I've got random reboots with my Atrix since day 1, no matter which rom I use (stock, CM7, MIUI etc). It can be once a week to several times a day.
Any idea on how to monitor them in order to see what's wrong ? Maybe I could isolate a reason and share with devs or users...Thanks !
Did you ever think it could be hardware related?

Yes but I never dug into the random reboots in terms of logs. So I want to try to log for a week...if it doesn't work, I'll send it back to Motorola, although reading that the support may lock it forever is not a possibility I'm looking forward to...

I know there are several posting about Vibrants shutting down on its own even when it is fully charged, but, most of the posting are about rooted phones. I am experiencing the same problem but with a stock Vibrant upgraded to 2.2 Froyo. Is there a fix for this problem? I just experienced this problem twice today already and I'm hoping stock Vibrant owners might have a solution.
I have also had spontaneous shutdowns and reboots using CM. I tried two different ICS builds for a while (Onecosmic's and CM9 Kang) and it didn't happen with either of them, so maybe something about ICS fixes this. I'm waiting for CM permissions management to appear in an ICS build, then switching over for good.

I'm pretty sure in the OP the guy is looking for help from people on a stock vibrant, unrooted on 2.2...
As far as the random shutdowns go, I would try to factory reset the phone and let the phone sit for about 5-10 minutes after doing so before reinstalling apps and whatnot.

I have put my phone back to JFD via Odin quite a few times, let alone resets, so I wouldn't expect much from that. There will apparently never be a stock ICS for the Vibrant. If the underlying problem is indeed fixed in ICS, the OP may want to make the leap to a good rom at some point.
My GF's phone was on stock 2.2 Froyo and shutdown incidentally, it actually just cut power, black screen suddently. Tried two battery and did the same, reflash to VJI6 and JFD and didn't help at all, but after flashing to Bionix 1.3.1 somehow the problem is gone, weird though
Spontaneous halts and reboots indicate a bug in the kernel or drivers. I don't know what bionic uses. ICS kernels are from the 3.x series of Linux, and are incompatible with older roms. Changing ketnel amd/or radio driver might be a way of attacking the problem short of changing roms. I've changed radios with CM7 but still get the halt/reboots.
A spontaneous shutdowm could also be cause by the battery making bad contact.. try smacking or dropping the phone and see if it happens

I don't remember when exactly it all started but I've been experiencing random and frequent data drops on my thunderbolt.
I tried flashing every possible radio, kernel and rom combination and finally came to conclusion that call master app is causing this.
does anyone has a recommendation for a radio/rom that actually works with call master? or at least a real call master alternative? I tried many call blockers and none of them come close to call master.
please help, I'm going crazy about this issue!
P.S. If someone has older version of call master, could you please send it to me so I can see if that fixes my problem. I have purchased the key, I just believe that newest update screwed my data.

same problem here. i am running liquid smooth...
I don't know about call master but I know that it has been reported by several members, including myself, that there have been frequent data drops. It has been happening over the course if a month in different areas. So it could be in fact a Verizon thing. I am running eternity r248 with the latest radios and have been pretty steady as of lately.

Mine recently started dropping in and out too but it didn't start until about a week after others reported it. I switched to the 605.9 radios and it helped for a couple of days but it started back up again. I'm going to assume it's a verizon issue at this point.

I hate asking questions but i havent read up on this problem..
So every night for who knows how long now my text will all come in at once.
Calls arent coming thru but other person can hear the ring over and over and it doesnt ring on my end.
Calls and text will come in after i make a phone call.
my text are recieved but i dont recieve anything..
Its not Att because a lot more people would experience this..
All i can think of is swapping modems and see how it goes..
any other ideas anyome might have??
TIA
What ROM are you on? Last night I had an issue with cm10 905 nightly and got 3 texts after midnight all at same time, 1 from my mom so I know they were likely from the afternoon.
Might have to try another ROM if it continues to be an issue. This was on cm10 905 with uclf6 modem.

There are two things that might be going on there. I have heard similar complaints associated with cm10 based roms, if that's the case reflash is probably the best option aside from trying different modems.
That is also a common carrier issue, i have worked for both rogers and bell, most carriers use the same crm, when a customer service rep adds or removes a feature (voicemail or a text package) or changes your overall price plan some times the system gets... backed up at the switch, not really sure how to properly explain that situation, but technical support is usually well aware of how to reset your account. Its a common problem which is not necessarily shared by everyone on the network.
Just something to think about.

It sounds like a network/carrier/weather problem, especially with others mentioning similar issues. If it doesn't clear up within a day, then its time to look at the phone.
Thank you all for the replies
I'm on CM10/LiquidSmooth ROM
CLF6 modem
Its happened on CM9 and stock ROMs as well
It happens more often after some one goes over the data limit or something else is charged to the bill....
It might be ATT after all.... just kinda bugged by it since it happens A LOT even with out any changes being made to the bill/data plan
I'll test out with different modems to see if problem persists if not then im done with ATT

I think the FL6 modem is pretty good. But its worth the time experimenting. After you flash, give it a little time to settle in.

I was hoping that someone could help me with a very annoying problem I'm having. I'm getting texts multiple times throughtout the next few hours. Whenever I get a text, I can read it/respond/etc and it's fine. The problem arises an hour or so later in that I keep getting the same texts over and over and over. Best example is a text from my wife this morning at 8:22, I've gotten 8 times and it's only 11:32 now. Please can someone help me. Thanks for those that try.
Are you using a custom ROM? I know this is a known issues for a lot of CM builds.

I am actually. I'm using Miui.us. Could it have anything to do with the Sprint network and the huge east coast storm?
No it has nothing to do with storms, just annoying is all.
I believe you have to clear data in settings, applications for messenger, (backup using SMS backup and restore first) or clear cache in recovery (backup as well, obviously)

Thanks for the replay Slayer. I'll keep that in mind but for now it seems to have stopped on its own. So I guess I'll make a note of what you said in case it does it again. Thanks again for everyones time.
My bet is its just Sprint being Sprint. My Photon had that issue BAD when it was stock for first week or two. COMPLETELY untouched. Still have it do it from time to time, no matter what ROM im on, cm7/9/10, CNA, AOKP. Usually happened/happens when was in low service areas. Just my 2 cents, if clearing cache and whatnot helps for you then good its worth a shot but none of that ever did anything for me.
That is most likely a network issue. I used to work at Sprint and we would see it sometime. That is also the reason is usually just stops.

I have been researching threads, and I can't find anyone with the same problem. My I717 loves to reboot itself for seemingly no reason. Happens with toggles, happens in SMS (text), happens in GMail. Happens everywhere.
Roms I've been on
SlimBean
Paranoid
LiquidSmooth
Padawan
CM10
CM9
Everything.
I odined back to stock yesterday, rerooted - even on rooted Gingerbread it happens. Now I am on liquidsmooth. I have had at least a dozen in a 7 hour period. Happens every 20-30 minutes.
Also now when I am trying to install certain roms, I am getting an assert failed in CWM. So I cannot even install certain roms. It seems as though my phone is just rejecting everything.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks in advance!
If you say you searched for this problem and came up with nothing then may god help your soul because no one here can help you.
That is all.

I had the same problem for 6 months, turned out I needed to flash a different modem/radio/baseband. I'm using UCLF6 now without issue. Hope that helps you out, I felt pretty stupid for not trying it sooner :/
Is your recovery up to date? Old ones tend to not set permissions correctly with up to date gapps. Or maybe try a different recovery like the latest twrp. cm10 based ROMs are also prone to reboots because its using a modified ICS kernel..so expect it.
