Green screen camera - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have a problem with the camera on my prime and am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Whenever I go to the camera and use the back facing camera it just shows a green and red fuzzy screen, ffc works fine. Have wiped and reflashed and even changed ROMs, but no help, I am on androwook hb1.4 right now, was on the red virus ww .15 when it started. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It is maybe a hardware issue. Please search in this forum or Q&A forum for this issue. It has been reported a few times.

OK I'll try and take it to best buy first, that's where I purchased it. Correct me if im wrong but the prime was recalled right? I've read other posts of people being upgraded and so forth, was wondering what they do about unlocked primes?

The same thing happened to my Prime soon after I got mine back in January. There is a quick, but temporary fix to the problem -- you have to squeeze area right below camera lens. You have to press quite hard, so be sure you don't accidentally crack your screen or something. However, like, I said, this is just a temporary fix it WILL come back. I brought mine to a repair center and all they did was take out the camera and re-seat it. That worked for a while, but all it came back again. Then I brought it back, and they replaced the camera entirely, and I've never had a problem since.

Greening Syndrome
Seems the green screen with lines on using rear camera disease is spreading,,,my TF201 has just started misbehaving BUT...it had just returned from a 3 week repair job (under warranty fortunately) to get the screen fixed. The original problem was a wall of alternating black and white and then colour lines when turning on the device,,,which did not disappear. Really very disappointing as I have only had the tablet for 6 months and have not dropped it at all...my first tablet but I'm not impressed with Asus products though to be fair the process for getting it repaired was efficient and prompt even though the actual repair time was long.

Experiencing the same issue myself, only had the tab about a week, and it's still under warranty. RMA since 6/12/12. I'm not really expecting to see it back this side of Christmas.

Green camera issue

Last two days ago, my prime fell off from our bed, my daughter somehow accidentally kicked it. Never thought about checking the camera right away, busy checkin f theres a dent made, fortunately not. However, yesterday, just realized that the camera was busted. Tried to press the back of the prime somehow fixes temporarily, but still it's annoying.... though i am not so fond of using this tablet as a camera, but seems it's incomplete. Should i return this for service or just leave it like this with bused camera. I know it's my call but i wanna hear some of your opinions. Thanks guys....

Well, as far as I know, it's a software issue were most of Prime users encounter during its lifetime. This happen to me too. I don't know why...

I doubt the reason the camera quit working is due to the fall, I baby my Prime and it has never taken a lick, yet my camera quit working about a week ago, I get the green scrambled screen like many, many others have gotten with theirs. Either they have poor connections to the board internally, or the software drivers are bad. Only my front works, and I live overseas so getting service is going to be a huge pain.

It's most definitely hardware. Squeezing the TFP by the camera brings back the camera for a second which makes it 100% hardware. It's likely a loose connection or poor solder joint.
My rear camera went green and I have never dropped it.
Unfortunately I have unlocked my Prime and therefore "technically" I am out of warranty. I may have to try to RMA it and see if they will fix hardware even if I unlocked it. I also have an LCD Mura and all the weak WIfi and BT issues. I may just wait until any other hardware issues popup and try to get them fixed all at the same time.
yep, this is most definitely hardware related. same thing happened to me and i had to RMA it. they didn't try to pin it on me for CID though, so you should be all set. I had my prime repaired and back in 12 days from sending it.
there are also a number of threads about this already. please try searching before making a new thread.

Good luck!
Mine is currently being RMA'd for exactly the same reason. It had a minor bump and the camera showed a broken image in green. Mine would also temprorarily get fixed by squeezing but after a bit that stopped working. Moral... Treat it like glass.
I am more than pissed. I just checked my camera. And now its GREEN! I take very good care of my equipment. My GF knocked it off of the couch last night while in the dock. maybe 15" fall onto my leg / carpet. I am beyond pissed. Reasons like this are prime example while i will never purchase another asus product.

I've got the green lines of death on my 8mp camera too. It just started happening. I can do the "squeeze" fix but as soon as I stop squeezing it goes back green and I never really get the camera to look right while squeezing. I also tried the soft reset button without help. I really don't want to RMA AGAIN. I just got my Prime back from Asus. I do have to say my RMA experiance was not bad though.
Has anyone found out the cause of this? To fix it ourselves so as to not pay ASUS to do it? I saw somewhere that it might be an overheat problem or something like it....

pretty sure its a physical damage problem, which seems more and more likely is caused by being dropped. might just be a loose connection, but unless someone with this issue opens up their prime to see if they can simply reconnect it, we won't know :\

Magenta areas on screen

All,
I'm recently experiencing a discoloring of my screen when I hold my TF in one hand and typing/touching with the other, white becomes magenta. Please see the attached screenshot with some changed areas encircled.
Has anybody of made similar experiences, is this some loose connector, shall I RMA this, or might this be a software issue?
Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Alex
I can honestly say I have never seen this on my Prime.
I do however get such artefacts from my desktop graphics card just before it freezes my entire system (no idea what causes it, happens about once every 2 weeks).
I get that on my prime too. I think its a result from the back plate pressing onto the display. Not sure what I'll do with mine just yet but planning on sending it to Asus to check it out

I was happening pretty much I got it. Unfortunately I imported it, so RMA costs would be too high for a return. Else the card runs perfect.
Guess when I get my next card, I will RMA this one (seeing that it got 10 years or lifetime warranty IIRC).
Okay, thanks for your answers, sounds like a RMA then...
Cheers,
Alex
Refund offer
Just FYI,
I got an offer from Asus that they will refund my TF201, as they are incapable of fixing it within a reasonable amount of time. They were waiting for spare parts, possibly the LCD screen.
As I'm still within the 6 months limit, I will get a full refund and I've already ordered a TF700.
I'd call this good luck...

TF201 Camera Broken?

Hello everyone. I have been in love with my TF201 sine purchasing it 5 months ago. I have encountered no problems with the tablet at all until, yesterday my friend wanted to take a picture, upon opening the camera app, all he saw was this. Now, I know somebody here will know if this is fixable or not. I am assuming that it isn't fixable and I'm just going to have to deal with a broken rear facing camera.
I should also mention that there is no damage to my TF201 and it has certainly never been dropped. So, is this just poor build quality that would cause this?

I just RMA'd mine to fix this issue...which was caused by an RMA to fix LCD mura. If you specify that you do not want them to reset the software, you shouldn't have to worry it being relocked.
That is just my experience though. I made sure to let them know not to reset the software...by stating it large bold letters in red ink on the RMA checklist

You might give this a try (found it on a google search) before you call and RMA it.
Open your camera program.
See bad green screen or something unrecognizable.
Open Options.
Change quality to 3 Mps.
Change sides to 16/9.
Turn focus to "far away" (not auto).
Press by your finger to back camera with some power for 5-7 seconds.
Move finger away.
If it's working - have a fun!
If it's not - press again.
Open Options.
Change quality and sides back for your pleasure.
When you make photos you can turn on "Auto focus", but when you turn off camera program you should change in options focus to "far away" (not auto).

So, this must be a Normal issue with the TF201?
Sent from my TF201 using xda app-developers app
Same thing happened to mine.
I think it's just a software issue though. If you change to the front camera and back again it's just the previous image displayed chopped up. Normally I would just fix permissions or re-flash the ROM, but I don't really want to void the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.
I don't think its a software issue...there's a thread that tells of a temp fix....by squeezing the area by the camera.
Also, I have flashed pretty much every rom, including stock and it is still the same result, even with permissions fixed.

annoyingly enough this happen to me before too -_-;
send it for an RMA for the same problem people.... sigh.........
The big question is... Will you be able to RMA it even after flashing a bunch of different ROMS. Perhaps flash stock again and send it back?
I think the REAL question is:
Will Asus let us BUY the damn camera module?
I've had a bad camera for months now because I don't want to go without my tablet for weeks for something that I know will take 15 minutes. I've seen more than enough tear downs to know it's nothing I couldn't handle, I just want to PAY them for the part.
Every few weeks I search for it as a part to buy, with no luck

Screen off during call problem

Screen turns off when placing phone to ear as expected however does not come back on when pulled away. Only after the 2nd party disconnects will the screen come back on after pressing power button and the only to the lock screen. This is a new issue. Are you stock? Rooted? I ran into this issue a few times with persus kernel.
I'm having the same issue. Anyone find a fix for this?
Just got off the phone with Verizon. They're sending a replacement. Something wrong with proximity sensor. Actually appears to be a speck behind glass over sensor.

I have also been having a bit of trouble with the same thing. On top of the screen not always coming on when I move the phone away from my ear during a phone call, sometimes when I pull up the keypad while on the phone and attempt to press a key, the screen will turn off. I think it's because the shadow of my hand makes it think it's back up to my ear. I see two little sensors next to the camera; one of them appears to have a little speck or dot on it. Maybe a piece of dirt in it? Can somebody who doesn't have this problem check and see if they see a very very tiny dot on the sensor closest to the in call speaker?
I've been having the same issue with my Note 2, I was wondering if this could be a software issue since I have messed with a few roms but decided to go back to stock. I've been looking everywhere for a solution, even went as far trying to find replacement files to see if that would fix it, but to no avail. I guess I'll have to replace the device.

I have found a fix for this, at least for me, as I mentioned in an earlier post I had flashed a few ROMs, decided to search the other carriers galaxy note 2 forums and found this:

Luckily there is a Perseus kernel for verizon too here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048013
Will do this later and report.
Edit: the perseus kernel by itself didn't do the trick but beanstown's stock root/deodex and jelly 'beans' roms did! I now have everything working like new with cleanrom installed

Bad area on touch screen

I noticed a section across my screen, approx 1/2 in tall, that I is not registering touches. I used ScreenTouchTest from the Play Store to test touches.I got it to go away for a little bit by pulling the battery a couple times but now it is persistent.I tried resetting my phone to factory settings and no luck. I am on stock ICS. Of course I don't have warranty, I was just curious if anyone else had this happen.
