Best Rom & xrecovery - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I have sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro.
Model: U20i
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Band: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build: 2.1.1.A.0.6
I have root right but don't have xrecovery, how to install it? ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950324 i have read here but when don't find install busybox in titanium backup)
I need a rom with 2.3, ottimized for NO gaming but for save battery who can advise me? Don't need any useless application for example google maps, facebook, voice service etc..

Since you already rooted your phone, use RecoverX to install CWM or xrecovery...

Rom
Yup i have install cwm
For rom?

There is no point on asking this!
It could end with lots of different opinions, as IAmNice has already said.
But, since you have already installed CWM, practically you can try different roms very quickly. After a few installations you will probably have decided what's best for you.
Then, you could just make a backup and in the future try other roms that appear without the risk to install everything "from the scratch"...

First you should try some, that runs on the stock kernel (if you are not shure what that is, then just avoid ROMs that requires a custom kernel of any kind).
ROMs are the ones in XPERIA X10 Mini Pro Android Development section with title start with [ROM]...
You should focus on Gingerbread ROMs (CM7, 2.3.x). And don't try the ones that requires extra modules if they are not available. Mostly this means "older" ones. But they are often stable and fast and uses less battery
Just to set you off on a good start:
SonyStyle - V1.1 FINAL
MiniCM7Pro - V21 (For Stock kernel)
Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7 based on MiniCM for MiniPro (v15.0)
xCyanogenPro - Gingerbread - v12
Flame.GDX ICS (2.3.7 nightly) 8/12/2011
Andread 2.2.9 Pro v9f - Andread 2.3.5 Pro v3 only 63Mb
As you start to try different roms and gets used to the process you can then unlock bootloader and install custom kernel <- wait to do this untill you feel ready and have read about other users trouble.

Don't know if it's the best but I recommend MiniCM-2.2.1 (by nAa and D_d). Here.
However now I'm testing MiniCM10-4.0.2... and so far so good.

MiniCM7 to GinTonic.SE!

Hello guys
I have one quick question...I searched both Mini Pro section and Custom Rom thread but nothing, no luck...Answer is somewhere, I'm probably just to stupid to find it :/
Anyway,
I'm on MiniCM7 v15.0 (by slade87 and nobodyAtAll)
2.6.29 and 53404015
What steps do I need to take to go to GinTonic.SE v2.4.3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207740)
And if you can give me your opinions on GinTonis CE v.2.4.3. How is it? Is it stable etc.?
Thanks in advance!
It`s Very Stable,fast and ,,, !
Just Flash Your Kernel & Enjoy !
I wipe all data and then flash it using CWM?

GinTonic SE v.2.4.3 is vere stable and very fast as well, no FC for me since i installed it.
Think that it works best with slade87:s Zombie Panic kernel.

You presumably have a mini.. does gintonic support mini too?? (btw gintonic is amazing to say the least.. and with zombiepanic Kernel, GODLIKE!!)
Just flash with CWM (try without data reset first.. it might work) if it doesnt work, clear data partition and flash zip again with CWM...
I'll try that...I was asking because I don't want to unlock my bootloader (messy person, don't wont to hard brick my phone), so basically I can't have Zombie kernel.
And yea, it's for x10 mini pro.

yes, you can install it without unlockbootloader and install a custom kernel. but after installing the ROM, you must also install the module.
Ok, so just to be sure, i need to do this:
Wipe data > flash ROM using CWM > flash modules using CWM....
And then I'm ready to go? I don't need to do anything else?...Is GinTonic SE by slade87 on normal kernel as good as one on Zombie kernel?
as far as i do the processes to instal whitout ZP is realy this
Wipe data > flash ROM using CWM > flash modules using CWM
(sometimes i clear cahce e dalvikcache, but those are cleared in the flahs process so not really necessary)
i recently removed ZP and tryed Stock kernel, for a problem i was having with my phone and for the moment i cant say i noticed diference from the two. could be some but i dindt found it.
Ok, thanks for your answers and help guys. Appreciate it very much
I'll flash it first thing tomorrow
Once more, thank you all!

MiniCM7Pro will only run on the stock kernel, there was no need to unlock your bootloader, and most certainly not to install a custom kernel. Get back to stock kernel (I think there's a link provided for a kernel you can flash with flashtool) and then run MiniCM7Pro.

No, the order doesn't really matter, but your phone will only work if you pair the right kernel and the right rom together. The ROM post will state which kernel it will run on.
so for:
MiniCM7Pro - Stock Kernel
MiniCM7 - nAa-13 Gingerbread kernel
ArcMiniNxt - Just about every kernel
MiniCM9 - nAa-04 ICS kernel

Just about all roms that state they're based on CyanogenMod (CM) include App2SD by default, all you have to do it activate it in settings.
ArcMiniNxt is a Gingerbread ROM with a sony ericsson framework, so it will look and work a bit like the original firmware, but based on Gingerbread, and it will run on the stock kernel. It seems smooth and easy on battery-life.
MiniCM7 is sort of the 'default' ROM to go for if you want Android look-and-feel, it is further developed than MiniCM7Pro, but you will need the nAa-gingerbread kernel for it. It is also very smooth and fast.
Mind you, nothing is perfect, you can expect some problems with your keyboard layout and keyboard lights on all Gingerbread ROMS, but there are fixes for that if you care to search through the x10minipro development forum

SK17i - lot of help

hello everyone!
I need your help and opinions
I followed this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514
with success but now after too many attempts of mods my mini pro is slow!
only yesterday I learned to use the x-parts and the recovery, to make a new backup and restore the last bacukp ...
now I want to reset when i did the tutorial because yesterday try to install the supercharger without sucess...
1-only need this step:
IV. Flash 4.0.4 ROM: ??
2-someone can give me some tips on how to best roms and kernels to sk17i?
3-to use the recovery only need to make a new backup, install a new mod and if something is not right just restore the last backup?
4-to improve the sound tried different mods, beats and other audio, which is best for sk17i?
I have more questions now but these are the most important ....
thanks to those who help me
For flashing Android 4.0.4 you can just follow the tutorial you tried to root. You just have to this.
A good Androd 4.0.4 rom and kernel is cyanogenmod 9 or if you want Android 4.1.1 jelly bean you could try CM10 Alpha.
But remeber that your bootloader has to be unlocked!
answer for no. 2: you can try Real ics 5.2, used krsh kernel v3.smartassv2 governor. i got 2 days top with light usage. for the audio, nah i dont know.sorry.

For no.2 you can use exmiui and krsh kernel. And for no.4 I think the stock xloud is good enough or else you can try using dsp manager and a third party music player like PowerAmp. Yes for no.3.

To answer number 2, in my opinion, stock ICS plus some mods like Xperia S Walkman, Lasan mods (I use 1, 4 and 5 from that post), V6 supercharger (after flashing lasan mods, you can get 100% supercharged "automagically") give the best experience in terms of stability and smoothness.
I also tried Real Ics 5.1 and it was a great rom, but a little too heavy for me. I'm currently following the JB roms :fingers-crossed:
For number 3, yes, you make a backup, install whatever you want, try for a few hours/days and if you don't like, just go into CWM and restore (no need to wipe).
Hope that helps :good:

You need an unlocked bootloader for any kernel flash. First unlock bootloader for installing custom kernel. All Cyanogenmod versions are only working with unlocked bootloader...

Whatever is the phone, just check the rom GingerDx. Please be sure to browse it in the right forum (mini or mini pro). If the phone is mini pro (the one with keyboard) you can also check the rom MiniCM7 Pro, by b-paul.
These roms doesnt require custom kernel neither unlocked bootloader, but they need latest firmware (ended in 015)

There isn't much choice for the x10mini unfortunately.
I guess you could try an older version of MiniCM7, before the 2.1 incarnations they ran on stock kernel, it can still be downloaded from nAa's google-code page
2.0.7 is the last one to run on stock kernel, based on Gingerbread 2.3.5.

On the x10mini pro you've got more choice than on the x10mini If it's got a slide-out keyboard you've got an x10mini pro and you can choose MiniCM7Pro, ArcMiniNxt and GingerDX seems to work on stock kernel too.
I'm sure i've forgotten one or two others.
Without the keyboard, you've got an x10mini and you've got no real choice whatshoever, because just about all Gingerbread roms require the nAa kernel.
Its X10 mini. i know it dears

Andread maybe, or an older version of MiniCM7 (2.0.7 is the last one that worked on stock kernel).
Andread is available in the x10mini dev section
MiniCM7 as well, but you have to click the brown 'Downloads' text in the opening post. That will bring you to nAa's google-code download page where all ROMs he's ever made are available for download. Scroll down to find 2.0.7, it's based on Gingerbread 2.3.5 and works quite well.

[Q] [X10] xRecovery on ICS/JB roms?

So, I'm a pretty average custom rom user of an x10a.
I've flashed and tweaked out with several gingerbread roms, without any issues.
Recently I found about the newer 4.1.2 roms for the x10 from late December. And I was wondering, 'cause I want to update to one of those, I understand that they're flashed in the same way 2.3 roms are. But, my xRecovery is the 3.0 gingerbread ready version. So I don't know if it will work at all after I've installed one of the Jelly Bean roms.
So I'm kindly asking anybody who knows on the forum if it will still work after I flash to 4.1.2. 'Cause I'm not certain which rom of the two I found is better for me. And I want to test them both out, but of that of course I'd need xRecovery working.
In short I'm just asking for a y/n answer on will xRecovery for the Xperia x10 work after I've installed a 4.1 custom rom, or will I have to go back to stock 2.3.3 and re-root and unlock my bootloader again?
Big thanks to anybody who replies This is the first post I made here, and probably the only one I'll never need.

copy your choice of rom, ics/jb into your sd card. install the appropriate kernel via flashtool. all ics/jb kernels includes CWM so you should have no problem installing these roms granted that you have unlocked bootloader.

It can be done, but it depends on which kernel you flash.
Some kernels only contain CWM, while others contain xRecovery and CWM.
But you can always flash a kernel that has xRecovery (Like Doomkernel of ferkernel 3.6), and thus you have xRecovery.

Some kernels only contain CWM, while others contain xRecovery and CWM.
But you can always flash a kernel that has xRecovery (Like Doomkernel of ferkernel 3.6), and thus you have xRecovery.

Hi
Can flash ICS/JB rom using xrecovery in Doomkernel? Thanks
I'm not sure mate, I don't think Doomlord's kernel is compatible with anything but 2.3, but don't take my word on it.

What you must understand is that a Rom comes with some installation scripts. CWM and xRecovery will able or not to understand those scripts.
In order to be able to flash a ICS or JB rom from xRecovery it means that the rom has to been prepared to be flashed thanks to xRecovery.
The Recovery "manager" are provided with the kernels, so there shouldn't be anything to ask about xRecovery or CWM regarding Roms,
just flash the kernel that works with your rom and you'll get the correct recovery to install the ROM from.
The only exception is that on some phone, the CM10 kernel doesn't want to go into recovery before flashing CM10 Rom (happened to me when coming from stock gb), so you have to flash CM9 kernel, install CM10 rom and reflash CM10 kernel.
The question of xRecovery and CWM is more when you try to flash some libraries after the installation of the Rom.
So regarding this question, there's no ICS or JB roms (that I know of) that have a xRecovery scripts.
