Hello guys
I like the "BatteryFullNotification" option on stock MOTO ICS rom, it helps me to avoid over charging
But one question, the notification is too short and i cant hear that sound during the night and cause over charging
I want to modify it to use "ringtones" as the alert instead of using "notification sounds" and also alerts at 100% battery instead of 95%
How can i do? I cant find any tutorial in the forum
Thanks.

Over charging ?
Sorry for asking, but is the first time when I hear something like that .
Can you elaborate about that?

Download Full Battery Alarm(there are few more ) from google play ... .
You cant overcharge, theres a ship that controls the current to charge, and after 90% I think, it trickle charges till 100%, and once that it reached it will just run the phone off the charger power and not touch the battery power until unplugged.

Greg , the answer to that question is not that straight forward , when you study the life cycle of a battery you might want to take back your words, the cut off chip is just a small part of it when you consider it on a long run ...
Let me put it in a simple line , the most stressful portion of the charge happens from 90 to 100% , this causes a shrinking effect[ reducing the safe charge holding capacity] in a battery each time it undergoes it , and the longer you leave it in a 100% charge state the faster it ages.
FoxKat has given an eloborate description of the same here , you may want to read this , it might change your view :

I plugged in my to charge my phone at near 25%. I let it charge till 100 and used the battery recalibrate tool. Once I removed the charger the meter went down to 49% ....lost 51% just like that.
Guys please help.
I seem to say this a lot, but we need more information. What ROM you're on, how old your battery is, what kernel you're using, is it a stock or OEM battery, is it an eBay battery of questionable quality, are you using any battery mods, what voltage settings it showed when you reached 100% charge on the charger, are using the stock charging cable with wall charger or a 3rd-party USB cable or charging from a computer or PS3 usb slot, etc etc etc...
With what information we have so far, try bump charging.
I on phillipe97's Juwe's port with bullet kernel. The phone was bought in March 2011, never changed. No battey mods. Not sure of the voltage it showed when it reached 100% Stock wall charger
What is bump charging?
That's really strange. Are you running a gingerbread rom? I know gb roms have a problem with the battery draining after charging to full even with it still plugged in.

Bump charging is charging your phone to 100% with it on, then turning the phone off and charging it again to 100%, then turning it back on and doing the same until it stays full when you unplug it.

Darn it, LazyB! You're too kind! I deliberately didn't explain bump charging because I knew the OP would be too lazy to do a simple Google search, so when he came back to the thread with some badly worded and not particularly useful response that contained, "What is bump charging?" I could say "OMFG Google it you twit!" and then link him to something like
http://justfuckinggoogleit.com/
or maybe
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=bump+charging
But no! You had to be all nice and altruistic and ruin all my fun!

Haha sorry I must admit I've been jumping on the noob threads being overly nice to try to help to get my post count up to 100. I'm only about 10 away. I'm a firm believer in researching and reading, reading, and more reading. I lurked on here for months before posting anything. The info is just so readily available for anyone willing to do a simple search. Sorry to steal your thunder there though.

So, after I get it to stay 100% when I unplug it will I have to keep doing this everytime I charge my phone or will the problem be solved?
Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

but download the app first
Thanks, i tried it todsy but it says root needed.
I have a stock rom. and i dont want to change the rom before my warranty period gets over.

If not brother provide me the link here.
Hi
I just flashed CM7.2 yesterday. I noticed (well to be precise, and thats the problem, i did not) that if battery says 100% its still loading. Well this is also normal for stock rom, so i thought give it some time. but its loading like nearly forever at 100%
I also read some of the calibrating threads but dont want to ruin my batt by bumpcharging
Is this normal? Is there a notification (like the stock "Battery is fully loaded" or whatever its in english) anyway? as i type its still loading. 4hrs now
its normal. the full battery charge notification is touchwiz thing, cm rom doesnt have it.
use thirdparty battery app from market. some of them got full battery charge notification.
you can tell when the battery full when the battery charging icon goes and is replaced by a normal icon.
It will show 'full' instead of 'charged' in about phone.
This is when touchwiz displays the notification.

Cyanogenmod does not have battery notification. You can simply watch the icon if it show the normal battery symbol its fully charged.
IMHO that notification is pretty anoying when you charge your phone a night beside you bed ;-)
Use app- Battery HD
It's works great for me. Will give you all the necessary information.
You can also choose a setting in which the phone 'speaks' (in a robotic woman's voice) when the battery is fully charged.
Totally sweet!

I use this. Battery Full Notification
some app just notify you when the battery is reach the 100% not when fully charged.
this app just work great.
just set and forget.
I will try the Battery Full Notification. seems to be very small app. dont want to run too much useless (well...saves me from 4 clicks) stuff in background.
But now that i know its a "feature" im calmed. thought it might be my batt

Well the title says it all, I was charging my phone and was playing prototype in the computer (unrelevant data ) but it was like 97% of battery, the screen its always on (since i plug it when it has 30%), and i say ok ok 3% more to go, and start to play again , later when i get a message of a friend, take the cellphone and the battery was at 84% so I think it reaches 100% and then (it was still obviusly plugged, and the screen never turns off) it starts to discharge so quickly... somebody are gettin this type of behavior too??? its like the fifth time that happen to me.... or at least i notice that....looks like its a random behavior
I have ICS 4.0.4 but when i have GB happen that too

You might be better off asking in here aswell considering that whole thread is about Xperia S battery life.
I have exactly the same problem pretty much all the time. Most of the time I can kind of understand it because I'm a really heavy user of my phone and will normally be playing music, while texting away, being on here and playing a game such as Modern Combat 3 all at the same time.
But even if I'm only using XDA for example, the battery will still start going down while I'm charging. It'll go from full to approx 80% and stay around that mark.
This is one of the many reasons I'm really tempted to get rid of this phone and get the SGS2 instead #_-

, well I try to search if someone say already something about that, but in a quick view dont found anything , as I understand you were playing and doing other stuff while you were charging the phone, well that happens to me too, it starts to discharge... even if its plugged, specially with games like "Shadowgun" (a very good game BTW ), doing other stuff I dont have this problem, the only thing its that the charge only take more time...
I think that if you only use XDA app dont happen that, only the charge will be too slow... anyway there is a problem there... but the thing its that im not doing anything and it takes charge to 100% and then starts to discharge doing nothing! did that happen to you?
My sister have a Galaxy SII, its pretty good too, the only thing is that the UI of Samsung its so ugly , but the good thing is that there are more dev's and more ROM's to change in the SII that in XPS

BTW dont notice that with this post i become a member :good: :victory: :silly: :highfive: (another useless data :angel
Yeah even if I'm just using XDA it takes a lot longer to charge than it should do and I know for a fact there's not a problem with my charger because it charges my brother's S2 brilliantly.
And yes mine has the same problem with draining when doing nothing. Battery drain while idle has always been a hot talking point since this phone was released really and it doesn't seem to have gotten too much better than it was to start with.
Not gonna lie though, if I knew about this phones problems when I got it, I would've probably gone for the S2 instead.

why on earth u keep the screen on while charging? it's the biggest drainer. try using battery monitor widget to see the current that coming or going to ur phone.
when the screen on and data on (3G only) my SXS discharge at 250-760 mA if u have 0.75 A charger or 0.85 A charger it's over the discharging current, so it'll discharge. and dont forget that once the phone get above 90% it'll lower it's current input. so with the screen on and ur phone's above 90% u'll discharge faster.
when u in 84% u'll get the current again only when u re-plugged the charger.
IMO, u better turn the screen off, data off while charging. i use EP850 charger (rate 1.5A), with data off i got charging current bout 1200 mA and got lower to 500 mA when hit 90% (it only take bout 1 hour from below 10% battery, did SGS2 can do this ). i rarely charge to 100%.

LOL, well a old practice since I have android, always leave the screen on , i dont know I like to see the screen on while I'm charging, can see the hour and the notificactions I have without even touch it , never had a problem, but I see that I have to change that habit I dont want to know how many time will take charge it via USB, like 5 hours I think
Well thanks for helping me with this doubt :highfive:
Hi,
I feel that my battery is going bad after about 8 months of usage. I'm not sure if i still have the warranty (it was bought in different country).
I changed to fully stock rom but it's the same.
It get's fully drained in about 8-10h. Light usage. Even with all the stamina mode/low brightness etc...
The worst thing is that when it's down to about 30% or less, it starts acting up. The % would drop to 0% and the phone would turn off, then after i would turn on the phone again, i would see 70%, then 22%, then 30% again, something like that. After that it might "hold" and work for a few more hours or it might just keep on turning itself OFF.
What the hell is wrong with it...?

You open it up search for Xperia P service manual.
Maybe it's not the battery just the stats? How long do you charge it?
hi, thanks for your answer
i charge the phone overnight and in the evenings
from 7am, until 16:00 it is almost empty with virtually no usage since i'm at work...
sometimes i need to charge it couple of times a day if i use it frequently
battery stats have been deleted, new rom and all...don't know what more to do

For Less battery, go for Custom ROMs
I don't find this kind of drain now.. I felt it in my previous ICS. Now am in Enigma 6.1. This ROM has some mod, which will makes the phone enter in to deep sleep mode after 5 minutes. This makes it more battery friendly....
MoonBreaker v3.5 also a good choice.
sorry guys, i forgot to post my results, i will try to get that info by tomorrow
Anyway, i found this on ebay and i'm thinking on giving it a try. Do you recommend i buy somewhere else? Is there a more quality product out there?
I also found a dissasembly video on youtube how to get to the battery and it doesn't seem that hard + the battery on ebay comes with all the needed screws which is nice.
I have tried 5+ roms and none of them changed anything.
But something troubles me...i spoke with a guy from the Sony repair shop and he says that it's not necessarily the battery, it might also be a problem with the motherboard.
I do not have the warranty anymore so motherboard would be the worst option. Phone works normally though...
I hope some results from the mentioned apps might shed some light on this.
HI
Why dont you try DU Battery App , it will help you to charge it fully. What i observed is that even though the battery status will show as 100 % but when you check Setting --> About phone --> Status --> Battery status it will still be showing charging & if i keep it plugged in for another hour or so it turns to battery status --> Full. So using this App DU Battery you will be able to actually fully charge the battery . Also if you try a custom rom with custom kernel like nemesis 6.3 you will be able to change the cpu govorner settings and can save more battery.
thanks, i'll check it out
i have locked BL so no possibility for custom kernel
