[Q] Galaxy S2 problem, can't mount sdcard - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have posted this on the general q&a already but i think i can get a bit more help here.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 a few days ago.
It is the international version (i9100).
The problem is, i had it rooted and installed cm9 on it.
Then when i tried to make a backup the file was only 16 mb because the sdcard wouldn't mount in cwm recovery.
When i try to mount it manually in cwm it also gives the same error: Error mounting /sdcard!
I already tried like everything, flashing other cwm, other rom, also the original samsung firmware flashed back on gives the same error, another kernel, factory reset and cleaned the cache.
I don't know what i can do now to remount the internal sd card again.
Even when i try to format /sdcard it gives the error.
The only thing i haven't tried is re-partition but i've heard that it will brick your device since it has the bootloader in it which you will also delete.
I am now running cm10 because i thought when you change to cm10 it repartitions automatically. Didn't help either.
I hope someone can get me out of this problem.

[Q] Error Can't mount /cache/recovery in recovery

I have looked up this problem on both xda and google but found no Galaxy SII specific solutions.
I receive the error "Can't mount /cache/recovery" message when I enter recovery mode. The same error occurs when try to mount every other mounts and still receive the equivalent error. eg mount emmc gives "error mounting /emmc/
I am unable to flash a new rom or even mount the sd card to place a rom on.
I have rebooted the phone multiple times but to no avail. I have also tried to full wipe, cache wipe and format the internal partitions individually through the recovery but it did not work.
Clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.3
same error occurs on cwm 4.0.1.4
No current rom
Heard people say that by removing the sd card the error is resolved... (will only work if a corrupt sd card is to blame)
Might be able to use internal though
I tried it without the sd card, still same error. Also, the sd card i used before was working on another phone with all files intact, so no corrupted sd.
I would try starting a fresh... flashing with odin etc ... can you access download mode ?

Yeah that version of cwm has that problem. What you can do is copy a rom to your external sdcard, take out sdcard and put in card reader copy rom and put back in phone, and install from zip and then go external sdcard and install from there. Or what you can do is use odin to flash cwm v5.5 which works just fine.
Hope this helps.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
fixed, thanks.
I just reflashed the chainfire kernel through heimdall command script as my odin wasntt detecting my phone
I had this twise thought I was the only one believe it or not on two sgs2s in 2 weeks I fixed by flashing stock rom
try flashing new rom hope this helps
recovery.img incompatible

Hello guys,
I have a very strange problem that noone else has because i cant find anything about it on the net.
I have a Galaxy s3 with cyanogenmod 10.2 and boeffla 2.1 stabe using twrp as recovery. I´ve set up my system and made a backup of everything. then i´ve wanted to check if the restore is working so i restored my backup. after a reboot my entyre phone was set to factory state. happened 2 times . cyanogenmod was still installed but i had to configure the entire system again. after downloading all apps i decided to install cwm instead of twrp using cwm 6.0.4.5 touch for i9300 flashing via odin 1.85. everything worked fine and i booted into recovery to make a backup. cwm then says: Error cant mount /system so i tried to mount the system via the storage option. still says cant mount /system. then i rebooted my phone and again everything was gone... im really angry because whats the point of using a backup and then everything is gonna be erased.
i hope someone can help me with this. i also would erase everything and start from zero so that everything works.
Edit:
manual factory reset shows this:
formatting data
Error mounting /data.
Error mounting /sdcard/ . android_secure!
Skipping Format
formatting cache is working
cant format sd card.
&
Cant download apps from google play because of server problems...
show log:
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcb1k0p16 on/data failed: no such file or directory
W: failed to mount /dev/blockmmcb1k0p16 (file exist)
cant wipe dalvik cache
!!!phone gets resetted everytime after cwm says error cant mount /system!!!
regards
Can be closed
I´ve installed original Samsung firmware and then CWM + CM10.2 + Boeffla 2.1 again and now CWM can mount everything and the Backup also works. maybe Twrp ****ed something up. i dont know.
regards

[Q] Internal SC card problems HELP PLEASE

I have got a major issue go with my S3. I had lost my IMEI number but managed to get it back then over night it mysteriously vanished again. SO I went to install a back from nandroid...this is when it went wrong.
I went into philz and formatted everything.....and this is where i think i borked the internal memory.
I have since tried to
Install Omega v58 and it just sticks on on the start up omega droid walking.
Install stock ROM via Odin but it just hangs on the Samsung logo.
I have rerooted the phone but when i go into CWM to try to apply update zip ( as i read somewhere else to do ) i get the following
E: can't mount /sdcard/update.sip
if I try to chose zip from sdcard i get the following
E: can;t mount sdcard
If I try to mount the sdcard i get
Error mounting /sdcard!
Error mounting /efs!
Could someone please give a total idiots guide on how to rescue my phone please.

[Q] Galaxy S2 - i9100 - CWM Loop - Error mounting /sdcard

Hi Guys,
I have a big problem. Today I decided to install a CM ROM on my unlocked Galaxy S2 i9100. But was the worst decision ever.
First of all, I used this guide here to Root my S2 running Android 4.1.2. All went good, and it's rooted and with CWM 6.0.2.7.
Then I uploaded the zip file that contains the CM ROM to my phone and entered recovery mode. After that I used "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" but obtained this error:
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
And now, the worst part is that when I Power Off and then Power On my Galaxy S2 normally, it doesn't boot correctly and goes to CWM Recovery Mode.
Just don't know what to do.
Note: I don't have external Micro SD card. I just use my phone as it came from the store. So the problem must be the internal sd card.
Can anyone help me? Did I brick my phone?

I know, may be it's too late, but for other people can be usefull for this error.
I installed CM 12 on my S2, after that I extended the internal memory using PIT files with ODIN (backup required). After ODIN, I got 6G on my system but the other 6G was missing (S2 with 12G), no sdcard0 appeared on my S2. In recovery mode, I tried to format, wipe, clean, but always the same error "Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!" after 4 tries, I decided to format my sdcard0 with ext4 format, and then reformat again with default type, and after that the sdcard0 works fine.
That's all, S2 like new with CM12 and 6G to install apps!

[HELP] Some device partitions seem to be permanently unmounted

So a friend of mine recently gave me this YP-G70, asking me to fix it for him. His cousin had promised to put KitKat on the device, no problem, as a replacement to the stock software. This is all I know.
When I received the device, it would not boot into any ROM, only into recovery (CWM was flashed). In CWM, I could see that /system, /data, /emmc, and /sdcard partitions were all unmounted. I tried to remount them in CWM, but alas, this did not survive a reboot, even just back into recovery.
I have tried to flash the stock firmware for this device (obtained from sammobile) through odin, which was a success... until it booted up, and found that again, the proper partitions were not mounted. From there, I went on to flash CM9, which ended me up to where I am now.
As it currently stands, /dbdata, /data, /emmc, and /sdcard are all unmounted and are stuck that way. Does anyone know how to solve this, cause I am lost right now.

I would try to find out what the log files say. If you can still make a full backup under CWM, I suppose this should include the last log written by android. This is where I would start my investigation. It is of course strange that android fails to mount the /data partition. I have no clue what /dbdata is for. My gut feeling is that your friend messed up the partioning, but I think it is key to find out what happens during boot time.
Finally, since you didn't write about this: Did you try wipe the cache and dalvik cache in CWM?
