So here is exactly what I did and I realize the error I made.
I had the Bootstrap CWM installed and I tried to install a non-Boostrap CWM ROM.
I wiped System/Data etc after I made a backup. Is there anyway to flash stock to the phone?

If you have 2.3.4 you can restore via a RSD flash back to stock
What firmware were you running?
What ROM did you attempt to flash?

Hello there guys.
I've done a full backup with clockwork but if i try to restore it i get a error message about the boot image...i can't restore it. now i was able to restore system..data..and so on via advanced restore...i get no boot animation but the system is up an running. i can't get the wifi to work...what can i do now?
I used a clockwork 4.0.1.4 with root enabled..i flashed it whit Odin.
Thanks guys
forgot to mention I own a Galaxy S 2
Flash a clean stock rom as your backup is corrupt.

Same issue
I took a full backup with CWM (4.0.0.2) to test a Kitchen ROM. After getting it to work I wanted to switch back to my standard ROM (CF-Root KE7), but it failed with the boot image ("error flashing boot image").
If the backup was corrupt I would expect the MD5 to fail, but it didn't. Like the OP I was able to restore all the other items one by one, which now gives me a Frankenstein ROM: KE7 with the Kitchen-selected Kernel (Ninphetamine) and baseband (KH1).
I'll flash a new stock ROM with CF-Root again, but I am doubting CWM now.
Had a quick question. I just rooted my Tab. Used Rom Manager from market to backup the original ROM. Going to flash with Task650 ROM and 1.4oc kernel. My question is if I want to restore the original ROM after I do this. Do I get the original Kernel back with the restore as well? Or do I need to back this up seperate?
Thanks!
This is what id did, I flashed clockwork recovery with odin, i went into recovery did a back up in clockwork recovery and not rom manager. Rom manager does not always give you a good back. Then i rooted the tab after that. So when i restore to stock, i restore the stock rom unrooted. And last you have to reflash stock recovery with odin. I have done this at least 3 times and it restores totally to stock.
Thank you!

Hi
I've unlocked the bootloader of my phone, then installed CWM. cwm was working fine for days, then I can't boot into cwm.
cwm is installed. (I can install zip files from pimp my rom where cwm in required)
But I can't install any roms cause I can't boot into cwm menu.
So what do I do now? Can I directly reinstall cwm? OR I've to flash back to stock ftf file and then again install cwm?
Its weird. :s

Hi,
Im relatively new to the Z Ultra.
I have an unlocked bootloader, rooted phone.
Recently, I went from the stock ROM rooted to Paranoidandroid.
Now I have decided to go back to my stock Firmware. I have a Nandroid backup.
The issue is I am stuck inside a recovery from PA that does not want to restore my stock Sony ROM.
What is the best way for me to go from my AOSP ROM back to my Sony one via a restore in recovery?
Thanks.

Is it just not showing the backup or does it give an error when trying to restore?
Well the recovery that comes with PA custom ROM, CWM v6.0.5.0 will not allow me to browse to the TWRP recovery location that was used to backup the Sony stock ROM, so I copied the backup to the CMW folder.
When trying to restore it prompts about missing MD5 sums for all the backup partitions, but when I say proceed anyway it gives an MD5 error.
Actually, here is the full error:
Checking md5....
No MD5 verification performed...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Error while flashing boot image...
Before trying the restore this stock ROM, should I be flashing a boot.img for stock ROM?
Where is this?
Thanks.

Okay I would make sure you still have a copy in the twrp folder and use FlashTool to flash a boot img. that has twrp recovery. It doesn't need to be compatible with PA as you won't be booting into ROM but booting straight to recovery to restore backup.

Basically just need boot img. with twrp to restore with, it will be overwritten with whichever one you had when backup was made.
Got you!
Downloaded a kernel that had TWRP recovery, flashed the .img via Fastboot, then booted into TWRP, restored.
Thanks for the help, and sorry about the double post!

You're welcome. Just glad it was an easy fix!
Yeah, I am too!
I'm new to all this flash.img flashing first, my last phone this wasnt needed.
Thanks again.

It's not normally needed here either, just on odd occasions like this, or when you first need recovery
I have my Galaxy S II running a KitKat rom.
When I installed it, I have installed a KitKat compatible recovery.
Now I want to know if it is compatible with the Jellybeam stock rom.
I have made a backup of my stock rom via clockworkmod.
Can I just restore it? Or I need to flash another recovery to do that.
And if I restore it will it be compatible?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you.
There is no harm in recovery against your ROM. It means that if recovery is good and stable and recognizes md5 sums of that backup, you can restore it from your pre-installed recovery but for better result, restore it from CMW as it is a well recognized and working recovery.
Bro what a question! Reminds me when I was using my s5830i. I tried what you said but it cause brick or possibly bootloop. Dont even try it
As recommended by #nhmanas... install another recovery, i never faced a situation like this, by me, i would recommend you to install CWM
