If you are on unlocked bootloader, cyanogenmod 7 (should be on 2.3.7)
Sent from my SK17i running MIUI 2.11.23

YES . Cyanogenmod 7.2 is gb 2.3.7 but when you see the version history for 2.3.4 and 2.3.7 there is no significant change . Very similar. So you can use any Rom based on .62 stock Sony firmware. But if number matters to you more than features then cyanogenmod 7.2 is 2.3.7 gb.

Remember, cyanogenmod in general has lot of awesome features not available in stock Sony Rom and other stock based Roms even though stock based Roms try to implement most features of cyanogenmod you can only experience the true cyanogenmod experience in a cyanogenmod release but you need a unlocked bootloader for cyanogenmod.

Open www.google.com type "cyanogenmod 7 for <your_device_name>" (excluding quotes and enter your device model number in <your_device_name> ) press enter . It should work . Please don't use the word noob and newbie because, if you want to learn you can learn almost everything just by using the awesome feature in world wide web called "search engines!"

You will never find a CM rom with a stock kernel as CM doesnt use anything that is from the OEM. they only use AOSP kernels and coding. Nothing from Sony,HTC,samsung, or Motorola.

ok
what rom you advice me to flash?
I'd try real ics lite or MiniCMSandwich.
Minicmsandwich looks like a vanilla rom, so it's got a nice Design.
Just scroll around in development section and Open some threads. There is written, if it's for Locked Bootloader, too.
If you like miui you could install HasaMIUI, as far as I Know it's for Locked Bootloader, too

And I'm using win8.1 now. When i try to install driver, it gives me an error. is that ok? I can also open flashtools

To flash on windows 8.1 is hard. Not sure if you'll succeed. If I were you I'd better try another PC for flashing. I guess without installing the drivers your PC won't recognize the phone and then you are unable to flash the rom!

Like I already told you, I guess you won't be successful to flash it using windows 8.1. You find tons of threads here, where some guys report that problem and I guess there's no real fix until now. Try to flash it with another PC (ask a friend) or try booting an Ubuntu live cd and try flashing it using Ubuntu

Hi mihahn, I have a question and I thought you might know the answer.
At the moment I have Cyanogenmod 9.1 on my Smultron.
I would like to downgrade back to the stock android.
Cyanogenmod is great, but I still miss some features like MobileBRAVIA-engine and not being able to record videos and listen to FM radio.
Do you know how to do that?
Thanks

So you suggest installing CyanogenMod 11.0, is that better than
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270027 ?
Ok so I have checked the mobile and it says bootloader can be unlocked: yes ... I now have an email with my unlock bootloader key.
Is this the suggested rom to use then?

Tbh, i'm new at xperia u. I've had it for the longest time without rooting/unlocking. 4.4 works for me. Sure, i experience bluetooth and video recording issues, but it works for my purposes (stable and fast rom. ART shows noticeable improvements, performance-wise). I'm not saying it's the best choice, just something to get you started.
I think its better to install this. Its better than ICS and bugless.
Or You can install Cyanogenmod 10, if you dont need xperia stuff=) This one is bugless too.
Install any of the Stock JB Rom... Stock JB is surely twice better than Stock ICS and its totally bugless
Note: Unlocked bootloader is required
