[Q] Error 266/264 RUU update utility. - 7 Mozart General

I just tried to change my rom to the Dynamics v2 by ultrashot and keep getting Error 266, or error 264 and I believe once I got error 260.
After the verifying info screen I get either the 264 or 260, if I get past that to where it starts trying to load the rom I get the 266. I've looked at a few HD7 threads with the same error, but no resolutions in them.
I went from the earlier version of Dynamics to Deepshining 6 which is currently on there. I tried loading an older rom and an stock rom with the same errors each time. The Deepshining rom was loaded from the computer I'm using now as far as I know no software changes have happened since.
HTC Mozart 7 T8698
OS version: 7.10.8835.35
Firmware Revision Number: Deepshining v6.0
Hardware: 0004
Radio Soft: 5.50.09.18_22.24.50.09U
Radio Hard: A.22.0.D4
Bootloader: 1.32.2250.1(119496)
The tricolour screen:
PD67120 SS-BC (4k)
HSPL1.32.2250.1(119496)
CotullaHSPL 0x07
Touch C1(v69)
USB comes up when I plug it in, HTC USB sync driver is installed and listed in Device manager while connected.
I have tried another computer running Vista 32 bit and loaded all the software (WMDC, WP7 SDK) and it had the exact same errors. Seems the phone doesn't want to communicate
I've reinstalled all relevant software on the laptop, power cycled both machines a few times as well.
The phone can successfully connect to WMDC when turned on normally.
Hard reset of the phone had no effect.
Any ideas of what to try?

Can't upgrade any ROM's- Error 260 (detailed description)

Hello,
I am new to this site, and also to WM based phones. I have run several searches on the forums for this problem and spent at least 3 hours today trying to run through the results, but I haven't found an answer that fits my circumstances. If the answer is on the forums, please forgive me, but I probably missed it because most posts start with one topic and become something entirely different within 5-12 pages.
So I have a Cingular 8525 with these stats:
Rom Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.0.0
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
Windows Mobile 5.0
I am working from a Windows XP Pro, SP2 box with ActiveSync 4.5 installed.
I downloaded 2 different update packages. The first was the latest shipped ROM, the second was the official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade. I have a USB cable attached to a USB 2.0 port. This is what happens when I try to upgrade with either program (I have done this both with the SIM card in and without it in):
Method 1:
I connect the 8525 to the USB cable and run ActiveSync. It connects and syncs, then I run the Upgrade program I downloaded. It starts up, then I lose the ActiveSync connection to the 8525. A second or so later, I get the rainbow color bands across the screen and it sits there. The program gets to the part about how you might brinck your phone, and I continue with the upgrade process. It gets to the part where it is supposed to check for the phone's current ROM, and it shows a blank instead of the ROM's version.
Method 2:
I start the upgrade program, then when it gets to the part about connecting your 8525, I connect it to the USB cable, then run ActiveSync. After it syncs, I continue with the process. This lets me avoid the problem with the rainbow screen and it identifies the current ROM on the phone. I continue the upgrade process, and it gets to the part where it is supposed to begin actually doing the upgrade. Then the program says that there is a USB connectivity problem, error 260. It gives me the option to reset the 8525 and see if it recovers correctly (which it always does), then try again, but I get the same effect.
I can't figure out what to do, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
An Update:
On the rainbow screen, it says:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.11
USB
Ok, this time I downloaded the latest update from HTC and ran it again. I got the same result as method 1, but even though it didn't show the existing ROM version, I let it run and it actually did update!
I now how WM 5 (still) and:
ROM Version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radio Version: 1.40.30.00
Protocol version: 32.73.7020.16H
So far so good, but man that startup tone is LOUD! I am guessing that there was either a problem with the first upgrade I downloaded, or I just chickened out and didn't let the upgrade continue when I didn't see what I expected...
Hope this helps someone else!

Cingular 8524, upgrade to 3.12.3.7, in Vista, getting 294 error

Alright so I am so frustrated with this...and I am sure there is a simple solution for it. The screen on my old 8525 got messed up and since it was under waranty they sent me a replacement...the screen is ok on the replacement, but the phone isn't working (shows exclamation point next to "wine glass" rather than signal strength bars).... after hours and several phone calls to tech support, High End Devices waranty dept and who knows where else, it was determined that the current ROM version is incompatible with the AT&T network, I have to upgrade. So the version of the ROM on the replacement is 2.15.502.3 which makes wonder why in the world would AT&T send me a phone that would not work on their network? (I'm really trying not to vent here...) Anyways so I go to the HTC website as directed by the Tech. Support person download the stuff and after another hour on the phone with HTC and every possible sollution that they know is tried still can't install. I am running a Vista 64 machine and after getting around all the Vista quirks I am finally able to get to the Bootloader screen (button combination is: Side button [Ok] + [Power] Then push [Reset]...if done correctly your phone goes to the 4 bar boot loader screen, if not your phone soft resets and you have to try it again...) anyways in the bootloader screen it goes to the installation bar on both phone and PC and goes to 1%, then durring that one percent I get the horrible "ERROR 294 : INVALID VENDOR ID" on the PC and the Phone resets.....No matter how we have tried it it is always the same thing...redownloaded the file 3 times, restarted the phone about a gazillion times and the PC about 2 or 3 times. What can I do? I would love to have Ms Windows Mobile 6, but all I really want is a working phone....can anyone please help?
Some more info for those of you that can help:
On "Device Information" screen here is what I have:
ROM version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radio version: {blank}
Protocol version: {blank}
On Bootloader screen:
In the top (red) section:
(in white)
HERM100
IPL-1.03
(in yellow)
HERM100
SPL-1.11
and then at the bottom (white) section:
(in black)
USB
(it says Serial when I unplug the USB cable)
I am trying to install the ROM titled:
RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe
downloaded from:
http://216.139.227.230/download/Sof...502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe
found by going to http://www.htc.com, Support, AT&T 8525, Software Download.
Thank you for any help you can give.
u cant be serious......you got an invalid model ID from an 8525 while trying to install an update from at&t itself.
well the solution would simply be to install hardspl (see the sticky) and then install the update. although there are many other easier and faster solutions i think this is the *safest* way. but then the fact that your radio version shows nothing makes me wonder......maybe a corrupted radio or something, which may or may not be related to the invalid model ID error.......anywho, search the forums for error 294 its probably been discussed many times
First of all thanks for your help. So I tried installing the 2.10 - Hard-SPL-V7 and it wont finish the install. I connect the device follow through the installation and when I get to the point where I push Yes on the 8525 the screen goes to the red/green/blue/white bars screen shows
HERM100
IPL-SSPL by Des
HERM100
SPL-1.09.ds
then the Computer shows ERROR [260]: UPDATE ERROR and the installation stops....
error 260 is an open port error, reboot your computer, and try again, if it doesnt work, try a different usb port, also disable watever firewalls or antivirus software you have
Okay so I diabled both the firewall (Windows Firewall) and the antivirus (AVG) and restarted the computer...tried 3 different USB ports...still the same problem....You don't think it could have anything to do with Windows Vista 64 and Windows Mobile Device Center. BEcause as soon as I go into the new Bootloader screen, the WMDC shows that the 8525 is diconnected now...even though it's not. I saw a post on here about installing drivers to get Active Sync on a Vista machine, but the drivers it provides are unsigned and Vista won't let me load them....so what's the next step? And again thank you so much for your help.
Is there any use in putting more effort into this or should I just have AT&T send me a new one?
whether there's any use left is ur decision, dont ask me to help you make your decision.
i know you can install unsigned drivers on vista, i dont know how, use the search. i have also heard that updating wmdc to the latest version helps too.
or you can either try and install hardspl using the microsd card, again use the search.

[Q] ZUNE WMDU component error ....

I got an update notification today when I attached my HTC Mozart with my Windows 7 PC, update was 7.0(74xx). I clicked update and then computer started updated the Zune software to 4.8 first and was asked to disconnect the Mozart while Zune is getting updated.
At 88% completion error appeared "Zune WMDU component" not installed. Zune 4.8 update aborted.
I reconnect my Mozart to the PC and message appeared that you need Zune software on the PC. There's no Zune software on the PC any more.
any suggestion?
I had a similar issue whilst trying to force a backup, there's a file called zunewmdu.dll that seemed to delete itself. Reinstalling zune fixed it but deleted my backup. I haven't heard of zune fully uninstalling though. You could just try re-downloading the zune installer and trying the update again...
Thanks but I've installed 2-3 times the latest version but each time it stops at 88% and same error. even windows update suggests taht zune 4.8 update availalble but it ends up at the same 88%.
seems like I'm not able to install any version of Zune on my laptop. do i have to correct something in the registry setting?

[Q] Stuck on Update Failed after attempt to revert to stock ROM via SD

Note: I've seen a few similar threads with a problem like mine, but my HD2 is showing different error messages, so I thought I'd start a new thread to avoid making things worse.
---------------------------------
So I purchased a second hand HTC HD2 pretty cheap. It's the 512HD2 and it came flashed with a MIUI Android with a Samsung Galaxy S2-ish interface. Problem was, the battery got drained way too quickly, even from the most minimal usage, so I though I should flash back to the stock OS and get my problem solved so I could use the HD2 as a primary phone.
Here's what I did:
1. I followed jayceooi's tutorial.
2. I downloaded a ROM Update for HTC HD2 (3.14.405.2) from HTC's Official HD2 download page.
3. I opened up the .exe, got the .nbh, renamed it correctly, put it on the SD card and then verified it's really there with an Android file manager.
4. VolDown + PowerButton and I got to the rainbow menu thing (I know, I'm a noob and I don't know how it's called) then I let go of the keys and got to the update screen.
5. PowerButton - Update begins
6. 30 seconds later, only after about 1/4 of the bar had progressed, I got a black screen, and then a screen that says "Software update failed. Please try again". Afterwards the gray screen saying "Loading... 00028002 not allow". Finally, back to the RGB screen I got:
HX-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
And If i try to enter the boot mode via VolDown+PowerButton I get:
RUUNBH
HX-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
Update ROM code error
Please try again
Serial
---------------------------------
Should I try a USB flash or something?
Thanks in advance.
?
Nobody?
Update:
I tried to upgrade from 3.03.0000 SPL to the 3.03.0000 HSPL via USB in the boot mode, but I got a critical error and nothing happened on the device whatsoever - same state as the post above.
Any ideas?
probably wrong stock rom used, (or did you use the phones correct serial to download the rom?)
enter bootloader (three coloured screen)
connect usb
run hspl4
choose 3.03.hspl
back into bootlaoder
connect usb
run the 3.14 rom over usb.
EDIT - just saw your edit about critical error, , ,win7 64bit? try different usb ports, and try a different pc if you have one available, , hspl can be a little picky.

Unfortunately I have only one laptop with a 32 bit Win7, but it's OLD and crapfull of viruses so I'm not risking any failures there.
Do you think it will be safe to HSPL over VMWare (virtual OS environment inside of windows)?
P.S.: Exact model is the HTC HD2 T8585. I checked it via an IMEI checker.
there's a very good chance that hspl wont flash from a virtual machine. (Something about not getting low enough level access to the usb or something).

Ok, in that case I'll probably go over at a friend's house and try an HSPL there. I'll come back with some results as soon as I'm done.
Halfway done?
OK, so I got a good Windows 7 32 bit laptop and tried out HSPL4.exe by DFT. I kept my fingers crossed and, thankfully, I got to the "We hacked it! " screen.
After successfully updating and removing the USB cable, the phone rebooted with the same "Software Update Failed" message, but this time the gray screen showed the Cancel/Allow for the leoimg on the SD. I pressed the power button to attempt a flash, but I got the same issue as last time.
After that, the VolDown + PowerButton STILL showed:
SPL-3.03.0000
Since I'm not that stupid (I hope) I figured that the ROM reverts SPL and Radio to normal and that's why there was no trace of the HSPL, so I went back to the laptop to go at another 3.03.0000 HSPL. This time, after I got the "We hacked it! " screen I cancelled the ROM update and thankfully the RGB screen now reads:
P81100 HX-BC
SPL-3.03.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
IN SHORT - The HSPL was a success, now if you help me find the right ROM, I would owe you my life!
lol, i draw the line at advising roms, for example ive never used an android rom with sense, or a MIUI rom, and i havent used a winmo rom in about a year,, so it would be unfair of me to guide you.
ROM
Edit - Okay, thanks for all your help!
P.S.: I just ran an Task29 to get rid of the constant Software Update error at each boot and now I can boot into the RGB screen without the RUUNBH error so I think that will make things easier. I'll probably find the ROM myself or ask somewhere else.
Thanks again!!!
thanks

if you were a girl I would kiss you
You saved my day. I was searching for my problem since 3 days and this has solved the problem
Finally Done!
@ParmakSokan - Hey! Looks like I'm not the only one samsamuel helped!
A little update - I finally have the phone in working condition! It is now running the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 specific for O2, since I figured out the device was purchased in the UK.
For anyone interested, I got the ROM from the official library of HD2 ROMs in 4shared, which I believe is held together thanks to xda-developers, so yeah - yet another KUDOS for that!
The HTC Sense UI is simply beautiful and I think I will actually stay with 6.5 for a few more months before considering 7.5 Mango.
P.S.: Moderators can mark the thread as solved.

[Q] Error Code 33 - radio fail. What did go wrong?

Hi xda-community,
I am new to the Smartphone- and the Windows Phone world. My main cause is to get rid of the swisscom branding of my HTC Radar. But I also would really like to test some custom ROMs - especially the Dynamics HD2O looks promising in my mind. That's why I bought all the equipment necessary for Goldcard method for 2nd Gen WP7 phones as in this manual.
My Info:
HTC Radar C110e
Model ID: PI06100
SPL – 1.8. 160015.3 (131745)
Radio-16.23.06.10
Radio Software version: 16.23.06.10_ 16.32.00.23U
FW-Rev: 1600.2200.10801.166
What I did so far:
downloaded IMG_Omega_HTC_Europe_2.05.401.01_Radio_Signed_16.23.06.10_16.32.00.23_OMEGA_RELEASE.nbh
renamed it to OMEGIMG.nbh
put it on microSD-Card
used goldcard-tool and made Goldcard of microSD card
put goldcard on one end of Y-Cable, Radar on thick end, and red end in USB port of PC, which put Radar to light
entered USB Host Mode by pressing vol down + camera (now it shows "Update in Progress" and reboots about 10 times every 10 (?) seconds...then this appears:
OMEGIMG.nbh - FAIL
RADIO - Fail
BOOTLOADER -
RCUST -
OS -
>*>*>*>*>*
Update Terminate
UPDATE FAIL
Error code: 33
I tried it a dozen of times and only once it showed me "Update Complete - Update Success". The next time I rebooted the device it showed an "SPL 2.5 MFG" but only once. After another reboot it was back to 1.8 again
But I think the Radio version was upgraded by this "success", since it was 16.23.02.09_2_ 16.24.00.23U when I bought this smartphone.
However, I am lost at this point. In the DFT-manual linked above the basic stuff to know doesn't contain "RUU". I downloaded the ROMUpdateUtility from the manual but when I try, there's always this Error 294- invalid vender ID.
I tried several times to upgrade spl_2.6.160015.3_WWE.exe, but it'S stuck at 0% and then I get the connection Error 262.
Also I might add, that the Radar isn't anymore in the Control Panel but only the HTC USB Sync-Driver (?)
I am afraid to update via Zune, because I read, if the SPL is too high, I couldn't downgrade again to HSPL. However, I never installed Zune. Is this still available? What should I do?
Edit: it worked
after GOldcard, the device restartet b itself and I missed that to enter SPL mode (instead it rebooted to USB HOst Mode by itself and startet the goldcard-method from beginning). By entering SPL mode I stopped the loop of goldcarding and after my SPL was 2.5 after first goldcarding, I was able to HSPL'ing the device

Hi,
I use this ROM and it is very good one. But if you put HSPL already now you should put new radio RUU_Radar_Radio_17.5006.08.27 otherwise it will not work. Read the instructions in the tread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685271 in the tread there is link for downloading this radio. For me it was easy to HSPL the phone because I am not receive Country error and I don't need to use gold card just RUU.
