Hello,
since yesterday my Galaxy S2 (summer 2011) started to act wierdly and I am trying to figure out what is the problem.
I was running the latest Sentinel ROM, and I found it "freezed". So I forced restart long pressing the power button. After the restart, I found it freezed again after some (short) time. It also freeze on the boot process.
Apparently in a random way.
So I tried from recovery a factory reset, full wipe, and reinstalling the ROM. Problem still present.
Today I tried logging with ADB logcat, but I can't figure out the issue from the log. I thought a problem with Mali driver shipped with the ROM, but actually it freezes sometime also on boot (so before loading the drivers)
I tried then to flash back the Samsumg original ROM (JB 4.1.2), which apllied nicely. However it freezes also with Sammie's ROM. Also on boot. By example I one time I got the black screen with the writing "Samsung Galaxy GT-9100" getting grey, with some horizonatl black lines. So frozen.
Flashed again with ODIN, again nicely, but it keeps on freezing on boot.
I am clueless. Could it be some issue with the battery? (it's the original, never replaced)
Any help or suggestion appreciated
Thanks
Update:
I tried to flash it back to GingerBread stock by Samsung with Odin. Applied nicely.
It still keeps on randomly hanging :-|
Hello,
recently I downloaded a Glamour S4 and installed it. Also I downloaded, what is propably obvious, CWM. I used it for some time, but didn't like bacause of many bugs and limitations. I tried to download other rom, Project Chaos, but what is driving me crazy I couldn't download it from mega.co.nz becauze it freezes all the time on 66 or 90%. So after two days of trying to download and having this issue I decided to go back to original. I did everything as in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323847 but after finishing I realized that the software is branded by one of operators here in Poland, and it was freezing too long (about 30 minutes and samsung logo stayed still).
Fortunetly I had my backup from CWM. So what I did then was:
Installed CWM
backed up software
Installed original recovery
Set binary counter to default
Then I figured that root is still on my phone, so I choosed option in SU to fully unroot
Voila! Soft is smooth and as it was orginally. Status is original. Everything as it was before I changed any software, except one thing - I cannot check if there is a new update. I have internet connection, can access websites through wifi or mobile data etc., but when I check if there is new software, phone only shows "checking if there is new software" and progress bar, and it stays for 5, 10, 30... 60 minutes even, and nothing is happening...
It is annoying cause I wanted to back to fully original and wait for the official update, but right now something is wrong... Do anyone know, why?
Cheers!

You will need to flash a stock ROM with odin use: SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT
I was running CyanogenMod 10.1 on my GT-I9300 for several months and it worked great. But the other day I was using Google Navigation as a sat nav while driving and the battery went to 1% and the phone froze. Tried hard Reset ect but ended up having to remove the battery to turn it off.
When I had charged the phone I was stook at the Samsung Galaxy S logo screen and would not boot. I tried everything and several roms to get my phone back in working order.
For some strange reason I can only install CyanogenMod 9, which the wifi and mobile does not work at all so its of no use. When trying the CM10 builds I get stook at the same screen and if I use a Stock ROM I get stook at the Samsung blue animation logo in a boot loop.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Tried a couple of other roms installing through Clockwork Mod, including Phenom but only the CM9 one works.
Also just tried the KIES firmware installation, installed fine but on first boot its back into loop
Basically after a little play around with my phone I decided to root it using Chainfire, which went absolutely fine. My first problem arose when I tried to flash twrp recovery which led to some weird screen whenever I tried entering recovery. I wanted to factory reset my phone (So I did it through the settings) and now on the phone setup it just sits on the software update screen saying it's checking for updates. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Get odin and reflash your stock rom from sammobile! I did that and keept all my apps and files nothing was gone! Good luck
To start - I've sifted through this site and every other site to try to get the answers and am now reaching out for a lifeline. Nothing has worked to date and I've had to recover my phone several times.
I have an S6 Edge - it's a stock phone with out a carrier. A recent update attempt to 5.1.1 caused the phone to soft brick. Odin was used to update this phone - other phones were updated successfully but they were S6. Not edge. This phone has since fallen into my lap. It was brought to me stuck in a boot loop. Below is the steps I have performed. Every routine to flash the stock firmware has failed and this is the current state of the phone.
Samsung S6 Edge
Model: SM-G925F
PDA: LMY47X.G925FXXU3QOLD
Baseband:G925FXXU3QOJB
I searched based on the failed verification message in the boot menu - not startup loop because I kept coming across generic CTRL+ALT+DEL style procedures that did nothing for me. Since I didn't know what model or any other information initially - I looked through the boot logs. P.S. I'm not an android or phone expert - I sell ice cream.
Failed Attempt:
1. Downloaded ODIN + installed
2. Downloaded + installed latest Samsung USB drivers
3. Downloaded firmware (UK)
4. Used procedures for ODIN and firmware flash
Result: Failed - did not load and ended up in a startup loop
5. Attempted wipe data - still loop
Second Attempt
1. Repeated step 3 with firmware (O2/ Germany)
Result: ODIN progress almost completes - then scary RED FAIL in ODIN and an even scary message about using KiES/SWITCH to recover
First time - I kind of panicked but then I recovered and did some searching based on the errors.
Current Attempt and State
1. To restore I used a recipe of TWRP (latest version) + G925FXXU3QOJB_Home Reference + Download link: #galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/cwmtwrp-recovery
3. This brought me to the TWRP menu and I have a rooted version of Samsung S6 Edge which does me no good since I need to have the VR platform functional and VR does not like the state of my phone. I'm stuck. I've tried updating from here with stock but I end up going back to square one.
I can't find any other references or downloads of firmware that works - I'm starting to think I need an international version but i don't know.
Result I'm looking for : a functioning OFFICIAL 5.1.1 SAMSUNG S6 EDGE. Help.
