate or SEMC sim certificate as stated in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19685019&postcount=7
hey, just wanting to clarify things before i start messing around with flashing. I want to install a custom rom, so ive read guides on rooting and installing recovery, as well as unlocking the bootloader. now i just want to know, if i am rooted and have recovery installed, do i also need to unlock the bootloaders to flash a new rom in recovery, or is that enough to do it. thanks for any feedback
-edit: i noticed looking at the custom roms, it specifies in the topic whether it is for a locked or unlocked bootloader.. so im guessing i just have to choose whether i want to unlock it or lock it depending on the rom i want
That is enough you don't need to unlock bl just be sure to flash a Rom for locked bl

1. unlock from Three, then you can unlock bootloader, there's no other way
2. no, only official roms (GB or ICS)
Mine problem was this but i didn't have it sim locked. Your rooting status says that bootloader unlock is not allowed. So there is a way but it costs money to get it unlocked. Its paid, you cant get it free. So on wotanserver.com it 15 euro. And mine was unlocked by Jinx13(add him to skype). His fee is 15 gbp. Your choice. Its done competly remotly so you probably can unlock it is tonight. Pay pal is preferred

Hi!
I've got a problem with unlocking my XPERIA U. It has Orange branded firmware, Android 2.3.7, and I'd like to change it to for example ICS. I wanted to unlock my bootloader, but I can see a message: Bootloader unlock allowed: No.
Is there any possibility to unlock it, or not? And why this phone has no possibility to do it?
Regards,
linoskoczek
Unlock = debrand? If yes, just flash stock ROM 1.54 or 1.75 with flashtool.
You can make branded ftf backup before flashing, just in case.
BTW why do u want to unlock bootloader?
Odp: [Q] Not possible to unlock phone - is there anyother method to do it?
No, you can't unlock your phone. Probably you have simlock and locked bl by operator(Orange). But you can flash fw without Orange apps etc. Just go to development section and download latest ICS fw.

Ahh that ****ty orange...
I've flashed it to ICS, but still unlocking is not possible. Anyway, do you think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 will root the phone? It's just a one thing I can do without unlocking xperia.

I think the only thing you can't do in SXP with locked bootloader is flashing custom kernel. So, the answer is yes, you can root the phone without unlocking bootloader as well as e.g. install CWM recovery.
Xperia RAY
Currently running Gingerbread 2.3.4
My phone is locked to the network o2UK and the bootloader is set to LOCKED
I've tried to unlock the bootloader but in the services menu it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: NO'
My question is, how would i get the bootloader unlocked or are there any 'work arounds' to get root
Thanks!
okay, first... rooting n unlocking bootloader isn't same... root can be done to locked, unlocked, bootloader status : no and bootloader status : yes...

Yes, and in the time it took to write your thread you could have found them by googling or browsing the general section.
