1. Unlocking the bootloader lets you flash custom ROMs. It is not the same as having root access. You need to install a super user program to have root.
2. Unlocking the bootloader will do a factory reset and you will loose all the programs and data you currently have installed. However, it doesn't affect what is installed on your external sdcard.

Live Walkman Bootloader Unlock : No

Hi guys So from a time now I wanted to install CM in my Live Walkman. But what's my surprise when it says "Unlock Bootloader: No". I searched through multiple webpages and found two solutions: paying for a wotanserver (wich I can't pay), or by someone doing it remotely I think. Does anyone hava a different solution or help me remotely unlocking it?
Model: 12w17
Current Firm: 4.0.4 custom (but not that good )
Rooted: Yes
Carrier: TMN (portuguese)
And obviously, factory kernel
Thanks in advance
Just to be honest - Stock rom is actually better than custom rom
Anyway, you can't unlock your bootloader even using testpoint since the date of your device is morn than requirement date to unlock bootloader

No CyanogenMod for you, unfortunately. This requires unlocked bootloader, however your phone is one of those unlucky ones, which do not have any unlocking possibility at all. At least for now.
Oh ok then But if I go SIM unlock it at the carrier won't it then say Unlock : Yes? If yes, I could do that
Oh, and my stock is filled with trash and slow by default, so I went to a custom, more clean one
U can root Your device and uninstall all apps from Your carrier (which are installed to system partition by default). It should increase performacne a little bit.

We can't promise anything, because it could be fastboot will still remain disabled. You could try it, but I guess it won't work
Nah,sim unlock =/= bootloader unlock allowed : yes or bootloader unlocked

Oh ok then, I suppose I'm doomed until I get a new phone. Dang, I really wanted to try Jelly Bean

Bootloader unlock allowed: no

Anything to do now? Or is there any way to root the phone in this state? If i unlock the bootloader the bootloader state changes to unavaliable. Any solutions?

Do you have any idea if rooting without unlocked bootloader is possible at all on any android phone model ? If so, do you think we can expect this to become possible ?
Thanks.

Have a read of this thread. I've used it to root my phone with a locked bootloader.

Sorry for bad english. I'm french. It's Google translation :
My unlockable bootloader is originally but after updating the latest firmware in French, I had the message bootloader unlock: no.
Here is how I did it:
Essential step: save your data!
First I registered on myXperia from the French ROM (essential procedure).
With Flashtool Then, I flashed the rom E2363 26.1.B.2.102 (India Generic) downloaded from XperiFirm.
Make a full wipe when flash
When the flash is done, restart the smartphone (that is long enough, the first loading)
Log MyXPeria necessarily with his account to unlock the smartphone. (with this ROM menus and blocks the cell must necessarily be identified)
When done turn off the smartphone.
Flashtool then restart this time flash the ROM last French E2333. (FULL WIPE well)
Miracle: bootloader unlock: yes!
It would be interesting to know whether this manipulation. also works for smartphones including the bootloader was not releasing mechanism behind!
