Hmmm... maybe you can try to flash another recovery. Or gingerbread kernel since the recovery is part of the kernel for galaxy s phones. Try flashing it without manually going to recovery and doing it. Like the sgs kernel flasher on the play store might work. Not sure if it does on non stock roms maybe you could try it out.
There also some kernel.tar files you can flash in Odin. BTW, this is vibrant forms not i9000 but none the less a .tar is a good option.

Of course you're going to have issues with buttons... Its a different button key-mapping... -.- If I were you, I'd odin back to stock and flash A CORRECT VIBRANT ROM, instead of an i9000 one. I assure you, by flashing an i9000 ROM on the Vibrant, you're going to have quite a bit of issues.
You can buy or make a DL jig to get in DL mode. They sell them here

I bought this from Sky Mall.

Hi
I been reading the threads on Villan Rom
I waited in Kies and no figured out even my unbranded SGS2 be updated.
NO idea Why.
I want to move to VillainRom
MY specs are below
Code:
Product Code: GT-I9100LKADBT (From RegEdit)
PDA: I9100XWKE2
Phone: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: I9100OXXKE2
Baseband: I9100XXKDJ
I have rooted already with S2 root 1.0 and don't think I have CW installed.
1. Do i need CW? that means do i need to root again using CR-Root 4.0?
2. My Phone is KE2 and the villianRom is XXKF2 how will this work? i downloaded the signed zip file
3. What's with updating the modem?
I also got my USB jig just incase if i had to return back, can just insert the Jig erase all data and give it to Samsung. But only thing is I cannot go back to KE2 instead I need KF2 stock rom right just in case
Thank you

Ofcourse you need CW Root.. if not you cant flash anyrom.. For Flashing any Custom ROM rooting is Required.. So that you can go to Recovery after u flashed CW thru ODIN.

If your rooted then I am assuming you know how to work Odin and I would just do a search on here or google for the right modem and flash with Odin.

Go here. Then find the proper modem for the version of android you are on and you can use Odin to flash. Good luck and please use the search function.

The baseband is the modem. You are on gingerbread, so flash any of the gingerbread modems in the area I mentioned.

Holy crap! What is so terrible with the stock ROM that you couldn't even go a week with it before having to flash something? What the hell is wrong with people?
Lol. Glad to hear you phone is up and running properly again.
I'm about to get my SGSII in about an hour and the first thing I plan to do is flash the Siyah kernel through odin and gain root. Is there a way to backup the stock kernel without root before I flash this one?
Thanks in advance.
you dont need to backup the original stock kernel. you can download it anytime, just use the search function. i recommend flashing a matching stock rooted kernel for your firmware, then perform traingle away and then flash siyah from cwm.

OK, thanks for the good advice. I will definitely go that route since this is the first SGSII I've owned and you would know better than I do. Just for the record if I did it my way would it have bricked my phone?

After getting your galaxy s2,
First thing is to Post your firmware details here; Goto Settings - About phone, and post everything you see.
You might not need to flash any kernel at the end the day.
Happy Independence Day!
OK just got the phone and they didn't send it with a battery...
Anyway here is the info
Model Number: SGH-T989
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: T989UVLH1
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: IMM76D.UVLH1
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks!

Good.
1. Your device is T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy SII.
2. Flashing anything meant for GT I9100X including Siyah kernel will destroy your phone.
3. Visit the right forum for your phone, and continue from there: forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329
Consider yourself very lucky!
Don't flash Siyah kernel at all
Happy Independence Day!
Wow thank you for saving me. Didn't realize there was a subforum for my phone. I definitely owe you one.

ok look i highly doubt there's a way to reset the flash log unless you reflash the kernel(1/10 chance) which worked for mine, but every s2 is different, so check is u have installed the right kernel with the right rom and then try the jig, there's no other way i know.
Best of luck:good:

Hey guys,
It's been absolutely ages since I've done anything to my phone and kind of lost all my abilities to do so aswell. I'm getting my SIII next week and will give my SII to my dad. However I would like to have it running on just everything stock.
Currently still running on:
Android: 2.3.4
baseband: i9100XXKDJ
Kernel: [email protected] #Supercore_1.4 (I know old school)
build: DarkyRom2 XXKG2 ODEXED BASE R3
My question is if you guys could give me a little push in the right way. I have absolutely no clue on how to get back to stock kernel + rom
So please help. Thnx in advance

edit: I did do some research but didn't bring me any information :S (bad searcher aswell I must say)
