[Q] Android keyboard? - HTC One X+

Hello all
I have read in a couple of reviews that the One X+ comes with the choice of either the JB keyboard, or the sense 4+ version.
Is this indeed the case?

It will have the sense keyboard, and whatever keyboard your carrier chooses to put on it.
Mine just has the sense keyboard, I'm on ATT.
If you want a different keyboard, just install it from the Play Store.
After all, it's not an iPhone where some preppy in Seattle knows what best for every one...
I use Better Keyboard, you have to get it from the Amazon Android App Store though.

Need T9 keyboard, HTC Trace f.ex?

I've searched and searched. But I can't find this anywhere. Can't believe that nobody have made a port of this, so we could've used it in both CM7 and MIUI. I'm on Sense 3.0 Revolution and I'm loving the HTC Trace keyboard. But I like to play with different roms, that's the fun with androids! I'm from Norway and there aren't that many good keyboards with norwegian prediction and T9/phonekeypad. The HTC_IME Mod is far away compared to this keyboard, especially on the prediction. And I find it amusing to use the trace function once in a while. I'm just a fan, not a developer. But for you who are it can't be that hard? Shoot me if I'm wrong...
Also tried to install android keyboards from LG and Samsung Galaxy S2 as I know they have T9 pad, flashed in recovery, but they don't appear in the language/keyboard setting menu no matter what... Are they blocked for anything but their "brand"?
Hoping for other answers than try swype, swiftkey, etc etc..
Best regards

[Q] Keyboard

Does anyone know how to get the HTC IME Keyboard that was on the EVO 3D onto the SIII? I'm coming from the EVO 3D and this new keyboard on the galaxy is taking a while to get used to.
Found an app on play market called "Gingerbread SenseMod Keyboard", not sure if that will suffice.
Otherwise I would recommend giving swiftkey a go, I have been very happy with this.
Get smart keyboard pro. It has the stock looking htc keyboard
sent with SGS3
Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded swiftkey and i like it so far. Might just keep it. Thanks

[REQUEST] Korean for HTC One keyboard

Is there anyways to add korean to the HTC keyboard?
I looked in languages on the keyboard and korean wasn't one of the options.
The look and feel of the keyboard is great but if there isnt korean I cant use it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Google korean keyboard
Hi, I guess you're Korean because you're looking for Korean keyboard right? I'm also Korean but I thought I better leave my answer in English.
Anyways, I guess Google Korean Keyboard is the only option we got here. I purchased S4 because of that language issue but I can't resist htc zoe's features so I'm going to swap my S4 with htc one.

I was trying to find that too. So I got Kii keyboard and downloaded the Korean keyboard. The Kii Keys are surprisingly easy to use.
Oddly enough, there is a system language option for Korean, but no matching Korean keyboard option.

Really? I couldn't see any Korean option from System Language.
Are you using htc One? then what country are you at?
Im in the USA.
When you first start or after a factory reset you can choose Korea for the language but the keyboard is non existance.
what are they thinking...
the HTC keyboard is really nice though
think ill send them a lil email.
Ok I got a response from them and this is what they say:
Dear danny chun,
Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support, Danny.
In this specific case as your HTC One does not have this option (Due to different version of keyboard), I would suggest you to install a third-party application to use it for Korean language.
There are many apps (some of them are for free) that you can check at:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=korean+keyboard&c=apps
As these are third-party applications, HTC does not support or warranty any of them, and its implementation is at your discretion. I will be looking forward to your response if further assistance is required.
As always, we are here to answer any technical questions or concerns you may have between 8am to 1am, 7 days a week for your convenience, or by phone at 1-866-449-8358.
Thank you for contacting HTC and have a great day.

So there is no way it seem... T.T
it's so frustrating.. even if you download third party apps for this phone, you can't even select it as a choice for keyboard.
Even if you click the (on) position for the third party keyboard there is no way to actually use the keyboard.
This brings you back to selecting "keyboard options" in HTC Sense Input which does absolutely nothing...
Anyone find a fix or way around this??

Have you tried Google's Korean IME? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5pbnB1dG1ldGhvZC5rb3JlYW4iXQ..
(edit: I see a link was provided to the play store previously, with Google's IME being the first option on that page)
I will make a Korean HTC Sense based Keyboard unless someone from South Korea has the korean HTC One M9 and would care to share the APK

I am frustrated with the lack of anything like this for ICS. I am in the same boat as you. I can't believe that Google Now is completely broken for ICS. Likewise, if you are on ICS, YOU CANNOT EVEN FIND VLINGO ON THE MARKET.
I seriously believe that Google paid Vlingo off to not make it available for ICS because we literally have no choice but to buy a Jelly Bean phone in order to have a decent voice search or voice activated app. (Because nothing comes close to Google Now or Vlingo in voice capability)
If you read the forums about ICS, you will see nothing but post after post of how ICS basically has broken voice activated and voice search mechanics. Google bent over backwards to put Google Now on Iphone, but refuses to support Google Now for ICS.
If anyone thinks it's a coincidence that Vlingo is off of the Android market for ICS and that Google Now was broken, then you are naive.
Google sold us out to get us to buy Jelly Bean phones.
I'm officially done buying Android phones after my current one dies in the future. I've never heard of such poor support for the second newest OS before. It's like ICS does not exist to Google.
Can you imagine how many thousands of people would download Vlingo from the market if they are stuck on ICS since we don't have Google Now?
(please let me know if I'm correct as I wonder if it's just HTC ICS that can't see Vlingo on market?

Android 4.4 update installed Swype?

So I have a Galaxy S4 and finally updated it to Android 4.4, so you might be going 'wow, Samsung is slower than HTC for once!' and I'll go 'yeah, I know right!'. Anyways, now I'm interested in this 'Swype' keyboard installation that's going on. Before we begin, just thought you should know that I am just curious with who is doing this so it's not really an issue of mine.
Swype can only be disabled, but cannot be uninstalled. I have used Swype before as a trial, but removed it as I liked SwiftKey better. Now I'm almost positive this was a new install with Android 4.4 because I had to go through the welcome screens for Swype when I first selected it as my default keyboard input method. You might ask how did I first notice this? Well, a friend of mine was spamming emoji's because they new I couldn't do it back and so I was going through all the keyboards I had to see if they had a list of Emojis, which looked like is only available on Google's stock keyboard. Anyways, as I'm certain that I did not install Swype, it had to come with the update, but my question (or interest) is who did it?
As far as I know, Samsung has their own keyboard with a SwiftKey licensing to use their word prediction algorithm. Highly doubt Google brought Swype in as it would just introduce competition against their own keyboard and it wouldn't make sense not to implement Emojis on Swype if Google indeed did bring Swype in. I'm speculating that Swype (Nuance really) paid Google to have their application installed on all new 4.4 updates?
