From what ive heard the rezound has good external speaker compared to other phones. How loud it can sound can also be determined by how you have your audio set up. EQs can help and also you could get the Sony xLOUD mod which would make your phone louder. I can make mine go pretty loud.

thanks for the answer!
So, can you confirm your satisfaction of sound quality? Have you tried other device with a better sound? (Og droid for example?)
I tried volume+, is EQs better? have you any suggestion for settings?
Is your loudspeaker sound always clear, even when you activate Xloud and similar?

sometimes with the xloud mod it may become distorted if its too high, and i would say the audio quality is pretty good. i would suggest upping the higher frequencies if you want loudness and i dont use any universal eq apps like dsp manager. i use poweramp for my music app.

Well it is about as loud as my OG droid was. I would compare them however my OG droid wont boot anymore. and yea with the right settings you should be able too. Sometimes i have to fight over the sound of a TV turned up decently and I can still hear it ok.

I use the speaker on my Rezound all the time to listen to radio/podcasts and I think it's very good. I can hear it while I'm showering. I'm listening to it now with it on my nightstand a couple feet from me and the volume is less than halfway turned up.

Can't really compare, this is my first smartphone. Sorry.

anyone else can tell me his opinion? I'd really appreciate. Thank you!

Honestly, loudness is not an issue. Its the clarity that is an issue at high volume. Understand, HTC tried to do a good thing with the Rezound, but there is pretty much a mix of spending time developing a dual core lte device vs finding better hardware components for what most would consider was the selling point for the Rezound. Sound. Its like they gave up and just said screw it, here is a set of 'beats by dre' instead. Oh well, maybe they will eventually get it right.

Maybe electrical interference?
Move the tablet away from any other electronic devices (especially mobile phones) and see if it persists.
It hasnt really been near any phones..my phone is about 1 foot away from the touchpad..I have had it closer before and it hasn't made a noise..
I think I know what you mean, the sound is like a short buzz or "Donk" sound. I sometimes get it when I first click on the pad or when I swipe up to close an app.
The only thing I can think of that I did was installing the increase sound patch and later removed the patch. It started after that.

I got this after going through various patches, although I didn't install the sound patch. It went away for me after a few reboots.
To the OP, you may have abnormally good hearing and can hear the white noise speakers make when they're activated, try it with some other devices, see if you hear the same buzz, if not, call HP and get a replacement.

Touchpad weird sound
Ok so i just got my Touchpad 16GB yesterday and while i was playing around with it, i noticed it doing a weird sound like when those old speakers where powered on. I updated to 3.0.2 and it still does it.
Ps: Its not the WEE easteregg sound
Not sure what sound you mean but it shouldn't be making any noises you don't want it to. Get in touch with HP to see if they can fix it for you.

Well, i bought it from ebay (from canada) so im not sure if they will even think about checking it.
It makes that sound only when its not in 'mute' and when im using it. When the screen is locked, nothing happens. It sounds like a little shutter noise of half a second length.

Notification toggle

Finally got my x and at a good price at that. To bad earphones suck and beats audio is a joke, but hey! I had no expectations on those two items either.
For all who dislikes the stock power widget I can recommend an app called "notification toggle" by j4velin. He's active here on xda somewhere an his apps are in Google play.
Edit: oops! Maybe this should've gone in themes n apps.

Yeah, of course I tried with it off. Sounds like HTC intentionally made sound worse than it should be if beats is turned off. My old desire sound better.
A bit like raising prices beyond standard prices to have a larger sale percentage sign at black Friday sales.

I don;t hear much difference between it being on or off, except volume level. Though maybe it's just time for me to visit a doctor
Yeah, I agree with tihimasmo. I don't think BEATS is that good(Perhaps My expectation was really High Or a Good pair of headphones might do the trick ). Bought the phone recently and am a bit dissatisfied that the Cam is not good with Flash. My Wildfire S used to take better pictures. If the Flash is on , then the picture color seems to be washed away. I have no other issues with the phone other than camera. Any workaround other than disabling the Flash?

Hiss noise on phone speaker and headphones

Hello,
I just got my desire x. It is a good phone for the money.
But I have a problem with the phone speaker (front one) and headphones.
In both cases when sound is played I can hear on the background a constant hiss noise (static noise).
Is this normal to this phone or I got a defective one?
Before this phone I had LG P500 that also had this background hiss noise.
I don't have that sound, I think you got a wrong device? Or maybe it's the sound quality.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda premium
every time the speaker or the headphones get signal I heaer the hiss noise. it is a hardware problem.
when I searched on google I found out that one x user have the same problem.
how you can detect the hiss noise:
Play through the headphones a song and pause it, for a few seconds you should hear the hiss.
Anyone else?
I've noticed this noise too...
It seems to be a hardware issue, but since it's not very annoying, I don't plan (for the time being) on sending it for RMA.

Mine does the same thing; it's a bit disheartening to see my budget MP3 player outperform the Desire X on noise level and frequency response.

It's certainly not Desire X -specific; my previous phone (a ZTE Blade) had it too, albeit at a much, much lower level. My wife's Nook Tablet does it, too; apparently sound quality is allowed to slip on budget devices

Not desire x specific I think, mine is completely hiss-free ! Take it back to the store for a check I say
Recently got DX and even i have the hiss sound. When i play the song through any player and take the volume to zero, the hiss sound is there. And when i press stop, the hiss sound stays for 5 seconds every time then goes...
i dont think the issue is hardware related. at least lets hope a future update would solve the issue software wise..
---------- Post added at 09:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 AM ----------
this problem will probably annoy some people who are keen on every bit of treble sound and quality. this annoys me more cos i do electronics and know so much about sound and dB.
to offer some kind of comfort to those facing the problem watch this video. but it does not isolate the fact only some DX are having the problem. and to those that dont have the problem please watch this video around 3.27 and exactly at 3.30 you will hear the low hiss sound some of us are experiencing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLnuoQ6pIKk
Well I do wonder if the people whose DX don't seem to have this issue maybe are just listening for the wrong thing I must point out that I haven't used the shipped headphones yet; I've just used my regular headphones.
And before anyone goes off a tangent: I'm not an audiophile, far from it. My case is not made from piano or violin lacquer

absolutely. maybe those who dont think they have the problem should check out the youtube video i have posted and listen to the sound at time 3.27 and around 3.30 the hiss sound will be there...
the hardware or software problems seems inevitable for those who buy the first batch of a new phone...whoever the manufacturer is.

yeah man. the faint hiss sound (white noise actually) is there at volume level zero even. its much noticeable when we reduce the volume of a song to 0. but if u stop the sound suddenly while keeping your ear on the speaker piece...you will notice complete silence just after 4-5 seconds...before that you will hear something bzzzzz....
I just found out something weird.
When I listen to music with my hands free or an other pair of Sennheiser earphones, the hiss sound is something more than noticeable, even if I mute the sound while the music is playing on the background. Also, when talking on the phone (with or without earphones) I can still hear the sound. Just like it was mentioned on the previous posts.
But I tested it with a pair of headphones (AKG 172) that I use for my PC, and the sound was crystal clear! No hiss noise at all, no matter what I did. Listening to music, muting the sound (while mp3's still playing), talking to others on the phone. Everyone was just fine, no hiss noises or other disturbing stuff.

That's what I heard, takes a couple of seconds and then everything goes completely quiet. In my case, it's pretty faint though. I'm just wondering if the noise is present when playing music at any volume ? Maybe some people here can record of the headphone jack and check the clip in audio software lol (if anyone has time)
unfortunately the hiss noise is present even when playing music. I listened to a quiet passage and is there, it was not from the track. the hiss is also present during calls.
Anyhow the sound quality in desire x is poor and the beats logo is just marketing.

i checked my HD2 for the first time since i saw this topic and noticed this in my DX. to my surprise even the HD2 has the same symptoms and the white noise turns to complete silence just after 4-5 seconds. its given me some comfort actually
I'm new around here but I thought I'd weigh in with my findings on this (hi everyone!)
I just got a Desire X and notice the exact same "hissing" problem as described here, it is most noticable when using headphones but it happens when using the earpiece and speakerphone. Barley noticable when using speakerphone but it's still there.
I was curious so I pulled out my old Desire S and tried to reproduce it, the old model has no sign of it at all.
Interestingly enough I have a cheap-ish Toshiba laptop and it does the exact same thing when using headphones; play something at low volume and there is a hiss noise, hit mute and then the noise stops after a few seconds.
I have been in contact with HTC before I found this thread and asked them if this is a fault or something that all of the Desire X phones do, they responded with:
We appreciate your prompt reply. Please be advised that we based facts on what has been reported to us. We cannot attest to the authenticity of the different opinions and customers experiences that are found on different blog sites.
As of the current time, we are investigating the possible cause of this issue. If the problem persists, please send your device to your dealer to have it physically assessed.

I never mentioned anything about findings on the internet, i just stated the fault and asked if they all did it.
Does anyone here have a custom ROM on their DX and still have the same problem?
EDIT:
Also thought I'd mention that the hiss noise is the same volume regardless of the volume level, increasing the volume during a call or while listening to music does not make the hiss louder
Wow. What an attitude. Seems like someone is pissed at forums or blogs for finding faults that exists only . Talk about customer care!!! Jeez
As for nathb...thankx for posting their reply. Seems like they do read a lot around here for "speculations". Haha.

They did numerous times make a point of the fact that they are investigating the cause though!
Maybe that means a solution is in sight for DX (and oneX as well?) users. I am keeping my hopes up because I really like the phone otherwise.
However my knowledge of what causes these sort of problems leads me to think that it is hardware-based and the only way to fix it will probably result in a noticable drop in audio quality from the phone
Guys can anyone test the device with a pair of headphones, just as I mentioned six posts above?
I tested it again, but this time with my friend's headphones, and again, the sound was totally clear, with no hiss noise... I really find it strange.

Faint popping sound

Anyone else hear a faint popping sound after 2 seconds of any sound being played ? It sounds like the sound is from the speakers turning off.
Hey
My HTC One does this as well (started a thread about it just recently), and it was the first thing I noticed on the phone when using sound on the keyboard. Extremely annoying and seems to be a wide spread issue.
wide spread? where else have you heard of this problem? does it happen on the international version as well?
Wondering if i should return mine and get another.
Other users have been reporting the issue as well. I'm located in Canada, and members from the US have said their phones have the same problem.
Yea just read your post on the international forum, seem like a widespread issue. Well I hope its just software

Not sure, if I do have it I don't seem to be able to notice it. Where is it most prominent, I tested by starting and stopping Pandora repeatedly.
I believe it is the software keeping the amp on for a bit too long. I would assume this will be fixed with a software update

Ah, I can hear it now. In Pandora as well. Personally it's of a low enough volume level on my device where I don't think I'll find it annoying, but I still hope it's software related. Also seems to not be effected by the volume level or beats being on.

I could verify, I too was getting that popping sound. It's one of the first things I've noticed as soon as I got the phone home. I'm not trying to be overly OCD cause overall I think this phone is perfect and has none of the other flaws and defect mention on this site.
But I thought I should mention I haven't been able to replicate the popping sound.

OMG dude, just update already and see if that fixes it. You do understand that it's impossible for us to tell what's wrong with it unless we stand right next to you.
It will be low due to water proof purpose.
Yes, there's a membrane on the speaker so water doesn't get in. That alone decreases the volume a bit. Top it of with a little water too, and it'll get even quieter. It's just the way it is.

Whats the actual speaker sound quality like, not the volume but the quality?
I can only give you a reference in HTC Sensation, which I just recently retired after getting the Z ultra.
For sound quality and volume, both are a big improvement for me. So depending n how you look at it - How good ZU is, or how bad Sensation was...

this is very interesting. I turned the volume all the way down during a call and I could still hear a beeping noise.
even when there is dead air and no one is speaking from the other end, i hear a beeping noise.
its almost like the phone is emitting some noise during a call.
