1. Does relocking the boot loader via fastboot wipe user data?
2. Are HTC OTA Updates via Handset working in an unlocked bootloader state?
Thank you!

1) No. but if you have a custom rom or recovery, device will not boot.
2) No!! People have bricked devices in the past trying to OTA with an unlocked bootloader.

What exactly are the steps to get OTA updates again? I now have it unlocked and rooted (therefore different boot.img as far as I know?).
Steps back:
1) Relock bootloader
2) Push original boot.img via adb
3) install original RUU
Is that correct?
Thanks!
Your ok just relocking bootloader, then flashing a stock ruu from fastboot. It will overwrite custom kernel.

Currently rooted on 4.5.141, but pretty frightened of attempting to unlock the bootloader without reverting to an earlier firmware. Is there a proven method for unlocking the bootloader without downgrading?

So I got my 2.3.6 finally rooted, but now I'm having trouble pushing Cwm onto the device. I tried erasing the current recovery using moto-fastboot erase recovery and overwriting the current recovery via moto-fasboot recovery recovery.img with fail's both times. My last attempt was install Rom Manager and trying to auto install the recovery from there. It said it successfull installed, but when I attempt to boot into recovery I just get:
Failed to boot 2
Starting RSD mode
(hanging)
Any suggestions?

You rooted, but did you unlock your bootloader? If you have a locked bootloader, CWM will softbrick your phone IIRC.

I used these commands to gain root, but now that I look at it I'm not seeing anything that would unlock the bootloader for partitioning:
C:/moto-fastboot-win32
moto-fastboot.exe flash preinstall preinstall.img
“/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system”
“cp /preinstall/su /system/bin/”
“chmod 6755 /system/bin/su”
“PATH=/system/bin:$PATH pm install /preinstall/Superuser.apk”

yes follow the steps on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017525
(1) Flash RUU
(2) Turn Phone Completely Off
(3) Hold Volume Down Key and Power to Restart to Fastboot
(4) Reflash your Unlock Token (the original one sent from HTC during initial Unlock)
(5) Enter "Yes" at Unlock Warning - System will not Restart
(6) After Restart, Shut Phone Down Completely Again
(7) Reboot into Fastboot and Check your Lock Status - Should now say "Unlocked"
(8) Flash Unlocked Kernel & Recovery Again
(9) Profit
I was trying to unroot my HTC One by relocking the bootloader then through SuperSU, However, I don't have TWRP anymore and I don't want to unlock the bootloader again with some form of recovery. (I have S-On)
Any suggestions to get recovery back?

So you unrooted it with a custom recovery and then relocked your boot loader? Or did you just have root. Are you trying to reroot?

So when I unlock the bootloader again, I would have to flash TWRP/CWM, then flash a ROM in order to get an OS back?
That's it

I have a rooted HTC One with a locked bootloader that I would like to unroot back to stock. I had TWRP as a custom recovery before I relocked the bootloader, but cannot use that now because of my locked bootloader. If I unlock the bootloader again, would I have any form of recovery or a ROM?

Hi guys,
I got a bootloader unlocked ANE-LX2J and I want to lock it again but I dont know the next step.
I still have the bootloader unlock code and already flashed FULL OTA using TWRP and did factory reset.
So now, my P20 Lite is running pure stock again and ready to be locked right? or still not lol :silly:
Based on what I read here, after relocking bootloader using fastboot oem relock command, the warning/alert that shows when the device is booting is still there and I want to get rid of it.
Thanks :highfive:

Yes, you're ok to relock your bootloader if all partition and recovery are stock and your device is working without issues. After relock the recovery will do Factory Data Reset and no more warnings "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted"
Boot into Fastboot&Rescue Mode and use this command:
Code:
fastboot oem relock [I][B]yourcode[/B][/I]
Then you enter into Lock Bootloader menu and just follow the instructions.
YES -
NO -

Does the Lock Bootloader menu will automatically show after relock command? I'll give it a shot later. Thanks :highfive:
