[Q] How to transfer files? - HTC Droid DNA

How do you transfer files from old SD card to DNA? I have the contents I want ready to be transferred but the DNA does not show as a drive on my machine.

Once Windows sets up the drivers automatically it will ask you what you want to do with the device... I am using Windows 8 64 bit.... Our you can use websharing app to transfer then over WiFi on the same network

Hmm..it never setup drivers. It just shows two "CD-Rom" drives....one of which is inaccessible and the other is the VZW crap. Restarting...

Ok, I am in business now. Thanks.

It is not going to be a new drive letter, Windows will open up options for you to chose from and one of them is to see the files on the device and do whatever you want with them.
It is not as fast as USB but still ok for most purposes.

It was fast enough for my needs. Just copied pics from my old SD card, that I did not feel like moving to dropbox or the cloud. I rarely plug into a computer....unless i need to transfer some flashable zips, but it looks like that may not be happening in the near term.
Thanks

double post

Ok so Im also trying to figure this out? What are the steps? On my Inc2 a box just popped up on the phone screen asking me what I wanted to do. Could someone just tell us the steps they used?
Nevermind... So stupid it shows up as a devices in my computer...

I am still not able to install HTC drivers unto my laptop. When I open HTC Sync Manager and try to let the drivers install automatically it says there's an error. And I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Windows 8. Has anyone had any success transferring files to your phone?

[Q] What about the "ICON PACKS"???

I' m getting prety angry to tell you the truth!!! I really don't want to bother users to explain the same thing over and over again, but it seems in general, almost no one "TAGS" their questions!!!
I' ve been spending most of the time searching for the answers to some very basic questions and I just cannot believe people get anything done thru search results to the most of their problems. I like to think of myself as far from being stupid and unresourceful and yet I' ve had it with spending so much time looking for solutions!!!
Those of you who know what you are doing are getting it done. Those of us who are yet learning are doing it by trial and mistake, or what??! Well, I for one am not like that! I like to know all the facts and the theory before I do something!
So, to get to the chase...
Please answer me this:
- When I dl. an ICON PACK in a .ZIP format, file, where to put that or what to do with it, before using the icons with ie. Folder Organiser? (there are .PNG files in the folder...)
I get the part on how to change the icons, but no one explains on the above. In plain and simple english, the answer please?
So for the future enthusiasts, let this be a first for all the "noobs" to find the simple and direct answer to the problem! I'll even tag it correctly...
Thank you for understanding and for your help.
I already answered your other question so stop whining. Just extract the zip to your sd card. And then you can select the icons using whatever app.

DON'T BOTHER WITH ANSWERING...
After some more wasted time, I've managed to find this, And just as in all the other cases the answer came in a topic related to my issue, yet a stumbled upon it by accident and not by searching the forum... That's why so much time gets wasted! So many people and no one seems to be bothered by the logistics. Do you acctually realize how hard it is to help ourselves with the thing which is acctually created to be helpfull??!!
Anyways... Here is the solution for all you noobs. Hope this spares you some time...
(1) Download some Icons from the Market. Search the Market for "Icons" and "Icon Packs", most are free and will install on your phone. Most Icon Packs will say you need Bettercut or Open Home to use them, ignore this - they work just fine with FolderOrganizer (and any other app that can change icons)
(2) Optional - Download some icons from the internet. The best way to get icons from the internet to your phone is using a PC and transferring them to your SD card by USB. To do this, create a new folder on your PC called "Icons" or whatever you want to call it. You can create a new folder with a different name for each set of icons you download, which makes them easier to find later. Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable and select "Disk Drive". Open your SD card on your PC using Explorer and copy your Icons folder to the SD card (don't put it inside an existing folder on your SD card, just add it to the top level directory). When the copy is complete, unplug the USB cable and the phone will scan the SD card and find your new icons. (Note: an alternative method is to connect your phone to your PC as a Disk Drive before you start, create a new icons folder on your SD card and download the icons directly to your SD card - just select the icon folder on the SD card as the save location)
...and here is the link to the whole guide...

BTW, I'm not angry at anyone, just the way the world operates... Ufff...
Sorry 'Kev!!! A thousand APPOLOGIES... Did not refresh the page so I've missed the answer... In general, I was pissed by the amount of time spent for such a minor problem... Otherwise I'm not such a nag.
Thanks anyway.

How do I save a corrupted picture that still shows on wallpaper?

Hey guys I was editing my picture with a photo editior on the phone and when I saved it, it somewhat corrupted it which will not allow me to view it however the wallpaper, which I set it under, still shows the picture... is the picture stored in a cache ? is there a way how I can grab it from registry?
Hey guys which thread consists of alot of views on XDA? no one talks about touch pro and all these old phones... just views no comments... =(
Sorry, I usually wait for others to post about these things before I formulate an opinion, much less voice it.
I don't know for sure if this will help but can you open the picture on your computer? Basically, copy the corrupted picture to your microSD and use an adapter that works and attempt to open the picture up on your computer.

I have the corrupted picture , but when I try to open it says it can not open it and its 0kb...I want to know if its like a computer, where sometimes I delete the wallpaper picture but still using it and for me to actually get it I have to go to the windows folder and find it to copy it.. however there isn't much in the windows on the windows mobile.
But thank you R^7z, I never hear from anyone here... its the only forums that never speaks.. seriously!
I'm not sure about this but I think PPCGeeks may have a louder CDMA RAPH fan base. Either that or there seems to be more talking in the newer device forums??? I usually hang out in the RAPH/Android forums when I am on here but occasionally I do browse the newer posts.
Not 100% as to where the actual picture is stored if that is the case. I imagine if this was a stock picture, you could get it back with a hard reset. Additionally, I wonder if the photo editor saves it somewhere?
Well first off I'm glad to see that I had saved it to my computer so I do have back up, but I'll continue my search to where it does save it to... once again thanks r^72. Most forums are talking about newer phones, android espically lol but yeah I post it up on ppcgeeks asweel and got a few info but waiting for tomorrow for more.

[Q] niv database for youversion?

Anyone have the NIV database for the YOUVERSION Bible app? If it follows the naming scheme of the others, it should be something like niv.1.sqlite3 possibly in either
sdcard\.youversion\
or
data\.youversion\
I got it on my old phone when they were offering it as a download, got the atrix, formatted the sd card and now I don't have the database. Anyone who downloaded it during that window willing to post it?
me also. I want the niv .sqlite3 file of YouVersion app. I lost my Nexus One which has the niv offline version. The niv offline version is not available anymore to download it into my Nexus S =(
Anybody here please share the file
Thanks
- Warner
Me, too
I'm also trying to recover my previously downloaded NIV (and NLT) versions. If anyone is willing to share, that would be great.

Me Three
I need the same thing.... I changed SD cards. My old one went bad and I lost everything.
I have both NIV and NLT sqlite3 files from my iPhone but they cause FC when I put them on my Inspire. Any ideas?
If you share the files with me, I'll stick them on my droid and see what happens. ndimmickpublic AT gmail dot com.
monsterofmen, Thanks for sharing those files. I was unable to get them to work on my Moto Droid. I copied them into the the .youversion (hidden) folder on the SD card and could then select them from the bible list. However, the app force closes every time after selecting one of the two bible you provided. I removed the files, and the app works fine again. I don't have any idea what to do next.
Files

No problem. Hopefully someone will figure it out.

I'd love to see the files, maybe we could alter a few things in the headers to get them to work?

I've done a little investigating. It appears that the iPhone files that you guys are passing around are structurally a little different than the Android versions.
The iPhone files doesn't appear to have the verses in two different tables encoded, on the Android those two columns are encoded. I'm not sure how they are encoded though.
btw, If anyone has the Android version of the NLT Bible and wouldn't mind sharing...... Also, Thanks ndim for the file.
Hey, do you know if the niv.db would work on the blackberry? Could you please allow me to try them to find out? [email protected].... Thanks!!
If anyone would be as kind to share the android db with me [email protected] i would like to try
I still only have the iPhone versions of the NIV an NLT. I would love to get the Android versions, too. ndimmickpublic AT gmail.com.
So, Has anyone successfully added the iPhone files back to the YouVersion Bible app? Version 3.5?
I was able to open the app on my mac, but I don't see any sqlite files. If someone could shed some light on it, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
For iPad?
I would like to try it on my ipad2. If someone can pass me that file I can give it a try.

Thanks in advance
I've emailed you the links.

[Q] myRemote & W8

I know this is the wrong forum, but I have only just joined so cant ask in the correct forum..
I've got W8 running on my Tranquil PC which is hooked up to my TV, I was going to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse but found the "myRemote" app, it works a treat but it does not start until I log in and double click the short cut on the desktop. Which means I have to plug in my USB keyboard to log in etc instead of being able to sit my arse on the sofa whilst fiddling with my phone.
So.. How do I get the program to start during boot up, bearing in mind it needs the desktop to run properly!?!?!!
Thank you in advance, and sorry its in the wrong forum (my phone is a nice shiny HTC Desire X though..)

This should be in the off topic section of the xda forum. (my favorite section of the forum! )
Anyways, in your myremote app on the pc find a menu to start on boot or something. Or you can use a startup editor cuz win8 has no start menu to put it in start>all programs>startup. There should be a option in the myremote app on the pc to start as a system process. If not, use teamviewer.

No Thumbnails in Windows Explorer

So I've noticed that if I try viewing the pictures from my Note 2 in Windows Explorer while I have my phone plugged into my computer via USB, I'm not able to see thumbnails of the pictures.
I'm forced to either look at them one by one, or copy them to my computer to view them.
Anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? I did some research and some people suggested installing Samsung Kies. Well, I did that, and I guess that since I'm running a custom ROM (Eclipse), Kies says that the device plugged in is not compatible.
Can anyone help?

I get this as well, but to add to this.
The Kies software that you install on the computer does not work on stock verizon note 2s either, it will only work on international versions that don't have carrier customization.
Have you tried using the Kies app on your phone? If your ROM has it, go to your apps list and look for Kies, start it up and it'll tell you an ip address to type into the web browser on your computer, do that and you can view and download the images off your phone using wifi.
