[Q] Switching to single band wifi - HTC Droid DNA

When I tried to switch off the wifi dual band and use only 2.4 or 5 Ghz wifi stops connecting and goes in to a on/off loop. It gets back to normal once I put it back in Auto mode. Is it just me or does this happen to everyone?

I can confirm that. I tried a reboot and that didn't fix anything and went back to Auto and it worked great after that. Its weird. :/

hmmm... it is probably some bug... does anyone know is there will be less drain on the battery if we use single band?

Strange 3G Issue

So I woke up this morning and noticed that my 3G was off - so I go into menu to turn it back on and it says "Turning on..." so I sit there and watch it for like 5 minutes.. still turning on... so I decided to leave it alone for a few hours.. still "turning on..."
By the way, at this point in time I was running the rooted leak #3 that jcase posted. So here are the steps I've taken to get this issue resolved, all to no avail:
1) reboot - when it booted back up, still said "turning on..."
2) factory data/dalvik clear - same. after setup, still "turning on..."
3) restore to previous NAND backup from a few days ago - still "turning on..."
4) factory data/dalvik wipe and flash new ROM (Ivan's 1.0 OC ROM) - same thing.. after setup, still "turning on..."
5) *228 program - phone rebooted with the 3G symbol showing, but no data connection could be found by any apps, including the browser. shortly after that, the 3G icon disappeared and we're back to "turning on..."
6) update PRL - same as above
7) flash Alltel/VZW Hybrid PRL - same as above
8) Turn on Airplane Mode - 3G went from "turning off..." to "off", but as soon as I took out of of Airplane mode, it went back to "turning off"
9) Battery pull - same thing.. rebooted, still "turning off..."
So now, I'm sitting here with Ivan's new 1.0 ROM but no data
Every now and then, the 3G icon will show up and in the settings, it tells me that mobile network is on, but the icon never shows that it's receiving data, only sending. Then the icon goes away and it's back to "turning on..."
Has anyone else experienced this?? Could it be a hardware issue??
By the way, my radio is 2.41.04.02.02
Any insight would be awesome!!
Odd, my data is doing the same thing...im running the latest 2.1 leak and i went back to a rooted 1.5...same issue
damn well I sure hope somebody knows what's going on because I am fresh out of ideas :/ I'm like 99.9% sure I've already done everything possible to try to fix it, other than flashing a different radio, but I was running 2.41 before.
UPDATE: My 3G just came on, send AND receive Right now, I have flashed back to my previous NAND of leak #3. I am going to flash Ivan 1.0 and see what happens.
UPDATE 2: flashed Ivan 1.0 - 3G fired right up, working and all!! So basically, I have absolutely no idea why this happened. Hopefully it'll stay on!!

XPERIA X10 Wi-Fi Problem!

I have a very apparent problem on my phone similar to the Iphone 4 problem but only with Wi-Fi. It's very minor compared to Iphone 4's recent problem (which was fix not too long ago..). While holding the phone in landscape mode and having your left (or right) hand on top the phone reduces the frequency of Wi-Fi and utterly disconnects. I have this problem in my room because my router is 3 floors down, it isn't the greatest reception but it works. So in summary when Wi-Fi is 1-2 bars, holding you hand atop the phone disconnects or lowers your Wi-Fi reception. This is a piss off... Either someone can fix this, or we need to complain to Sony ****ersson about this problem.
or move your router one floor up...
No, thats not something im going to do, the iPhone got a fix, why cant we?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
@zephyrix i agree with you or better buy wifi antenna booster..... solve the problem...
That's not a problem, its simply because you are far away from the router, when it happens to you when you are at closed range, come and talk about it.
and cleary you don't know the real issue the iphone had...

+1 mezo9090.. it's a mobile phone.. the receiver won't be as strong as a PC Wifi receiver.. you could get an booster, or a better router..

I Think I have a WiFi problem as mine fails to turn on constantly. It will only start after I freshly boot it, then it turns off after about 15 minutes and is unable to start again until I power off, and back on.
If I go to the settings menu, wireless controls and tap to turn on WiFi it shows "Turning on..." for roughly 15-20 seconds then says "Unable to start WiFi"
This happened before and after I rooted with R2BA023 Firmware.
Anyone else encounter anything similar?

Hi Reeonimus - I just finished rooting my x10a from Rogers and I can't connect to my wifi at work, it was working before, so now I have to figure this one out.
I will see if I have the same problem at home tonight, will keep you posted
If you were having problems before, maybe your wifi in the phone is the problem
did you connect to wifi when you first received it? before doing anything to it
There is wifi patch for people who rooted the phone. Go back to the same rooting thread and look at the 4th post.

well I tried it last night and it connected perfectly at home.
I'm going to have to figure this one out
home is using WEP-Personal and so is my office.
but at the office it gives me a "Obtaining address" but just stops there.
I have full signal strength, but unsuccessful
It was connecting before the root
Patch file : I just installed it and it didn't fix anything, if anything it actually made it worse I think
What does that WiFi patch do?
And has anyone gotten WPA2 enterprise, or PEAP working? I'll need that for uni...
I came across this: http://pboos.ch/wordpress/2009/04/android-using-wpa2-enterprise/

I barely used the phone before I rooted so I don't know if the problem was there before. The bluetooth also had problems turning on.
However I reset the phone to factory settings and returned it for a new one. Then I realized that resetting it only reset the apps and everything, it was still on the R2BA023 firmware. They took it back and gave me a new one because they didn't notice though.
Rooted the new one and have had no problems since.

Hi guys, I'm an AT&T user on 1.6. I am looking for the wi-fi patch, as my wi-fi drops off with my cellular reception. Will this patch fix this problem? If you can point me to the rght direction, I would appreciate it. Trying to search but it appears search is down for the moment. Thanks
Screw it. I'm ready to jump to 2.1, since AT&T doesn't look like they are going to be rolling this out. Does 2.1 still have this wi-fi issue?
coughee, they have a stock 2.1 out now, just use the search to root it. have you checked for seus updates?? lately?

Losing Internet - Bug?

Hi guys,
I have a SGS2, and it's wonderful, but I am noticing a very annoying issue.
I will be browsing a site, for example, and then go through a bad reception area, so I lose internet. However, a lot of the time, it never reconnects. I might have the H, and 4 bars... but only the up (green) arrow flashes... and I get 'This page cannot be displayed'. No mail.. nothing. Internet connectivity is gone .. even though I am sure I am in a good reception area.
What I have to do is go into Aeroplane Mode, and then out of Auroplane Mode, which seems to force a reconnect... and then all is fine. It seems when I lose reception ... it doesn't try to reconnect.
I am running 2.3.2. Maybe it's an app? I use 3D watchdog... and a few other apps... but it's really annoying. I hope it's a known issue, that might get resolved.
Today I noticed I had no mail for a few hours... Went into Aeroplane Mode, and out, and then they all flooded in...
Search is a beautiful feature. You should try it, the answer is there
Give us a hint. As a non technical guy, what am I looking for?
Never had this problem on my Galaxy even with 1 bar signals, but I know what you're talking about tho, had the problem on iPhone 4 until apple released an update which fixes the modem.

Had this problem as well. There is a thread here or in development section about disabling fast dormancy (tried it but didnt solve my problem). Also there is a thread here talking about bad reception (search it you ll recognize it) and few guys added few lines in the build.prop file but I didnt test it.I solve it with factory reset. The problem you have is that the phone when is not using data connection goes from H to 3G to save battery but some times when is trying to go from 3G to H to use data(eg you open your browser) that action failed.Thats why you have disconnections and you need to reset the connection.
ps after I did factory reset I faced this problem one more time and after that till now I had zero disconnections (10 days now tested)
ps2 check from settings>about phone>battery usage the cell standby persent. If you click on it you ll see a "time with out signal" and a persentage. This in my case is still high (100%!!!!!) but I think this is a bug.
Hope to help

I am so glad you asked. I have had the same problem and even though I have searched and read the fast dormancy thread, It didn't sound like the same symptoms I was having. You hit the nail on the head with your description. I guess I will see if disabling it fixes my problem.
However, I thought AT&T had fast dormancy enabled because the Iphone has it....?

I am on AT&T too in NYC. And have this exact problem, and disabling fast dormancy does not help.
Agree with you on your second point too.
I'm now around 15 hours into the 'fast thing' being disabled... and so far, so good. If it works for the rest of the day, I can declare that my phone is fixed , but it's quite sad that it's not working for the other chaps...
I noticed I had to reboot... Maybe you haven't rebooted?
Also, someone mentioned on another thread that when they rebooted, the setting went back to Enabled. Carrier stuff forcing it to enabled maybe?

I rebooted multiple times, and even pulled the battery out a few times. I also tried a different SIM card. I even put the phone inside a pentagram and read some passages from some books. Nothing is helping. My provider AT&T is not forcing fast dormancy, the settings stick. But the problem does not go away.
Is this issue affecting a large group, or is it an isolated problem?

Galaxy S III Wifi Issue

Hey guys!
I'm not sure if this is my router problem, or my phone, but most likely my phone.
The wi-fi keeps continue to connect, and disconnect.
Here is the thing. When I bought the phone brand new, my phone behaved normal regarding the wifi, but when I flashed to a XXLF2, and using Checkrom with Siyah kernel, the wifi kept continue connect/disconnect all the time, so I gave another shot just reflashed everything to stock of XXLF2, still same problem.
Now, yesterday, I was flashing a new rom XXLF6, and then Omega rom, the wifi problem was still the same, so I gave it another try and just flashing the stock XXLF6, but the problem didn't either went away. I tried Ninphetamine kernel didn't help much either.
Anyone know what's going on??? You think it's hardware issue here, or something with the rom?
Hope someone could please help me out!
Thanks a lot!
Hi,
I not have the exact answer to you, but I think it is a hardware issue!! I have 2 router in my house (with the same ssid) with my SGS2 there is never problems when I cross the zones, it connects straight away to the other router. BUT with SGS3 it is a pain in the a..... I often need to turn on and off wi-fi several times before it can connect!!!! I think the 2 identical router confuse the SGS3....but not the SGS2 or my Tab. If there is only 1 router it connects straight away......
Yeah! That is actually what I was thinking too. It might be the hardware fault! I'm going to contact Samsung tomorrow, and see what's going on!
I have the exact same prob really annoying, but wifi driver is in kernel.I sometimes get "error bad connection " message.
Doesn't matter what kernel I use though.

No, but I do hit Clean Memory in the task manager quite often (because presto library is a piece of junk!) maybe that turns it off. I'll test tonight...
I'm also having the same issue, disconnecting, but appears connected in the Wifi settings. I have to go in and turn of power saving mode, but it comes back on after reboot.
Logicalstep
I had this wifi disconnect reconnect issue at work, but never happens at home. I initially thought it was some app I installed, I removed them and still happens at work, but not at home. All the phone settings mentioned here didn't make a difference.
I don't change anything on my phone, so I chuck it to incompatibility, and not an issue with my phone or it's settings.
Home Netgear WNDR3300 pretty much default settings.
The new firmware update XXLFB seems to update radio firmware and kernel. Maybe that will fix the problem.

What radio/modem version did you end up with, my UBLF2 (TTT) stayed the same after the update applied.
I had issues at work. But not at home.
Today I told it to forget my B/G radio and to connect to the N radio. No disconnects, none..
No changes made to the phone at all..
2 phones - only 1 with wifi issues
Hi, noob here. I have been following this issue on androidforums.com (same user name) but since the "fix" came from this site I thought I'd share my relevant info here as well.
My husband and I received 2 Verizon SIII's (32GB) this weekend. Mine works great. His, however, has the wifi disconnect issue. The *#0011# is only a temporary fix for him.
So, for what it's worth, it's not likely to be a router problem, since 1 phone has no wifi issues and the other does.
We talked to Verizon at lunch today and they were interested in the problem and will be calling us at home this evening, with a Samsung rep. I'll post more once we've heard from them. For now though, Samsung does not have it listed as a "known" issue since there haven't been enough reports on this bug.

[Q] Task650 (4-14) - No Carrier Signal For Several Minutes After Boot

Been having a problem with Task's latest ROM (4-14) and the previous version (4-1). Both take several minutes to obtain carrier signal (AT&T) after booting. I've tried flashing with full wipe several times, different modems, and adjusting APN settings, but nothing fixed it. My phone usually picks up service after about 5 minutes, but sometimes I've waited 10+ minutes and had to reboot again, because it still hadn't connected. Also, maybe this is just how it's supposed to work, but I've noticed that while my phone has no service, if I go to System Settings->More->Mobile networks->Access Point Names there's nothing there at all. Just a blank window until it finally connects. Is anyone else having this problem or know of any possible solutions? Thanks!

Android Version: 4.2.2
ROM: Task650
Build: 4.14.2013

Mine does exactly the same. Baseband is unknown and there's no IMEI info until it finally connects. I also noticed that under service state it said "radio off" until it connects and then changes to "in service".

I even flashed back to the 3-13 build just to make sure and this problem doesn't happen with that build. I was hoping the 4-14 build would fix it, but it didn't. I did see on Task's developer thread someone made a post about having this issue, but it looks like they never posted a logcat or anything to help Task resolve it. I would gladly post one if I could, but I'm new to XDA and they won't let me post on a developer thread.
i have same issues. along with my time going screwy from time to time.

I no longer have any issues with the time zone changing in the newest build (4-14). I don't know if you're on that build, but the workaround for that problem was to set your own time zone manually.

i am still on 4.1. i am not prepared for a full wipe yet.
Apparently, what's happening is the radio doesn't turn on during boot (Radio baseband not recognized error or something). I fixed this problem by turning on the wifi temporarily then turning it off. Apparently this will turn on the radio and should stay that way. I hope this works for you.

That worked dude, thanks! It took me a couple tries, I probably didn't give my phone enough time to boot, but I got it. Definitely a lot faster than waiting for it to connect on it's own.
I wonder why this only seems to affect some of our phones, but not the majority? If I didn't know any better, I'd say it almost seems like they have slightly different hardware. I bought mine directly from AT&T the first week it was released. Don't know if they possibly made any hardware revisions since?

Did you try turning off the "Automatic Time Zone" option in the Date & Time settings? My phone always sets the time to GMT+0 when I have that turned on.

I have been having this problem as well.
Yesterday I did another wipe and reinstall. I did a full wipe (and in mounts formatted everything except my external SD which was temporarily removed.) after flashing the rom, I rebooted recovery and did another wipe data/factory reset and wiped dalvik, then I installed gapps. I then formatted the cache and data again and rebooted the phone. It seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this didn't work for me. Tried it exactly as you said, but still have the problem.

Same issues here, Ive just resorted to manually entering the time zone, but no solution for the delayed connection.

Known issue for months now about the time zone. And apparently some others have experienced a longer than normal connection delay too. Weird.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I have been using Task's ROM for a few months now and I never had any problems.
updated to version 4-14 and was enjoying it until today. Lost my phone service, for some reason the IMEI got corrupted...I don't even have the access point names choice in mobile networks...no amount of rebooting fixed it...had to flash the phone with a backup file and so far its doing fine..
